The best Call of Duty Vanguard 3-Line Rifle loadout

Looking for the best 3-Line Rifle loadout in Call of Duty Vanguard? With a solid effective damage range and high one-shot kill potential, the 3-Line Rifle is already a powerful option for those wishing for a more long distance gameplay style.

So what are we looking to upgrade with the 3-Line Rifle? The primary focus for all sniper rifles is accuracy, as you don't want it to wildly sway as you line up a shot from a distance. Recoil control is essential, of course, but the centring speed and idle sway control are critical for lining up shots on distant foes. That said, the stats of the 3-Line Rifle give a bit of wiggle room to reduce the reload and aim down sights times and boost the firing rate a tad.

This 3-Line loadout guide will go over our picks for the best attachments for the sniper rifle. However, if you find that the 3-Line Rifle still isn't the sniper rifle for you, we also have the best Vanguard Kar98k loadout that complements its one-shot kill potential.

Windows 11 is gaining on Windows 10 as its popularity grows among Steam users

It's been just under two months since Microsoft officially released Windows 11, and it's quickly becoming more prevalent among gaming PCs. According to the Steam hardware survey for November 2021, the fledgling OS has now usurped the beloved Windows 7 as the second most popular operating system among Steam users.

Windows 11 had a fairly small adoption rate when it first appeared in last month's hardware survey, which is understandable for any new operating system. However, issues such as reduced CPU performance that were identified in the OS's preview builds likely made many users wary of jumping in to the next generation of Windows.

Regardless, it seems that the speed at which Microsoft has addressed these issues or the power of user curiosity/impatience (take your pick) has sent the share of rigs running Windows 11 soaring, to a whopping 8.28% (+6.46%). It's still a fair ways off its predecessor's enormous 83.38% (-6.05%), but should the rate of decline in Windows 10 installations continue, it may not be long before the company's new OS reigns supreme.

The best Call of Duty Vanguard Kar98k loadout

Want to know what the best Kar98k loadout is in Call of Duty Vanguard? The Kar98k has been a dominant force in Call of Duty over the past few years, becoming an instant pick in Modern Warfare, Cold War, and Warzone. What makes this sniper rifle stand out is its mobility and one shot kill potential - if you love quickscoping, this is the best weapon for you.

It's rare to find stock versions of weapons that are viable at a high level, but the Kar98k might be the best stock weapon in the game. The default setup works really well for traditional sniping, especially in Vanguard which features large maps with plenty of sniping lanes. However, if you want to play aggressively, there are some attachments that can drastically change the Kar98k.

There's no point having the fastest quickscope animation if you need two shots to kill an enemy. For our Vanguard Kar98k loadout, we're focusing on improving the Kar98k's aim down sight speed without negatively affecting the weapon's damage output.

The Forest gets a resurgence on Steam as Sons of the Forest lands a release date

Excitement might be building for the follow-up to the survival-horror game The Forest, but that doesn't mean people have forgotten about the original just yet. As per SteamDB, The Forest was hitting highs of around 7,000 concurrent players on Steam at the start of October before leaping to a peak of 40,000 concurrent players by the end of the month. Since then, the first-person survival-horror simulator has steadily reached the heights of 30,000 players at peak depending on the day.

The Forest has benefited from attention from streamers for a while, with the survival game hitting a peak of 64,879 players eight months ago. Last month, though, Félix 'xQc' Lengyel was playing the game, too, which has certainly helped.

Attention is also starting to shift to Sons of the Forest, which is its follow-up game. We hadn't seen anything from the game for a while, though developer Endnight Games has now released a spooky new teaser. Alongside some eerie footage, we have learnt that the Sons of the Forest release date is now May 20, 2022, which is a delay from the previous 2021 window. Thankfully, it looks like players are happy to stick with The Forest for now.

Nvidia GeForce Now RTX 3080 membership goes live with 20 more games

Although Nvidia considers GeForce Now "complimentary" instead of a direct replacement for dedicated hardware, the green team's going hell for leather in establishing it as the dominant cloud gaming service. In just over one month, it expanded to consoles via Microsoft Edge, debuted an LG TV app, and introduced a powerful new RTX 3080 membership that leverages its flagship GPU. Now, Europeans who pre-ordered the subscription will start to gain access to all its fancy features, while all three memberships will be able to enjoy 20 new supported games, including Icarus.

The RTX 3080 membership costs double the current Priority subscription, but it offers a lot in return. It's no longer bound by the HD resolution cap, supporting up to 1440p at 120fps on PCs and 4K HDR at 60fps on Nvidia Shield - the company is currently looking to expand the latter option to more devices. You can also play for the longest amount of time, with eight hour sessions instead of six, but we recommend taking regular breaks every hour, anyway.

Nvidia is dishing out the RTX 3080 membership in limited quantities to avoid server strain, but there are still spots open in Europe and North America if you're interested. It's now rolling out, so don't fret if you don't see your account upgrade immediately, as it might take some time.

