PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 8:40 PM When it comes to videogames with impeccable vibes, I always think of Heart Machine. Hyper Light Drifter perfectly blends bold pixel art with evocative emptiness in a way that makes that world unforgettable. Solar Ash, meanwhile, transplants that style into a clean-cut 3D environment with some of the best scale I've ever seen. It's safe to say that Heart Machine's next game, Possessors, has caught my eye. If you can't wait either, you'll be glad to hear that there's a demo available today. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 8:35 PM The life sim has, perhaps, become one of the most saturated genres out there. Everyone wants a slice of Stardew Valley's success, with games like Disney Dreamlight Valley injecting some Magic Kingdom sparkle, while Witchbrook puts a fantastical, playful horror spin on the genre. Yet, despite my attempts to stick with them in the same way I did Animal Crossing, I've never really found myself becoming #obsessed with any of Stardew's spiritual successors. Then Neverway appeared, and it's exactly what I've been waiting for. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Best indie games, New PC games, Best PC games |

They're some of my favorites, too, with the original Guacamelee one I consistently return to simply because of how stunning the team's luchador and Mexican stylings are. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 7:05 PM Yes. It's happening, it's real, and it's finally been officially unveiled. Resident Evil 9 is on the way and we've just gotten our first full look at Summer Game Fest. Now, I love Resident Evil. I've been playing the survival horror series for 29 years, ever since the first (and still best) game was released in 1996. Silent Hill, Alien Isolation, Amnesia, and other greats have earned their place in the genre's pantheon - but RE, despite, in my personal opinion, the misfires of Resident Evil 7 and Village, still reigns supreme. Now, Capcom's crown jewel is making its valiant return. This is Resident Evil Requiem, and we already have a release date. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Best horror games, Best survival games, Best old games |
PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 7:09 PM The Cube. There's something a little bit ominous about it. Perhaps we're all slightly scarred from The Tesseract from the Avengers movies, or maybe the shape's geometric perfection carries a distinctly austere quality. In Mundfish's new shooter, set in the world of Atomic Heart (aptly dubbed the 'Atomic Universe'), there are even more reasons to fear cubes, so I caught up with CEO Robert Bagratuni to learn about the studio's first multiplayer foray. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 7:09 PM I consider myself a bit of a shower philosopher. Some of the best articles I've ever written came to me during early morning steam sessions; it's where I ask myself questions and attempt to work out the answers. As a history and war studies graduate, I find my mind wandering to corners of the past: how would the world look if x had happened, instead of y? Mundfish answered one of those with Atomic Heart: what would have happened if the Soviet Union survived and became the global superpower? Apparently, lots of angry robots, fur people, and a very horny vending machine. But now, as revealed at Summer Game Fest, Atomic Heart 2 is on the horizon, seeking to answer different questions and ponder even more. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 7:40 PM It's the very first concept trailer for ILL that really sticks in the mind. All of 60 seconds long - and, as it happens, set in an entirely different location to the actual, real game - it nevertheless encompasses the vision of developer Team Clout. Combat is slow and weighty. The enemies are strange, frightening, and governed by a complex physics system. There's a lot of gore. In the four years since ILL first emerged, we've seen dozens of short concept videos and hints of gameplay, but for the most part, the hybrid horror FPS has been an enigma. There's a Steam page and a few social channels, but we don't really know what it's about, how it works, who's making it, and how it's meant to play. Now, finally, alongside a reveal at SGF, ILL's director speaks to PCGamesN about the game's history and inspirations. From what we've seen and heard, ILL is partly a mix of FEAR, Half-Life 2, and Soldier of Fortune - but even then, there's more than meets the eye. In the years since, it's garnered a solid reputation among players, earning itself a position alongside DayZ, Ark: Survival Evolved, Rust, and Valheim as one of the finest examples of the genre. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 6:10 PM During the zombie apocalypse, it's never the undead that are the real threat. As far back as the original Resident Evil, it was Wesker, not the T-Virus mutants, that you really had to keep an eye on. In State of Decay 2, it's the bandit enclaves. In DayZ, it's other players. In Project Zomboid, it's a tree stump that somehow suddenly jumps out in front of your speeding car. And in Dying Light The Beast, it's the sinister Baron, who's been running some extremely unethical experiments on you and your fellow survivors. The good news is that Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition owners get to take on this imposing new foe for free. The better news is that the Dying Light The Beast launch date is coming this August. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 6:06 PM There are a lot of games that I associate with my childhood - LA Noire, Dragon Age: Origins, and even Halo: Reach. But my favorites were always simulation games: Rollercoaster Tycoon, The Sims (especially Bustin' Out) and, of course, Jurassic World Evolution. As a budding historian and attempted archaeologist, the franchise has always been up there with my favorites, and, after a year of silence and rampant rumors, Frontier has finally lifted the lid on Jurassic World Evolution 3. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 5:56 PM Code Vein came out back in 2019 and immediately stood apart from other soulslike games for its anime-inspired visual style and more straightforward storytelling. Though it has the demanding combat and interconnected world design of games like Elden Ring, Sekiro, Dark Souls, and Sekiro, creator Bandai Namco filtered these concepts through the bold cartoon style of a horror anime, attracting a sizable audience in the process. Seven years on, the studio's just announced that it's at work on a follow-up to the first project, with Code Vein 2 set to expand on its predecessor's concepts. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 7:14 PM The Lies of P Overture release date is here, and you can play it today. PCGamesN Friday, June 6, 2025 5:32 PM There are so many games created with direct influence from FromSoftware's action RPGs that a new genre has been created from projects similar to Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Sekiro, Demon's Souls, and Bloodborne. What sets the most worthwhile of these soulslike games apart, though, isn't their ability to replicate the unforgiving combat design of From's catalog, but their approach to making absorbing, often foreboding settings. It's in this kind of world design that 2020's Mortal Shell excelled. Now that we've just seen a first glimpse of its sequel, Mortal Shell 2, it looks like creator Cold Symmetry is offering an increasingly detailed nightmare world to explore that continues this effort. The bulk of your enemies are household objects - vending machines, plant pots, office printers and other fittings that have become vessels for demons. From this premise springs a note of tragedy powerful enough to conquer my outrage at a game title that has brackets in it. Deus Ex creator Warren Spector introduced some pre-alpha footage this evening, and while I won't pretend I'm actually likely to play anything PvP anytime soon that isn't Mechabellum, I enjoyed seeing how they've adapted some of that classic immersive sim DNA Spector is known for into a competitive format. |

