John Ardissonne: What do you think the first video game was. Pong? Good guess. Pong came out in 1972. Flashback 25 years to 1947. Two years after the end of World War II the missile displays used during the war inspired Thomas T Goldsmith and Estle Ray Mann to create the cathode ray tube Amusement device. It is the earliest known interactive game using a cathode ray tube. The device was never marketed or sold to the public but it was patented on January 25th 1948.
