PCGamesN Thursday, December 8, 2022 8:11 PM Want to learn more about the Street Fighter 6 release date? After a successful closed beta period back in October, the fighting game community cannot wait to get their hands on the full game. Street Fighter 5 was heavily criticised at launch for its lack of playable content outside of Versus mode and while this satisfied most high-level players, casual players found there was very little to keep them entertained. Capcom has taken its time developing Street Fighter 6 to ensure they don't repeat the same mistakes again. It features a brand new single-player story mode which gives players a chance to explore Metro City as a custom fighter. The Street Fighter 6 release date isn't set to launch until next year at the earliest, but it's clear the game is in a good place at this point in development. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 9, 2022 12:45 AM Oh look, it's the end of the year. I'm very much not looking forward to those first few months where I must train myself to write out the year with a 3 at the end, but thanks to tonight's much-awaited The Game Awards 2022, I'm left feeling about 33% more hyped for all the games we're gonna get to play next year. On the off-chance that you missed the live show, fear not. We've sacrificed our sleep to round up every little thing that was trailered or announced at this year's Game Awards. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 9, 2022 12:05 AM The Geoffries tonight saw the announcement of a new cooperative heist FPS with set in the 90s, with an extremely 90s cast. 90s actors featuring in Crime Boss: Rockay City include Michael Madsen, Kim Basinger, Danny Glover, Danny Trejo, and even Vanilla Ice and Chuck Norris. The game looks a whole lot like Payday but honestly, I'm always up for more heists. Check out the trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 9, 2022 12:01 AM At this year's Game Awards, we got to see a short teaser trailer for the latest game to come under EA's Originals label. It's called Immortals of Aveum, and it's being made by the recently-formed Ascendant Studios - which you might remember is Dead Space creative director Bret Robbins' new thing. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 11:31 PM For the longest time, FromSoftware were best known for their Armored Core series of middling mech games. Then they found a whole new audience with Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, and nary a big robot in sight. Well, now FromSoft are returning to big stompy boys with Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon, coming in 2023. Check out the cool mechs in the announcement trailer from tonight's Geoffries, below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 11:26 PM Final Fantasy 16 got a fiery new trailer tonight, as well as a final release date of June 22nd 2023. At least that's the date for PS5 players. For us folks on PC, tonight's Game Awards trailer confirmed in tiny small print that Square Enix's next JRPG epic won't be landing on "other platforms" until December 31st 2023 at the earliest. So, unless Squeenix are going to deliver us a belated Christmas New Year special next year, I think it's safe to assume that FF16's PC release won't be available to summon until 2024. Still, based on what we've seen in its new "Revenge" trailer tonight, I reckon it will be well worth the wait. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 11:07 PM During The Game Awards, Behaviour Interactive announced that their new PvP raid game Meet Your Maker will debut next year on April 4th 2023. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:59 PM Right, here's where I have to stay objective and professional. I've been a card-carrying Transformers fan since Generation 1, so I'm somewhat confused by the trailer shown at The Game Awards tonight for Gears studio Splash Damage's upcoming co-op action game Transformers: Reactivate. Yes, theoretically any rather large robot that changes shape counts as a Transformer. Possibly a GoBot, I'm not going to judge anyone on their lifestyle. Just watch the trailer below and tell me what you think, go on. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:58 PM Man, I was never much of a Flash liker, but even I feel a bit sorry for him in tonight's new trailer for Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. He gets a right old beating in the new Game Awards footage, but thankfully it looks like The Batman will be on hand to deliver some much needed... justice (sorry) when it comes out on May 26th 2023. Maybe. Miss you, Kevin Conroy. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:28 PM Hot on the heels of a report claiming that Diablo IV developers are likely facing painful overtime to meet a then-unconfirmed release date of June 6th, a new trailer at the Geoffries tonight confirmed that yeah Diablo IV's release date is June 6th. Well. Alrighty. Still, this CGI trailer is nice and fancy. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:18 PM I was astonished by the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 at last year's Game Awards, never expecting a sequel to actually happen, so I'm pleased to see a new trailer at this year's Geoffries. This "gameplay reveal trailer" only has a few wee snippets of the game being played, but they're solid. As our boy Spice Maureen stomps through vast Gothic industrial ruins and cuts through hordes of aliens, it's got that 'Dynasty Warriors meets God Of War' look again. But I do already miss the Orks. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:12 PM Don't Nod are still primarily associated with Life Is Strange and a handful of other narrative-focused adventure games. Back in 2018, however, they also made action RPG Vampyr, which mixed more substantial combat among their usual focus on story. It's in this vein that Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden seems to continue. It's an action RPG about "two proficient ghost hunters and lovers" set in the haunted, frozen wilderness of 1695 North America. You can watch the reveal trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:11 PM Ahh, I've got my eye on you Dune: Awakening. An open-world survival MMO set in perhaps one of the most suitable sci-fi universes for such a thing, Funcom's upcoming game based on the works of Frank Herbert and the recent movie showed its first in-game footage at tonight's Game Awards. Pop on your stillsuit and jump in your ornithopter to watch the pre-alpha teaser trailer below, you cheeky Kwisatz Haderach wannabe. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:04 PM Celeste developers Extremely OK Games have announced their new game at The Game Awards this evening, and it looks like they've gone in a new direction from their previous tough-as-nails platformer. Earthblade is a high-fantasy exploration game that takes place in a ruined world with magic and monsters. It looks pretty cool, so check out the trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:59 PM The big Company Of Heroes 3 news from tonight's Game Awards was that, in addition to launching on PC on February 23rd next year, the WW2 RTS will also be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles in 2023 at a later date. The exact timing of the Company Of Heroes 3 Console Edition is yet to be confirmed, but it will mark the first time Relic's historical real-time strategy game will be available to play outside of PC. However, if you were hoping to get in on some PC / console crossplay action regarding the game's multiplayer, you may be disappointed, as publisher Sega confirmed to me today that they have "no plans to support crossplay between PC and consoles for multiplayer at launch". |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:57 PM After six months of shambling around PlayStation 5 consoles, Naughty Dog's first installment of The Last Of Us is heading to PC next year. Confirmed at tonight's Game Awards, The Last Of Us Part 1 will be clicking onto PC on March 3rd 2023. Honestly, I just want to see the giraffes again, really. Those zombies can get stuffed. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:56 PM Anime is a Good Thing. There, I said it. Those cel-shaded visuals instantly got my attention when the new trailer for free-to-play MMORPG Blue Protocol popped up at The Game Awards this evening - and that Hiroyuki Sawano soundtrack ain't bad either (that's one for the Gundam Unicorn and Attack On Titan fans out there). It's being developed by Bandai Namco, but for some reason New World and Lost Ark publisher Amazon Games will be the ones bringing the MMO to the west in the second half of 2023. Either way, you can watch the trailer below and repeat my own very succinct inner monologue, if you like. Repeat after me: "Ooh, cel-shading. Nice." |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:48 PM A new trailer for Star Wars: Jedi Survivor hot out the Geoffries tonight shows off the return of Cal Kestis and confirms a release date of March 17th, 2023. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:38 PM An official remake of the classic 1970s text adventure game Colossal Cave is in the works, as announced back in March last year, and thanks to tonight's Game Awards we now know it's set to release on January 19th, 2023. Best add a spelunking kit to your Christmas wish list, then. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:34 PM Wayfinder is a new free-to-play action-RPG developed by Battle Chasers: Nightwar devs Airship Syndicate and published by Digital Extremes, the folks behind Warframe. And it shows! The game certainly looks like an ARPG, akin to say, Torchlight, with heroes battling against shadowy monsters to earn lots of rare and epic and legendary loot. It looks fine, good and dandy, so why not give the reveal trailer below a nice little watch? |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:32 PM It's been a full year since ex-BioWare boss Aaryn Flynn and his new studio Inflexion announced Nightingale at The Game Awards. In case you've forgotten, Nightingale is a PvE crafting survival game with a strong Victoriana vibe, but since our chat with them back at Summer Games Fest in June, and an early access delay into the first half of 2023 to accommodate the switch to Unreal Engine 5, we haven't heard too much about the game. I got to natter with Flynn, director of production Leah Summers, and art director Neil Thompson earlier this week, ahead of the debut of a new trailer for Nightingale at The Game Awards this evening. They filled me in on how the game's blend of fairies and reality-hopping realmwalkers has progressed over the past year - and it turns out that players have had a lot to do with it. |

Siliconera Thursday, December 8, 2022 11:05 PM A world premiere trailer of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon appeared during The Game Awards 2022. FromSoftware is still the development team, and Bandai Namco will be the publisher. There is no CERO rating yet. This is the newest numbered title in the Armored Core series since Armored Core V launched in 2012. You can watch the trailer for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRyRv0bwH2o The trailer starts with a few shots of a wasteland before an Armored Core rises from the rubble. There are several scenes of them fighting each other or bombarding buildings. According to the description, you will be able to assemble your own original mecha and freely traverse three-dimensional maps. You will also be able to perform dynamic moves in action, between shooting from a distance or attacking from close range. The Armored Core series is a third-person shooter in which the player takes control of large combat robots called Armored Cores. You can fight against other pilots and obtain awards that way. It first began in 1997, with the first Armored Core appearing on the PlayStation. In 2018, FromSoftware hinted that it would be developing a new entry to the series, though there was no concrete information until now. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will come out on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam some time in 2023. Siliconera Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:50 PM Ahead of TGA 2022, it was confirmed Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida would attend. This lead to suspicion news about the game would appear. That turned out to be correct. At the event, the FFXVI release date appeared alongside a new Revenge trailer. People can find it on the PS5 on June 22, 2023. Here is the TGA 2022 FFXVI release date trailer.
