AMD Ryzen CPUs with 3D V-Cache could power up gaming PCs in early 2022

Intel has finally made the processor market competitive again with its Alder Lake CPUs, but it appears AMD has a trick up its sleeve that could help the company maintain the lead that it's built up over the past several years. According to reliable hardware leaker Greymon55, we could see Ryzen CPUs equipped with team red's new '3D V-Cache' technology on store shelves by February 2022.

AMD announced that it would begin production of its "highest-end products with 3D chiplets by the end of this year", during its Computex keynote in June, but the company is yet to announce an official release date. Greymon55 claims that team red is already in the midst of mass producing chips and that it "usually takes at least 3 months to get to market, so I'm leaning toward it being announced in January and available in February."

This technology will prove useful in improving performance across a variety of applications, including gaming. AMD says a prototype Ryzen 9 5900X using 3D V-Cache technology can boost fps by 15% on average, versus the company's current best gaming CPU, thanks to triple the amount of L3 cache.

How Arcane gets videogame adaptation right

Expectations were high for Riot's first animated series after its trailer premiered over two years ago, but not even the most diehard League of Legends fans could have predicted its meteoric success. Arcane currently boasts a 100% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a 98% viewer score, and it's among the most-watched shows on Netflix, even dethroning Squid Game in China.

It's a hit with universal appeal that has received plaudits from critics and audiences alike, and most importantly, from people who don't play League of Legends. For any videogame franchise, this is the Holy Grail of expanded universe content - it's peerless.

The question is, what does Arcane have that other videogame adaptations lack? Obviously, obviously, Arcane is jaw-droppingly pretty. Studio Fortiche, the animation team behind Arcane, has blended a heady mix of expressive and fluid 3D animation with painterly textures, hand-drawn 2D effects, and head-spinning attention to detail. Nothing else out there, save for Fortiche's previous work, looks like Arcane. It's a complete paradigm shift for 3D animation in television.

Minecraft Lush Caves – everything we know

Digging underground in Minecraft can be a terrifying proposition for newer players. After all, there are all sorts of scary things that can appear within the dark depths. We're pretty sure you never forgot the first time an Enderman ambushed you as you were mining for precious diamonds.

Eventually, these caves and the underground areas just became samey. There's only so much time you can spend mining for gemstones before the call of the diverse surface biomes tempts you away from the resources below.

In the Minecraft 1.18 update, which is part two of the full Caves & Cliffs update, several new biomes will be introduced to the underground areas and perhaps the most intriguing one revealed so far has been the Lush Caves. Some of the blocks and mobs are already available as of the Minecraft 1.17 update. This rather bright biome is a welcome respite from the relentless monsters and vicious spiders that infest the rest of the underground areas. In addition to being a place to relax, it's also home to perhaps the cutest mob introduced to Minecraft in quite some time.

This CS:GO fan map changes Dust II from desert into an abandoned

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fans know Dust II well. Succeeding the original Dust map, it's one of the FPS game's most popular battlegrounds - and it's an iconic one, too, with its distinctive Middle Eastern town-style streets and aesthetic. Now, though, you can play the same map with a whole other vibe, as a modder's transformed its desert setting into a "green oasis".

CS:GO modder BARS's new 'Dust II 2055' overhaul mod is the latest in their '2055' series, which gives existing maps an "abandoned style" by imagining a future state in which weather events have changed, people have left the sites behind, and nature has started reclaiming the buildings and streets. "Dust 2 has turned from a desert into a green oasis," the modder says in the reimagined Dust II 2055's description. "Acid rain and changing weather conditions have completely changed the map" - and it has indeed been totally transformed.

Dust II's previously sun-baked streets have become overrun with moss and grass, there are trees with trails of vines hanging from their branches scattered about, and the whole ecosystem's far from sunny. Even the underground and covered areas have fallen to nature, with huge tree roots breaking through the walls and gates.

If you're just getting started with PC gaming and aren't sure how to build a gaming PC, then prebuilt machines are a great place to start, with a large variety of available options sure to cater to your budget. Even veteran PC builders can benefit from a ready-made PC's convenience, as you don't have to search through compatibility lists or twiddle your thumbs for multiple component deliveries.      Everything you need to know about Minecraft frogs

Looking for more info on Minecraft frogs? Mojang announced the arrival of these cute little critters at Minecraft Live 2021, alongside more information about the next big Minecraft update, called The Wild update. The Wild update will be update 1.19, and follows the second part of the Caves and Cliffs update, otherwise known as the Minecraft 1.18 update.

The Wild introduces a new biome to the open world game, called the mangrove swamp. In the mangrove swamp, mangrove trees grow from propagules you can plant both in water or on land. You can chop down mangrove trees for a new type of wood, and they are a particularly distinctive shape - their roots branch out in arches into their surroundings.

Another upcoming feature in The Wild update is the addition of tiny little fireflies that hover around swamp biomes, shimmering in the dark - and occasionally becoming tasty snacks for the frogs that hop around nearby. Here's everything we know about Minecraft frogs, including information on all the frog variants and where to find frogs in Minecraft.

     Best Cyber Monday SSD deals

You've come home from a long day and want to kick back with your favourite videogame, only to find out there's an update so big it can no longer fit on your device - yes, we're looking at you, Call of Duty. It sounds like you might need a new SSD, which doesn't have to cost as much as you think.

