Genshin Impact codes – January 2022

Looking for Genshin Impact codes? MiHoYo's charming open-world game is notoriously addictive, and if you're anything like us, you're constantly on the lookout for more Genshin Impact primogems and other goodies.

Gathering currency in Genshin Impact can be quite the grind - while you can earn mora and primogems by completing quests such as daily commissions, an injection of extra funds will always be gratefully received. Fortunately, the developers MiHoYo occasionally send out free gifts in the form of Genshin Impact codes that can be redeemed online.

These Genshin Impact codes are released periodically. They frequently appear in MiHoYo's special programs that reveal information about future updates coming to the game soon, but are also released to celebrate milestones or to coincide with Genshin Impact events. Most codes also only work for a limited time - so it's a good idea to redeem them as soon as possible in case you miss out. Codes can only be redeemed once per account. Here are all the current Genshin Impact codes for January 2022, and how to redeem them.

League of Legends patch 12.3 notes – big Ahri abilities rework, Vel'Koz VFX update

As we head further into the new year, the League of Legends patches keep on coming. League of Legends patch 12.2 has headed to live servers, bringing new champion Zeri, the Spark of Zaun, and a whole lot of new skins. It seems 12.3 will be a somewhat humbler affair, at least as far as cosmetics are concerned, but there are still plenty of key changes fans will want to know - so, read on if you're keen to know what's next.

It appears that League of Legends patch 12.3 won't be bringing new skins - given that these tend to hit the PBE first thing in a new testing cycle, and there doesn't seem to be any as yet - but we do have some big Ahri balance changes coming up. Principal character designer August 'Riot August' Browning has posted some details around this on Twitter.

Goals for the refresh include "lean[ing] into her mobile mage identity by allowing R to partially reset, giving her more opportunities to carry fights" and reworking her passive ability to "be more useful throughout the game". Additionally, the devs want to "make her spells feel better to cast in lane". You can check out all the changed abilities in the notes below.

The best RPG games on PC in 2022

What are the best RPG games on PC? And yes, we're aware that RPG already stands for role-playing games, but apparently the wider internet isn't. Either way, it's not an easy question to answer, especially given the number of them out there and the hours required to beat them - we're talking 50+ hours most of the time...

Plus, as a stalwart PC genre that came into existence in the '70s, videogame RPGs have changed a lot over the years, with their upgrade trees and rulesets branching out into practically every other genre. Their scale and scope is massive like never before, with tech finally starting to catch up to the ambitions of developers, allowing for huge worlds and entirely new of the best RPG experiences.

The diversity of the RPG nowadays is hard to express. Just in our selection below we've got interplanetary exploration, lightsaber duels, bloodthirsty vampires, irradiated mutants who need to be beaten with golf clubs, lizards who can talk to cats, and a whole lot of dice rolling if that's your jam.

Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun banner and abilities

The Genshin Impact Electro Archon was finally revealed in the 2.0 livestream event, and joined the list of NPCs hailing from Inazuma in the Genshin Impact 2.0 update. Although her banner has been and gone, there are 2.5 update rumours that she could appear on the next Genshin Impact banner.

Raiden Ei, also known as Raiden Shogun, the Electro Archon, and the God of Eternity (just to confuse matters) is the leader of Inazuma and commands an army, led by Kujou Sara. Ei believes in achieving divine eternity, and to that end, Visions should be harvested and inlaid to the statue of the Thousand-Armed, Hundred-Eyed God.

Although Raiden Ei is a formidable character, there are other characters in Inazuma prepared to help you, including Gorou, the leader of the resistance, as well as new Genshin Impact characters: Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu. If you're hoping to pull Ei in future updates, here are Raiden Shogun's ascension materials and the best Raiden Shogun builds.

The best Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build

Searching for the best Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build? Also known as Raiden Ei, the main villain in the Inazuma storyline, Raiden Shogun has joined the ever growing roster of new Genshin Impact characters. Raiden Shogun could have an upcoming banner rerun according to Genshin Impact 2.5 update rumours, so be sure to grab all of Raiden Shogun's ascension materials and plan for Ei's abilities.

Though Ei wields a sword in most of the game's cutscenes, she's actually an Electro polearm user. Don't worry, she still has access to her sword - it only becomes active during her elemental burst. Ei's arsenal leans towards her being a support character, however, her abilities still cause problems for enemies without her needing to be centre stage.

Without spoiling the story, you're going to need a powerful team to take down the new bosses in the next update. Fortunately, Raiden Shogun is going to do a great job in the support and sub DPS role.

Windows 11's TPM requirement is causing stuttering issues with AMD Ryzen CPUs

Windows 11 has been around for just under four months now, quickly becoming the second most popular version of Microsoft's operating system among gaming PCs. While it will undoubtedly eventually replace Windows 10, there's still plenty of troubleshooting to be done before then, especially when it comes to AMD Ryzen CPUs.

