Xbox may be working on a cloud-based MMO to

Microsoft/Xbox is reportedly working with Finnish studio Mainframe on its ambitious "cloud-native" MMO, codenamed Pax Dei, according to several sources. Furthermore, Microsoft is apparently hoping to use the experience working on Pax Dei to support the next game from Hideo Kojima after Death Stranding.

Scandinavian developer Mainframe announced back in 2019 that it was working on a cloud-based MMO that mixes "the best of triple-A, MMO, and mobile gaming into a social sandbox" which it aims to be "playable on any screen" - so players can easily flip between phone, PC, console, etc. and just keep playing, along with mechanics scaled in complexity to the device you're using. Mainframe's last website update was in March 2020, when it confirmed League of Legends studio Riot Games was a backer on the project.

Apparently reporter Jez Corden, as revealed on the Xbox Two podcast, has "heard" that Microsoft is directly working with Mainframe on this cloud MMO project. This was corroborated by Jeff Grubb at GamesBeat, who adds that the project is codenamed "Pax Dei".

Red Dead Redemption 2 modder adds a Fallout-like companion system

Do you ever get lonely on the ol' Frontier? As always, there's a mod for that. A Red Dead Redemption 2 modder has added a companion system that allows you to recruit one of the Van Der Linde gang members as a companion.

Bolmin's Companion System mod currently features Javier, John, Bill, Hosea, Kieran, Sean, Charles, Lenny, or Micah - Sadie will join the bunch soon. Once the mod is up and running, it's reasonably simple to corral a pal - walk up to one of them and press the recruit prompt. Bolmin explains that you'll then be presented with an assortment of new options once the selected gang member is targeted, like a command option that brings "a prompt-based menu for you to change" with some "basic Fallout-style settings".

Once you're buddied up, the companion will aid you in combat, ride with you on a horse, and take a load off when camp is set up. One of our favourite features, though, involves taking the time to chat with a chosen companion.

Cooler Master MM731 review – ultralight wireless gaming

59g is light. Really, really light. And in a wireless package, it feels about as close to weightless as you're going to get with a gaming mouse before splashing out on something like Finalmouse's Starlight 12. At an RRP of just £89.99, Cooler Master's MM731 is less than half the price of the Starlight 12, and £40 cheaper than its closest wireless competitor, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight - it all sounds pretty favourable on paper, but there's a lot more that goes into the best wireless gaming mouse.

We'll start with the weight, as 59g puts the MM731 among the lightest wireless gaming mice on the market. In terms of mainstream competitors, there's the aforementioned G Pro X Superlight coming in at 60g, the 68g SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless, and the Razer Viper Ultimate, which tops the scales at 74g.

So yeah, this is light, but the shell is also pretty rigid and robust. Any creaks I experienced in the first couple of days quickly disappeared, the shell doesn't bend under pressure, and nothing feels loose after a few weeks of testing. It's not exactly premium, but it's a strong chassis.

The best Genshin Impact Yanfei build

After the best Genshin Impact Yanfei build? This four-star Pyro Catalyst wielder arrived during the Genshin Impact 1.5 update as part of the Zhongli banner. Although she's squishy, paired with the right party and the best DPS build, you can maximise her Pyro damage and ensure she stays alive.

Yanfei is the top legal expert in Liyue Harbor, fully versed in every area of the law, also known as the "law that walks". She also shares a mysterious connection to another  Genshin Impact character, Eula. She's part illuminated beast, similar to Ganyu, and generates scarlet seals, which decrease her stamina consumption, when using normal attacks or her elemental skill and elemental burst. You can check out her full abilities below.

The scarlet seals can be used to increase her charged attack's area of effect and damage output, so although there's nothing particularly outstanding about Yanfei's stats, positioning her as DPS, alongside shield characters such as Diona and Zhongli, will help you get the most out of her. First, let's take a look at the best Genshin Impact Yanfei build.

Football Manager 2022 is available now in early access, but not on Game Pass

Despite not officially releasing for another two weeks, Football Manager 2022 is now available to play in early access for anyone who's pre-ordered SEGA and Sports Interactive's latest version of their ultimate footy sim - which are some of the best management games on PC. However, there's bad news for Game Pass owners, since they won't be able to play the beta.

Football Manager 2022 is this year's version of Sports Interactive's annual, well, football management series obviously, which the developer calls its "most sophisticated, true-to-life title yet" - boasting a brand new match system with improved AI, a greater range of player movement, and a more dramatic deadline day experience.

