PCGamesN Friday, July 11, 2025 9:21 AM What happens when The Thing crashes into Until Dawn? You get some meaty Directive 8020 system requirements that start off sweet and innocent, only to morph into something far more challenging once you turn up the graphics settings. Fortunately, the barrier to entry is relatively low for this upcoming sci-fi horror game. Horror games are something Supermassive Games excels at, and Directive 8020 strongly calls to mind elements of Dead Space with an Until Dawn twist. Ironically, the Directive 8020 requirements are quite similar to the Dead Space remake system requirements, calling for one of the best gaming CPU options from our buying guide in order to render the horrors lurking within the bowels of the Cassiopeia at their best. PCGamesN Friday, July 11, 2025 8:00 AM Realistic FPS games should be tough, slow-paced, and quick to severely punish you. Escape From Tarkov remains one of the purest examples, where a single bullet can end your raid, costing you bags of hard-earned, precious gear. It's a thrilling dynamic, but also, compared to Battlefield and Delta Force, inaccessible and potentially offputting - a lot of mainstream shooter fans might be turned away by the steep learning curve of ultra realism, meaning games like EFT and Gray Zone Warfare are stuck with limited appeal. Arena Breakout Infinite Season 2 makes major changes to Morefun's FPS. In combination, they make the game a little less punishing and intimidating, but by that token, perhaps threaten to undermine its original identity. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, July 11, 2025 8:26 AM ![]() Morsels is a game best enjoyed by poison tasters. Video game science has yet to devise and normalise control devices that are operated with your tongue, despite notable efforts, so during my hands-on, I'm forced to fall back on my untrustworthy eyeballs. It's an adventure. Developer Toby Dixon has to step in frequently to point out that some of the game's oozing anomalies are there to empower me, not harm me. It helps that we meet at the end of Summer Game Fest and are both exhausted. It also helps that Dixon doesn't seem entirely certain what some of the creatures are himself. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, July 11, 2025 7:15 AM ![]() Subnautica 2 publishers Krafton have accused three recently ousted leads of "abandoning" their duties on the game, suggesting that this is to blame for it being delayed. That statement was almost immediately followed by one of the former Unknown Worlds bosses, co-founder Charlie Cleveland, writing in a Reddit post that a lawsuit's been filed by the trio against the company. These are the latest twists in an ongoing saga that began with Striking Distance CEO Steve Papoutsis being parachuted in to replace Cleveland, fellow co-founder Max McGuire, and CEO Ted Gill earlier this month. That kicked off a war of words between the two sides, punctuated by a report from Bloomberg which alleged Krafton's call to delay the game was made just before a $250 million bonus was set to be paid to Unknown Worlds staff. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, July 11, 2025 6:09 AM ![]() Former RPS sealife correspondent Nate once described the game Maneater as "an ecstatically violent simulation of being a fool's idea of a shark", which stuck with me. The Jaws Effect is a reasonably well known phenomenon coined in a paper that explores the impact the 1975 film had on Australian policy response to shark bites, although the term is now used a bit more broadly to refer to how sharks are villainised in pop culture - villainisation obviously being an absurdly human and dramatic concept to apply to a hungry or scared fish. Jaws did actually result in an increase in shark culls, but its lasting legacy has also been argued to be more insididous. Depending on whether you're looking at stats from the UN or from conservation charities, the number of sharks killed or mutilated and harvested each year for fins and other parts ranges between about 10 and 100 million, and it's been argued this continues with relatively little pushback as compared to similar wildlife atrocities due to wide-reaching perception that ranges from apathy to vilification. A sharknado of lies, if you will. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, July 11, 2025 4:25 AM ![]() Tides Of Torment, the next DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, has been pushed back from its original Summer release window to later in the year, with September onwards sounding the likeliest from a new blog post. And that's…honestly where the bad news ends, as far as I'm concerned. The rest of the blog is filled with some exciting and pretty respectable thoughts about future updates. Even the reason for Tides Of Torment's delay ("the short answer was no", it didn't hit the team's standards) strikes me as a good sign, since it means the DLC team at least feel they've got the breathing room to not rush out something they're not happy with. It's too nice outside for my PC to be running the kind of temps 1000 angry sea elves are going to result in, anyway. Ah, yes: Sea Elves are confirmed now, led by Sea Lord Aislinn. If you've ever played one of Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball games, you know the company consistently supports them. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 came out almost 10 years ago. It got an add-on based on the Dragon Ball Daima new spin-off anime back in May 2025 and Future Saga updates in 2024. It's totally plausible and even expected for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot to get its own Daima DLC five years after that installment's debut and, after some initial time spent with it, it seems
For those familiar with Dragon Ball Daima, I feel like the add-on starts off by quickly getting us introduced to the spin-off's new characters and shuttled off to the Demon Realm where the story takes place. If you didn't watch that show, it's pretty good at quickly and concisely getting you started. As a quick summary, new Supreme Demon King Gomah got the Dragon Balls. He wished Goku and his allies would become kids. He took Earth's Guardian Dende. The bad news for Gomah is that Goku was still super powerful as a kid. He and Supreme Kai Shin (also turned into a child) end up going into the Demon Realm with new allies Panzy (was a child even before the wish) and Glorio (the only "adult") to save Dende and show Gomah what for.
I really appreciated how quickly things get going. Which is a necessity here, since the whole point of the add-on is to get access to this new space, its original quests and characters, and the adventure tied to it. I experienced only the first parts. It's a pretty solid introduction to this new story. I think that will bode especially well for newcomers, since the banter between existing characters like Goku and Shin works well, and this add-on maintains the same relationship I enjoyed between him and Glorio and Panzy for the parts I went through. I don't feel like someone new to this story would feel left out.
There are also marked design decisions present to make the Daima Demon Realm feel different than other places we've been in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. CyberConnect 2 made it look different, naturally. We're also forced to explore it all on foot. This makes it feel like a more traditional type of open-world experience, and I also felt it encouraged me to do a little more exploring and investigating since I couldn't just fly up and check out everything from above. Also, seeing his crew around him, running alongside as you explore areas, is just a nice touch and makes it feel a bit more like the newest anime.

