FIFA 21 — How to Complete the Marcel Sabitzer Player SBC

FIFA 21 is beginning to wrap up its annual Team of the Year promotion. However, just because it's almost over doesn't mean that EA Sports is going to stop dropping content. Of course, whether that content is good or not is another conversation entirely. Today, they've given us a TOTY Honourable Mentions Marcel Sabitzer. The Austrian obviously fits in with all of the Bundesliga players in the TOTY, but the value just isn't there. Give him a look.

Look, he's not a completely terrible card, but for well over 500,000 coins, he's certainly not worth completing. Even if you're the world's biggest RB Leipzig fan, I don't think this is remotely worth it. And, I will continue to complain that Thomas Muller still hasn't been involved in this promo. The man only set the Bundesliga assist record while winning the league crown and taking the Champions League trophy. But sure, let's give it to Sabitzer.

It gets even worse when you remember that we just had an incredibly cheap Paulo Dybala Player Moments card leave SBCs. That card was worth it even if you don't run Serie A, and it's markedly better than this Sabitzer. Don't do this SBC. Please. I won't know if you do, but I'll be very disappointed in you. That said, if you absolutely have to, see below for some inspirations via the solutions I've put together.

FIFA 21 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. TOTY has two more days in packs, so here's hoping they end it with a bang.

GameStop Stocks Soar, Plummet, and Soar Again Thanks to Reddit

gamestop

Last week has been a proverbial rollercoaster concerning the stock market thanks to two unlikely sources: GameStop and Reddit. It all started when the subreddit r/wallstreetbets discovered that hedge funds were short squeezing GameStop (GME) stocks. So they decided to buy the stocks up instead, which made prices skyrocket and eventually cost investors billions.

Prices kept surging and on Thursday went up by over 40 percent and reached a fever pitch of over $400 per share. Then Robinhood, one of the most popular online and fee-free stock trading sites, restricted trading in GameStop and other hot stocks such as AMC (AMC), BlackBerry (BB), Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY), and Nokia (NOK) that same day. According to an official statement: "We continuously monitor the markets and make changes where necessary. In light of recent volatility, we are restricting transactions for certain securities to position closing only."

The policy change caused the stock to drop more than 44 percent. However, after significant backlash Robinhood rescinded and allowed for restricted trading on Friday. Despite its volatility, the stock has overall gone up nearly 950% from just under $20 at the end of 2020 to the current price of about $195 by Friday.

The phenomenon that started this crazy chain of events is called a short squeeze. Basically an investor or short seller who thinks a stock will fall borrows the shares and sells them, with the hopes of buying them back at a lower price and pocketing the difference before paying back the loan. The drawback is that a short seller can be hurt if the stock they borrowed keeps increasing in price. Technically these losses are infinite, which creates another buying spree as short sellers rush to buy back the stock before it moves even higher. This is exactly what redditors did to hedge funders when they bought up the stock, costing them those aforementioned billions.

Between plans to reboot their storeslaying off at least 50 employees and the company's CFO of nine years resigning, GameStop has had a rough several years. And the pandemic hasn't been kind to the retail chain either. Gamestop closed over 300 stores, including all locations in the state of Massachusetts in 2020, and in spite of decent holiday sales the chain is still losing money.

Silent Hill Appears in Another Game That Isn't Its Own

Silent Hill Dark Deception

Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals, a multiplayer horror part game, has partnered up with Konomi to bring over some Silent Hill DLC.

As noted by Eurogamer, the details that were revealed were incredibly slim. All that was shown was a brief trailer that showed off that the crossover was indeed happening.

In the teaser trailer, some radio static can be heard along with some familiar words: "In my restless dreams, I see that town… Silent Hill." This could possibly be hinting that the crossover would contain content from the second title in the series, a fan-favorite from the series.

However, the images that were shown behind some text in the trailer appear to be from Silent Hill 3 and it ends with an image from the first game, so it could be from all of the first three games. You can take a look at the teaser trailer in the video below.

As I alluded to in the title, this isn't the first time Silent Hill has appeared in some type of crossover. Last year, Pyramid Head appeared in a Silent Hill DLC in Dead by Daylight on top of a new map.

While fans of Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals appear to be very excited for this crossover, fans of the iconic horror games seem to have grown tired of all of these appearances in other games rather than creating one of its own.

