Fallout 3 is broken for some, but here's some ways to fix it

It's fair to say the Fallout TV show has been a massive hit and spurred on many people to replay some of the Fallout games as well as introducing a whole new generation of gamers to the series. However, if you've been tempted to jump into the first of the 3D versions of the game series, Fallout 3, which is just $2.49 on Steam, you may have found the game either doesn't run at all or doesn't run well. If so, this guide should hopefully help you out. Here's hopefully how to fix Fallout 3 for Windows 10 and 11 users.

Fallout 3 is available in two versions on Steam. There's the original Fallout 3 release or the Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, which costs $4.99. These fixes should apply to both versions of the game, though your mileage will vary a great deal based on the exact version of Windows you're running and all the hardware in your system.

While trying to keep vaguely up on both games discourse and terminology over long periods of time, I frequently find myself noticing terms enter common usage, get used a bunch, then fall out of favour again. I think this is partly because games discourse is cyclical, and partly because writing and talking about the same things a lot means that when a neater phrase for something complicated pops up, it gets assimilated quickly. Mostly, though, I think it's because of my brain doing the thing where, say, you notice a yellow car on a walk and then see dozens of them. I was going to write a car make there but I don't know any. The statement from MAPPA contained an apology to fans, a well as a note thanking them for supporting the series throughout its production. The cancellation itself was only attributed to "various circumstances," and further details about the situation were not provided.

The Yuri on Ice anime series follows Yuri Katsuki, a Japanese figure skater considering retiring until he is visited by fellow figure skaters Victor Nikiforov and Yuri Plisetsky. The movie, which was first announced back in 2017, was expected to be a continuation of the original tale or new arc for their story.

You can read the full statement in both English and Japanese via the tweet below:

The anime adaptation for the popular manga Kaii to Otome to Kamikakushi, which is going by Mysterious Disappearances officially in English, finally debuted. The 2019 manga series offers the right mix of humor, light horror elements, and the supernatural. Fortunately, the anime version delivers the same satisfying blend.

I checked out the recent first episode of Mysterious Disappearances on Crunchyroll and walked away surprised. Though I have heard of the manga, I never checked it out and was intrigued by the premise. It involves the two leads named Sumireko and Adashino, who work in a book store, as they investigate strange occurrences.

But what I appreciate about the first episode is it feels almost like a standalone, 24-minute experience. The premiere introduces the two main characters, what they do at their jobs at a bookstore, and their connections to one another. This eventually leads to an odd book that brings about the episode's core mystery.

In the process, it lightly explores the inner workings of Sumireko's mind and her deepest fears. But instead of being super serious or all spooky, this series is fantastic at setting up hilarious sequences. It almost feels like the classic Goosebumps TV series, but even funnier.

There is a mystery in this episode, of course, and presumably future ones. However, they take a backseat to the actual characters. This allows for a lighter tone to the series, which the Mysterious Disappearances anime benefits from. I will admit it gets a bit too light at times in the initial episode, especially due to what I felt were a couple of short, but unnecessary, fan service moments. Still, its humor and characters keep the premiere going.

Given how the mystery brings the two leads together, I will say I am curious to see how the future episodes shape up. After all, this episode benefits so much from focusing on Sumireko as a person and her backstory. Presumably, the later episodes won't do that as much. I wonder if that could also affect the pacing and atmosphere.

Thankfully, there are some neat hints at what the future holds. The promise of what's next did sink its hooks into me. For one, there is the fascinating situation with the other lead, Adashino. He looks like a younger kid, perhaps someone only in junior high, but he behaves strangely. Not to mention, his spiral yellow eyes can't just be for show.

I hope the Mysterious Disappearances anime series dives deeper into Adashino's story in the near future, especially since he seems to know a lot more about the occult than he first leads on. For now, though, I am hopeful and optimistic about the possibly episodic nature of the series. If it continues with each episode focusing on a different mysterious object or situation, that brisk pace nature will keep my attention for the spring 2024 anime season.

Mysterious Disappearances is available right now to stream on Crunchyroll.

Square Enix will release Final Fantasy XII FFXII themed Moogle board game

Square Enix revealed that it is working on a new board game based on Final Fantasy XII. Its tentative title is Final Fantasy: The Six Moogle Siblings' Mob Hunt, although this name is not finalized yet. The FFXII board game will be available to test at Game Market 2024 Spring.

