Bullet-hell Shooter Demon Throttle Announced By Devolver Digital

It's just the first day of E3 2021, and announcements have been flooding in rapidly. Following the Guerilla Collective Showcase and Ubisoft's Forward conference, Devolver Digital announced a bunch of new games during its Devolver Max Pass Plus event- that's certainly a mouthful. One such game is Dionksoft's upcoming Demon Throttle.

Demon Throttle is a bullet-hell shooter with stylized 8-bit graphics. The trailer, which you can check out below, shows some incredibly stylish cinematics, reminiscent of Hideo Kojima's Policenauts. The game's story revolves around a vampiress and a gunslinger on a revenge mission against a demon.

Demon Throttle will be a physical-only game, releasing exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in 2022. Pre-orders are live on Special Reserve Games' website. With the games industry steadily moving into an all-digital era, Doinksoft and Devolver Digital's decision to go the physical-only route is certainly questionable, particularly in light of scalpers selling consoles and physical games at extraneous prices.

Devolver Tumble Time Is A Free-to-Play Mobile Game Coming Later This Year

Devolver Digital has finally pulled the curtain for many of its upcoming titles during its Devolver Max Pass Plus event. The event itself was a parody of microtransaction-laden game releases as well as the increasingly popular subscription services and live-service models, but developer Npopo has plans of entering the mobile space through its upcoming game called Devolver Tumble Time.

The hilariously self-aware trailer for Devolver Tumble Time showcases some of Devolver Digital's most popular mascots, such as Shadow Warrior's Lo Wang and Serious Sam in a "physics-based puzzle" game. While the gameplay looks quite simple, the character designs are incredibly adorable. The game will be coming to mobile platforms later this year, and pre-registrations for the game are now live.

The Tumble Time trailer is an accurate representation of everything predatory about free-to-play experiences. Devolver Digital seems to embrace the fact, with the game's website making fun of itself with trash can loot boxes. Check out the full trailer below.

Inscryption is a Twisted New Horror Deck-Builder, Launching Later This Year

Devolver Digital have announced Inscryption during their E3 2021 stream. It's the next game from Daniel Mullins, developer of acclaimed indie hits Pony Island and The Hex.

Inscryption is a blend of several genres, in true Mullins fashion. It will combine elements of the roguelike deck-building genre with with puzzles styled like escape room challenges, with a healthy dash of psychological horror thrown in there. Players will "acquire a deck of woodland creature cards by draft, surgery, and self mutilation," which sounds all kinds of twisted (and more than a little intriguing). Check out its announcement trailer below.

Inscryption will launch some time later this year for PC. An exact release date hasn't yet been announced, and there's no word yet on whether it will also launch for other platforms.

During their E3 2021 stream, Devolver Digital announced several new games, including Trek to Yomi and Wizard with a Gunwhile also providing updates on previously announced upcoming releases like Shadow Warrior 3, Phantom Abyssand Death's Door. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more E3 coverage.

Death's Door Launches on July 20

Developer Acid Nerve's isometric action game Death's Door has been turning heads. Recently, we got a look at some gameplay, and in their E3 stream today, publisher Devolver Digital provided another update on it, and confirmed a specific release date. Death's Door is launching on July 20.

Death's Door has a fascinating premise, and sees you playing as an ordinary Crow that reaps the souls of the dead. When a soul assigned to you is stolen, it falls to you to track down the thief and finish what's, in essence, just an ordinary day job for you.

The combat looks fast paced and frantic, mixing magic, melee, and ranged weapons, and squaring you off against all sorts of enemies, from beasts to demigods. The art style and the setting put together are promising what should be quite an interesting adventure. Take a look at its newest trailer below.

When Death's Door launches on July 20, it will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.

Homeworld 3 is Now in Production

During Gearbox Software's E3 2021 presentation, Blackbird Interactive confirmed that Homeworld 3 is now in production. No gameplay footage or anything else of note was revealed, aside from some reminiscing about the Homeworld series being the first RTS to have a fully 3D axis.

