Hyte FFXIV Pictomancer and Viper PC Cases Appear

Square Enix and Hyte announced that the company's two FFXIV PC cases based on the Dawntrail Pictomancer and Viper jobs showed up at PAX West 2024. Both were at the Square Enix booth at the event. There's no word on a release date for them yet.

Both the FFXIV Pictomancer and Viper PC cases use the Hyte Y40 model. Each one features official art of the classes on both the front and side panels. The front panel also features the Dawntrail expansion logo across the bottom. We've seen both of the designs on the front of the cases in the Illustrations section of the Media section on the official site before.

Here's the official announcement showing off both of the designs:

There is currently a contest running on Hyte's official site for the Viper version of this FFXIV Y40 PC case. Until September 12, 2024, people in the US and Canada can attempt to win it for performing certain social media-related actions for entries. People attending PAX West can also visit the Hyte booth to find a "secret code" for 10 extra entries.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. PAX West 2024 is being held in Seattle, Washington, and it ends on September 2, 2024.

Eiyuden Chronicle Marisa DLC Delayed With No New Release Date

Rabbit and Bear took to Kickstarter to announce that the Eiyuden Chronicle Marisa DLC scenario, which originally had an August 2024 launch window, is delayed. There is no new release date or window for it, which means that the roadmap released in May 2024 is now outdated.

The developer noted this wasn't due to actual work being done on the DLC. Instead, it cited a distribution issue as the cause for the add-on not being released as expected. It noted that people who crowdfunded Eiyuden Chronicle would be getting the Marisa DLC story for free. So in order to get and send those codes, it was delayed for everyone. The announcement also noted these codes will be sent out before a "general release."

There are three campaigns total planned. The first is Marisa's. Her tale will be followed by one looking at Seign's side of the story. His campaign initially had a September 2024 launch window. After that, the Elden Magicks Markus campaign that won a vote from players will appear. We'll have to wait and see if it appears in October 2024 as initially planned, following this latest delay.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and there's no updated release window for the delayed Marisa DLC campaign.

Final Fantasy XIV Chat Bubble, Strategy Board Features Being Tested

During the PAX West 2024 Final Fantasy XIV "Putting the 'U' in UI" panel, chat bubble and Strategy Board features were teased. Global Community Producer Toshio "Foxclon" Murouchi and Lead UI Designer Kei Odagiri showed first screenshots of both in the testing phase. The former would offer an additional communication option, while the later would help with strategizing for fights.

The first screenshot showed three different chat bubble examples in Final Fantasy XIV. So in addition to seeing the messages in chat in the lower right bottom of the screen, you would see chat bubbles over every player's head. Odagiri mentioned that Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida had been hinting at the possibility of this feature appearing in-game prior to this latest reveal, but also said that there are still "hurdles" before it could show up.

As for the Strategy Board Final Fantasy XIV screenshot, it is confirmed as an upcoming 7.X patch update. Once in-game, people can arrange icons and brainstorm strategies for certain fights and raids on a map. The image in particular showed the "editing" screen, which allows people to arrange icons, AOE attacks, and other planning icons.

Here are both of those screenshots. Odagiri noted the localized version of the Strategy Board one didn't show up, as it was added at the last minute.

You can watch the full Final Fantasy XIV panel below, with the portion discussing the possible chat bubble addition comes up at the 47 minute mark and the White Board Editing after it.

Final Fantasy XIV and the new Dawntrail expansion are available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

New The Legend of Zelda Timeline Is at Nintendo Live 2024

Nintendo Live is being held in Sydney, Australia between August 31, 2024 and September 1, 2024, and a newly updated The Legend of Zelda timeline appeared going over the series' in-game history. As pointed out by  Vooks, it changes the position of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. [Thanks, Vooks and Wario64!]

The change this time is that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are now in their own segregated area outside of the existing The Legend of Zelda games in this new timeline. They both appear in a section behind "The Hero is Triumphant" timeline in the lower half of the Nintendo infographic, but are cordoned off from the games in the Child Era and Adult Era timelines.

Here's the tweet from Wario64 showing the new The Legend of Zelda History and timeline.

https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1829703963794624594

All of the other games remain in their existing spots in the timeline. So The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword remains the very first entry, which is followed by The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. After Ocarina of Time, the timeline splits into "The Hero is Defeated" and "The Hero is Triumphant" branches. "The Hero is Triumphant" part of the timeline then further splits into the Child Era and Adult Era.

The next The Legend of Zelda game, which is Echoes of Wisdom, doesn't appear on the board. This means following its September 2024 release, we will likely see the timeline updated again.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will come to the Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024.