There still appears to be some hope as Konami has stated that it has not shut down its gaming division while the company has gone through some internal restructues. However, rumors of a reboot of the series have been shut down by the company in the past.

Frame Rate and Resolution for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Has Been Revealed

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury New Trailer

For the last couple of years, Nintendo has ported over a large portion of the popular titles from the Wii U's catalog. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze were all fantastic titles, but we Wii U die-hards had been asking for Super Mario 3D World to come over as well. Nintendo has finally answered our prayers with a port of the game and these are the specs you can expect to see.

Game Reactor went hands-on with the game and was able to detail out the resolution and frame rate for both the base game and the new Bowser's Fury mode. Super Mario 3D World will run at 1080p, 60 FPS while the Switch is docked and 720p, 60 FPS when playing portably. Bowser's Fury will run at 720p, 60 FPS while docked and 720p, 30 FPS when playing portably. It should be noted that the resolution of the latter could possibly be higher since the source didn't clarify between docked and undocked.

We already know the port is going to be running much faster compared to the original title on the Wii U. For comparisons, the Wii U version ran at 720p, 60 fps.

I can't wait to jump back into this excellent game. I beat it when it released all the way back in 2013 and fully intended on 100% completing it, but once you go down that rabbit hole, you probably will move onto something else. On top, of the already excellent original game, Bowser's Fury looks like a fusion of 3D Worlds platforming with Super Mario Odyssey's fantastic open world atmosphere.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is set to release next month on February 12 for the Nintendo Switch.

Epic Games, fortnite, gi joe, Nintendo, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PS4, PS5, Snake Eyes, Switch, xbox, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, xbox series x

Recently the official Fortnite Twitter account began teasing a brand new event/crossover with a "radio transmission" message from Agent Jones. The message strongly implied that Snake Eyes would be the next introduced as the next character, and a new status update confirmed that the iconic ninja is currently available for purchase:

Predator also appeared in Fortnite: Chapter 2, Season 5, where players can track down and challenge the infamous alien warrior through a series of Jungle Hunter Quests. In return, players can unlock the Predator skin and various other cosmetics inspired by the iconic character from the Predator film franchise.

The Terminator franchise also got its shine through the Future War bundle, which comes with two "ready-for-battle" outfits for Sarah Connor, the T-800 Endoskeleton Arm Back Bling and Combat Knife item. For the T-800 the pack includes the skin, a custom emote and the HK Sky Net Uplink Back Bling and Techno-Grip Axe.

Not to mention they even partnered with some top football clubs — including Manchester City FC, Inter Milan and Seatle Sounders FC — as well as world football superstar Pelé to bring in tons of new football cosmetics along with his famous celebration as an emote to the store. Fortnite has been featuring plenty of other popular characters from various medias including The Mandalorian and The Walking Dead alongside iconic gaming characters like God of War's Kratos and Halo's Master Chief.

Fortnite is available now on mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Epic has also released an enhanced version of the game for both Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles which includes 4K resolution and a "smooth" frame rate of 60 FPS.

The Legend of Zelda "Hero of Time" Now Comes in Cardboard

Breath of the Wild, Breath of the Wild 2, Nintendo, Nintendo Switch, the-legend-of-zelda, Link, fanart

Reddit user CactusComics recently showed off their own talent for cardboard art by sculpting Link entirely from the unusual material. And in the vein of the many other The Legend of Zelda fan works, the project's final result came out absolutely stunning:

Breath of the Wild, Breath of the Wild 2, Nintendo, Nintendo Switch, the-legend-of-zelda, Link, fanart

What's most impressive about this work is how the artist managed to create such intricate layers and details on the clothes and shield with this normally difficult to work with material. Not to mention pulling it all off with such a limited color palette. Hopefully they consider creating more characters in this style in the future.

Etsy shop Pigminted features some truly gorgeous wood carvings of box art and in-game screens from Nintendo franchises including The Legend of Zelda. Dave Rapoza — a Freelance Illustrator, Concept Artist, and Comic Artist — drew incredible fanart of Link and Ganon. And this father built the ultimate The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild playhouse for his kids. Illustrator @comfycorduroy drew several Breath of the Wild pieces reenacting several iconic scenes from Studio Ghibi's Princess Mononoke. And back in August, another talented artist by the name of Jo (@BigSkyCastle on Twitter) created several Breath of the Wild illustrations in the breezier and lighter Studio Ghibli style.

