Sweet Transit gets electrifying new update and train-filled DLC

The older I get the more I dream of train sets. Maybe it's something hardwired into the DNA of many of us but somehow the idea of watching miniature trains is getting more appealing with each passing year. I've often sated that desire with classics like Transport Tycoon and now Sweet Transit is filling that gap in my life. This pure expression of building huge rail networks just got even better, thanks to an electrifying update and a ton of new DLC trains.

Dead Island 2's new horde mode is the experience it always needed

As much as I loved the semi-open world exploration and questlines in Dead Island 2's base game, I've always felt like it was missing an experience that truly put its brutal, gory combat and wild weapon crafting and upgrading on a pedestal. Well, it just showed off its upcoming Neighborhood Watch horde mode for the first time, and I think this might well be it. The mode will be arriving soon in a huge update - the release of which coincides with a new Ultimate Edition of the game.

Apex Legends finally caves and brings back this highly-requested mode

There's been no shortage of excellent new game modes over the last couple of seasons of Apex Legends. From the return of Solos, to the introduction of Quads, to the addition of Revival modes that give you multiple chances to respawn, there's been a lot going on. However, one stalwart game mode has become a casualty of all this experimentation: Duos. Well, almost four months on from when it was last seen in the FPS game, Apex Legends is finally bringing Duos back, and you haven't got much longer to wait.

Warhammer 40k Space Marine sees Steam spike thanks to sequel's success

Everyone's talking about Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 right now and for good reason - it's getting plaudits from nearly everywhere, its player numbers are stunning, and people are just loving smashing Tyranids into goop. I can't help but look back 13 years, however, and stare wistfully at the original Warhammer 40k Space Marine game, remembering some of the smashing times I had in it - literally, as the Thunder Hammer was my weapon of choice. It seems I'm not alone, as the launch of the sequel has given its predecessor a decent bump in player numbers.

Next ESO update gives PvP some love with new battlegrounds and modes

It's probably fair to say that if you're into PvP in your MMOs, the Elder Scrolls Online isn't your first port of call. Generally players dive into Tamriel for the lore, world, quests, and the weird stuff you find along the way, with PvP being a distant consideration. There is a dedicated core of PvPers, however, and they haven't been eating very well recently. That is all set to change, as update 44 for the game will launch soon and players will be waving goodbye to one PvP mode, and hello to another.

Black Ops 6 beta smashes several Call of Duty records

Prior to the Black Ops 6 beta, I was quietly optimistic that it would turn out to be one of the best new Call of Duty titles in years. Now that the beta has wrapped, I'm more confident than ever that BO6 is going to be a CoD to remember. It seems I'm not the only one, as Treyarch has just revealed that the Black Ops 6 beta was the biggest in the FPS franchise's history, which is certainly a good omen for its full launch in a few weeks' time.