Nvidia's new RTX 2060 12GB officially debuts this month, but at a higher cost

It's needless to say that the gaming PC scene is going through a rough patch, with supply and demand issues effectively spoiling GPU Christmas present plans. While Nvidia has both an RTX 3000 refresh and a brand new RTX 4000 series lineup on the cards, neither will be available until at least 2022, and reseller Grinch bots could snatch up future stock. Thankfully, the green team has confirmed its RTX 2060 is coming out of retirement next week to alleviate stock pressures, but it may cost more than you'd perhaps expect.

In a recent statement, Nvidia told The Verge that its "premium version" of the RTX 2060 will launch on December 7, and that its price will reflect its revamped specs. Naturally, this means the new Turing card could cost more than the original 6GB card's $299 MSRP.

Reference and aftermarket variants of Nvidia's new 12GB RTX 2060 will be available next week, meaning you could still pay by getting hold of a Founder Edition GPU. That said, if its premium price scratches beyond the 2019 model's $349 price tag, it could end up costing more than the RTX 3060 did at launch.

Deep Rock Galactic devs reveal Season 2 release window

Deep Rock Galactic developer Ghost Ship Games has given us an idea of what's coming up for the co-op FPS game's second season - and roughly when it's coming up, too. The devs have teased that Deep Rock Galactic Season 2 will bring a new theme for its round of offerings, with new challenges, events, a performance pass, and more - and it's due to drop sometime in spring next year.

"We expect Season 2 to go live sometime between March and April, 2022 - first on Steam, and then a few weeks later for both Xbox and PlayStation," the team reveals on Steam. Noting how ambitious - and therefore how long in development - the game's first season was, the devs explain that Season 2 won't be quite on the same level as its predecessor in this regard, though they do make clear that it'll still be "an impressive update with all the bells and whistles, of course!" Phew!

While the studio can't reveal the full feature set for Season 2 just yet, it does confirm two to tide you over for now. First up, there are four new secondary weapons on the way, with one for each of DRG's classes. These will feature the usual round of "mods, overclocks, assignments, and unlockable weapon frames for all the existing weapon frame sets".

GTA Online weekly update boosts rewards on Gunrunning modes

It's that time of the week, folks. GTA Online has got its weekly update, so players are digging in to see what's new ahead of Rockstar's official roundup on the Newswire. One of the immediate things to stand out, which dataminer Tez2 is reporting, is that the current bevy of bonuses and discounts runs until December 14, at which point GTA Online's next update will go live. You can participate in the speculation thread on Reddit if you fancy, but keep in mind that nothing has been confirmed yet.

As for this week's haul of discounts and bonuses, it's a good time if you like the Gunrunning update. You're getting triple the rewards playing bunker, diamond, and missile base adversary modes alongside double the haul on mobile operations missions. Bunker sell missions are also offering 50% more in-game dollars and RP. Naturally, there are Gunrunning-related discounts, too. You can get 40% off bunkers and mobile operations centres alongside all the renovation and upgrade costs.

If you're looking for a new set of wheels, GTA Online has your usual offerings. The GTA Online prize ride is the Vectre, which you can nab after finishing in the top five of 12 Los Santos Car Meet races. The GTA Online podium vehicle, meanwhile, is the Squaddie.

Intel Alder Lake hasn't slowed the adoption rate of AMD Ryzen CPUs in gaming PCs

It's the beginning of December, which means the November 2021 Steam hardware survey is fresh out the oven from Valve HQ. However, this month's data may cause some upset at Intel, as its Alder Lake processors don't appear to have made a dent in the continued growth of AMD Ryzen CPUs in gaming PCs.

As we reported in September's Steam hardware survey, AMD is on something of a winning streak with its market share, which now sits at a steadily growing 31.53% (+0.69%). There are several likely contributing factors for the slow adoption rate, such as Alder Lake's new LGA 1700 socket, which can only be found on new Z690 motherboards, and bumps up the price of adoption by a significant margin.

While benchmarks suggest that Intel's 12th generation processors are capable of trading blows with AMD's best gaming CPUs, buyers may believe that Intel still needs to prove it'll keep up this competition moving forward, rather than continue to rest on its laurels with lukewarm products like its recent 11th generation Rocket Lake chips.

New RimWorld update stops mechs blowing things up, adds better catering

Another update has landed for the popular survival-simulation game RimWorld. This one is similar to the previous patch back in October, as it also comes with a wide range of fixes and balance tweaks. Some more critical issues have finally been put to bed as well.

Mechs will no longer be so trigger-happy and decide to breach every wall, building, or fence in your settlement. The enemy AI raid strategies have been adjusted so that breachers only appear around a third of the time instead of, like, all the time. They will also focus more on impassable buildings like key defensive walls, instead of those sheds you've got out back.

The catering is also about to get a lot better. The developers have added new management tools so that you can better handle the needs of vegetarian, carnivore, and eat-anything colonists that all live under the same roof. There are even new meal textures that will vary depending on ingredients. The update brings plenty of other miscellaneous changes, too, so make sure you check out the full patch notes for more details. Save games should be compatible.

How gamers are forming the future of Bossa Games

If you played any of Bossa Games' weird and wonderful games – the likes of I Am Bread and its spiritual successor I Am Fish, and the brilliant Surgeon Simulator series – you've probably thought to yourself: just how did this idea get off the ground?!

