"You" being the players who completed the metagame's last Major Order and successfully pumped the Terminid supercolony of Meridia full of an experimental "Dark Fluid" - which Super-Earth, incidentally, pinched from the Illuminate faction during the First Galactic War, aka Helldivers 1. Now, Meridia has imploded and become a radiant, wailing, purple-fringed disc of pure nothingness, with triumphant players rudely ejected from orbit via emergency hyperspace jump, but subsequently allowed to return and gaze into the dark heart of their victory. Great work, Inferno-plungers. I'm sure the consequences of this will be neither cosmic nor horrible. |

It was a no-frills piece of Gulf War fanfic, complete with George Bush ending cameo, and a well-made shooter that used to drive me nuts on Sega Mega Drive. Megacopter: Blades Of The Goddess is Desert Strike, but heavily Blood-Dragonified and with a big dollop of Airwolf to boot. Here, the enemy troops are naughty Reptoid aliens, the writing is scattershot-satirical (upgrades are bought with pizza tokens) and your helicopter houses the soul of a blood-drinking "AZ-TECH" goddess. Is it a nuanced parody of the Strike series? It doesn't feel like it. Did I enjoy the demo? Yes. Does it have a crawling tentacle boss called Queen Oildusa? Also yes, and will you please stop asking questions so I can write the rest of this article. |

Yen Press announced an original Dark Souls manga adaptation called Dark Souls: Redemption. It will feature an original story inspired by the game, and the first volume of it will debut on August 27, 2024.
There are few details about what the series will involve. However, the main characters will be a warrior accompanying a nameless woman into Lordran. The Gray Cinders are also mentioned.
Here's a look at the first cover for the first volume in the new series. While pre-orders aren't live for the adaptation yet, Yen Press did open an official listing for the series.
While the Dark Souls: Redemption is an original creation with a story by French author Julien Blondel and art by Shonen, it isn't the first manga adaptation of a FromSoftware series. Yen Press previously picked up Kadokawa's Japanese Elden Ring manga. It's a comedic look at the adventures of Aseo in The Lands Between. Titan also released a Bloodborne comic series.
Volume 1 of the Dark Souls: Redemption manga will launch on August 27, 2024. The original video game is available on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, while the remaster is out on the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC.

It's a big year for Monster Hunter as a series, as we've not only started to see more Monster Hunter Wilds news, but both Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2 are heading to more platforms. To learn more about the latest remaster and port, Siliconera got a chance to talk with Producer Yoshihiro Akira and Art Director Takahiro Kawano about the games getting a new chance at fresh audiences.
Jenni Lada: Monster Hunter Stories is about eight years old now. What sorts of challenges did that pose when preparing it for the Switch, PS4, and PC?
Yoshihiro Akira: Because Monster Hunter Stories was an older title, it took a lot of effort to bring it to current platforms. Programmers had to decipher the source code to develop the game. The biggest problem we faced was the user interface. The Nintendo 3DS version had two screens, including a touch screen, and even the mobile version was designed for touch controls. We have rebuilt the controls based on the user interface of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin so that Monster Hunter Stories can be played comfortably on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam.
In addition, in order to allow players who have played the game in the past to enjoy it again, we created a fully voiced version of the game to deepen immersion in the scenario, which was well received, and a Museum mode containing design artwork to help users fall in love with the series even more.
It was already confirmed that Title Update 1.20 and 1.30 will be included in the Monster Hunter Stories Switch, PS4, and PC versions. Will any other quality of life features inspired by the sequel appear in the game?
Akira: The user interface was rebuilt based on the controls of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. In addition, we have incorporated features to make it easier to play based on our experience with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, such as gathering materials while riding your monstie and the Quick Heal.
How deep into the archives did you go to prepare its Museum Mode, and which piece of insight into its development are you most excited to have preserved for people to see?
Akira: Fortunately, the archives were well organized and preserved at the time, so it made things a lot easier. If you visit the Museum after playing the story, you will have a better understanding of the character design ideas that sadly did not make it into the game and the images that were created to design the maps, allowing users to enjoy the Museum mode even more.
In particular, the map images will give you a better understanding of the many wonderful designs that were used to create the world of Monster Hunter Stories. Please also take a look at the comments made by the staff at that time!
How will the amiibo-exclusive monsters be handled for the Monster Hunter Stories remaster, given the amiibo for the 3DS game never appeared outside Japan?
Akira: The amiibo functions will be carried over as is. The Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin amiibo can also be used to acquire content. What you can get though....you will have to wait and see!
Likewise, how will the Monster Hunter Stories 2 amiibo bonuses be handled on the PS4?
Akira: It is not possible to obtain this with the PlayStation 4 version.
Which monster design for Monster Hunter Stories and its sequel are you most proud of? Likewise, which Monstie do you wish you could have included in the series?
Takahiro Kawano: The Monster Hunter Stories series features monsters from the Monster Hunter franchise, and while we rarely design new monsters, we did create original monsters for the final bosses of both games. I can't go into detail about this due to spoilers, but please check them out for yourself! A monster I'd like to introduce to the series would be a very large monster like Lao-Shan Lung. It would be difficult to incorporate it into an RPG style game, but I'm sure it would be fun if we could make it happen.
What would you like to potentially do in, say, a Monster Hunter Stories 3 if given the chance to make it?
Akira: I think the core being a Monster Hunter title that is easy to play for those who are not good at action games and those who like turn-based RPGs will remain the same. It would be nice to be able to evolve the series in such a way that we can keep the strong elements and change things that need to be changed.
The Monster Hunter Stories remaster will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC on June 14, 2024. It is also available on the 3DS and mobile devices. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin releases on the PS4 on June 14, 2024, and it is available now on the Switch and PC.

