PCGamesN Sunday, February 9, 2025 7:45 AM ![]() I love the style of classic '90s RPGs. All the old-school Diablo, Fallout, and Baldur's Gate games have such a delightful visual style that definitely shows its age, but still holds up because of how intentional it all looks. Everything feels grimy and rusty, but teeming with life at the same time. This is the exact presentation Halls of Torment is going for. The Vampire Survivors-inspired horde game is one of the most beloved of its kind on Steam, and now that 1.0 has been here for a while, we've got our first major update with plenty of free additions. PCGamesN Sunday, February 9, 2025 7:00 AM ![]() Lately, I've been thinking about reputation. Specifically, I've been thinking about how certain videogames become caricatures of themselves. Dark Souls is perhaps the prime example. Here we have an action RPG that warns prospective players to "prepare to die" in its definitive edition, whose difficulty is so lionized by its community that "git gud" has become its timeless refrain. This forbidding facade meant it took me over half a decade to finally sit down and play Dark Souls, only to discover that it's my ideal comfort game. Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a bit like that. PCGamesN Sunday, February 9, 2025 6:33 AM ![]() Things may be quiet on the XCOM 3 front, but we're not short of fantastic turn-based RPGs. From the mighty Baldur's Gate 3 to 2024's joyous Tactical Breach Wizards, we've been spoiled for choice. Just out on Steam, new roguelike strategy game Astral Throne might become the PC's answer to Fire Emblem, much as Wargroove did for Advance Wars. It offers full party customization with dozens of classes and hundreds of skills, those delicious weapon triangles, and even an intriguing narrative with multiple potential endings to discover. PCGamesN Sunday, February 9, 2025 6:06 AM ![]() Nothing beats the feeling of a good grappling hook. Zipping into the shadows as Batman. Tethering people to helicopters in Just Cause. Flying across the map in seconds in Titanfall 2. The tool is, quite frankly, the best movement option in whatever game you're playing, as it exemplifies complete freedom to maneuver as you see fit. That's why I was immediately drawn to Grapples Galore while browsing Steam, as the free-to-play arena shooter has just left early access with a huge new update. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Sunday, February 9, 2025 6:00 AM ![]() Sometimes you read a piece of criticism and its author immediately becomes one of your guys. That never happened for me with music critic Neil Kulkarni, though I must have read his work given the music magazines he wrote for. That changed a couple of weeks ago when I went to Kieron's (RPS in peace) newsletter in search of his piece in rememberance of J Nash (included in a prior Papers), in which he linked to his similar piece on Kulkarni, who passed last year. I read the examples of Kulkarni's work that Kieron linked, and then the Kulkarni articles the man himself linked, and several hours and several layers deep, I thought: oh no, Neil Kulkarni was one of my guys. |

Taito featured multiple Spiritale figure reveals at WonFes 2025 Winter, and one of them ended up being a first look at the cute Bridget figure based on her Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R appearance. This is the first time an actual physical version of this product appeared, as the company only previously shared concept and announcement art.
This figure will be a 1/7 scale model. That means it will probably be between eight and ten inches tall when it is finished. She has her nun's coif and veil on her head and is wearing her blue and white dress. Her yo-yo is in her left hand. Roger the teddy bear is behind her. Her handcuff is also around her waist, as usual. The design is intended to replicate official art of the character from Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R.
Here's how the Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R figure of the character is looking so far:

Spiritale released another Guilty Gear Bridget figure not too long ago. However, that one was based on her Guilty Gear Strive look. It debuted in March 2024 worldwide. That was also a 1/7 scale figure, and it stood at over 10 inches tall.
There's no release window for this Spiritale Bridget figure yet, and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is available on the Switch, PS3, Vita, Xbox 360, and PC.

Good Smile Company showcased three Rebuild of Evangelion figures at WonHobby 39, with two being Asuka Shikinami Langley and Rei Ayanami swimsuit figures that are part of the company's Beach Queens collection and Pop Up Parade lines. The third is a Qset+ Kaworu Nagisa and Shinji Ikari figure.
Both the Asuka and Rei figures are the two that we'll see appear first. Both appeared at the painted prototype phase at the event. Since they're Pop Up Parade figures, they won't come with extra parts or accessories. However, they are part of the Pop Up Parade L line, so they'll be larger than seven inches like standard models. Asuka has a red and white striped swim tank on with a cover up and wears jean shorts. She's holding a squirt gun and looks like she's running in her pose. Rei is wearing a white bikini with blue hoodie over it. She's standing while holding a white and yellow inflatable tube.
Here's how the Asuka and Rei Rebuild of Evangelion swimsuit figures look:

We saw a few other Beach Queens figures announced last year in 2024. However, those weren't of Evangelion heroines. Rather, they were Alice, Asuna, and Leafa from Sword Art Online. We'll start seeing some of those appear in stores in 2025.
Meanwhile, the Qset+ Kaworu Nagisa and Shinji Ikari figure only showed up as an unpainted prototype. The two are sitting next to each other and smiling while wearing school uniforms. They're listening to music from Shinji's SDAT player together, with each one having one of the two headphones in their ears.
This is the most recent photo of that one:

Good Smile Company shared updates on four Fire Emblem: Three Houses figures at WonHobby 39, with the female Byleth figma and Dorothea Arnault, Hilda Valentine Goneril, and Sylvain Jose Gautier Pop Up Parade appearing at the event. The three Pop Up Parade figures all showed up as painted prototypes, so it's likely we'll see pre-orders for them in the next few weeks.
First, here's how the Byleth figma of the female version of our avatar in Fire Emblem: Three Houses is looking so far. As this is a posable figure, there's full articulation at the ankles, knees, hips, waist, wrists, elbows, shoulders, torso, and neck. She's wielding her Sword of the Creator in the example photo, showing it will be included as an accessory.
Here's how she looks so far:

The Dorothea, Hilda, and Sylvain Fire Emblem: Three Houses figures all are based on their appearances from the outset of the game. This means each one is wearing their Garreg Mach Monastery Officers Academy uniform. As the Pop Up Parades have standardized pricing and previous ones already appeared in this line, we have an idea of how much they'll be. The Edelgard von Hresvelg one was $43.99, for example, but both the male and female Byleth ones were $33.99 each. So these three should fall into that price range.
Here's the full gallery showing all of them:

There are quite a few Pop Up Parade Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters already available. Here's the list:
There were also other items like a Edelgard figma, Edelgard scale figure, and Dimitri scale figure.
There's no release windows for the Fire Emblem: Three Houses female Byleth figma or Dorothea, Hilda, and Sylvain figures yet, and the game is available on the Nintendo Switch worldwide.
