In the halls of TechRadar I’ve been calling this “M4 Week”. Apple’s new silicon systems have dominated our thoughts over the past few days, with four new Macs to review, including two MacBook Pros, a new iMac, and the redesigned and almost cute Mac mini. In short, the M4 in all its flavors is a winner, as are the new machines running it.
Apple also managed to hog much of the AI space this week with the public beta release of iOS 18.2, which affords users access to some of the best bits of Apple Intelligence. Genmojis, in particular, has convinced one member of the team that Apple’s brand of Artificial Intelligence is a winner. I’m still waiting for access to Image Playground (and biding my time by coding with ChatGPT).
I think 2025 might be the year of the mobile CPU shakeup (and maybe the year of the tri-fold smartphone). After Qualcomm unveiled its new Snapdragon Elite chip at its developer conference in Hawaii (with partner Samsung by its side) we’re already seeing leaked benchmarks for the new chip – and let’s just say “wow”.
Speaking of wow, there’s a new PlayStation on the market, the PS5 Pro. It’s more powerful than the regular PS5, and it looks a bit different to the previous iterations (it’s maybe thinner), but it also lacks a disc drive. Still, our Gaming Editor Rob Dwiar likes it very much.
When you’re not playing games on your new console, maybe you’ll curl up with a book. If it were me, I’d split the difference and read a graphic novel on the new Amazon Kindle Colorsoft, the company’s first color ereader. It’s expensive, but as you’ll see from our review we think it’s worth recommending.
You might want to wait a couple of weeks to buy it, though, because Black Friday is fast approaching, and if there’s one thing we can count on it’s that Amazon will discount its own devices.

Google is rumored to be working on a next-gen AI agent codenamed Jarvis that can take on actual computing tasks for you – like shopping for products on the web – and it seems that an extension for the under-wraps project has appeared ahead of time.
Watch out Apple, because the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could be the most powerful phone on the planet when it arrives in January – or at least it will be if we can believe leaked benchmark scores that have just made their way online.
There’s only one thing we’re going to be streaming this weekend – and that’s Arcane season 2, the hugely successful Netflix animated show’s final chapter. But, if you’d prefer something else, there’s plenty more to check out on Disney Plus and Prime Video.