Secretlab revealed its Titan Evo FFXIV gaming chair, which includes three magnetic role patches that attach to the back. It starts at $624, pre-orders are open, and it is expected to ship on November 11, 2024.
Secretlab noted that this chair uses the Neo Hybrid Leatherette fabric in navy blue with gold accents. The front and back both feature the Secretlab and FFXIV logos. The back also shows the Crystal Tower, while the front has crystals along the side. On the front, right side of the chair is the magnetic patch placement space, which is in the center of the gold meteor. Every chair comes with DPS, healer, and tank patches someone can affix to that spot to show their current job type.

Note that the $624 price is the basic one. This can increase based on a number of factors. For example, there are small, regular, and XL size chairs. The armrest tops can be changed. There will also be FFXIV edition memory foam lumbar pillows for $59 each. Those feature Fat Cat or Alpha the Chocobo designs. (Those pillows can also be purchased separately.)

Square Enix recently opened a new Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail site for the expansion, and now there is a batch of new FFXIV CG character artwork there. The Media section's Artwork area, 11 new items appeared to bring the total count up to 36.
The new pieces of FFXIV Dawntrail CG character artwork seem to show individuals who belong to the Disciples of the Hand and Land. This means we can see a vary obvious Botanist, Culinarian, Fisher, and Miner. A number of different races are represented as well, with one looking like a female Hrothgar. That's the new one joining in the expansion.

In addition to the new FFXIV Dawntrail CG character artwork, there is also one new image of a new area in the expansion. It shows the Shaaloani region in Tural. This is one of the many new locations people will get to explore once 7.0 arrives.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, the Dawntrail expansion debuts on July 2, 2024. The next Letter from the Producer Live will appear on June 14, 2024.

During a Q&A stream on Twitch on June 2, 2024, Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley shot down fans hoping for a new announcement concerning the Kingdom Hearts franchise at the 2024 event. Summer Games Fest is set to air on Friday June 7, 2024. (Thanks, Genki_JPN on X!)
Keighley took to Twitch to answer some questions from viewers over on The Game Awards' official channel. When responding to multiple inquiries about the presence of a Kingdom Hearts announcement at Summer Game Fest 2024, he said this:
You can watch Keighley's Q&A stream in full over on the Game Awards Twitch channel, with the comment about Kingdom Hearts at Summer Game Fest 2024 appearing at around 00:28:50. While not an official proclamation, Keighley's organizational role at Summer Game Fest make his words a pretty definitive statement on the rumors, so appears Kingdom Hearts fans will need to wait until another event to learn more about a new installment in the beloved series. The next mainline game in the series is set to be Kingdom Hearts 4, which was announced back in April 2022. Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link is also in the works for mobile devices. More recently, Square Enix announced updates would be coming to Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Summer Game Fest 2024 is set to air via Twitch and Youtube on Friday June 7, 2024, at 2 pm PT or 5 pm ET.

As part of the Street Fighter 6 first anniversary celebrations, Capcom revealed a new Fighting Pass and that the most-used characters are Ken, Ryu, and Cammy. There is also a Battle Hub Extreme Battle Tournament, a sale on items you can get with Fighter Coins, you can earn more Drive Tickets than usual, and some cabinets award double Kudos.
Ken, Ryu, and Cammy came up as the most-used Street Fighter 6 characters in the official anniversary infographic. Ken was most popular, as he was used 265,678,704 times by players. Ryo was in second, as he was used 171,578,448 times. Cammy rounded out the top three with 159,248,536 uses. All those figures didn't include Arcade Mode numbers, however.
However, Cammy was the only one of those three Street Fighter 6 characters to also be among the Most Beloved Masters. She was the one whose bond level was most maxed out, and players fed her 1,830,451 Jellied Eels. Chun-Li came in second, and Juri in third. However, while Ken wasn't in the top three, he was the most popular male Master character.

