One of the most well-known principles of theatrical storytelling is widely referred to as "Chekhov's gun." The principle suggests that if some element is introduced to a story, even in a casual, offhand way, by the end, it had better prove significant. Or, as it's often summed up, if a gun shows up at some point in…

How much have I spent on LoL?

8/10/2024 The Riot support page for finding money spent is still showing as 'under construction'. We will update this page once it is back up and running. Fortunately, there is an alternative Riot support ticket method that only takes a couple of extra clicks - a method we've also outlined below.

How do you see how much you have spent on League of Legends? Riot Games' hugely successful MOBA is technically a free game, but if you ask any avid fan if that's the case, you'll no doubt receive a wry laugh in response. The champion pool is diverse and wonderful; each character can be purchased with currency earned while playing. Premium cosmetics, however, are bought with real-world money.

These League of Legends skins and other cosmetics can be purchased directly using an in-game currency called RP. RP itself, though, must be purchased with your hard-earned cash. LoL skins change the base look of the character you're playing, with premium cosmetics adding new effects, voice lines, and animations. Then there's the battle pass that can be bought using RP, too. So, while League of Legends is technically one of the best free PC games around, you can see just how easily it can sway you into parting with your money. This guide will give you the information needed to find out exactly how much you've spent in League of Legends - you just might not like the answer when you get it.

This new Intel gaming CPU is an old chip in disguise, according to leak

It looks as though a new Intel gaming CPU for laptops is actually based on the company's last-gen tech, according to a benchmark leak that's shown up in the Geekbench Results Browser. The listing shows a new Intel Core 7 250H processor, but unlike Intel's other Core 200-series CPUs, this chip appears to be based on the aging Raptor Lake architecture used in Intel's 13th and 14th-gen Core CPUs.

The new lineup of Intel Arrow Lake gaming CPUs for the desktop is expected to launch in the near future, but we've already seen the first Core 200 chips in the form of the Intel Lunar Lake platform. So far, Intel has distinguished its Raptor Lake laptop CPUs by using the old Core i-series branding on chips, while its Meteor Lake CPUs use the Core 100-series names. However, the new Intel Core 7 250H looks like it's a 200-series chip only in name.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Steam update makes it worth playing again

Assassin's Creed Shadows might have been pushed back, but Ubisoft's tentpole RPG and stealth series is far from silent. AC Mirage is about to hit Steam, the mysterious Hexe is still in the works, and now, without any hint or fanfare, Assassin's Creed Valhalla has gotten a significant update. Originally released in 2020, the Viking variation on Ubisoft's open-world formula is maybe the most expansive Assassin's Creed game of all time. Personally, I remain a Black Flag guy (I also like Assassin's Creed 3, despite its many flaws), but if you've never played Valhalla before, or you're a veteran searching for an excuse for another run through, a sizable new update provides the ideal reason.

Let's run through the big setbacks: The Lamplighters League, which we overall liked, was a $22 million financial flop - Paradox have now parted ways with creators Harebrained Studios. Cities Skylines 2 should have been a victory lap, after the success of the first game, but it launched with severe bugs and performance issues. Prison Architect 2, another follow-up to a hit game, has been delayed indefinitely, and Paradox have split from developers Double Eleven. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is borderline vapourware: originally announced in 2019 with Hardsuit Labs at the helm, it's currently in the hands of The Chinese Room, and was recently delayed for the umpteenth time into 2025.

And then there's the abrupt cancellation of Life By You, a life management sim designed to compete directly with The Sims 4, and the closure of its creators Paradox Tectonic. Writing-down the development of Life By You cost Paradox around 208 million krona, or $19.2 million. It was the primary contributor to a 90% decrease in the company's operating profit for the second quarter of 2024, versus the same quarter in 2023.

It's a stubborn little beggar, but the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti's pricing has been dragged down enough in recent months that it's now a far tastier prospect than it was at launch. Now, the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale has a twin-fan Asus model down to £340 in the UK – the lowest this particular graphics card has ever been, and as far as I can tell, the least you'd have to pay for a brand-new RTX 4060 Ti in the current market.

Traveller's Hymn is a top-down, grid-based, open-world adventure game (and breathe), set in a dark fantasy land. The tileset is lovely, as are the little dialogue boxes and menus and the gentle bob of your backpack-ridden character as they walk. Basically, it looks like it's worth everyone's time, particularly because there's one big twist here - it's entirely free.

