PCGamesN Wednesday, December 14, 2022 11:51 AM Looking for a Genshin Impact tier list? There are currently 59 Genshin Impact characters available, so there's no shortage of candidates for your dream team. But with so many different weapons, elementals, talents, ascension bonuses, and constellation upgrades, finding your favourites can be challenging. Don't let the placement of the characters on our Genshin Impact tier list deter you from pulling on the next character banner. While base stats and elemental abilities are important, the value of a character also depends on personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. That being said, if your favourite Genshin Impact character is in C tier or below, you may struggle to get past some of the more challenging Spiral Abyss floors. Don't worry too much if your favourite character is on one of the lower tiers; you can still make it work with our recommended Genshin Impact builds. In general, being on a high tier means that the character is the best Genshin Impact character in their role, is not too difficult to build, and performs well regardless of teammates. Being on a lower tier means that there are better alternatives, or the character needs a very specific build or team to shine. Just to note, the characters are not ranked within their own tier, and with that out of the way, let's take a look at our ranking of characters in our Genshin Impact tier list. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 14, 2022 11:09 AM Just how long is High on Life? The narrative game from Justin Roiland's Squanch Games takes you on the journey of a bounty hunter as you finally find your calling in life. Accompanied by some sentient weapons that might remind you of your favourite Rick and Morty or Solar Opposites characters, you probably won't want the story to end, but it's still useful to know how long you'll be roaming the cosmos. As with most story games, High on Life won't require too much of your time to complete but will offer some side quests and additional adventures if you want to prolong your stay in space. This colourful, planetary adventure has been likened to as "Metroid Prime, but funny", but do check out our High on Life review in progress for our impressions. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 14, 2022 10:52 AM Wondering if you should stab Gene in High on Life? There is just one opportunity for you to do this rather despicable deed, which comes as soon as you return to the house after your first proper mission in the Slums. There's a similar moment in the FPS game just a few minutes beforehand when, after beating 9-Torg, you have the opportunity to kill 5-Torg. However, the difference here is that your knife has wanted to plunge into Gene's sides so much that he never shuts up about it. Again, you may be thinking there are consequences for doing so, such as losing a valuable ally willing to help you on your journey, but it's far more mundane than that. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 14, 2022 11:21 AM Trying to work out if you should kill 5-Torg in High on Life? You only have a single opportunity to slay the cloned sister of 9-Torg, and it's shortly after the first boss fight in the game. It's a missable moment, but as it turns out, it's one you may wish to not bother doing. There's a similar moment a few minutes later in the FPS game where you can stab Gene with the knife. However, that moment is different because you can get a secret achievement for being a bit of a dick. This choice, on the other hand, is one of the more disappointing ones. A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events. There are usually a number of Genshin Impact events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies. Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 14, 2022 10:21 AM Ever ask yourself 'How much have I spent on League of Legends?' Riot Games' hugely successful MOBA is technically a free game, but if you ask any avid fan if that's the case, you'll no doubt receive a wry laugh in response. The 160-strong champion pool is diverse and wonderful; each character can be purchased with currency earned while playing - the premium cosmetics, however, are bought with real-world money. These cosmetics - skins, mainly - can be purchased directly using something called RP, purchasable in bulk using your hard-earned cash. These skins change the base look of the character you're playing, with premium cosmetics adding completely new effects, voice lines, and animations. There's also a battle pass that can be bought using RP, this rewards you the more you play, so may seem like the most efficient way to spend your money. So while the MOBA is technically a free PC game, you can see just how easily it can sway you into parting with your money. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 14, 2022 10:07 AM The High on Life release date is here, and Squanch Games' latest oddball title has arrived under a barrage of mixed reviews. In High on Life, Justin Roiland, the co-creator of hit animated series Rick & Morty, takes players to a strange future full of talking guns and "an alien cartel that wants to get high off humanity". As you can probably tell, this is certainly not your typical FPS game. Since the wacky FPS game's reveal during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase 2022, expectations were split wildly between fans of Roiland's divisive cartoons and, well, everyone else. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, December 14, 2022 12:00 PM Earlier this year I watched a very short presentation of Inkbound, an upcoming turn-based roguelike from Shiny Shoe, the devs behind deckbuilder Monster Train. I thought it had potential, but it's difficult to determine just how much potential something has when all you've got to go on is footage they'd prepared earlier, like a cottage pie from a Sunday Brunch oven. I'm excited to report that I spent over an hour with the game alongside Shiny Shoe's CEO Mark Cooke and creative director Andrew Krausnick, who were not only lovely but put up with my incredible ability to fumble my turns. Still, I was impressed by how the game's speedy combat matched its roguelike needs, as it pushed us through even the trickiest of scenarios - as opposed to other strategy games which can feel like trudging through a sea of glue. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, December 14, 2022 11:45 AM Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is not for the squeamish. Fatshark's spiritual follow-up to Vermintide and Vermintide 2 is ferocious, violent, and involves a whole lotta gore. It's a grisly co-op multiplayer where instead of brawling your way through torrents of gross rat humanoids, you and your rag-tag team are now up against hordes of scabby zombies all in favour of a Imperial fascist overlord. Several of the RPS Treehouse folk have jumped into the fray, carving their way through Darktide's industrial world of Gothic factories and towering cathedrals. The verdict? Uninspiring progression systems and short, repetitive missions aside, Darktide still remains a bone-crunching gorefest best enjoyed with pals. Preferably ones with strong stomachs. James: I was actually braced to bounce off this, in the same way I bounced off Vermintide 2 and its monotonously melee-focused ratman slaughter. Nope – I'm 22 hours in and not even close to abandoning interest in my greasy crew of Imperial screwups. I think it might be because Darktide strikes a finer balance of slicing and shooting? Like there's more of a dynamism to horde fights when you're switching between the two. It rarely feels like I'm just swing, swing, swinging, unless I have a new Power Sword I want to try out. |

Logan is an NPC who was mentioned in My Time at Portia and is a wanted criminal. He joins in Hey Old Pals Part 2 – The Secret Behind the Mask. (The first part of that update launched in November 2022.) Logan is a bandit in My Time at Sandrock. After his father Howlett died, Logan left Sandrock and began stealing from trains and engaging in illegal activities. While his past hasn't really been explored prior to this, the new update will offer an opportunity to cross paths with him and find out more about his motivations. Here's a teaser video focusing on the new Logan storyline in My Time at Sandrock, though other characters appear in passing. Siliconera Wednesday, December 14, 2022 10:30 AM Nintendo introduced a new Fire Emblem Engage character named Jade. The official Fire Emblem Twitter shared art and video clips detailing the personality and qualities of the new game-original lady knight. Check it out below. https://twitter.com/FireEmblemJP/status/1602939402225061894 In Fire Emblem Engage, Jade is a royal knight from the nation of Brodia, a militaristic kingdom led by the character Morion the Conquerer. Jade is a retainer to Diamant, Brodia's crown prince and one of Fire Emblem Engage's Lord-class characters. Jade is described as calm and level-headed, taking her duties seriously. Her general reticence makes people think she's cold-hearted, but she enjoys cheery things and good humor. Jade meditates when confronted with a problem. Check out a clip from Fire Emblem Engage of Jade in conversation with Amber, who was introduced earlier. https://twitter.com/FireEmblemJP/status/1602941009477832705 In the clip, Jade asks Amber to tell her more stories, as she intends to use them as a reference for a novel that she's writing. Amber obliges, boasting about his prowess riding alpacas. Unfortunately, a live demonstration isn't possible, as alpacas don't live in the current area. https://twitter.com/FireEmblemJP/status/1602940009346060288 Jade starts the game in the fortified "Axe Armor" class. The Axe Armor is described as a "heavily armored infantry unit that wields an axe." Axe Armors have high defense ratings, but are vulnerable to magical damage. The demo clip shows Jade in heavy armor, with a shield and one-handed battle axe. Fire Emblem Engage launches on the Nintendo Switch on January 20, 2023. Pre-orders are open. Siliconera Wednesday, December 14, 2022 10:00 AM The upcoming HD ports of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden will be a bit more convenient to play. The Persona HD ports will receive features related to saves, difficulty, and re-experiencing key moments. Notably, there will be a new Persona 4 Golden Social Link feature. [Thanks, Famitsu!] In the HD port of Persona 3 Portable, Atlus and Sega are adding the ability to change the game's difficulty at any point once the game opens up. Additionally, the extra difficulty levels unlocked by completing the game once will be selectable from a fresh start. Persona 4 Golden's HD port will get an "Album" function for Social Link events, allowing players to replay events they've unlocked. During the event, they can also choose different dialog options to see the different reactions. Persona 3 Portable is based on the PSP edition of Persona 3, which was originally a PS2 game. P3P is notable for adding a female protagonist, with alternative Social Link connections, as well as having some changes to the story compared to Persona 3 FES, the enhanced edition released on the PS2. Persona 4 Golden was the enhanced edition of Persona 4, and was a PS Vita-exclusive until it launched on PC via Steam in 2020. P4G added a new Social Link, and additional content, like new locations, combat moves, Personas, and activities. The Persona HD ports were announced for contemporary platforms earlier this year. Their release date is set for January 19, 2023 on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In Japan they'll cost 1,980 Yen (about $15 USD), but will be accessible through Xbox Game Pass.