Still, it is quite spooky. The idea here is that you're a museum worker reporting anomalies in paintings. There's also a sad clown spreading melancholy throughout the art. Capcom officially revealed Resident Evil 9 as Resident Evil Requiem, a new game in the survival-horror series. The reveal trailer appeared during Summer Game Fest 2025, and it showcased new character Grace Ashcroft and the ruined remains of Raccoon City after the zombie outbreak. As a reminder, Capcom announced that a new Resident Evil mainline title was in development with Resident Evil 7 Director Koshi Nakanishi back at the helm. The announcement appeared during the Capcom Next Summer 2024 broadcast back in July 1, 2024 alongside other upcoming Capcom titles.

At Summer Game Fest 2025, the Ryu ga Gotoku Studio (RGG) game Project Century appeared, this time under the name Stranger Than Heaven. The trailer that confirmed the name also showed a portion set in 1943. The game still doesn't have a release date or platforms yet, however.
Here is a 1915 trailer for the game that was just uploaded by Sega. That looked at footage and areas, and it included the new name and logo. This is familiar footage we saw back in December 2024.
This is the new trailer that shows cinematics and gameplay footage. A different protagonist is featured in this portion. He goes by the name Marco Daido, and we get to hear him speak to an obscured individual at the end.
Here's the Summer Game Fest 2025 full showcase:
As a reminder, the last time we heard about Project Century, it involved a different time period. That footage featured a period set in 1915. Around that same period of time, Snoop Dogg and RGG teased his possible involvement in this new title.
Stranger than Heaven is in development. It is unknown if this new game will have any type of ties to RGG's previous Yakuza or Judgment series.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is drawing closer in 2025, and pre-registration is now open. It is available to wishlist on the PS5, PC via Steam, and mobile devices on June 6, 2025. There are no reward milestones mentioned for hitting certain tiers yet. However, we do know it will be at the Future Games Show, due to a roadmap on the page. That teased three more milestones.
Here's the latest trailer, to show what this The Seven Deadly Sins game will look like when it debuts.
And here's the full Summer Games Fest 2025 showcase:
For those unaware of it, The Seven Deadly Sins ran for eight years. There were 41 volumes, and Kodansha handled it worldwide. Anime adaptations appeared, with seasons and films showing up. Netflix ended up being the home for those.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin will come to the PS5, PC, and mobile devices in 2025.

The original Code Vein debuted in 2019. It showed up on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In one of Bandai Namco's final updates on it, it was confirmed to have passed over two million in sales. The series was known for being able to fight alongside NPC allies or other people.

Square Enix shared new concept art on the official Final Fantasy VII Remake social media account, and this time it showed the effect of the Toad status on Cait Sith and Red XIII and their unique forms as frogs in FFVII Rebirth. As is common, both amphibians feature traits and accessories inspired by the characters.
In the case of Cait Sith, it features a black and white color scheme like the tuxedo cat. It also wears a crown and red cape, just like the character. The comment noted it almost ended up being two frogs, to represent how the character rides a Moogle. The Red XIII frog is red with accents that mimic his markings, and it features two feathers behind its eyes. It also has a scar over the right eye.
Here are the two pieces of FFVII Rebirth concept art of Cait Sith and Red XIII as frogs after being afflicted by a Toad spell or Frog Song.