I'm acutely aware someone on RPS, usually me, ends up dealsposting about the Samsung Pro Plus every time there's a big hardware sale going on. As there currently is, with Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days having returned to town. But don't let my complete lack of original thinking overshadow two simple facts: one, this is still the best microSD card for the Steam Deck, and two, the 512GB model very nearly half price on both sides of the Atlantic. That's £38 (down from £74) in the UK, and $40 (down from $76) in the US.

One of the more compelling arguments for gaming graphics degrowth is that all those extreme-fidelity moss textures and Master Chief helmet dents are producing some horrifically engorged installation sizes. That's a recipe for an SSD upgrade, and if it's space you're after, then Amazon Prime Big Deal Days has the 4TB Crucial P3 Plus on some big discounts. It's down from £250 to just £192 in the UK, and down from $360 to $210 in the US.

Tiny deck builder Combo Critters exhibits the winning combination common to both small games and radical breakfast cereals - it's very crunchy, but also bright, sugary and moreish. If Thaddius Cornflakes had recommended struggling families play Combo Critters instead of eating Cookie Crisp for dinner, I imagine the backlash would have been far more reserved. Cookie Crisp tastes like like someone poured Splenda on a packing peanut fished out from a puddle. Combo Critters, though? Pretty tasty, and also free from Itch here.

It's time for (yet) another of Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days, days of big Prime deals that have deals on days for Prime. I don't know anymore, this is like the third or fourth one this year. But I do know a good gaming keyboard when I see one, and this latest sale has the lovely Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL down from £140 to £119. Its first UK discount since launch, no less.

No game protagonist is more willing to stick his hand down a toilet than James Sunderland. Why is he doing this? You would have to ask him or the psychiatrist he badly requires. And it's unlikely he'd explain himself. This isn't the type of story in which the protagonist has difficulty accepting the existence of horrors, nor struggles with the surreality of what he needs to do to get through a locked door. In the opening minutes, James finds a well with a glowing red square floating inside, stares into it (it saves your game), then makes a calm remark about the odd sensation he feels, and moves on. The human corpses that pepper the town of Silent Hill are noticeably that of James himself, his head bludgeoned and bloodied beyond recognition but his jacket and boots unmistakable. He makes no remark on this. It's probably nothing.

Board Games Based on Video Games on Sale for Amazon Prime Day

As is common during Amazon Prime Day sales, there are board games deals that are part of the event on October 8-9, 2024, and many of them are ones based on video games. Given the nature of the promotion though, some are rotating and only available at certain times throughout the day. Some are only for Prime members, while other of the drops are available to everyone.

The majority of the sales on board games based on video games available during Amazon Prime Day at the moment are heavier ones. This also means they're typically more expensive and can cost $50-100 when they aren't on sale.

Here is a list of some of the more notable board games reduced at Amazon right now:

There are also some of these board games based on video games Amazon Prime Day deals that involve sales on titles meant for younger audiences. For example, a number of Pokemon and Super Mario-themed ones are present.

Long haired Rei Ayanami Pop Up Parade figure getting restocked in April 2025

Good Smile Company will restock its Pop Up Parade figure of the long-haired Rei Ayanami from Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. The company has opened pre-orders for the figure's new batch on its Japanese international web store. People worldwide can place orders for the figure at ¥4,800 (~$32.40).

As with every other figure in the Pop Up Parade lineup, this figure will be static without any movable parts. This non-scale figure will have a total height of around 17 cm (~6.69 inches).

Here are the sample images for the figure:

Good Smile Company originally revealed the figure in March 2022 with a release window in August 2022. The revelation back then was in close proximity to the movie's release in 2021. More companies have since revealed their own versions of the long-haired Rei Ayanami figure, such as Aniplex in April 2023 and Sega's S-Fire brand in July 2024.

The pre-order period for the new batch of the Pop Up Parade figure of the long-haired version of Rei Ayanami from Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time will close on November 6, 2024. Good Smile Company will formally restock and ship the figure in April 2025.

resident evil 2 remake iphone ipad mac

Capcom announced that Resident Evil 2 Remake will appear on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac in 2024. Pre-registrations are open, and it should come out on December 31, 2024.