A thread on the Linus Tech Tips forums contains multiple testimonies of users experiencing stuttering issues on their Windows 11 PCs, while running an AMD Ryzen processor. Worse still, these reports date back to July 2021. The problem appears to be related to the 'fTPM' BIOS setting (firmware Trusted Platform Module), which must be enabled in order for Windows 11 to be installed.

However, users say that turning 'fTPM' off not only resolves the issue, but also has no impact on the functionality of their OS. It's unclear what plans Microsoft has to address this issue, or how quickly a fix can be deployed, but the company was previously quick to address other issues relating to AMD Ryzen CPU performance on Windows 11.

Following a stretch on Stadia, a platform so forgotten I didn't even know the game existed, a sequel to 2015's lovely Submerged is venturing onto PC and beyond. I'm often not interested in games which reflect my daily life but Submerged: Hidden Depths makes it look so pretty to lark about in water and explore the ruins of civilisation that sure, I'll do it in the game too. Check out the trailer below.

Grapple Dog is one of those games I've been watching on Twitter for years. It's a 2D platformer in which you play as a dog with a grappling hook. When Death Stranding's PC pubishers announced in January that the expanded Death Stranding Director's Cut was indeed coming belatedly to PC, they neglected to mention whether they'd offer a cheaper upgrade. Seeing as the newness is very much not worth buying the game again, it was a weird omission. But, now they say they'll offer a £9/$10 upgrade from the base game, and announced a release date of the 30th of March. Right-o!

Back in the mists of time of 2013, a bunch of Japanese developers got together to make a series of short 3DS games called the Guild series. Headed up by Ni No Kuni makers Level-5, it had some pretty big-name contributors: Keiji Inafune, Goichi Suda, Yoot Saito and Yasumi Matsuno among others. But there was one game that stood out to me as something really quite special. It was the considerably less well-known Millennium Kitchen's Attack Of The Friday Monsters, a sweet slice of life adventure that saw you play as ten-year-old Sohta walking the streets of his small Tokyo suburb on a hazy summer afternoon in 1971. It was a tender celebration of childhood nostalgia and imagination, with just an inkling of some menacing undertones, both from the people Sohta meets in his neighbourhood and the titular Friday kaiju monsters that may or may not exist in the real world.

I mention all this because The Kids We Were is probably the only game I've played since then that's even come close to capturing some of that Attack Of The Friday Monsters magic. You won't find any kaiju here, but this is a similarly nostalgic portrait of pastoral Tokyo, as viewed through the eyes of young Minato on his summer holidays, first in the present day and then in the 1980s when he ends up travelling back in time Back To The Future-style to when his parents first met as kids. With three days to right past wrongs, this is one of those gentle, coming of age tales that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy in all the right places, even when there's no real 'game' to speak of.

Hitman 3 had a rough launch on Steam last week, quickly gathering 50% negative user reviews. Many of the complaints related to price and confusion over the various editions on sale.

To make amends, Io Interactive are giving anyone who buys Hitman 3 on Steam before February 19th a free upgrade. If you buy the standard edition (£50/$60), you'll be bumped up to the Deluxe Edition (£75/$90). If you bought the Deluxe Edition, you'll get a free upgrade to the Seven Deadly Sins Collection (which on its own costs £23.73 with its 15% launch discount).

Monster Hunter Rise Origin Armor

Capcom is bringing back the Origin armor set to Monster Hunter Rise. Players can craft the layered armor set by completing the new "A Good Old-Fashioned Rampage" event quest. The event quest is only available on the Nintendo Switch version of the game. Additionally, Capcom is also providing players with free guild items.

https://twitter.com/monsterhunter/status/1486877951543197702?s=20&t=T9U82g3kcXsVK09NMKIzGQ

The Origin armor set is actually based on an older version of the Hunter's Armor that appeared in the first Monster Hunter title. Subsequent releases of the game continued to use the same design with slight variations. In Monster Hunter World, however, Capcom replaced the original Hunter's Armor design with a new one. Later, Capcom brought back the armor set as a pre-order bonus under the new "Origin Armor" name.

Players can craft the layered armor set by completing the new rampage event quest. You can download the rampage event quest by talking to Senri the Mailman in the Steelworks area of Kamura village. Furthermore, Senri the Mailman will also provide players with the free guild provision items listed below:

  • Max Potion x 30
  • Ancient Potion x 20
  • Heavy Armor Sphere x 10
  • Lazurite Jewel x 20
  • Golden Egg x 5

Capcom has been adding lots of armor sets from previous titles over the past few months. This includes the Azure Age, Orion, and Guild Cross armor sets from Monster Hunter World. The Guild Cross armor set, in particular, will help players get through the game's early quests with useful skills and stats.

Monster Hunter Rise is immediately available for PC and Nintendo Switch, but the Origin armor set will only be available on Switch for the time being. The upcoming Sunbreak expansion will launch in Summer 2022.
