Kotaku Monday, February 14, 2022 6:40 PM Over the last few days, a series of mods for the PC strategy game Cities: Skylines have been removed from Steam after users began fearing that they contained all kinds of nasty stuff, from keyloggers to viruses to bitcoin mining software. |
Kotaku Monday, February 14, 2022 4:30 PM I remember putting on record back in 2016 how I thought Creative Assembly's pivot to Warhammer games was a bad idea. How "seeing the series walk away from the real world was a blow", and that "This isn't even the good Warhammer. It's the dorky medieval one". |
Kotaku Monday, February 14, 2022 3:40 PM Lost Ark is a lot of fun. I've played hours and hours of it and I'm excited to play more. However, the latest smash hit on Steam is facing criticism for how it portrays its female characters. |

PCGamesN Monday, February 14, 2022 6:58 PM Over the weekend, controversy arose in the Cities: Skylines modding community as a number of mods were removed from the Steam Workshop. Some of these mods included features that could make you vulnerable to malware. However, a new update from the game's developers asserts that none of the affected mods contained malware directly. "No keyloggers, viruses, bitcoin mining software, or similar has been found in mods on the Steam Workshop," as the devs explain in a news post. Two mods have been banned: Network Extensions 3 and Update from Github. A third mod, Harmony (Redesigned), was named as part of the controversy, but had not been updated since March 2021, and the devs say "further updates to this workshop item are not possible as the account is banned and contributors are unable to update workshop items." Network Extensions 3 "blocked a short list of Steam users from using the mod, but this was later changed to cause what appeared to be buggy gameplay". Targeting specific Steam users in that way is against the platform's subscriber agreement, and the mod was banned on that ground. PCGamesN Monday, February 14, 2022 6:08 PM If you're the type to watch the Steam charts - there are people outside of game journalism who do that, right? - you've probably seen Naraka: Bladepoint making regular appearances among the platform's most-played games. If you want to know what the fuss is about, you're about to have your chance, as the game's getting a free-to-play weekend following the launch of the latest season. The Naraka: Bladepoint free weekend begins on Friday, February 18 and lasts until Tuesday, February 22. From the start of the promotion until February 25, you'll also be able to pick up the game at a 30% discount off its usual $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99 price tag. The new season, Echelon, kicked off on February 13, and precedes the launch of a new hero named Justina Gu. The devs have also recently implemented a ranked duo mode, as well as a major update to the Souljade system. |
PCGamesN Monday, February 14, 2022 2:23 PM I'm never happier about a broken promise than when it comes from the Terraria devs. After the Journey's End update (and then the Journey's Actual End update) promised a conclusion to official support for the game, the devs went and did a Don't Starve crossover. Now they've announced yet another major patch on the way. Terraria's 1.4.4 patch is called the 'Labor of Love Update', a response to fans voting the game up for the similarly-named Steam award. A reveal video from YouTuber Chippy confirms that the new update will be focused primarily on balance changes, not new content - though a few surprise new items are planned for the release. One of those new items has been revealed early, however: Resplendent Dessert will allow you to summon both slime pets simultaneously. Among the balance changes, melee weapons like Dark Lance, Frostbrand, Flairon, Scourge of the Corruptor, Star Wrath are all getting buffed, and there've been a pile of quality-of-life changes, too. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, February 14, 2022 8:20 PM With a game title that has the word "war" written twice, you'll obviously have a lot of conflicts to resolve. There are also new mechanics in play that can prove to be both engrossing and detrimental to overall progression. Here's our Total War: Warhammer III guide to help you with Survival Battles, siege mechanics, and defensive supplies. Note: We'll have a Total War: Warhammer III guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned. Total War: Warhammer III Survival Battles, siege mechanics, and defensive supplies guide Sieges and Supplies Originally, this guide was only supposed to be about Survival Battles in Total War: Warhammer III. However, I've decided to add sieges because, along with defensive supplies, these core mechanics remain in play. First off, defensive supplies generally come from the main settlement building (1,000 supplies) even at the lowest tier. Likewise, you can amass 50 to 100 supplies per turn if a minor settlement has a g... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, February 14, 2022 6:30 PM There seems to be a new version of Nvidia's RTX 3050 coming that will feature the GA-107 GPU, which has a lower TDP than the current GA-106 chip as seen on existing specs sheets. This has been rumored for a while now, and the update is corroborated by some weird decisions made on Nvidia's part in the past. Either way though, if this is indeed the case, it would be a great step forward for what is supposed to be Nvidia's cheaper RTX 30 Series graphics card. This information originally comes from Igor's Lab, which shared some details on what we can expect from the updated RTX 3050. This posting states that the updated RTX 3050 will indeed feature the GA-107 GPU. The posting also goes into aspects of the previous GA-106 GPU and why it was used instead of the newer GA-107. An improved version of Nvidia's RTX 3050 Back when the RTX 3050 was first introduced, everyone wondered why Nvidia decided to use a design featuring a cut-down GA-106 GPU that had ... |

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, February 14, 2022 6:00 PM Hot on the heels of Uncharted getting made into a vaguely related movie that no one asked for, series' characters, including Not Indiana Jones and British Pony-tailed Lady That Isn't Lara Croft, are coming to the ever-expanding tween kill-fest of Fortnite. Twitter user Z0m6ieLeaks tweeted the trailer out earlier today, so now we have to talk about it, even though I'm assuming no one wants to. According to the tweet, the crossover should go live on February 17 at 7 PM ET, so this is happening very soon. Presumably it'll tie in with the movie starring Spider-Man and Brags-about-being-able-to-stop-horrible-disasters-man. The announcement came alongside a trailer which gives us a pretty exact idea of what this crossover entails. Players will be able to get skins that bear the likenesses of Nathan Drake and Chloe Frazer from the Uncharted movie, as well as ones that look like the characters from the games. I wonder which ones people will be more enthused about? Th... |