Homeworld 3 was announced in August 2019 and available for funding through Fig for $1. A teaser trailer was provided but we wouldn't see any more footage until two years later (that too just 28 seconds). Nevertheless, the developer promises to adhere to the classic gameplay elements that made the older games so beloved.

Homeworld 3 is currently in development for PC but it's far from the only title that Blackbird has in development. Its space ship salvaging title Hardspace: Shipbreaker is still in early access while the company announced it was working on CrossFire: Legion, a fast-paced RTS based on SmileGate's FPS franchise that releases in 2022. Stay tuned for more details from Gearbox's presentation in the meantime.

Wizard with a Gun is a Co-op Sandbox Survival Game, Out in 2022

In addition to providing updates on previously announced games (like Shadow Warrior 3 and Phantom Abyss), Devolver Digital also announced entirely new games (like Trek to Yomi). Another one of those is Wizard with a Gun, a co-op multiplayer sandbox survival title that's looking, in a word, fascinating.

So what exactly is it? It can be played solo or with other players, and will see you traversing fantastical wildernesses. Crafting mechanics will entail creating weapons and bullets and the like, but also expanding and decking out your tower, which will serve as your home base. Meanwhile, everything from magical powers and weapons to the whimsical wizards you play as will be customizable. The game is also promising systemic and emergent gameplay, while each of the biomes you visit is going to be procedurally generated, so it definitely seems like replability won't be lacking. Check out the announcement trailer below.

Wizard with a Gun will launch some time in 2022 for PC and Nintendo Switch.

Phantom Abyss Launches in Early Access on June 22

Devolver Digital announced the Team WIBY-developed asynchronous multiplayer game Phantom Abyss last month, and during their recent E3 2021 stream, they provided another update on the game, while also confirming the exact release date for its early access launch. Previously confirmed for June, that's now been narrowed down to a specific June 22 launch date. A trailer also showcases new gameplay. Take a look below.

Phantom Abyss will throw players into procedurally generated temple maps in each match, tasking you to retrieve relics hidden inside of their chambers. Traps, various different kinds of enemies, environmental challenges, and more will be hurdles along your way, while phantom attempts from failed attempts of previous players will also come into play. It sounds interesting, to say the least.

Phantom Abyss is currently only announced for PC, and there's no word on when the game will launch in full- but its early access reveal is right around the corner, so there's that.

Trek to Yomi is a Cinematic Action Game Launching in 2022

During their E3 2021 showcase, Devolver Digital unveiled a brand new game from Leonard Menchiari and developer Flying Wild Hog. Trek to Yomi is a gorgeous, cinematic, sidescrolling action game set in fuedal Japan, and it's looking fascinating.

You will play as a samurai, the young swordsman Hiroki, who made a vow to his master before his death that he would protect his town from all threats. The game sports a black and white colour pallet and Japanese voice overs, and combat that's looking more than a little bit like Ghost of Tsushima. In fact, the game is evoking Ghost of Tsushima in more ways than one. Take a look at it below.

Trek to Yomi launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC some time in 2022, though a more specific launch date for the game hasn't yet been confirmed. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more reveals and updates from E3.

Shadow Warrior 3 Gameplay Trailer Showcases Brutal Action

Devolver Digital's E3 shows are always an enjoyable romp, and to kick off their E3 2021 Direct, they showcased another new gameplay trailer of Flying Wild Hog's upcoming first person shooter Shadow Warrior 3. The shooter is continuing to look brutal and packed with frantic action, and traversal, shooting, and melee combat seem to be coming together rather nicely in the game's accelerated action. Take a look at it below.

In previous trailer, Devolver Digital have showcased various aspects of Shadow Warrior 3, including its nasty enemies, its weapons, even more of its weapons, the gleefully excessive gore in the game, and much more. For fans of bloody fast paced shooters, this is looking like quite a treat.

Shadow Warrior 3 is out some time this year for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. No, native versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S haven't been announced, and yes, we still don't know the game's exact release date.
