PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 7:40 AM So, you want to know about Hearts of Iron 4 DLC? This grand strategy WW2 game has been out for nearly six years now, and has a battalion's worth of DLC expansions backing it up as it stands as Paradox Interactive's most popular strategy game. It shows no signs of slowing down either, which means Hearts of Iron IV could follow its older brother-in-arms Crusader Kings II in building a truly momentous library of premium downloadable content. But not everything's going to be worth buying right away, and you'll need help deciding which expansions are worth prioritising. Which is where we come in. Like our guides to EU4 DLC and CK3 DLC, we've put together an overview of each of Hearts of Iron IV's expansions, providing a top line view on what's in each pack and whether it's worth getting straight away or not. Ultimately, deciding which Hearts of Iron 4 DLC to buy comes down to personal preference and how long the pack has been available for - the longer an add-on has been around, the cheaper it'll be when it's on sale. PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 7:22 AM A benchmark entry for one of Intel's upcoming desktop Arc Alchemist GPUs has been spotted on the SiSoftware website. First identified by hardware leaker TUM_APISAK, they've also pointed out that this particular graphics card trades blows with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. Better still, it actually surpasses team green's pixel pusher in some tests. The entry reveals some key specs that indicate this could be one of the best graphics cards in Intel's Arc Alchemist lineup, featuring the DG2-512EU GPU, complete with 512 execution units and 4,096 cores. Strangely, rather than the expected 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM, the card only has 12.8GB, and it's unclear as to why. In terms of performance, Intel's GPU scored 9,017.52 mega pixels per second (MP/s) overall versus the 8,369.51MP/s accrued by the RTX 3070 Ti, giving it an 8% lead. While this doesn't give us any indication of how team blue's graphics card will perform in games, these are much more promising results than previous Arc benchmarks. PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 7:01 AM Razer has announced a Hello Kitty and Friends collection, and the new range takes the concept of kawaii gamer gear to new heights. While the company is best known for black peripherals laced with RBG lighting, its pastel Razer Quartz lineup also caters to cute gaming PC setups. However, this new Sanrio collaboration should please both fans of the iconic catgirl and anyone that appreciates adorable accessories. The Razer x Hello Kitty and Friends collection includes cutesy versions of the DeathAdder gaming mouse, Goliathus mouse pad, and Iskur X gaming chair. The ensemble also adds a bow to the Kraken Kitty headset, alongside a familiar face printed on its cups. While most of the range is based on Hello Kitty's aesthetic, the collection stays true to its name by including a bunch of Sanrio characters too. On the mouse mat, you'll find friends such as My Melody, Pompompurin, Kuromi, and Keroppi, who just so happens to be my personal favourite. PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 6:05 AM A recreated version of the Black Temple raid is coming to World of Warcraft soon. Blizzard released a new patch for WoW Classic: Burning Crusade this week that features the classic raid alongside the Battle For Mount Hyjal, except, well, those raids don't actually go live until January 27. A big part of WoW Classic, though, is the nostalgia, so Blizzard has brought in lead cinematic designer Terran Gregory to look back at the original trailer to run us through some of the team's thoughts. Gregory shares that the Black Temple trailer was his first gig at Blizzard, as he was just hired after winning a video competition with the developer. Seeing Gregory's fondness for the time is endearing, so it's certainly worth a watch. If you've been out of the loop, though, the Black Temple sees you take on the iconic villain Illidan Stormrage atop the titular temple. To get to him, though, you'll need to get through eight bosses first, such as High Warlord Naj'entus, Supremus, Shade of Akama, and Teron Gorefiend. You can find the encounter in Shadowmoon Valley once it's live, though it's a level 70 encounter, so you best come prepared. PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 5:54 AM As we head further into the new year, the League of Legends patches keep on coming. League of Legends patch 12.2 has headed to live servers, bringing new champion Zeri, the Spark of Zaun, and a whole lot of new skins. It seems 12.3 will be a somewhat humbler affair, but there are still some key changes fans will want to know - so, read on if you're keen to know what's next. It appears that League of Legends patch 12.3 won't be bringing new skins - given that these tend to hit the PBE first thing in a new testing cycle, and there doesn't seem to be any as yet - but we do have some big Ahri balance changes coming up. Principal character designer August 'Riot August' Browning has posted some details around this on Twitter. Goals for the refresh include "lean[ing] into her mobile mage identity by allowing R to