Games are constantly getting bigger, whether you're paying attention to the intricate graphical details or getting lost in their sprawling worlds as Rockstar, Bethesda, and Ubisoft all compete for the largest map possible. Even Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War barely fits on a 250GB drive with all game modes taking up a hefty 175GB.

Your first thought might be to buy a new hard drive, and you wouldn't be wrong in thinking they offer more capacity for a significantly lower price. But unless you want to spend more time hanging around on a loading screen than playing the game, you're better off with a good SSD to speed things up. There are even plenty of deals from WD, Samsung, and Crucial that rival what we'll see on Cyber Monday if you don't want to wait around.

Here's our first peek at how Rust's server transitions could work

Earlier this month, esteemed Rust YouTuber Shadowfrax posted a video looking into an upcoming feature Facepunch has been testing for its flagship survival game: server transitions. The idea behind this, as the 'frax explained at the time, is that players will be able to "move between servers with an as-yet-to-be-confirmed quantity of gear and items" by hopping into a seaworthy craft and venturing out to maps' edges. Now, we've got our first peep at what this might look like in action.

"I'm excited to show you some actual server transitioning - yes, me boldly going between servers," Shadowfrax says in his latest clip covering Rust's work-in-progress features (below). The YouTuber got to test the feature "on a limited scale" as it functions right now, with two servers linked up in his dummy-run example. You can see the other from your current server as depicted by a rough outline of an island in the distance, across the sea. If you hop in a boat and zoom towards the island you'll soon get a pop-up message as you near the map's edges, which tells you how much further you need to travel before you'll hit the other server.

If you keep on barrelling in that direction, you'll then connect to the other server. So, it sounds like it'll be easy-peasy to use. "It appears that right now there's no restriction on what you can take with you in your inventory," Shadowfrax also says, though only boats let you server-hop in at the moment.

Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti GPU could include fastest Micron GDDR6X Memory

Nvidia's flagship Geforce graphics card is something of a monster, but the rumour mill tells tales of an even more powerful RTX 3090 Ti with more CUDA cores and glutenous power requirements. Yet, it looks like this GPU could boast more than just performance brawn, as the new card could also feature Micron's fastest GDDR6X memory.

According to Uniko's Hardware, the RTX 3090 Ti will come with Micron's MT61K512M32KPA-21U memory on board, a configuration that features 21Gbps bandwidth. The GPU will also be the first to use 2GB GDDR6X modules, reducing the original RTX 3090's number of chips by half.

Simplifying the original Nvidia card's memory configuration naturally comes with benefits, as it negates the need for an actively cooled backplate. That said, the RTX 3090 Ti's new power connector and rumoured 450W TDP could make additional cooling solutions a must, especially since it's consuming even more power than the green team's current frontrunner.

Call of Duty: Vanguard player gets 105 eliminations using Donkey Kong bongos

You may fancy yourself decent at Call of Duty: Vanguard, but are you good enough to snag over 100 eliminations using Donkey Bongos Bongos? Yeah, us neither. One person is, though, having achieved the feat during a recent stream.

Twitch streamer DeanoBeano is no stranger to the Call of Duty community. He can typically be seen playing the war game using different instruments as controllers - previously, he's used a drum kit and a recorder. In his latest stream, though, he managed to muster 105 eliminations in one game, which is his total kills and assists. He also got six captures, if you're curious.

The streamer accomplished the feat on the Das Haus map while playing the Blitz Pacing variation of Domination. Blitz modes typically feature heaps of players on small maps, so games are generally chaotic, and gunfights are never too far away from where you spawn in. Deano mainly spent the match running around with a bog-standard combat shotgun, though he does get the Attack Dogs killstreak, which certainly helps.

Minecraft Dripstone Cave – everything we know

The Caves & Cliffs update for Minecraft showed us a lot of exciting new features, but the showcase didn't delve very deep on all of the upcoming changes. We saw a lot about the Lush Caves biome, but it's not the only underground biome that's coming to the Minecraft 1.18 update as the Dripstone Caves were also shown off briefly. The Dripstone Caves were originally planned for the 1.17 update, but they were pulled right before launch.

Unlike the Lush Caves, the Dripstone Caves are the closest to vanilla Minecraft's underground areas. If anything, they seem a fair bit like the massive and open cave areas that are already in the game, just with a whole bunch of extra cave stuff - that's an official term, cave stuff.

Still, bog-standard caves are now their own proper biome, and while Mojang kept quiet on a lot of their features during Minecon 2020, there are still things to talk about. But before we go too far into this, let's give the customary disclaimer about the difference is between stalactites and stalagmites. Stalactites are the rock spikes that form on the ceiling, while stalagmites are the spikes that form from the ground. A useful way to remember it would be to look at the spelling: Stalactites = ceiling, Stalagmites = ground. Honestly, what would you do without us?

Players have been posting clips on social media of supposed cheaters using wallhacks, aimbots and more. Now Xbox Halo players are asking developers 343 Industries for an option to turn crossplay off, so they don't have to deal with pesky PC hackers.

Thankfully, Cyber Monday is here with a deal that knocks a few quid off what was already an affordable chiller, making it even better for first-time builders and anyone looking to upgrade from stock coolers on a limited budget.
