PCGamesN Saturday, February 19, 2022 9:43 AM Amazon Games' newest action MMORPG, Lost Ark, features an array of exciting combat options and a complex class system that gives way to many specialities and unique abilities. Many of the challenges you'll face on your journey through Arkesia will rely on your ability to wield these skills, so we're taking a quick look at how to maximise your combat potential early on in the game. There's plenty to do in Lost Ark - from collecting pets to taking down enormous demons - but combat is something you'll want to have a handle on pretty early on, as it shapes your entire experience and progression through the game. You'll find yourself slashing through plenty of dungeons in the main quest, but even side stories can have their own battles to overcome. Combat can also reward you handsomely for your skills, with loot drops and gear upgrades available following the demise of most bosses. Here, we take a quick look at combat from all the main angles, and give you a few tips to keep your edge. RELATED LINKS: Best MMOS and MMORPGs on PC, Upcoming PC games, Best fantasy games on PC |
PCGamesN Saturday, February 19, 2022 7:58 AM The latest Final Fantasy XIV Letter to the Producer stream happened earlier this weekend and brought with it a lot of info on some of the major things coming to the MMO game - including details on the "first graphical update" coming in the next expansion, alongside FFXIV 7.0. The latest Letter to the Producer show for FFXIV kicked off this weekend, and it had already been announced that the stream would cover the next ten years of the MMO - as well as the updates that would build to the game's next expansion after Endwalker. There was a lot of news in the stream but perhaps the biggest was the reveal that FFXIV's first graphics overhaul will arrive in version 7.0, with preparations for this running from 6.1 to 6.5 (thanks, Nova Crystallis). It will require an increase in the MMO's minimum requirements, but Square Enix will still "try to accommodate as broad a range of hardware specs as possible" - and don't expect it to suddenly look like Horizon Forbidden West or anything. With the number of people on screen, "I don't think it'd run on anybody's PC," says director Naoki Yoshida. RELATED LINKS: The best MMOs on PC, FFXIV Reaper job guide, FFXIV Sage job guide |
PCGamesN Saturday, February 19, 2022 7:28 AM The producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV has stated that the team and Square Enix "do not have any intentions" to add NFTs to the popular online MMO. In the latest livestream, Naoki Yoshida stated that FFXIV NFTs would never be a thing. "No NFTs in FFXIV," he confirms - opposite to a recent statement by Square Enix's CEO. Final Fantasy XIV's latest Letter to the Producer live broadcast went out this weekend and touched on a number of subjects, including the long-term future of the MMO. During the pre-broadcast segment (thanks, Fanbyte) the stream's titular producer Naoki Yoshida spoke - through Square Enix translator Aimi Tokutake - about the NFT controversy. "We don't intend on incorporating any sort of NFT element in the game at this point," Yoshida confirms. "If anybody is worried or concerned about it, I can clearly state at this time that we do not have any intentions to incorporate that into the game." Then, just to be absolutely clear, he repeated, "no NFTs in FFXIV, so don't worry." RELATED LINKS: The best MMOs on PC, FFXIV Reaper job guide, FFXIV Sage job guide |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, February 19, 2022 8:06 AM I go long stretches where I forget Starfield exists, but I'm excited everytime I remember. Bethesda games are big, in all dimensions, and I want to see what happens when their new scifi RPG debuts later this year. The thing to remind me this time: an extremely brief video showing the creation of some key art, alongside a quote from lead artist Istvan Pely, who describes Starfield's aesthetic as "NASA-Punk". |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, February 19, 2022 7:12 AM Know By Heart, the new game from Ice-Pick Lodge, makers of Pathologic, is described as a "sentimental adventure." It's about a group of friends reuniting in their provincial Russian hometown, which is rendered with golden hour lighting and inhabited by soft, faceless characters. But around the edges of the launch trailer there's plenty of signs of Ice-Pick's typical dread and anxiety. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, February 19, 2022 5:58 AM In a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) meeting earlier this week, representatives from Raven Software and Activision Blizzard clashed over the next steps in employees' attempts to establish a union within the Quality Assurance department. Specifically, both parties disagree over who should be eligible to vote in union elections. |