Then there's this nifty 3D printed breakable pot one fan made and showed off. If you're a chef in the making, you can pick up a copy of the The Unofficial Legend of Zelda Cookbook. An extremely talented artist combined scenes from the upcoming Breath of the Wild 2 with the artstyle from the recent Link's Awakening remake. Another artist created A Link Between Worlds diorama using the shell of a Gameboy. There's an absolutely stunning Studio Ghibli-style Breath of the Wild fan animated trailer, while a dedicated fan spent two years recreating Breath of the Wild weapons.

We also have an animated pixel art mockup of a dungeon scene from Zelda II. The winner for last year's official Link's Awakening fanworks contest was revealed, with some great submissions from plenty of talented artists. And if you want something incredible from outside this contest, there's this fantastic 3D printed recreation of Koholint Island from the game. The artist even provides a tutorial at the end of their video in case anyone else wanted to make one for themselves.

Some other works include Link's house from Breath of the Wild faithfully created using Lego blocks, this lovely Sheikah runes phone charger, art of Twilight Princess meets Breath of the Wild, fanart of Link in the vibrant forest from Majora's Mask, a recreation of the Breath of the Wild lantern, a bottle of Lon Lon milk from Ocarina of Time, and an alarm clock that plays A Link to the Past's theme.

Check out our glowing review of the first BOTW by our Editor-in-Chief. The sequel is on its way and the cast recently revealed that all voice work has been recorded.

Last year the official Pokemon Twitter account announced that the franchise would hold some sort of "celebration" in 2021 to mark the series' 25 year anniversary. So far we've gotten a New Pokemon Snap trailer which revealed it would launch on April 30th, Pokemon toys coming back to McDonald's Happy Meals, and rumors of a Pokemon Diamond/Pearl remake (or rumors suggesting more along the lines of the Let's Go route by focusing on Johto as the next set of remakes).

According to Nintendo's recent financial results, Pokemon Sword and Shield are now the third best selling Pokemon games of all time. The pair have now sold 18.22 million copies in just nine months and sit just behind Gold and Silver in the lifetime sales chart. And if you're one of those buyers, reading up on our guide on how to train Pokemon EVs and breed perfect IVs for competitive play is a great way to learn how to strengthen your team.

From Nintendo's nine-month earnings report, it was revealed that Sword and Shield has sold more than 16 million copies since its November release, becoming the biggest highlight in an already strong fiscal year for the company. The latest NPD data, the latest installment in the long running series has the highest launch month dollar sales in Pokemon franchise history. And for the month of November, Sword was the third best selling game, the double pack including both titles ranking at fourth place, and Shield being in fifth place. However, if you combined those sales then total it would bring them to the number two spot.

Pokemon Sword and Shield released for Nintendo Switch on November 15th, 2019. Meanwhile check out our in-depth review for the game here, in which we state that "Sword and Shield are a lot of fun, even if the series is experiencing growing pains with the transition to home consoles."

Persona 5 Strikers Interview Features Morgana and Ryuji VAs — For Real?

Atlus, Nintendo, Nintendo Switch, Omega Force, P Studio, P5, P5S, PC, Persona, Persona 5, Persona 5 Strikers, PS4, Switch, Ryuji

Leading up to the launch of Persona 5 Strikers, Cassandra Lee Morris (Morgana's VA) has been interviewing her cast members quarantine style in a fun and informative series of "Voice Actors Chat."

The most recent one stars Ryuji's VA, Max Mittelman, in which the two (according to the official description) "chat about college, how we got started in VO, swap stories about projects we've been in together (Bugsnax!!) and stuff we've been doing since the world changed." And they don't even try to kill each other in the process:

Check out her previous cast interviews here, which are just as fun and entertaining.

A brand new Persona 5 Strikers "Strike Back" trailer was released earlier this week, featuring the entire cast. And before the "All-Out Attack" trailer made its debut, which shows off some of the flashy attacks and combos that Joker and the rest of the Phantom Thieves can pull off throughout the game. Previously released was a video featuring the voice cast react to the original Western release announcement trailer, alongside the reveal of Zenkichi Hasegawa's English voice actor.