This isn't the first time Square Enix shared concept art of the frog status effect in FFVII Remake and Rebirth, as the characters' frogs resemble them when the Toad form is in effect. Back in 2022, around the first game in the trilogy's launch, we got a better look at the Aerith, Cloud, Tifa, and Barret designs.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, and FFVII Rebirth is on the PS5 and PC. There's no release window for the third entry in this remake trilogy yet. FFVII Remake will also come to the Switch 2.

Water is pretty scarce in Dune Awakening, but there are some useful methods to try and manage the thirst on your adventures.
Managing your thirst and hydration is crucial unless you want to die a painful death and lose in-game progression. One of the easiest ways to secure water fast is by acquiring blood, which is, yeah, ugh. However, there are other methods available to sustainably produce water on your own.
Table of contents
Dune Awakening Blood Purifier explained
At first, the only option for water is to absorb the dew from plants. You can also come across certain installations that will quench your thirst. Unfortunately, your situation won't improve until you can unlock and craft a few upgrades.
![]()
The Blood Purifier is a simple item that converts blood into water in Dune Awakening. To use it, you'll need to get a Blood Extractor, enabling you to obtain blood from any fallen enemy. The blood is then stored in Blood Sacks. Once you're back at your base, unload the blood into the Blood Purifier and let the process complete.
Blood Purifier can be unlocked early inside the game, and you can use several simultaneously. I recommend using at least three of them if you frequently need water, as the processing time is pretty high. You'll also rarely miss out on blood, as there are always enemies to slaughter.
Dune Awakening Stillsuit explained
If you're completing the early game quests, you'll unlock the Fabricator pretty quickly. The Fabricator will allow you to create a Stillsuit using Micro-sandwich Fabric. This item is available as loot from Scavenger Camps, or you can purchase it from traders.
![]()
With this item, you'll never run out of water completely, which is a perfect solution. However, the water production rate is limited, and you'll still need dew from plants occasionally. Once the Stillsuit is produced, you can drink the water produced by it to manage your thirst.
Which is the best way to create and store water in Dune Awakening?
The best method is to use a Windtrap or a Moisture Harvester. You can research these items after you reach Griffin's Research Tradepost. You'll have a set of quests to complete after visiting the place. Once you're done, you'll get the chance to craft the items.
They produce water passively at your base and act as storage sources, so your base will never run out of it. While running back to your base has some inconveniences, you'll be able to stop looking for blood from enemies, and no longer have to depend on the meager production rate of the Stillsuit.

I'm not at all a fan of the latest Marvel Rivals meta, but I've been drawn back into the third-person shooter thanks to a very unique and special experimental mode recently added to the game by NetEase.
If you've missed out on the news, the limited time mode in Marvel Rivals is called Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol, and it's like an entirely new game on top of the existing hero shooter that's currently at the top of my shit-list as far as how playing it makes me feel.
![]()
Ever since the season 2.5 update, Marvel Rivals has been more frustrating for me than anything else. The over-abundance of flying heroes like Ultron and Storm, along with new ridiculous team-ups like the one for Peni Parker and Rocket Raccoon, has the game feeling more like a chore than a joy. But with Ultron's BMP mode, I'm finding reasons to boot it up again.
Auto-battlers, or Auto Chess as the game type has come to be known, are not for everyone. Games like Teamfight Tactics, Hearthstone Battlegrounds, Super Auto Pets, and Backpack Battles scratch a certain itch in that you're playing the game, but you're not. You're relaxing and doing minimal work, but also watching numbers get bigger and enemies go boom. You kind of either like it or you don't.
I, for one, love it. I can't say the same for some of my teammates in the Rivals variant, like the one guy who said something along the lines of "how long does this take," and "I feel like I'm losing my mind" as the match wore on.
In UBMP, you build your own team of heroes from a pre-selected pool of existing characters and set them out on the battlefield to fight against other players. Along the way, you collect upgrades and buffs for your characters to help them win auto-played fights against one another as you watch from above as an Ultron drone.
You can also use your blaster to chip away at enemy players, plus heal your own teammates, and damage the other team once per round, so it's a bit more active then some other auto-battlers. But the fun comes in the strategy of picking a team comp, choosing who and what to buff, and where to place them each round.
![]()
I think you should give the mode a shot. If you need some extra encouragement, there are a couple of rewards to unlock along the way, including a spray and two emojis. But for me, I've just been enjoying playing the mode as a way to get my Marvel Rivals fix without greatly increasing my blood pressure after I solo tank for the ninth game in a row while trying to level up my battle pass.
Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol is an experimental mode, so it may be iterated on in the future. For now, this version will only be available until June 23.
