Gotham Knights devs' next game has been in the works since at least 2019

The unannounced next game from Warner Bros Games Montreal, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins and the upcoming Gotham Knights, has apparently been in development since at least 2019 - or possibly longer. It will almost certainly be another DC Comics game and is rumoured to be a Superman title.

While WB Games Montreal hasn't released a title since Batman: Arkham Knight's Batgirl DLC in 2015, it's had several titles reportedly cancelled such as a Batman Arkham Knight sequel and is now full in development for Gotham Knights for next year - however, the studio apparently does have other projects in production.

As spotted by James Sigfield on Twitter, the LinkedIn page for senior artist Megan Berry reveals that - in addition to working on Gotham Knights - she is the art director and co-founder of an unannounced project that's been in the works since at least 2019. It apparently even has a demo, which was presumably used to show off the game to Warner Bros Games.

What if: God of War had an Assassin's Creed-style Discovery Tour?

It's been an exciting time for fans of gaming's angry dads. God of War, once a staple of Sony's first-party exclusives, was recently confirmed to debut on PC in January with its excellent 2018 reboot. Sony's showcase in September also showed some of the upcoming sequel, God of War: Ragnarok, and coincided with a tweet from art director Raf Grassetti showing its take on the Norse god Thor.

That character art is badass, but sadly, there were some who didn't know it. At risk of oversimplifying - a risk I'm willing to take because the outcry wasn't particularly sophisticated - many seemed to take issue with Thor being, essentially, fat. This is not only mean-spirited but incorrect. In the mythology, Thor is the most physically strong of all the gods and loves his ale so much that, in a drinking contest rigged by those cheating Frost Giants, he drank enough of the literal ocean to create the tides. In another tale from the Poetic Edda, while disguised as the goddess Freyja at a wedding reception, he eats entire animals and drinks whole barrels of mead. I guarantee you that Chris Hemsworth's diet for the MCU is nothing like that.

The 'authentic' Thor is basically the legendary prop forward from your local rugby club who once put away twenty pints and headbutted a goat into a coma crossed with champion strongmen like his Icelandic namesake Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson. Image-search 'world's strongest man' and you'll find many physiques that'll remind you of the character art below.

Fans have recreated Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory's cut single-player campaign

A modder has taken aim at recreating the long-lost Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory single-player campaign as part of the game's 20th-anniversary celebration. The campaign expansion, which was supposed to come out in 2003, has been fully reimagined - and is now available on Steam.

Enemy Territory was originally meant to be a full paid expansion to 2001's Return To Castle Wolfenstein reboot, but the single-player side reportedly ran into development problems and was removed. The multiplayer - by Gears Tactics developer Splash Damage - was released in 2003 for free, where it proved incredibly popular.

While nothing official of the single-player side has been released, modder William Faure has recreated the campaign based on Return To Castle Wolfenstein and Enemy Territory's multiplayer maps - complete with voice acting - which can be installed along with the RealRTCW overhaul mod that released on Steam in October. Simply download Return To Castle Wolfenstein and the RealRTCW mod on Steam, then subscribe to the single-player add-on on Steam Workshop. You can now head into RealRTCW and launch the new campaign via the Add-Ons menu.

The FFXIV Eorzea Academy manga will be out by Christmas

The Final Fantasy XIV manga was revealed in the most recent live Letter to the Producer stream, which will be called either Academia Eorzea or the simpler Eorzea Academy in English and Shiritsu Eorzea Gakuen in Japan. Now we got our first look at the comic, including a surprise name for the Academy's Principal.

The spin-off manga series for Final Fantasy XIV has currently only been revealed for a Japanese release as part of Square Enix's Manga Up! platform and will seemingly be a prequel to the events of the MMO. In Japan at least the first issue will debut on the service on December 24 and will be updated weekly every Friday from that point on.

While we still don't know about the release in other countries, at the least today fans got a look at the first teaser art by Amaichi Esora and a brief synopsis of what the series will be about. The art shows popular characters Alisaie, Alphinaud, G'raha Tia, and Estinien as students in a classroom, with Y'shtola standing by in the background as their teacher.

Fortnite x The Matrix collab may be coming next month

According to rumour, a planned Fortnite x The Matrix crossover is in the works for late next month - presumably to tie in with the release of the next movie, The Matrix Resurrections. Reportedly this collaboration will include skins based on Keanu Reeves' Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss' Trinity, making their first appearance in any game since 2005's The Matrix Online.

Fortnite certainly hasn't been lacking for major crossovers this year. The big long-rumoured Naruto collab has finally hit and is running right now, with League of Legends' Jinx also appearing in the game - as part of a tie-in with the Arcane Netflix show - and the Ghostbusters crossover being back right now thanks to Ghostbusters Afterlife being out.

Even the bearded Keanu Reeves has appeared in Fortnite before, with the big John Wick event that ran back in 2019. Now it seems like, if a new report is correct, Keanu Reeves' other iconic character is coming to Epic's battle royale - and no, we don't mean Ted Theodore Logan.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 may not be happening

It's entirely possible that Star Wars Battlefront 3, the sequel to one of the best Star Wars games around, might not be happening after all. With the release of Battlefield 2042 many Star Wars fans expected EA to go ahead with DICE making a new Battlefront, but reportedly executives "shot down" that idea.

Star Wars Battlefront II was released in 2017, just two years after DICE's first Battlefront game - to, shall we say, a little controversy that changed how the world sees loot boxes in games forever. After a couple of years of free updates, Battlefront II became a solid Star Wars multiplayer game that everyone wanted to play once it was free.

Many fans perhaps assumed that EA and DICE were working on Battlefront 3 but that may not be the case. Last year, EA said that the game that would become Battlefield 2042 was the focus for DICE over Star Wars, and Battlefront 2 creative director Dennis Brännvall previously told us there wasn't "the same hunger" for a sequel.