Preorders are currently live for the game now, with several versions available for purchase. The standard and digital editions of Persona 5 Strikers will include a copy of the game's soundtrack with 40 music tracks, a digital artbook, and a behind-the-scenes video on the making of some of its original music. Additionally, a SteelBook edition for the Switch version is available at Best Buy, while those that pre-order any version of the game at GameStop will get a free collectible Joker pin.

Aside from the standard edition, Atlus will also be offering a Digital Deluxe Edition ($69.99) across all three versions that will offer legacy music packs featuring music from across the Persona franchise (including Persona 3 & 4), and an All-Out Pack with extra items and bonuses. The Digital Deluxe Edition will also offer players that preorder with four days of early access to the game before its official release, which will unlock on February 19th, 2021.

Persona 5 Strikers will release in the west on February 23rd, 2021 for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. For more on the game, you can read our full preview of 30 minutes of gameplay from its upcoming western release from Editor-in-Chief Ryan Meitzler.

GoldenEye XBLA Remaster Gameplay Has Leaked Online

GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64 was not only one of the defining games of the generation but was also one of the most defining games of all time. It is often remembered as one of the best first-person shooters ever made and also a top game in terms of licensed products. With that said, we never got to see a remaster of the game due to complex licensing issues. We did get a remake on the Wii, but a canceled remaster on the Xbox 360 has surfaced online.

A YouTube channel named Graslu00 (via GameSpot) posted a full playthrough of the game. On top of that, some multiplayer content was shown off as well. From the looks of it, the title looks as if it was complete and had the rug pulled from underneath it before it could release. Phil Spencer said Xbox has "always given up" on getting the rights-holders to work with them to publish it. You can take a look at the full playthroguh in the attached video below.

To get into the complexity of the license. Rare developed GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64. Rare was later then purchased by Microsoft, however, Nintendo had still published the original, further complicating the matter. Then, Activision somehow got into the action as it published the remake on the Wii.

For those who wanted a remaster more than a full-blown remake, you might be a little saddened to watch the video. Other than some graphical improvements and better character models, this is practically the same game as the original.

In other Jame Bond news, IO Interactive, the developers behind the Hitman series and the recently released Hitman 3, is dipping its toes into the series. The announcement of a new James Bond game from the studio was a surprising one since the licensing issues have been such a pain.

Reggie Fils-Aimé Admits the Switch Was a "Make or Break Product" After the Poorly Received Wii U

Reggie Fils-Aime

As of right now, the Nintendo Switch has been a major success for Nintendo. The device is passing major sales records with ease and doesn't look like it is stopping anytime soon. Nintendo must be relieved with the reception it has received, especially after a comment by Nintendo of America's former president Reggie Fils-Aimé.

The former president appeared on a New York Gaming Awards Twitch stream earlier in the week. He was asked what his defining achievement was during his tenure at the company. On top of that, he touched on the transition between the Wii U to the Switch.

Reggie stated: "You know, Nintendo has done so many innovations in the space… I think what Nintendo did with the Switch, after the poor performance of Wii U, I think to me and what I was part of, that's my lasting memory."

He continued on and noted just how poor the Wii U did for the company. Reggie even alluded to the disastrous Virtual Boy. "People forget, when the Wii U launched, the performance over that life cycle was so poor, I mean it was the worst-selling platform, I think maybe Virtual Boy was a little bit worse, but Wii U underperformed pretty radically in the marketplace," Reggie stated.

The former president continued: "And when your only business is video games that next had to be successful and the Switch continues to be a dynamic platform – selling exceptionally well. And the ability for the company to come up with the concept, to bring it to life, to bring it to the marketplace, to have not only great first-party content but great third party and independent developer content – that is going to be something I will always be proud of."

He concluded by stating just how important the launch of the Switch was for Nintendo. "Along with so many of the other things I was part of, but the Switch really was a make or break product for the company and luckily it was a hit."

As noted by Nintendo Life, the Switch has run circles around the sales of the Wii U.  The hybrid device is closing in on 70 million console sales in just about 4 years on the market. The Wii U only sold a little over 13 million units since its release back in 2012.

Everyone now knows just how disastrous of a time it was to be a Nintendo fan from around 2014-2016. However, Reggie notes just how bad it was if the next console was a "make or break" for the company.

At the time, the Wii U was an underpowered console that nobody other than Nintendo wanted to develop games for. On top of that, nobody wanted to play Nintendo's games either. It was such a strange time for the company that I am happy to say is in the past.