This decision also changes combat. Since this is a child version of Goku, our moveset is a bit different. He's still going to use ki, but I appreciated the enhanced focus on using his Power Pole. It genuinely reminded me of watching the original Dragon Ball anime after school as a kid. The inability to fly comes up in fights as well. This means different types of evasive maneuvers or pursual tactics need to be employed to dodge or get in close for attacks.
The first part of the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Daima DLC seems like it could be a really worthwhile adventure. The brief segment I sampled seemed surprisingly large. It added a new type of gameplay experience that remained true to the source material. It could also serve as a good introduction to that storyline for folks who didn't catch the series yet. I'm excited to see more. Especially since CyberConnect 2 made sure we get introduced to and comfortable with the new world so swiftly.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the first part of the Daima DLC debuts on July 17, 2025. The second part of the add-on's story will arrive in 2026. The Dragon Ball Daima anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

There are many unique superhero powers you can find around the island during this season of Fortnite, but none are as powerful as Superman's Mythic. It's an incredibly rare but exceptionally strong item you need to try out before the season ends.
Since this item is a Mythic, it's not easy to find around the vast island. There's only one version available of it in each round, and it also doesn't always spawn. If you're eager to test out these powers for yourself, here's how to get and use Superman's Mythic in Fortnite.

How to get Superman powers in Fortnite
![]()
You can get Superman's Mythic powers by being the first player to reach the Superman's Call crystal when it spawns on the map. This powerful item has a chance of spawning in every round, but only the first player to reach it can harness its potential.
If you previously experienced Godzilla's might or the Star Destroyer taking over the island, you have a pretty solid understanding of what this mechanic looks like. A bit after each round has begun, a pop-up and marker will appear to let you know that Superman's Mythic is available and how far away it is. It's then a race to the right location, as the first player to reach it will then unlock his abilties for a time.
How to use Superman Mythic in Fortnite
Superman's Mythic gives you access to all of his powerful abilities, essentially making you an OP hero for a limited time. The powers you can use while playing with this item are as follows.
All Superman Mythic spawn locations in Fortnite
There seem to be only eight possible spawn locations for Superman's Mythic in Fortnite, all of which can be found around the central region of the island, based on our testing for it. These same eight locations have been confirmed by reliable leakers, so it doesn't seem like there are any other spots it can pop up. If we do come across any additional locations, though, we'll add them here.
In each round, the Superman's Call crystal will only spawn at one of the eight possible locations.