Even before TGA 2022, plenty of FFXVI news came up. For example, we learned the game would be exclusive to the PS5 for six months after launch. Yoshida also confirmed a demo would appear ahead of the game's debut. Creative Director Kazutoyo Maehiro confirmed people won't need to hunt for any hidden Eikon summons. The Final Fantasy XVI release date is June 22, 2023. It will come to the PS5 first. After that exclusivity period expires, people could see it on other platforms. The same happened to FFVII Remake, which featured a PS4 exclusivity arrangement before eventually heading to the PS5 and PC. Siliconera Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:30 PM After more than two years of Early Access testing, Baldur's Gate 3 will finally get a full version release date. The 2022 Game Awards saw developer Larian Studios announce that the game will exit the Early Access period in August 2023. Check out the latest Baldur's Gate 3 trailer below, which shows the release date window. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOWGnC3h9WQ The newest trailer focuses on the story, where the player's character is infected with a "Mind Flayer tadpole," a parasite used by the Illithid, an extradimensional race of squid-faced predators. The player travels to and from Baldur's Gate, the legendary city of the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms setting, encountering allies and enemies. Characters from previous Baldur's Gate titles like Jaheira and Minsc also appear. Baldur's Gate 3 first entered Early Access in 2020. The first two games, released in 1998 and 2000, were developed by BioWare and Black Isle Studios. Overhaul Games rereleased the series in 2012 and 2013 as Enhanced Editions, featuring new content, characters, and user interfaces. The Enhanced Edition even got an entirely new expansion, Siege of Dragonspear. BG3 was developed by Larian Studios, developers of the Divinity series. Its mechanics take partial inspiration from the Divinity: Original Sin titles by adding more cooperative multiplayer elements and a fully turn-based combat system derived from the 5th Edition D&D rules (rather than the original games' "real-time with pause" mechanics). Baldur's Gate 3 is available on PC via Steam Early Access, and its release date will fall in August 2023. The official website includes a Collector's Edition physical bundle that includes a statue, art book, cloth map, character sheets, a custom metal D20 dice, and Magic: The Gathering booster pack. Check out Siliconera's preview from its first days in Early Access. The post TGA 2022: Baldur's Gate 3 Release Date Falls in August 2023 appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:20 PM After being teased (and later confirmed by Director Katsuhiro Harada) for The Game Awards 2022, Tekken news appeared. There was a new Tekken 8 trailer, which showed off several new gameplay features and its story. Many returning characters made appearances in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tXTWVncFP4 The gameplay of Tekken 8 will focus on "Aggressive" tactics, including attacks that shake the screen and destructible environments. The game will also have an all-new "Heat System" mechanic, which activates attacks with special moves and gives characters ability enhancements. In terms of story, Tekken 8 will be a continuation of the grudge matches between the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines. It will pick up where Tekken 7 left off. Several fan-favorite characters were shown in the new trailer. Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama, Paul Phoenix, King, Marshall Law, Lars Alexandersson, and Jack-8 will all be present in the game. Additionally, Jun Kazama, Jin's mother, will return after a long absence from the series. The upcoming entry in the hit fighting game series was likely first teased back in August 2022. Tekken 8 will release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam. A release date has not yet been announced. The goal is to reach Peach's castle. In the process, they run into lots of other Toads and Super Mario series level staples. Here's the video. Siliconera Thursday, December 8, 2022 10:00 PM Extremely OK Games (EXOK), developer of Celeste, have a new game in the works, due out in 2024. It's called Earthblade. It appears to take a more fantastical angle compared to Celeste. The game appeared in its first trailer at The Game Awards 2022. Check it out below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wafFds3Ppb0 The trailer shows Névoa, a young horned character waking up from slumber to meet a mysterious bard. The bard notices that Névoa "travels Fate", as well. The camera pans to reveal a detailed and atmospheric world, the ruins of an Earth long expired. The camera follows Névoa as they traverse the ruins and defeat various enemies. Névoa's also shown consuming some of the creatures they fight, perhaps for upgrades or health. The trailer fades to the Earthblade logo when the player arrives at a wooden frame that manifests some kind of reflection leading elsewhere. Players will travel the ruins of Earth in a quest to reassemble the lost history of the world. Besides the new game Earthblade and Celeste, EXOK Games also developed Towerfall, a multiplayer platform-action game. Celeste received critical acclaim, and was highlighted for accessibility features like an "Assist Mode" that allowed players to adjust game mechanics to their liking. Celeste won the Audience Award at the Independent Game Festival Awards, Action Game of the Year at the 22nd DICE Awards, and became a staple attraction at speedrunning events like Games Done Quick. Earthblade is in development for PC with a 2024 release window. The post TGA 2022: Celeste Developers' New Game is Earthblade appeared first on Siliconera. |

