Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice PC patch adds AMD FSR, Nvidia DLSS, and ray tracing

After releasing an Optimised for Series X|S patch for Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice earlier this year, developer Ninja Theory has finally released a patch for the PC version that brings substantial accessibility and graphical enhancements to the game. The patch is live right now and comes at no extra cost to current or future players.

The most transformative change to the game's visuals comes in the form of ray tracing, which is used to render more accurate reflections and shadows. Ninja Theory has also taken the opportunity to update the game's materials, particles, and LOD (level of detail) so there's plenty for everyone regardless of their GPU's ray tracing capabilities.

To help boost fps, the game now supports both Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR upscaling techniques. Given how taxing ray tracing can be, even on the best graphics cards, these techniques should help keep Hellblade running at high frame rates without skimping on visual fidelity.

Europa Universalis 4 is getting more DLC and

Grand strategy game Europa Universalis IV has just received its latest expansion, the Origins 'Immersion' pack, but the development team at Paradox Tinto is already looking ahead towards what it will be working on next.

Studio manager Johan Andersson - who also founded and helped design many of Paradox's iconic strategy games - shared the team's plan in this week's dev diary. "We aim to release another larger 'hotfix' for any issues remaining," he says, "[and] this should be out in good time before the Grandest Lan in December." A larger patch with further improvements is also due early next year, and then the team will start working on the next piece of EU4 DLC.

Andersson also mentions that the team is tackling legacy bugs that have stacked up since the game's release back in 2013.
"We have had a focus on fixing old bugs for EU4," he says, "and have managed to reduce our bug count in an unprecedented way for a GSG in the last 14 months. We want to continue this, and make sure that when we finally end development on EU4, [it] should not have a large horde of bugs still around, like some previous games sadly have."

The best Kerbal Space Program mods

KSP mods are essential for enjoying Kerbal Space Program. It's is a game about going to space, you might even call it a space game, where you plan, design, and fly the bold explorers of Planet Kerbin up towards the final (and only) frontier. While the base game is in a great state after the final 1.12 update, the Kerbal Space Program mod scene represents some of the most creative community creations around, and help make everything that much better.

In KSP (and upcoming sequel Kerbal Space Program 2), you must assemble all of the craft and machines, plan out the missions, and you even do the piloting while pushing ever further into the unknown. Realistic physics, particularly when it comes to issues of literal rocket science and transfer orbits, thrust/weight ratios, are going to become your close and hated friends.

There are a range of needs when it comes to modding Kerbal Space Program. Some of you may just want more parts to build your rockets. Some of you may not actually like being a literal rocket scientist and need some utility mods to make the experience easier. There's a mod for every need, and we've tried to pull together a collection of top mods that suite a range of these requests.

New Dota 2 update gives Monkey King even more mischief

Dota 2 hero Monkey King has plenty of neat tricks up his sleeves, the most entertaining of which is Mischief - the ability to transform into other items and surroundings to deceive his foes. The MOBA game's latest patch looks to extend and enhance this cheeky ability, which means you could see Monkey King turning into even more random things the next time you play.

As Valve has posted in this week's patch notes on Steam, Monkey King can now turn into nearby lane or neutral creeps. Essentially this means he has even more options for mischievous plays, with more different kinds of objects to turn into to slip by or surprise opponents, beyond the ability's existing offerings, like items, trees, and runes. With lane creeps being a common unit and pretty lucrative in terms of gold and experience, it's easy to see how Monkey King can use this added option to his advantage.

Alongside this change, Valve has introduced a health bar for when he's getting up to some of his Mischief - that is, for when the hero turns into a courier, Roshan, or creeps. Additionally, the notes explain that, as of the update, "drafting Wukong's Command grants Mischief (only Monkey King can turn into trees.)".

Galactic Civilizations IV's Xeloxi are here to prove that crime does pay

The recent 0.60 alpha update for upcoming 4X game Galactic Civilizations IV brought a wealth of new features, including two new factions that strategy game fans who pre-order can take for a spin right now. We'll revisit the greedy business moguls of the Corporate Sector another time, but for today's deep dive we'll be looking closer at the galaxy's most-wanted criminals: the Xeloxi.

