The Sonic Origins release date leaked earlier, along with a load of details and artwork about the much-delayed remasters of some of the best platform games ever made. The leak stated that the Sonic remastered collection is coming this summer - and SEGA now confirms the news is correct. Back in May last year, the Sonic the Hedgehog anniversary event revealed the new mainline Sonic game - which was later confirmed as Sonic Frontiers, the series' first open-world game - but also announced a remastered re-release of the classic MegaDrive/Genesis Sonic games with "new content and features". That's Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. After that, things went very silent on Sonic Origins, but this week several new leaks confirmed multiple details about the remaster - including the release date. Just a few hours later, SEGA has now re-revealed the Sonic collection, which will indeed land on PC this summer. |

Our original space 4X game started out as a community project; nearly 30 years ago in 1993, I was a college student and spent my free time on Usenet talking about turn-based strategy games with other fans of that genre. I loved Sid Meier's Civilization - released in 1991 - but I wanted a game that took some of those elements and put them on a galactic scale. From my dorm room, I worked on the game and put out 'beta' builds (that by today's standards would be considered pre-pre-alpha) for people to comment on and give suggestions. This is how Galactic Civilizations was born. The first Galactic Civilizations game eventually released in 2003, with Civilization well into its third entry. After it launched, I made it my full-time job and that's how Stardock came to be. As a one-person enterprise, I relied heavily on other people for their input, although not on the art work - I was doing all of that myself. The first significant DLC for Surviving Mars since the Below and Beyond expansion in September last year is coming to the management game next week, April 29 - in fact, there are three DLC packs coming, and they're all user-made. These "content creator packs" are essentially mods made official by Paradox. Martian Express is the highlight, made by modders Lucian 'LukeH' Hada and Sylvain 'Silva' Maupetit, which will add a fully-functioning train system to Surviving Mars. Players can build stations outside of their domes and then use their space locomotives to ferry people and resources across the planet - presumably with all the game's usual dangers and calamities intact. Each week you've got a chance at a different weapon for completing Nightfall Strikes, and ever since Season of the Lost, fan-favourite legacy weapons from the original Destiny have been added to the rotation. Two new weapons were introduced into the pool in Season of the Risen, so it's more important than ever to know in advance the Nightfall weapon schedule. In case you don't know what the Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon means, Nightfall: The Ordeal is a playlist available in the Vanguard menu, alongside the basic Strike playlist. Each week, a different Strike is chosen as the Nightfall, and offered in five escalating difficulties, with harder enemies, challenging modifiers, and enemy power levels cranking up. The coveted Nightfall weapons have a chance to drop from any Nightfall Strike difficulty, but it's far more likely at higher levels. Your best bet for farming each week's Nightfall weapon is to set the Strike to Master difficulty, according to YouTuber Aztecross. You should also note that there's no automatic matchmaking above Hero difficulty, however, so you'll need to get a squad together. Sega revealed the Sonic Origins collection release date. People will be able to play through the compilation on June 23, 2022. This announcement involved a new trailer that confirmed features and platforms. Essentially, every major one is covered. Folks will be able to find it on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. First, as a reminder, this collection comes with five Sonic the Hedgehog games. People who buy it can play Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. There will be new animated segments in the collection. A short teaser video for the upcoming One Piece Film Red movie is now available on its official Twitter account. The video shows off new outfits for five characters – Law, Bepo, Bartolomeo, Koby, and Helmeppo. According to the tweet, even though the pirates and the Marines are both there for Uta's performance, they are a breath away from starting a fight. Voltage announced that visual novel even if TEMPEST will release for Nintendo Switch on June 9, 2022. It will feature Japanese and English language support. The game will also be fully voiced, with the exception of the main character. Alongside the announcement of the game, a short trailer was released. The trailer features a look at the art style for the visual novel and provides a glimpse into the background of the player character. The player character of even if TEMPEST is a young woman who has a unique ability that allows her to rewind time. This also allows for her to avoid death, in some circumstances. This is illustrated in the trailer and mentioned on the official website. However, more information about the mechanics of the title will be released sometime in the future. Sony announced that consumers no longer need to connect their PlayStation 5 controllers to the console in order to update the firmware. Instead, consumers can update their PS5 controllers through the use of a PC with a firmware update app. However, users will need to have Windows 10 or Windows 11 in order to apply updates to their controllers. After downloading and installing the app, consumers can connect the PS5 controllers to their PC to apply firmware updates. Sony has provided further instructions through a webpage dedicated to this update. Sony mentions that only one controller can be updated at a time. Each controller will need to be connected individually in order to apply the update. Additionally, it states that the computer should not be turned off during this process. The application will alert users once the firmware update has been applied successfully. Users may also need to download additional software through the application. In February 2022, Sony announced that sales for the PlayStation 5 had reached 17.2 million units worldwide. Despite this, Sony has lowered its expected revenue for its Game and Service forecast. This is due to the ongoing chip shortage and the low number of consoles the company is able to produce. However, Sony will continue to try and meet the demand for the PlayStation 5. On April 19, 2022, Square Enix filed a trademark for 4 YoRHa in Europe. Additionally, on the same day as the 4 YoRHa trademark, Square Enix also filed a trademark for Triangle Strategy in Europe. However, it should be noted that 4 YoRHa is the name of a series of DLC that was available in NieR Replicant. This DLC allowed consumers to access NieR: Automata-inspired costumes. More information about the filing of these trademarks could appear in the future. During the NieR: Automata 5th anniversary event, Square Enix announced the production of an anime based on the game. A short trailer was provided alongside the announcement. However, it simply provided a look at the potential art style for the anime. No animation was shown. The NieR: Automata anime was announced to be in production in February 2022. Since the release of NieR: Automata, the series has found success. This success has produced a remaster of NieR Replicant and the mobile title NieR Re[in]carnation. The remaster featured new visuals, an overhaul of the combat system to make it more fluid, and an entirely new ending. NieR Re[in]carnation is a mobile game that has featured established characters from the NieR franchise. However, it includes entirely new characters and is told in short storybook-like chapters. Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be undergoing emergency maintenance. This is due to an issue with the housing lottery system that was put in place with the release of Final Fantasy XIV 6.1. Maintenance will begin on April 20, 2022, at 11:30pm JST/7:30am PDT/10:30am EDT/4:30pm CEST. Square Enix has not announced when maintenance will end, only that the housing district will be available once the issue has been resolved. Additionally, due to the malfunction in this system, the announcement of winners for plots as part of the second round of the housing lottery has been extended. As mentioned previously, the reason for Final Fantasy XIV undergoing emergency maintenance is an issue with the housing lottery system. This consists of two different bugs that appeared once the first round of lottery winners was selected. Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida was immediately involved in the investigation of these bugs and released a statement regarding the lottery feature. Leading up to the emergency maintenance, Square Enix urged users to purchase the plots that they had successfully bid on. The developer also assured players that once the fix has been put in place, there should be no adverse effects. This means users will not be losing the houses they've acquired. Bandai Namco announced that The Idolmaster: Pop Links will shut down on July 21, 2022, on the mobile title's 1.5-year anniversary. The game's in-game currency will no longer be purchasable starting June 21, 2022. Despite the shutdown, the development team states that it will continue releasing new events leading up to the game's end of service.