Siliconera Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:30 PM The 2022 Game Awards showed the official unveiling of unveiled Death Stranding 2, a follow-up to 2019's Death Stranding. Though not officially confirmed, actor and Death Stranding star Norman Reedus let slip that it was in production. The new trailer heavily features Fragile, played by actor Léa Seydoux. Check out the trailer below, which stresses that Death Stranding 2 is a working title. This could mean it'll have a different title closer to release. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr2yB93pIGw In the trailer, Fragile is shown playing with a baby, while the lullaby song sung by Cliff to Lou from Death Stranding plays in the background. Some emergency strikes, and Fragile escapes from her bunker with the baby. Mads Mikkelsen's voice as Cliff follows them. Later, Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges emerges into the light onboard Fragile's ship. Sam's hair has turned completely white, possibly from exposure to the "Timefall" rain that ages a person. Fragile invites Sam to join her crew, as a large carrier-like vessel emerges from the sea in front of a series of white cliffs. The trailer closes out with a sinister-looking group of masked people with Oradek scanners plays a rock remix of the lullaby theme. Other imagery from the trailer include a BB container containing what looks to be a BT, and a tentacled creature appearing in the place of Lou's BB container. Additionally, Kojima teased images and other hints about the game over the last several months. The most recent tease came less than 24 hours before the show proper, a tweet showing the silhouettes of three actors behind the text "How Come?" Actor Elle Fanning was previously confirmed to be involved with the project. https://twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/1600596136632279040 Death Stranding 2 is in development. Siliconera Thursday, December 8, 2022 9:18 PM There will be a demo for Forspoken available for the PS5 and Windows PC. A trailer for it appeared during TGA 2022, showing off some gameplay and scenes. It will take up 30 GB of storage space. You will be able to play five different objectives in the demo. Outside of that, you can use the demo time to explore the magical parkour Frey is capable of. You can watch the trailer for the demo here: https://twitter.com/thegameawards/status/1601034456013291521 News of the Forspoken demo appeared online even prior to the TGA 2022 stream. Some people noticed that information about it had appeared on the PSN store earlier on December 8, 2022. However, it was not until TGA 2022 that we got to see a trailer for it. The game was supposed to come out in May 2022, and then a delay pushed it to October 2022. However, there was another delay that caused the game to come out in early January 2023 instead. Previously, trailers and marketing for Forspoken showed off the magical parkour you can use to traverse the world. It is one of the game's main selling points. In October 2022, an entire trailer around it came out, showing off exploration skills you can use to get around Athia. Forspoken will come out on January 24, 2023 for the PS5 and Windows PC. The Forspoken demo will go live later tonight on December 8, 2022. However, it will only be available for the PlayStation 5, it seems. Siliconera Thursday, December 8, 2022 8:35 PM During The Game Awards 2022, a Genshin Impact commercial offered our first official in-game look at Yaoyao. The character first came up during early announcements and art, but didn't appear in the game proper. This is due to her apparently being a Dendro character, and the element not being in the game at launch. However, at the end of the latest commercial she makes a brief cameo. This is the full ad that appeared at the event. Here is an isolated video clip, which was captured and shared by HDRsaputra on YouTube. At the 1:23 minute mark, Yaoyao makes her Genshin Impact debut. She's in Liyue and appears to be at the docks near some of the ships. She apparently sees somebody coming to shore, then runs off excitedly. It doesn't confirm her element or weapon. A few Genshin Impact characters mention Yaoyao in their voice lines. For example, Beidou notes that she likes to come onboard her The Crux ships. Ganyu mentioned even she tries to keep an eye on her. Ningguang talks about her love for seafood. She also is strongly connected to Xiangling, as she was learning from the Wanmin chef. Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The current new characters are the five-star Wanderer (Scaramouche) and four-star Faruzan. It felt so random, so I'm uncertain if it's tied to my character's level or campai... |

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, December 8, 2022 11:06 PM I thought the day might never come. FromSoftware has been thoroughly ensconced within the flames of the Souls series (and related titles) for so long, that it seemed like the venerable studio had forgotten about its past bread and butter. There's no gameplay, but we do see the remnants of a world in chaos and the Cores that rule the day amongst the ashes. This look at the series is darker and grittier than in past entries, which adds some credence to the aforementioned rumors. But I... |