As for the 1st Anniversary Fighting Pass in Street Fighter 6, there's a trailer showing all the new items. Street Fighter 2 Turbo: Hyper Fighting is being added. there are also new avatar gear pieces, emotes, photo frames, stickers, titles, and pieces of music.
Street Fighter 6 is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC, and the game is being used to promote the Steam Deck in Japan.

Kuro Game released a new Wuthering Waves Jiyan video, and this one features voice actor Alex Jordan discussing the character. He refers to his "effortless, cool power" and also discussed his backstory.
The Jiyan video begins with Jordan explaining how he is a cool authority figure. As he does, gameplay footage of the character appears as well. After bringing up his opinion on the appearance, he mentions how Jiyan was a doctor before becoming the warrior he is. Jordan also says players should use him as their "main."
As a reminder, people can only get Jiyan in Wuthering Waves for a limited time, due to him being the first character on the temporary banner. He will only be available until June 12, 2024. However, gacha games like this tend to eventually begin rerunning past character banners. So odds are in a few months he'll return for people to attempt to recruit again.
People won't need to wait too long for the next limited. character, however. Kuro Game changed its schedule. As such, people can start pulling for the character Yinlin starting on June 6, 2024.
Wuthering Waves is available on PCs and mobile devices, and Jiyan is a focus character on the latest limited banner until June 12, 2024.

Capcom revealed profiles for some of the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds characters. In particular, Alma the handler and Gemma the smithy were introduced.
Alma is basically the Guild Receptionist character for Monster Hunter Wilds. So she's the equivalent of Handler in Monster Hunter: World or Chichae in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. As noted in the social media reveal, she won't just remain at the hub. She'll actually join you when you adventure.

As for Gemma, she won't be heading out on adventures. She is our Research Commission Smithy blacksmith. Players will need to bring monster parts to her to craft and upgrade equipment.

In addition to these two Monster Hunter Wilds profiles for characters, Capcom recently shared a peek at this installment's Felyne model. It showed the cat-like character all dressed up, wielding a hammer and fishing pole, and ready to travel.

Monster Hunter Wilds will come to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam in 2025.

Every year, Nintendo holds a nationwide tour in the US that involves an array of Switch game demo stations, and the 2024 Play Nintendo installment begins on June 13, 2024. The first stop will be Salt Lake City, Utah, and the official website is live for people who want to check in on the events.
As usual, this is a free event. It also tends to be held at malls. People can visit, test out Switch game demos, take photos with standees and occasionally characters, and typically pick up brochures or freebies. This year, visiting event stations can net people bracelets or a two-week trial of Nintendo Switch Online.
Nintendo already shared an initial list of games that will be available to test at each stop. All of them, aside from Luigi's Mansion 2 HD and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, are immediately available.

Developer HoYoverse announced that Version 2.3 of Honkai: Star Rail will be previewed during a Special Program that will air on June 7, 2024. at 4:30am PT/7:30am ET The stream will give us a glimpse of the new story missions and events, as well as upcoming characters Jade and Firefly, on YouTube and Twitch.
The stream also gives us what is likely the title of the Version 2.3 patch, "Farewell Penacony." Owlbert is once again set to present, and it seems he will be joined by the voice actors for Acheron and upcoming characters Jade and Firefly, who are expected to become available in after the update. A new set of Trailblaze missions will be previewed, which will wrap up the storyline of the Penacony area and perhaps reveal the next destination for the Astral Express. Beyond that, we can also expect the reveal of some new events and, of course, the all-important codes for free Stellar Jades for use in the game's gacha.

HoYoverse also recently shared a new calendar wallpaper for the month of June, featuring Star Rail characters Himeko and Pom-Pom. Meanwhile, Good Smile Company revealed a new Nendoroid of character Dan Heng wearing his modern outfit previously seen in promo material.

Larian Studios already announced official modding support for Baldur's Gate 3, but now the mod support closed alpha is about to begin. The developer noted on Steam that some modders were invited to take part in this phase to offer feedback and test things out, ahead of a wider closed beta.
An expected timeline for the Patch 7 testing appeared alongside the announcement. First, only modders Larian selected are currently testing out the Baldur's Gate 3 tools at the moment. The goal is for them to adapt mods they already made. In July 2024, 1,000 more people can register for a closed beta. This won't be limited to mod creators. Anyone can play and test the mods people make. Then in September 2024, Patch 7 will finally launch.
While there is progress on the official Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 modding support, Larian did experience another Deluxe Edition delay. The developer noted the North American PS5 copies got bumped back again. The new expected release for that collector's edition is now July 2024, even though people in other regions got their copies.
Baldur's Gate 3 is available for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the mod support closed alpha is now live ahead of a July 2024 closed beta.