Being a studio that deals primarily with what many would classify as 'indie' games, Bossa is always looking for new ways to discover its next game. One such tactic that has proven invaluable for the studio is the growing practice of game jams. This creative practice set the stage for a new initiative for the company – Bossa Presents. More on this later.

Jam Hot

"Game jams are very much in our blood," says Henrique Olifiers, the studio's co-founder. "We started jamming at the very beginnings of the studio, back in 2012 soon after we launched our first game, Monstermind. Just a year later, in 2013, the concept of regular jamming paid off, with Surgeon Simulator coming out of its prototype born at the Global game jam, where a couple of our teams took part."

The best robot games on PC

What are the best robot games on PC? Strapping into an overpowered robot filled to the brim with rockets and lasers is a power fantasy as old as anime itself. Classic shows from the '80s and '90s - like Mobile Suit Gundam and Neon Genesis Evangelion - popularised the mecha anime genre, and helped fan the flames of the larger mech fandom. Considering that those anime were themselves inspired by manga written in the '40s and '50s, the appeal of oversized robot combat spans generations.

Robot games have a robust history rich in a variety of genres, ensuring that there's an experience for every kind of mech fan. Fancy yourself a gearhead with a penchant for the micromanagement of mech parts and deliberate, laboured robo combat? How do you feel about fast-paced, anime-inspired Voltron-style action? Good news: there's a game for you.

The bad news is that there might be too much choice. But never fear because we've compiled this list of the twelve best robot games available to play on PC and have taken special care to represent as many different genres as possible. So if you're looking to dive into the wide world of robot games, this is a great place to start.

GTA podium car: here's what vehicle you can win in GTA Online

What is the GTA 5 podium car this week? GTA Online vehicles are expensive things, so we're happy to take a spin on the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel to get a discount. Winning isn't guaranteed, sure, but it isn't out of the question either. Look, we don't have a problem - leave it alone.

You can spin the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel once a day, and each Podium Car refreshes after seven days on a Thursday. Basically, you have seven shots to get the vehicle of that given week. If you own a Penthouse, you can spin it for free, but if you don't it's $500 a spin. Don't fret if you don't win, though, as you can win something else. You have a one in 20 chance of getting the podium vehicle, a car discount, or a mystery prize. There's a four in 20 chance of getting clothes, chips, and cash. Finally, there's a five in 20 chance of getting RP.

Keeping tabs on the GTA Online podium car can be a bother, though, so we're going to keep this GTA 5 guide updated so you have somewhere to check back on. On that note, here's the GTA 5 podium car for this week.

GTA Prize Ride challenge – what is the Prize Ride this week?

The GTA Online Los Santos Tuners update introduced plenty of new content, all focused on the city's underground tuner scene. There's a new 'social space', called the LS Car Meet, where you can show off your souped-up cars, race with fellow gearheads, and take on jobs - here's how to join the LS Car Meet in the Los Santos Tuners update.

Throughout your time spent in the Car Meet, you can level up your reputation and unlock new benefits as you progress. There's also a huge Test Track inside the warehouse, where you can try out Test Rides - a great opportunity to take different vehicles for a spin.

Becoming an LS Car Meet member sets you back $50,000 in-game bucks, but it grants you access to a bunch of underground shops - the Merch Shop, Tattoo Shop, and a Modding Area where you can tweak your car in real time. At higher levels, you can create your own customised area in the Car Meet, called a Private Takeover. LS Car Meet members can also compete in Prize Ride challenges, in order to be in with a chance to win a Prize Ride.

Hearts of Iron 4 meta – combat width, division templates, and more

So, you want to know about the new Hearts of Iron 4 meta? With the release of Hearts of Iron IV's No Step Back expansion, the WW2 strategy game has changed in several significant ways, and we're not just talking about HOI4 supply. One of the stated goals of the free 1.11 patch that accompanied it is to shake up the grand strategy game's previous - stale - meta of specific division templates and combat widths.

It's safe to say that things have changed, that's for sure. Whether this new meta will get as stale as the old one remains to be seen, but early indications suggest that there are more viable options now, especially with the new supply system making larger divisions less useable than they used to be.

If you're a veteran looking for the topline on what's new, or a new player trying to understand the conversation and whatever the hell a 40/20 is, we hope this guide will help you get up to speed on the Hearts on Iron IV No Step Back meta.

Solar Ash Broken Capital Void stashes Caches 1In Solar Ash, every major area has five Voidrunner stashes to find, and the Broken Capital is no different. I've described how to get to each one, and have taken pictures to show you how to find all five — if you don't feel like searching for them. The first is right after the area start. As soon as you leave the crater, you're funneled into an open area with clouds lining the floor. To the right of the entrance, you'll see a shield box. Go that way along the clouds.   Hidden in a sort of cave that's practically underneath the rock structure you were just moving on is the first of Erving's Voidrunner stash. The second stash is located right before you enter the fountain area at the top of this section (where it doesn't let you skate or jump). From the checkpoint, go to your right and there's a rail that you can ride up to this point. Move past that and jump on the floating ground covered in red grass. Continue on this way...