You must have to work really hard as a society to get to the point when your entire racial identity revolves around dubious morals and criminal activity, but by gosh the Xeloxi have that brand nailed. Xeloxi citizens - just by existing - generate crime wherever they go. This is generally a problem for other empires, and while high crime is still an issue for the Xeloxi themselves (criminals gonna crime, even against their own people), this faction also has plenty of unique benefits that allow them to thrive not just despite high crime rates, but because of them.

For example, there are several planetary improvements that are only available to the Xeloxi when crime is high: the Smuggler Port, Pleasure Dome, and Mercenary Camp, the last of which increases a world's resistance. Not content with revelling in their own immorality, one of the Xeloxi's other special moves is a policy called 'Look the Other Way', which spreads crime through trade routes.

Qualcomm looks to beat Intel, AMD, and Nvidia with its own ARM gaming CPUs

When you think about the manufacturers behind the best gaming CPUs on the market, you'll picture AMD or Intel before Qualcomm even crosses your mind. However, with computers slowly but surely transitioning away from the 43-year-old x86 instruction set to an ARM-based one, it might not be long before our gaming PCs use Qualcomm processors.

During the company's Investor Day 2021 presentation (which you can watch here), CEO Cristiano Amon said that Qualcomm is "very well positioned to be the preferred platform for PCs, in the inevitable transition to ARM." Qualcomm isn't alone in viewing ARM as the future, with Microsoft's chief product officer, Panos Panay, describing ARM-based PCs as "an amazing opportunity." Meanwhile, Apple has already made the transition from x86 with its own shockingly powerful M1 chips, and Nvidia continues to pursue its purchase of Arm Ltd., an ARM processor design company in the UK.

Despite keeping performance metrics close to its chest, Qualcomm claims that its upcoming Snapdragon CPU that'll appear in next-generation laptops will be "designed to lead in performance and power efficiency", featuring an Adreno GPU with "discrete-like graphics performance."

Celebrate Black Friday with 20% off Razer's Naga Trinity gaming mouse on Amazon

A great mouse makes all the difference when it comes to the realm of PC gaming, but finding a reliable rodent at the right price isn't always easy. Thankfully, this year's Black Friday festivities have already kicked off, and the internet is bursting at the seams with gaming PC deals. So, if you're in the market for a new clickable companion, you'll be pleased to know that Razer's Naga Trinity gaming mouse has 20% off on Amazon right now.

Over on Amazon US, Razer's majestic MMO mouse is $20 off, bringing it down from $99.99 to $79.99. If you reside in the UK, an even better 50% discount means you can snatch the Naga Trinity for £49.98. Naturally, such a great saving means you could pair this clicker with one of the best gaming keyboards, like the BlackWidow V3 Pro.

The Naga Trinity's biggest flex is its hot-swappable plates, enabling support for either two, seven, or 12 side buttons. Each input on Razer's premium peripheral is also programmable, so performance in MMOs like New World and the best FPS games such as Halo Infinite should be optimal.

Halo Infinite – how to customise your Spartan armor

Want to know more about the character customisation options in Halo Infinite? Unlike the other entries in the Halo series, Halo Infinite's multiplayer mode is free to play on Xbox and PC. The devs have decided to take the same approach as some of the most popular battle royale games, focusing on cosmetics to bring in money rather than relying on game sales.

As a result, you can expect to find lots of character customisation options in Halo Infinite when the game officially launches later this year. The only way to acquire new items to customise your spartan armour with is through the Halo Infinite battle pass system. In most games, battle passes typically have an end date, but that won't be the case in Halo Infinite as they're permanent.

Customising your spartan armour has always been part of the Halo games, but these systems pale in comparison to what's offered in Halo Infinite. Everything from helmets, shoulder pads, and even knee pads can be altered and equipped this time around. Here's everything you need to know about the character customisation options in Halo Infinite, including what pieces of armour can be altered, what armour cores are, and more.

Everything we know about Gorou in Genshin impact

Want to know more about the Genshin Impact Gorou banner? The Genshin Impact 2.0 update introduced us to a wealth of new Genshin Impact characters hailing from Inazuma. Alongside Ayaka, Sayu, and Yoimiya, who were available on banners in 2.0, there are several other NPCs in Inazuma who we expect to become playable characters in the future.