Square Enix has yet to publish images of the full set, but the card descriptions hint that there will also be some tokens included. Here are the translations for the six cards Square Enix has shared so far:

  • Montblanc: [When the game ends] +2VP on victory
  • Van (a.k.a. Vaan): [Face side] This card can be moved to other fields during your own turn.
  • Morbol (a.k.a. Malboro): [When the game ends] Place a fatigue token on cards with original power of 7 or more when the game ends.
  • Hurdy: [Face side] Draw a card, and then send a card from hand to the bottom of deck.
  • Panelo (a.k.a. Penelo): [When the game ends] Remove all fatigue tokens from your own cards in this field. No more fatigue tokens can be placed in the future.
  • Pylraster: Nullify all [When the game ends] text in cards.

The new FFXII board game will not be the only title Square Enix brings to Game Market 2024 Spring. The company will also sell some of its board games that have already been released. They include Final Fantasy VII Remake: Materia Hunter, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – The Promised Day, and the werewolf game Dragon Quest Zinrou.

Game Market 2024 Spring will take place at Tokyo Big Sight on April 27-28, 2024. Square Enix's booth will be located at Booth #60 on both days. The company will reveal the official title and release date for the Final Fantasy XII-themed board game at a later time.

Room light projector Poke Ball will appear in Japanese Pokemon stores

The Pokemon Company has revealed a new room light projector shaped like the Poke Ball from the Pokemon franchise. The new merchandise will appear in Japanese Pokemon Center stores on April 27, 2024. However, the company did not confirm the item's price alongside this reveal.

This Poke Ball will appear in plain color—similar to a Premier Ball but with yellow lines instead of red. The owner will be able to apply one of the provided films on the ball and turn it on to project Pokemon-themed illustrations.

Closing the ball will make its upper side glow, while opening it will project the light on the room's ceilings and walls. The light will be available in four modes: White Light, Warm Light, Cool Light, and Mix Light.

The seven illustration films that will be available in the set are as follows:

  1. Jirachi's Shooting Stars
  2. Rayquaza
  3. Celebrations with Everyone
  4. Terastal Pokemon
  5. Good Night Wooloo
  6. Eeveelutions' Flower Field
  7. The Ghosts' Advance

This projector is not the only light-themed merchandise The Pokemon Company produces. The company had previously released an LED art frame featuring Koraidon and Miraidon in late March 2024. The frame shows a monochromatic illustration at first, but the owner can turn on its lights to show its true colors.

The Poke Ball-shaped room light projector will be available in Pokemon Center Japan from Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Steam Page Icon Changed

SteamDB noted that the icon for the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake changed on April 19, 2024, which includes a potential new look for protagonist James Sunderland. It suggests the character model for him may be different than in earlier screenshots and trailers. [Thanks, Projekt Parasol!]

To help compare, here's a side-by-side comparison of the Silent Hill HD Collection version of the opening scene of James, the initial Silent Hill 2 remake screenshot of the moment from Steam, and the new icon shared via SteamDB.

Here's a closer look:

Horror Game Central's Will also shared a comparison of the character's possible appearances on social media.

https://twitter.com/ResiEvilCentral/status/1781337876371845515

We've seen a few updates on the game leading up to its eventual debut. For example, the January 2024 State of Play included a new look at the remake's gameplay. The ESRB also shared its rating for it in early April 2024.

The Silent Hill 2 remake is in development for PS5 and PC, and Konami hasn't released a release date yet. Official store pages for the game suggest that the game is "coming soon."

Next Naruto Shippuden Nendoroid Is Shisui Uchiha

A new Naruto Shippuden figure is on the way from Good Smile Company, as a Shisui Uchiha Nendoroid is in the works. He will cost ¥6,200 in Japan and launch in September 2024, while the US storefront says it is $37.99 and will launch worldwide in Q1 2025.

Editor's Note: The official Good Smile Company photos of the Shisui Uchiha Nendoroid include Naruto Shippuden spoilers.

Shisui only comes with two face plates. This is unusual, as most include three. One features him with a stoic expression and his eyes open. The other features both eyes closed and bleeding. He also can be equipped with a kunai and wear a sheathed sword. Various arm parts included, including one of his hand holding the very important object he entrusted to Itachi.

Here's the full gallery showing the photos of the Nendoroid Good Smile Company shared with us. The final shot displays Shisui with the Anbu version of the Itachi Nendoroid to recreate the major scene between the two from the series.

Good Smile Company is also offering a special stand with the Mangekyou Sharingan on it.