There are plenty of other tasks to work on around the island once you're done wielding Superman's powers. Next, you may need to visit some BURD To Go gas stations, gather the clues left by the instructors, hit hero practice targets at different hero training outposts, and assemble surveillance gear at Demon's Domain.
This guide is a work in progress and is receiving live updates as we play and learn more about the new Mythic.

On July 9, the second and final part of The Storybook Vale DLC storyline was released in Disney Dreamlight Valley. At the very end, there's a short, roughly 15-second teaser that seems to be hinting at future content, but what exactly this content is is quite unclear.
This post-credit scene is pretty short and doesn't have much going on, but there are some clues hidden in it that we can analyze to predict what might be coming next. So, Disney Dreamlight Valley players, what do you think it might be hinting at?
![]()
The footage starts with a shot of a cottage in the woods. This house closely resembles the Snuggly Duckling Tavern house we can grab from the Premium Shop, but it's pretty far off in the forest, so it's tough to tell whether or not it is. This location is from Tangled, though, and fits with the rest of the content in this scene, so it does seem likely.
After this shot, the camera zooms out to highlight a wanted poster of Flynn, also from Tangled. It zooms out a bit further, and a horse outline appears hovering over it, which must be none other than Maximus, the loyal steed who spends the majority of Tangled hunting Flynn down.
I'll be honest, this teaser is really throwing me. More Tangled-focused content seems like an odd choice considering we already got Mother Gothel in the base game, Rapunzel in the first DLC, A Rift in Time, and Flynn in The Storybook Vale DLC, which just wrapped up.
This teaser just doesn't fit what I would expect to see for another DLC or an upcoming base game drop, and I'm wondering if that's because it's teasing something else. Perhaps Maximus will be arriving as the first mount in the game. We already have a glider system, but maybe there's going to be some kind of overhaul or expansion to it that allows us to ride certain animals around the valley.
![]()
Maybe this teaser is hinting at a continuation that links both DLCs, so A Rift in Time and The Storybook Vale can continue together. I could potentially see there being a new DLC that focuses on Rapunzel and Flynn fully reuniting and Maximus coming in as a fresh character or companion.
Or, if it is an expansion, perhaps it will focus on introducing a bunch of animal characters, which is why they chose to highlight Maximus. I could see someone like Snow White, a known animal lover, being part of an animal-based DLC, too. It could also potentially be entirely focused on sidekicks like Maxmius, and introduce other iconic ones like Pluto, Sven, and Sebastian.
When A Rift in Time ended, we got a really clear post-credit teaser that highlighted Maleficent, Hades, and the Lorekeeper, so this one doesn't feel quite right for a DLC teaser. Perhaps that's because it's not hinting at a DLC at all.
Another possibility is some kind of new DLC continuation system that builds upon these special worlds rather than wrapping them up and never touching the characters again. Since both Rapunzel and Flynn are in DLCs, they aren't as central to the valley's main storyline, so maybe the devs have decided to work in a new system that continues their storylines beyond the core expansions.
![]()
There are so many possibilities, so what do you think this teaser means? Is it hinting at another DLC, a new Realm, an added mount system, or something else? Let us know down in the comments what you think so we can discuss and theorize what might be coming next.