You'll be able to play Resident Evil 2 Remake on all iPhones newer than the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16. If your iPad or Mac has an M1 chip (or newer), you'll be able to play it too. Since it'll be on your Apple ID account, you'll be able to play it on all devices. If you're not sure about playing it on your iPhone or iPad, the beginning segment of the game will be available for free to test out.

When playing Resident Evil 2 Remake on the iPhone or iPad, you'll use touch controls on the screen to control Leon, Claire, Ada, or Sherry. You can connect your Bluetooth controller as well, if you have one. For those who find it difficult to play on the touch screen, there are options to turn on automatic shooting.

Resident Evil 2 Remake came out in 2019 and is the remake of the 1998 game Resident Evil 2. Though it's a sequel to the first one, you don't need to play it to understand the story. The second game focuses on Leon and Claire's experience in the Raccoon City zombie apocalypse, and only has brief mentions of the events of the first game. There are two protagonists to choose from, meaning two routes to take through the destroyed city. The remake was critically acclaimed and very popular. Not only did it outsell the original, it is the best-selling Resident Evil game.

Resident Evil 2 is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One. The iPhone, iPad, and Mac version of Resident Evil 2 Remake should come out on December 31, 2024.

Amazon Prime Day Sale Adds Switch, Steam Deck MicroSD Deals

The Amazon Prime Day sale kicked off on October 8, 2024, and there are now deals on the types of microSD cards compatible with the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck. Ones from both Samsung and SanDisk are part of the promotion. There are also Lexar Play models on sale.

Both the Samsung and SanDisk microSD card sales on Amazon are specifically listed as "Prime Big Deal" offers for the day. While three of the Lexar ones are reduced, they don't have that indicator on the page.

Here's the list of all the deals available. Note that while there are certain sizes that are reduced, the others are still full price.

  • 128 GB Lexar Play microSDXC - $14.99 instead of $17.49.
  • 128 GB Samsung Pro Plus microSDXC - $12.99 instead of $25.99.
  • 128 GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC - $14.99 instead of $20.99.
  • 128 GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC - $12.99 instead of $18.99.
  • 256 GB Samsung Pro Plus microSDXC - $22.99 instead of $39.99.
  • 256 GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC - $21.49 instead of $27.99.
  • 256 GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC - $18.99 instead of $25.99.
  • 512 GB Lexar Play microSDXC - $39.99 instead of $49.99.
  • 512 GB Samsung Pro Plus microSDXC - $39.99 instead of $75.99.
  • 512 GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC - $36.25 instead of $42.70.
  • 512 GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC - $31.99 instead of $38.98.
  • 1 TB Lexar Play microSDXC - $74.99 instead of $129.99.
  • 1 TB Samsung Pro Plus microSDXC - $109.99 instead of $119.99
  • 1 TB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC - $78.69 instead of $92.99.
  • 1.5 TB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC - $89.29 instead of $149.99.

As a reminder, there are some microSD card size limits for the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck. Nintendo established it can only handle up to 2GB microSD or microSDXC. It's also presumed that's the limit for the Steam Deck, since that's the size limit on microSDXC in general.

Amazon Prime Day runs October 8-9, 2024, and various microSD cards that can be used with the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck are reduced as part of it.

star rail sunday

HoYoVerse has released the drip marketing for Sunday, who'll be a playable character in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.7. He will be a 5-star Imaginary Harmony.

Players who've completed the Penacony arc should be familiar with Sunday. He was once the head of the Oak Family in The Family and was the organizer of the Charmony Festival. The dream in Penacony vanished and now Sunday is on his own. While we got a brief hint as to his whereabouts in the epilogue of the Penacony chapter, we'll likely know for sure what happened to him after his defeat when he shows up as a playable character. More information on his kit will come out closer to his release.

Sunday's Japanese voice actor is Takeo Otsuka and his Chinese voice actor is Xu Xiang. His English voice actor is not on the English account, nor on Bilibili. However, Griffin Puatu used to voice him. While HoYoVerse did not make a statement as to why he's no longer voicing the character, it could have to do with his past comments defending Chris Niosi, who was originally supposed to voice Moze in Star Rail. Otsuka's previous voice roles include Jinshi in The Apothecary Diaries, Aqua in Oshi no Ko, and Hwei in League of Legends. As for Xu Xiang, his roles include Calcharo in Wuthering Waves, Aeroplanist and Fire Investigator in Identity V, and Thorns in Arknights.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Sunday will appear in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.7.
