Kotaku Tuesday, January 25, 2022 8:45 PM Even in a franchise as full of brilliant characters as Guilty Gear, Baiken rules. (Hey, you should check out the PCGN Overwolf app while you're here.) Now the folks behind Overwolf are investing in Kidas, a company developing an AI-driven app to help prevent cyberbullying in multiplayer games. "This partnership perfectly aligns to Overwolf's stance on responsible gameplay and supports our core values of gaming safe and with integrity," Overwolf's VP of business development says in a statement to VentureBeat. Kidas's app supports about 120 games, and Overwolf plans to expand that to the 9,000 games in its own library. As the devs explain on the official site, "Kidas is a tool to help you identify and address any dangerous situations that your child may encounter while interacting with others in video games, from cyberbullying to predatory behavior. Kidas analyzes your child's gaming activity and in-game communication to alert you of any potentially concerning situations." Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, January 25, 2022 6:16 PM Vampire Survivors is an action RPG boiled down to its core. You walk around, you kill monsters, you level up, you get stronger, you kill more monsters. In place of story, an inventory, or even the need to fire and aim your own weapons, there is pixel art spectacle. On my last life, I killed around 24,000 monsters in 30 minutes. I am hooked. |

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, January 25, 2022 9:00 PM Nvidia put on a real show back in 2018 when it first showed of real-time ray tracing on its RTX 20 Series graphics cards, but it didn't take long for most gamers to realize the tech was ahead of its time in terms of usability. That's why it's exciting to hear that the company is making more progress in improving the efficiency of ray tracing on GPUs for future generations of hardware. As spotted by @0X22H on Twitter and reported by Tom's Hardware, an Nvidia research team aided by Sana Damani of the Georgia Institute of Technology recently published its findings on the topic. As it would have it, they settled on quite the abstract name for the technique: introducing "Subwarp Interleaving." The publication is by no surprise very technical and delves into levels of physics we're not even going to attempt to explain. Don't take our word for it though, here's an excerpt from just the introduction: "Subwarp Interleaving exploits ... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, January 25, 2022 8:00 PM Video game adaptations to the big screen have always been a hot-button issue for many gamers. The rule for a while now has been that video game adaptations are often destined to fail, ending up bogged down by the lack of care or understanding of what makes games so special in the first place. But regardless, they keep making money, so Hollywood will continue churning them out. The narrative has shifted a bit recently with films like Sonic the Hedgehog and perhaps Detective Pikachu. So when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson says he's bringing one of the "biggest, most badass games to the screen" in yet another video game movie, at least it's not an immediate death sentence. He stated this in an interview with Men's Journal while doing an interview regarding his future appearance as Black Adam, an upcoming DC superhero movie. The interview cited Johnson's relations with Xbox and Microsoft and asked if there were any plans to bring video game cha... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, January 25, 2022 7:46 PM In September of last year, a newly formed studio named 2.21 revealed that it would soon work on a new entry in the fondly remembered Little Big Adventure series. This came as a pleasant surprise considering that the last game in the series, Little Big Adventure 2, came out all the way back in 1997. Although details surrounding this mysterious game remained scarce, a LinkedIn job posting suggested it would reboot the story of the first Little Big Adventure. Just today, Didier Chanfray, one of the artists behind the original series, confirmed as such, stating that 2.21 aims to release this reboot in 2024, the year of Little Big Adventure's 30th anniversary. In a statement from Chanfray, he describes the reasoning as to why a new Little Big Adventure game has not surfaced in over two decades. Essentially, once he and his team left Adeline Software International to work on the Dreamcast, they focused exclusively on new IPs, and Chanfray bought back the rights to Little Big Adventu... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, January 25, 2022 6:00 PM I'm a sucker for a good story about family and reuniting with a lost loved one. So immediately, I'm having some high expectations for the emotional impact that No Place for Bravery might have on me. No Place for Bravery is an upcoming story-driven RPG about the warrior Thorn, who goes on a quest to find his long-lost daughter. But more interestingly, it seems as if the game isn't all that it seems to be. How far you'll go to save your family isn't a situation that's so black and white. Developed by Glitch Factory and published by Ysbryd Games, the game was originally announced for a Q4 2021 release date, but a decision was made to delay the game to give it some extra love. Now, the game will release sometime in Q3 2022, or sometime in-between July and September. With these changes, the developers hope to better realize their vision "of a timeless dark fable about the thin line between heroism and obsession." Sounds like a solid vision ... |