It's currently due for release on November 9, but anyone who has pre-ordered Football Manager 2022 - or does so now - can play the game's early access beta right now, since it's just gone live. While Sports Interactive confirms that this is an early beta and not the full game release, all save data should carry over to the final game if previous years are any indication.

Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris gets a dedicated solo playlist this weekend

Bungie is testing out a new playlist for solo players in Destiny 2's Trials of Osiris mode this weekend. While you've previously been able to enter the PvP tournament solo, this temporary mode will bar anyone from entering as a pre-made fireteam.

In a This Week at Bungie post, the developer explains that Freelance: Trials Labs will work much like the mode does in the competitive playlist. Everyone enters solo, and there are no pre-made fireteams. You've had the option to enter Trials of Osiris solo before, but there was always the risk of coming up against a full fireteam, which can be off putting for some. There's some extra incentive to test the mode, too, as Bungie is doubling Trials reputation. Don't worry if you don't fancy it, though, as the ordinary, group-focused version of Trials isn't going anywhere this time.

There's also a new set of seasonal challenges this week. One of which is Trial by Firing Squad, which tasks you with winning 20 rounds over the weekend to earn the Reed's Regret linear fusion rifle, experience points, and bright dust.

Genshin Impact codes October 2021 – how to redeem free primogems

Looking for Genshin Impact codes? MiHoYo's charming open-world game is notoriously addictive, and if you're anything like us, you're constantly on the lookout for more Genshin Impact primogems and other goodies.

Gathering currency in Genshin Impact can be quite the grind - while you can earn mora and primogems by completing quests such as daily commissions, an injection of extra funds will always be gratefully received. Fortunately, the developers occasionally send out free gifts in the form of codes that can be redeemed online.

These Genshin Impact codes are released periodically. They frequently appear in MiHoYo's special programs that reveal information about future updates coming to the game soon, but are also released to celebrate milestones or to coincide with promotional events. Most codes also only work for a limited time - so it's a good idea to redeem them as soon as possible in case you miss out. Codes can only be redeemed once per account. Here are all the current Genshin Impact codes for October 2021, and how to redeem them.

Genshin Impact Labyrinth Warriors guide – get a free Xinyan

The Labyrinth Warrior event brings some exciting new Domain challenges to Genshin Impact. After meeting rockstar Xinyan, Shogun-sidekick Kujou Sara, and a little paper Shikigami puppet, you'll find yourself in front of a shiny blue Domain portal with lots of treasure (and enemies) behind it.

The Labyrinth Warriors event starts on October 21, and ends on November 8. If you meet the entry requirements and you're fond of Domain challenges, it's wise not to skip this one. If you complete at least some of the trials, you'll walk away with a nice stack of primogems, an event-exclusive talent level-up material, and maybe even a new Pyro character.

Just spend the Aged Tokens rewards in the Event Shop as you please. Besides the special rewards mentioned above, you can also buy a lot of character ascension materials, talent level-up materials, weapon ascension materials, hero's wit, and mora. As the trials in this Genshin Impact event are pretty complex (think different rooms, charm magic tokens, and Shikifudas), here's a Labyrinth Warriors guide to help you out.

Roblox promo codes list October 2021 – how to redeem

Looking for Roblox promo codes? There are all sorts of promo codes from Roblox events and giveaways out there, that grant you free virtual goods like clothes and items. No need to fork out cash for accessories; new codes are added all the time, so you can keep your Roblox character looking fresh.

New World's long-awaited character transfers have been taken away almost as soon as they arrived, because they've caused a glitch that allows players to duplicate gold. The bug came about after the MMORPG's 1.0.3 update this week. It makes it so characters don't save properly after transferring, letting them trade gold and items to others while magically keeping it in their own pockets. Amazon have paused server transfers for the time being to work on a fix, and have warned players that those caught exploiting the glitch will be banned.

"It's all in your head." It's a response that encapsulates all the condescension and ignorance surrounding mental health issues. And yet, in a way, it's true. Subjective experience is an objective reality – that just so happens to be located and locked away in your head.

These individual realities can only be conveyed through language and other subjective means of communication, and more and more games are grasping this fact, turning inward to explore and map the inland empires of the mind. They have all the tools of the medium at their disposal to turn the invisible workings of the mind into landscapes of audio-visual and mechanical metaphors that can be explored and interacted with. At their best, they convey the dynamic and complex mechanisms of the psyche in a way that only this medium can.
