Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is free with Amazon Prime this month

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is among the free games for Amazon Prime subscribers this month. Though often overshadowed by its sequel, Skyrim, there are some fans who would say that it's the better of the two and it certainly offers a memorable RPG experience.

When it released back in 2006, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was the big fantasy game. If you've always been a fan of Skyrim but never ventured into any of the other Elder Scrolls game, this would be an excellent time to do so. While it's more primitive than its successor in some ways, it still provides a beautiful and immersive open world to explore in which you can easily spend hundreds of hours.

This is the Game of the Year Deluxe Edition, too, which means that it comes bundled with both of the expansions, Knights of the Nine, and Shivering Isles. With Amazon Prime, you'll receive a code to download the game for free on GOG.com, but only if you have an active subscription and claim it before May 2.

Genshin Impact events – all current and upcoming events

Want to know more about the upcoming Genshin Impact events? A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events.

There are usually a number of Genshin Impact events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies.

Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community.

Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness Canceled

Development for the upcoming mobile title Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness has been canceled. The cancelation was announced at a recent stockholder's meeting at Vespa, the Korean parent company of Japanese developer Hive. Hive initially planned to release the game globally within the first half of 2022. [Thanks, Gamecast!]

According to Korean media, the main reason for the cancelation was the required development time and budget. Parent company Vespa has reportedly been in financial trouble for the past two years and is in danger of being delisted from the Korean stock market. Vespa will instead focus on releasing its existing mobile game projects, including the tower defense RPG Time Defenders and King's Raid 2.

During the stockholder's meeting, a Vespa representative stated, "the company is in a situation where it's necessary to cut costs. We are currently working on multiple projects internally, and as Shining Force would require a longer development period and a significant budget, we decided to cancel development."

The original Shining Force was released for the Sega Dreamcast in 1992. Developer Hive announced that it had acquired the distribution rights to the Shining Force IP from Sega back in August 2021. At that point, development had already begun for the game. A week later, Hive released a trailer featuring gameplay footage of the game. The trailer revealed that characters from previous installations of the series would appear.
