GoldenEye 007 suddenly has Achievements, sparking hopes for a release

An Xbox Achievements list for classic James Bond FPS GoldenEye 007 has suddenly leaked online, making it seem like a re-release of Rare's iconic N64 shooter may finally be on the cards - almost a year after a build of the planned GoldenEye remaster leaked.

GoldenEye 007 was developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the N64 in 1997 and, prior to Halo: Combat Evolved, is one of the most important console FPSs ever made. However, due to the rights issues surrounding the game - Nintendo gave up the Bond IP and Rare is now owned by Microsoft - GoldenEye has never been re-released on any other platform.

Microsoft and Rare clearly had a go at releasing a GoldenEye remaster, as last year's highly advanced leak proved, but presumably couldn't sort the rights out. However, the sudden release of an Achievements list for GoldenEye 007 on the Xbox database - as spotted by TrueAchievements - makes it seem like a re-release may finally be on the cards.

A new early access release trailer for Adventure Roll has been released that showcases the Neverwinter Nights-like ability for players to craft their own Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and run them as a virtual tabletop RPG - and it's available to try now.

In these days of social distancing, it's harder than ever to get a bunch of friends together to play board games. There are the wonderful likes of Tabletop Simulator for more traditional games, but what about something more intense and time-consuming like DnD?

The Adventure Roll team not only wants to provide a virtual tabletop simulator for DnD 5e campaigns but also to allow users to basically craft their own RPG. It's on a smaller scale than something like Neverwinter Nights or Divinity: Original Sin 2 modding, but it seems a lot easier and more user-friendly to craft campaigns in Adventure Roll than those titles. It's available to try now over on the website, with the latest version 0.5.2 dropping just a few days ago.

Ready or Not's January update will rejig the current maps with new modes

Rainbow Six and SWAT successor Ready or Not will be getting a big January update, developer VOID Interactive has revealed. The first Ready or Not update of 2022 will include a range of improvements, new weapons, a greater variety of dialogue, and most importantly - new game modes for the maps.

Ready or Not is a tactical FPS in the style of classic SWAT or Rainbow Six games - as opposed to the newer and quicker Rainbow Six Siege - and it's just come off a great holiday period. After releasing in Steam Early Access just before Christmas, it became the best-selling game on Steam during the Winter Sale - despite not actually being on sale.

However, developer VOID Interactive admitted that it was releasing Ready or Not earlier than it would've liked, and the current version is a particularly "early stage" beta. It's great for fans to hear, then, that VOID Interactive has confirmed that a January update is right around the corner - with a number of welcome improvements.

2021 was hot boy summer for detectives. Well, not summer. Hot boy autumn? Is that a thing? Anyway, I not only played Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, but also an incarnation of Hercule Poirot as a bright young thing in Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot: The First Cases. And yes, that name is a bit of a nightmare, but the game itself is very sweet. There's 'orrible murder, conspiracy, blackmail, union busting, and a cast of Cluedo-esque characters trapped inside a snowy manor. And yes, I am reusing the shoddy Love Island promo photo composite I made for a header picture, because it deserves the mileage.

Every year our clone forms degrade, and Katharine spends the winter break copying each consciousness into a new body. Don't worry: we can't feel a thing! Since our new forms are still coming online from their time spent in the primordial flesh soup vat of the RPS Treehouse, we can't post over Christmas, so we've prepared some Christmas Cracker jokes instead!