Gorou is a member of the resistance movement that opposes the vision hunt, and has an easy going personality. In-game voice lines expand on Gorou's character further, with Kazuha, who was liberated by Gorou, saying that "he's the type of person who says whatever is on his mind. He shares the highs and lows of his subordinate and is never afraid to draw his sword for the sake of a friend".

He's also an anthropomorphic chap with fox ears and a tail, similar to Diona, but you may be wondering when Gorou's banner release date is and what star ranking he'll be. Read on to learn more about this Geo character coming to the game in Genshin Impact 2.3.

     The best MP7 Warzone setup

Looking for the best MP7 Warzone setup? The MP7 is widely regarded as the best SMG in Warzone, but you can improve it even further if you know the right attachments to strap onto it. Its base stats are not terribly impressive with a solid time-to-kill number, but by no means the best in class, and a lot of shots needed to actually secure that TTK, you'd be forgiven for thinking this is not one of the best Warzone guns.

However, when you factor in its best in class rate of fire, easy to read vertical recoil, and the sheer amount of attachments you can use to fine-tune the MP7 it becomes clear that this is an SMG you need to try.

Our MP7 Warzone build is designed to compliment the SMG's absurdly high rate of fire by doubling the magazine capacity, increasing its hip-fire accuracy, and buffing its effective range for when you need to take on mid-range targets. For the best Warzone loadout for the MP7, we recommend running an RPG-7 as your secondary weapon so you can clear out attics and tight spaces without having to expose yourself.

Upcoming PC games 2021 and beyond

What are the best upcoming games to keep an eye on this year and the next? Hope, anticipation, agony, and elation - it's the endless cycle of emotions we go through during the annual PC release schedule.

Year in, year out, games - via Steam and otherwise - are produced in such varying degrees of quality that not a single one of them is destined for certain success. Masterpieces are released alongside utter disasters, series are born while others dwindle and, occasionally, a game actually lives up to our expectations.

So how can we possibly navigate the dizzying number of announcements, trailers, and teases to find which of the upcoming PC games we should devote our finite supply of hype to? Us old PCGamesN sages have been round the videogame block plenty of times already, so we're perfectly placed to tell you about the titles you should be saving your pennies up for. Below you'll find the upcoming PC games you should keep on your radar, as well as their expected release dates.

The best Genshin Impact Hu Tao build

Looking for the best Genshin Impact Hu Tao build? Hu Tao is the featured five-star character in the latest Genshin Impact banner. She wields a polearm and is a Pyro based five-star character - the perfect combination for a deadly DPS dealer. You can discover part of her backstory by participating in the Papilio Charontis Chapter story quest.

Hu Tao is the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. She loves to cause trouble and is said to have a very 'punch-able face'. Hu Tao's elemental skill allows her to enter the Paramita Papillo state. In this state, all of her attacks become Pyro attacks and they receive a damage boost based on her max health.

Now that Hu Tao has been out for a while, it's safe to say she has some of the best single target damage in the entire game. Unsurprisingly, this has earned her a high spot on our Genshin Impact tier list. When paired alongside a DPS dealer that specialises in AoE attacks, you can easily create a devastating combo to take you through the hardest Abyssal Moon Spire levels.

How to make money at New World trading posts

Want to know the best way of making money in New World? In MMOs such as World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2, and Final Fantasy XIV, making vast sums of coin fast takes a bit of time and effort. While there is no way to create a massive pile of coins to swim in (like Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales), you can always buy a big ol' house and fill it with all sorts of fancy furniture.

New World houses are not the only thing you can buy with tons of cash. If you want the best New World weapons, you have to spend some coin on specific resources at any town's trading post - which are shops where players can sell their unwanted equipment and desirable resources to make a profit. There are a couple of ways to make a fortune in New World, and while they're both straightforward to execute, you also need to spend some time doing some rather mundane tasks.

Another way to obtain coins is from quests, so if you get bored of the more repetitive methods outlined below, you can always opt to finish tasks given to you by the townsfolk in each of the towns.

Best Black Friday gaming keyboard deals

'Black Friday' is one of those phrases that sends shivers down your spine - in a good way - thinking of all the savings you can take advantage of. Gaming headsets, mice, monitors, SSDs, and more are usually reduced to the lowest prices we see all year, but you need not wait any longer for the sales extravaganza to take advantage of the best gaming keyboard deals in the interim - Black Friday now spans the whole month of November.