partially reset, giving her more opportunities to carry fights" and reworking her passive ability to "be more useful throughout the game". Additionally, the devs want to "make her spells feel better to cast in lane". You can check out all the changed abilities in the notes below. PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 5:44 AM Want to know how to throw a Klomberry while standing within ten metres of a Klombo in Fortnite? The latest Fortnite update introduces us to the gentle giants, stomping around and hovering up all the discarded items that eliminated players leave behind. Their favourite treats are Klomberries, and it's up to you to bring them this delicious treat. So far, the season challenges have had us complete relatively simple tasks such as knocking down Fortnite timber pines, destroying and collecting Fortnite telescope parts, and destroying Fortnite signal jammers. However, this week's challenges are a little more difficult as you need to interact with a computer terminal at a Mole Time drill site that IO agents guard, harvest stone from Fortnite temples, and of course, feed the elusive Klombo some Klomberries. This guide will help you find the Klombos, how to get to their blowholes, where you can harvest some Klomberries to feed them, and what happens when you eat the Klomberries yourself. Completing these challenges is worth doing as you will get some experience to put towards unlocking Fortnite skins and Fortnite V-bucks via the battle pass. PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 5:46 AM When is the Dying Light 2 release date? Techland announced the sequel to their parkour zombie game back at E3 2018. Four laters later it's still not been released, but hope is on the horizon - you won't have to wait much longer. We've seen plenty of details about the game's gameplay, setting, and story, plus a few gameplay trailers. Techland is massively expanding on Dying Light 1's parkour movement - it's safe to say that this isn't going to be your typical undead shooter. Dying Light 2 is set in a decaying city that is struggling to keep itself together amid competing factions, so you will have a lot more to deal with than undead monstrosities. The decisions you make and the groups you team up with will shape the world around you, allowing you to reap the ensuing rewards if you can stomach the consequences. PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 3:59 AM If you're a League of Legends fan, you'll know that the MOBA game regularly receives hefty patches full of new champion skins, balance changes, and more. These arrive roughly once every two weeks - usually mid-week - and get a good round of testing on League's public beta environment (PBE) over the fortnight or so leading up to their live debuts. While they can vary in scale, with some patches ushering in significant new events and content while others focus more on a core set of adjustments to fine tune gameplay balancing, they're always a really important part of the game. As such, it's important for fans - veterans and newbies, alike - to get an idea of when each patch is coming, and what'll be in it when it drops. The good news is, we've got you covered. Riot Games has now unveiled the League of Legends 2022 patch schedule, which kicks off with League of Legends patch 12.1 on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Below, we've laid out all of the release dates for the League of Legends patches coming up in 2022 for season 12, and when our regular patch notes go up we'll link them below, too, so you've got all you need to know in one place. PCGamesN Friday, January 21, 2022 6:12 AM The Sims 4 is coming up to its 8th birthday this year and there's still no Sims 5 release date to speak of, unfortunately. There are a few rumours about the next Sims game floating around, but there's nothing concrete to report yet. In the absence of any confirmed details, it's about time we look ahead and start thinking about what we want from the next Sims game. While The Sims 4 did well, it's very hard to overlook some of the things that feel a little scaled down from previous entries in the series, not to mention all of the features that could have been implemented since in the form of post-launch content and patches. After all, we live in an age now where the game that releases is different from the one that players experience several years later. Hopefully, Maxis Studios knows exactly what it's doing, and craft something beyond our wildest dreams, but we also really want them to include a few features that fans have been asking for since the earliest days of the series. We're not saying we know better - we definitely do not - just that we'd like these to be included if that's okay please and thank you. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, January 21, 2022 8:03 AM Of the many possibilities that Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard might enable, only one seems really clear: that Microsoft will put Actiblizz games on Game Pass. Here's another maybe: Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer says they're hoping to dig into Actiblizz's "franchises that I love from my childhood," raising the likes of Hexen and King's Quest. What better use for $69 billion than wallowing in nostalgia? |