As you wrap up Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Rock storyline, you'll progress through the Music's on the Walls quest enough to meet Peter Pan for the first time. He'll greet you by calling you a boring adult, prompting you to prove that you're still fun by playing hide-and-seek with him.
Table of contents
Peter Pan hiding spot hints in Disney Dreamlight Valley
As Peter Pan flies off to hide, you have three options for finding him during the "The Music's on the Walls" quest:
While you can enjoy the challenge of locating him without hints, this is a tough feat unless you look for a while or get lucky. Instead, you can follow his dust trail out of Skull Rock and into your village or talk to other characters for more information.
![]()
The easiest way to find Peter Pan is to talk to other villagers. Here's a list of every character involved in this hide-and-seek game and their hints:
Combining these six hints with the Pixie Dust's trail will lead you directly toward the Plaza into a dark and frightening location. With this information in mind, we can unveil exactly where Peter Pan is hiding.
Where is Peter Pan hiding in Disney Dreamlight Valley?
Peter Pan is hiding in the Dark Castle. You can access the Dark Castle through the portal next to the Plaza's Wishing Well. As you enter this building, you'll find more Pixie Dust atop a portal, leading you down a path to Peter Pan.
![]()
However, there are a few doors to go through first. Each time you enter a portal or door, you'll spot Pixie Dust near your next location. After a few entrances, you'll spot Peter Pan down a hallway full of night thorns. Talk to him to wrap up the hide-and-seek game.
Once the hide-and-seek game ends, Peter Pan will join your village as a permanent resident. Place down his house in any location you like and pay Scrooge's 20,000 Star Coin fee to officially invite him. Now, you have access to his friendship quests, all while wrapping up the "The Music's on the Walls" quest.

Disney Dreamlight Valley's The Storybook Vale storyline continues as we talk to Aurora about our experiences with the Lorekeeper. Despite the Lorekeeper nearly betraying us, we're starting to make amends now, with the first few steps involving, you guessed it, more books.
Table of contents
Starting the Redeeming Literature quest
You'll start the Redeeming Literature quest after reaching level three friendship with Aurora. You also need to unlock Belee and Stitch as villagers, as they're both supporting characters in this mission.
Once you meet all three requirements, talk to Aurora to start the quest. She's worried about the Lorekeeper and wants to check up on them, asking you to have a quick chat with them to see what's going on.
Search for the book in the Library of Lore West Wing
After quick conversations with both the Lorekeeper and Aurora, you'll decide to find a special, magical story. Aurora previously read a book that's relevant to the Lorekeeper, prompting you to search for it.
![]()
You'll find this story inside the Library of Lore's West Wing. Head into the west wing's northern half to spot this book on the ground. At least, it would be a book if someone didn't cover it in blue slime.
Right away, you suspect Stitch is the culprit here. Although you'll be able to repair most of it, you and Aurora need to recreate its ending. There are two possible routes you can take—Romance and Adventure, each with its own subsequent tasks.
How to complete the Romance ending
If you choose Redeeming Literature's Romance ending, you'll need to gather the following resources:
Yellow Tale Cone flowers are available anywhere in The Bind. Four different Cone flower types appear here, so if you don't find all six right away, you may need to pick some and wait until more respawn.
![]()
Roses, on the other hand, spawn in Everafter. Both types spawn in The Wild Woods, with White Roses also appearing in the Fallen Fortress and Dusty Violet ones within Beanstalk Marshes.
Once you have all three items, visit Belle to get your next task.
How to complete the Adventure ending
If you choose Redeeming Literature's Adventure ending, you'll need the following materials instead:
Like Yellow Tale variants, Olive Green Tale Cone flowers spawn in The Bind. Similar to before, you may need to clear away some decorations and flowers to make more appear if you're low on this type. Otherwise, whether you get three at once is luck-based.
![]()
Lightning Spice and Magma appear in Mythopia. Lightning Spice is a wild herb that spawns throughout all four areas, while Magma is only available by mining ore rocks. Magma, in particular, can be tricky to find if you get unlucky with your rocks, so don't be afraid to grab a Mining Bonus buddy to hang out with to make things slightly easier.
Once you have all three items, visit Belle to get your next objective.
Fish in Mythopia to find the Artisanal Book Glue
From here, the Romance and Adventure endings lead down the same path, with you fishing in Mount Olympus for some special Artisanal book glue. You'll find this spot within the biome's northern water pool.
![]()
With your book glue on hand, go to any crafting station and make your Improvised Adventure or Romance book, depending on which ending you chose. You'll now be ready to give it to Aurora, who'll wrap up the Redeemed Literature quest by reading it out to the Lorekeeper.