The Naruto Shippuden Shisui Uchiha Nendoroid will come to Japan in September 2024, with a worldwide release of the figure coming in Q1 2025. Pre-orders are open until May 29, 2024. Naruto and Boruto are streaming on Crunchyroll, while Viz Media handles the manga releases outside Japan. Uniqlo also recently added a new collection of shirts based on the series.

Book storage with Final Fantasy XIV FFXIV map cover shared by Square Enix for Map Day

The Japanese official X account for Square Enix e-Store shared sharing map themed FFXIV, Octopath Traveler 2, and Triangle Strategy merchandise to coincide with Map Day, which falls on April 19th every year in Japan. None of the items are brand-new, since they have been released for quite a while. However, all of the items listed are still available for purchase on the Japanese Square Enix e-Store.

The first featured item is a 9 cm (~3.54 in) thick and 25 cm (~9.84 in) wide book storage box with the world map of FFXIV as its cover. Square Enix released this item on August 31, 2021, at 3,850 yen (~$24.90).

The second entry on the list is a 40 cm (~15.75 in) long and 23 cm (~9.05 in) wide face towel featuring the map of Solistia from Octopath Traveler 2. This item has been available since February 24, 2023, with a price tag of 1,800 yen (~$11.65).

The third and last item is a ticket case decorated with the Triangle Strategy world map, which has been available since March 4, 2022, at 3,100 yen (~$20). The case is 22 cm (~8.66 in) tall and can go up to 23 cm (~9.05 in) wide when unfolded.

Square Enix's new Japanese tweet covering the Map Day is also available to view right below:

https://twitter.com/sqex_estore/status/1781125021538426961

The Japanese Map Day falls on April 19th every year. The day is not a public holiday, but it still holds significance in Japanese history. This is because the process of producing the first-ever accurately measured map of Japan officially began on April 19, 1800.

Nintendo and Studio Alice released Mario and Luigi kimonos for kids photograph sessions in Japan

Nintendo revealed that Studio Alice released a set of kimonos inspired by Mario and Luigi intended for children's photographs. People can immediately make reservations to have their kids wear the kimonos at most of Studio Alice's 460 outlets across Japan, as only the ones that also cover kids and are not dedicated to babies will offer them.

Studio Alice added that these kimonos will be best suited to prepare for the Shichi-Go-San children's festival, which falls on November 15th every year. However, the clothing will only suit children aged three to five, with sizes ranging around 100-110 cm.

The outer Haori coat is made to be reversible, so the studio will be able to quickly dress the children as both Mario and Luigi. Studio Alice will also provide new Mario-themed photo collection books to customers who reserve the kimono photographs.

Prior to the kimonos, Studio Alice has also been offering the regular Mario costume for children and babies' photographs. Other than birthday photos, the studio also offers sets that let babies ride on Yoshi and children rise from warp pipes.

These new kimonos are only available for kids. However, there have been other Mario-themed apparel released for adults in the past. In late 2021, Gelato Pique released loungewear sets inspired by Mario and Yoshi for men, women, and children in Japan.

The Mario and Luigi-themed kimonos for kids are readily available in regular Studio Alice outlets across Japan.

Universal Studios Japan announced a delay to the new zone's opening via its X account. The Donkey Kong Country's opening, which was originally slated for Spring 2024, is now delayed to the latter half of 2024.

To compensate for the delayed opening, Universal Studios has newly uploaded two CG trailers featuring the Donkey Kong Country zone on its YouTube channel. If you're lucky enough to be playing XDefiant and have been stumped by the Delta 1 error code, here is how to fix it. With every beta test, a lot of issues will arise, and this is just one of them Ubisoft will be investigating all the bugs and error codes that are plaguing the game at the moment.      How To Use The Bow In No Rest For The Wicked Featured Image(1)The bows in No Rest for the Wicked are weird. They can be strangely tricky to use. To learn how to use the bow in No Rest for the Wicked, keep on reading. No Rest for the Wicked: How to use the bow Normally, in ARPGs, if you equip a range weapon like the bow to your primary weapon slot (provided you are the class that uses the bow), it works automatically. For one reason or another, like finding a shovel, using ranged weapons will have you going through some hoops in No Rest for the Wicked.  The first thing you should do is if you have a bow, place it in your secondary weapon slot. It still won't work if you equip it. For your primary slot, equip any melee weapon, this will be important.  Image: Moon Studios GmbH Next, instead of collecting arrows, you'll need to generate Focus to use the bow. So keep attacking with your melee weapon, because that builds up the Focus. Additionally, have runes that help speed up...
