Shawn Layden Discusses Why He Left Sony

Shawn Layden has been one of the most popular PlayStation executives in the companies history, and for good reason, since he helped the platform rise to the level of success it currently enjoys, though his departure has remained a mystery in the two years since he left, until he discussed exactly why in an interview with Bloomberg.

Layden explains in the interview why he left, citing a feeling of being burnt out not just within his position but with the industry as a whole. Once God Of War and Horizon Zero Dawn were off and running as major hits, Layden saw his chance to go out on a high note, and took it.

"It's a young persons activity. I felt: This is a good time to put the pin in my legacy. A good time to step off on top and allow another generation to take the PlayStation 5 to market."

As far as how he feels two years later, Layden "couldn't be happier", so clearly he made the right move for himself.

Overwatch League Season 5 Will Use An Early Build Of Overwatch 2 And Begin April 2022

Besides Diablo II: Resurrected, it would be a fair bet to call Overwatch 2 the most anticipated upcoming Blizzard game, and on top of rumours surrounding a 2022 release, a new report confirms that Blizzard does at least plan to show off Overwatch 2 in some capacity in less than a years time, with an early build set to be used for Overwatch League Season 5.

The news comes from website Rock Paper Shotgun where Overwatch League vice president Jon Spector says "I've seen a lot of speculation regarding a 2022 start date for OWL. We can confirm that our plan is to begin next season in April 2022. We will share more details about 2022 roster construction timelines soon and more info generally on our 2022 season as we get closer to April."

The report also notes that an Overwatch League representative confirmed the early build of Overwatch 2 being included to website Kotaku, which tied together with the rumours around a summer 2022 launch and the confirmation that season 5 will start in April gives us a much clearer idea on when Blizzard is aiming to have Overwatch 2 out into the wild.

In the meantime, it seems like the beginning of Overwatch League Season 5 may be the earliest we get to see Overwatch 2.

Turbo Overkill Is A New Cyberpunk Arena Shooter Coming To PS5 And PS4

If you ever looked at your knee and wondered if you could make a deadly weapon out of it by attaching a spinning sawblade, then not only are you correct, but you're not the only one, as Turbo Overkill proves there are more than a few people who thought it was a good idea to add in this new arena shooter coming to PS5 and PS4.

Developed by Trigger Happy Interactive and published by Apogee Entertainment, described as an "ultraviolent cyberpunk FPS", Turbo Overkill was born out of a mod for DOOM II, and now its getting set to launch on all consoles including PS5 and PS4 sometime in 2022.

Turbo Overkill is also a bit of a clash between the basic plot of Blade Runner in that you're hunting down a rogue AI and DOOM, as you'll be doing a lot more shooting than Ryan Reynolds or Harrison Ford ever did as Johnny Turbo.

Is Spectre Coming To PS5 And PS4?

Is Spectre Coming To PS5 And PS4? – Stealth fans are desperate for any new IP dedicated to the stealth genre, since those types of games can be few and far between, but a new game called Spectre is directly inspired by Splinter Cell with a release on PC and Xbox Series X coming soon according to the developer, but will it come to PS5 and PS4 as well?

Is Spectre Coming To PS5 And PS4?

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there are plans for a PS5 and PS4 launch or any indication that there will be one in the future, as for now the developers have only talked about releasing the game on PC and Xbox Series X/S.

That's not entirely bad though, since this is being developed by a small studio from Toronto, Canada, it is possible that they're hoping to bring the game to PlayStation, especially since it is a multiplayer game, it makes more sense to have it on as many platforms.

Spectre – What Is It?

Spectre is a new stealth multiplayer game inspired by classic 'spies vs. mechs' gameplay found in what they call "Splinter Cell's mid-2000's glory days". It's clear the developers are major stealth fans, and since they don't see other people making a game like this, they decided to take it on themselves.

There definitely is a gap within online multiplayer games for a stealth game like this, hopefully Spectre will be able to fill it. Although developer Symbiosis Games would love to be able to offer single player content if the game begins to garner an audience and is successful.

Check Out Each Of The Battlefield 2042 Specialists In New Gameplay Trailer

Battlefield 2042 is doing some things a little differently this year in comparison to previous Battlefield games, one of those being the inclusion of Specialists, each with their own unique abilities and traits, and we just got a new trailer breaking down each of the starting five and showing off some of their gameplay and skills in action.

It's important to note that unlike previous Battlefield games where your class determined the weapons available to you, your loadout is whatever you want it to be no matter what Specialist you are playing as, so you can mix and match your weapons to suit each Specialist to your liking.

The Director Of The Tomorrow Children Is Trying To Secure The IP From Sony

The Tomorrow Children was definitely ahead of its time, though when it first launched on PS4 it only lasted for a year before being taken offline – fast forward to 2021 and we've been hearing rumours about a revival and now confirmation that the former director of the game wants the IP back from Sony to give the game new life.

The news comes from an interview with IGN Japan where the Dylan Cuthbert talks about what led to the games demise in the first place, that being server costs, and also that he would very much like to bring it back, and potentially try to find a way to make the game work without having servers to pay for.

"Unfortunately, right now the IP is Sony's, really. So I'll keep trying to get the IP back, and if I do get the IP back, then I'll definitely think about ways to kind of relaunch it but without a server, I think. Because it was running costs of the server that brought it down, if it didn't have that we probably just could have left it running and people could have kept playing it, right?"

So not all hope is lost at all for those of you still fond of The Tomorrow Children and hopeful for a future where you can play it again. Although Cuthbert does point out that while the IP is in Sony's hands, it's up to them what happens with it.

Destiny 2 Xur Location this week

Nessus – From the directory head on over to the Vex-filled planet of Nessus. From here select the spawn point closest to Watcher's Grave up in the northeast corner of the map. Once you spawn and head straight ahead toward the Chamber of Water. You can use your sparrow if you would like but the ride will be short. As you head forward you will see a path emerging heading to the right of the map slightly. There will be a large red tree growing out of the wall on the right with its branches stretching over the path. This tree is the tree you need. Just past the tree, you will notice a ledge connected to the wall the tree is growing out from. Jump on the ledge and you should be facing the direction you just came. Straight ahead in the tree, you will see Xûr waiting for you in front of a shiny gold dead Vex. His will is not his own, and neither are the Exotics he brings.

Fated Engrams and Five of Swords

Fated Engram

The Fated Engrams are exotic engrams that award you exotics that Xûr has the ability to sell. However, you haven't acquired it yet.

The best strategy for these is to buy any exotics you have not yet acquired from Xûr if he is selling them. This is to eliminate the chance of the Fated Engram giving you something that you could have just purchased.

Once you have all the Exotics that Xûr can sell then these engrams are no longer worth the purchase.

Fated Engrams will now also have a chance to be Forsaken Exotics.

Five of Swords

Five of Swords are used for Nightfalls. You only need to purchase them once unless you accidentally dismantle it.

Five of Swords allows you to set modifiers to the Nightfall to make it easier with a lower Nightfall score or to make it harder with a multiplier to the Nightfall score. There are many different combinations and the modifiers can be changed endlessly.