Why exactly should you get a gaming keyboard over the standard beige rectangle dossed around the workplace? Those everyday keyboards can only handle an average of two inputs at once, which can be problematic when you want to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge out of your enemy's way, throw a grenade, and swap weapons in quick succession.

The benefits don't end there either, as gaming keyboards often come with faster response times, comfortable wrist rests, macro keys, media buttons, RGB lighting, a choice of different kinds of switches, and plenty more goodies, too.

Saints Row has been pushed back to August 2022

The Saints Row release date has been pushed back by around six months, developer Volition has announced. The studio's chief creative officer Jim Boone has posted a message announcing that the upcoming reboot - the next instalment in the long-running action-adventure games series - has been delayed from its February 2022 launch date to August 2022.

The Saints Row reboot was initially due to arrive on February 25 next year, but the delay means it'll now drop on August 23 instead. "Our priority is to create the best Saints Row game yet and, if we released on the original date, it wouldn't be up to the standards we've set ourselves, and that you're expecting and deserve," Boone explains in the message posted to the game's site. "The team just need more time to do our vision justice; we're doing some fine tuning and there won't be much change in the game outside of overall quality and polish."

Boone goes on to explain that the studio "underestimated the impact" that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic would have on the team's schedule, though notes that they adapted to the working-from-home arrangement very quickly, and "continued to be incredibly productive". The studio says it's become apparent that the devs just need some more time with the new Saints Row to make it the best it can be due to the "size and scope" of the game.

Fortnite leakers are convinced that Chapter 3 is next

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 is set to come to a close on December 5, which is now just a few weeks away. The question on every fan's mind, however, has been whether Season 9 or Chapter 3 would be coming next. Early leaks and datamines have suggested that Chapter 3 is coming up soon, and a fresh round of discoveries have landed alongside the v18.40 update.

Most telling among those discoveries is a new loading screen, uncovered by Fortnite Intel and YLSDev on Twitter. The image is labeled: 'The Chapter 2 finale. Locked, loaded, and ready for the final showdown!' It features a group walking toward a sort of hollow pyramid shape in the middle of a desert.

That, in turn, matches up with a separate leaked image (courtesy of ImPeQu and Zatheo) of the final stage of this season's map, which has a similar structure in its center. And if all that wasn't enough, dataminer InTheShade has also discovered an event playlist called 'The End' - just like the event that concluded Chapter 1.

Developers 343 Industries surprise-launched Halo Infinite's multiplayer this week on Xbox's 20th birthday, and so far it seems that folks are finding it fairly fun to play. But a lot of players have one major grievance: the battle pass is a massive grind. Complaints about challenges that award very little XP are all over the game's subreddit. Fortunately, the devs have seen this feedback, and are already looking into the slow progression.

There's something about Call Of Duty: Vanguard and its multiplayer modes that feels thin. Much like my time with the game's campaign, I'm left wanting. This is a World War II veneer glossed over a Modern Warfare canvas, with familiar pacing and shooting, but ultimately lacking the weight of Infinity Ward's reboot.

As a Call Of Duty multiplayer experience, Vanguard delivers. But what it delivers is a stop-gap. An FPS experience that isn't concerned with pushing the series forwards, or taking risks. Fans will have fun, sure, but its deathmatches and dominations are stuck in the past. Not to mention Zombies, which is too eager to turn back the clock.

New World, Amazon Games' opening move into game dev, was not always an MMORPG. It used to be a survival horror game. According to Katy Kaszynski, senior producer at Amazon Games, the team got really far down that road. "They created it. That was before my time, but that game was almost done," Kaszynski tells me, just after delivering a presentation on New World's development at this year's Develop Conference in Brighton. "They really thought it was going to go alpha, launch, and they were going to ship that out."

A survival horror is pretty different from the jaunty, vaguely piratical, magical fantasy RPG that New World is today: lush forests, sunny grassy plains, and factions engaged in an endless war for territory. So what happened? According to Kaszynski, it's all down to Amazon's first 'Leadership Principle': Customer Obsession.
