Subnautica meets Cities Skylines in this sunken city builder

There's a new survival city-building game coming later this year, and the twist is that it's basically a Bioshock management game. The Aquatico reveal trailer shows the game as a neat mix of Surviving Mars meets Subnautica, and seems like it also features survival and exploration elements too.

Aquatico is the new underwater city-management strategy game from Digital Reef and Overseer Games, the studio behind last year's well-received medieval city builder Patron. According to Aquatico's Steam page, it's set in a far-flung future where the surface has become uninhabitable and we haven't got the technology to colonise other planets yet - which is basically an excuse to create a submerged city.

Like in Surviving Mars, humans can't survive outside the base, so it's a matter of putting together an underwater city where the inhabitants can live and thrive, would you kindly. Build a city, gather resources, tend to your population's needs, explore, and "overcome unique dangers that lurk in this incredible environment", all with the help of drones, submarines, and Big Daddies - um, "mechanized underwater robots".

Eve Online subscriptions are going up due to

According to developer CCP, Eve Online subscriptions are set to increase in the space game as of next month, as well as the in-game currency - with the one-month tier seeing its first rise since 2004. CCP attributes this to "global trends" and increased production costs in making the popular MMORPG game.

In a new post on Eve Online's website, CCP goes into how the MMO has grown and evolved in the 19 years it's been active and how the studio "plans to make New Eden and its community mightier than ever". To allow the team to "continue investing in Eve Online's evolution and growth", CCP is "updating" the price of all Omega subscriptions and the in-game currency PLEX.

CCP says that the new price increase "reflects global trends impacting general production costs and accounts for years of inflation". This is apparently the first time the one-month subscription has increased since 2004. The rise in the cost of subscriptions and PLEX currency will go into effect a month from now, on May 17.

Call of Duty 2022 tease hints at Modern Warfare 2 reveal

A new Call of Duty 2022 tease from the FPS game series' creators Infinity Ward hints that something is coming very soon - with Call of Duty leaks suggesting that a Modern Warfare II reveal is coming as soon as this month.

Earlier this year, Activision confirmed that Call of Duty creators Infinity Ward is making the next game in the shooter series for release this year, most likely in November. This is strongly rumoured to be a new entry in the Modern Warfare series and the sequel to the 2019 game, and may even be given the confusing title of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

This weekend, Infinity Ward changed the background on its Twitter account to what seems to be a solid black colour - except, when fans brightened up this banner it revealed what looks like Ghost from the Modern Warfare series. It was previously rumoured that this character would make a return, and this seems to confirm it.

Elden Ring VR mod teased by Cyberpunk 2077 and RDR2 modder

An Elden Ring VR mod is being teased by a modder responsible for similar Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2 VR mods, suggesting a whole new terrifying way to play one of the best RPGs on PC - not to mention the possible Elden Ring first-person mod implications.

There are a lot of great VR games on PC already, but other than the likes of Skyrim VR there aren't too many open-world games accessible to virtual reality fans. Modder Luke Ross has already created mods to make the likes of Red Dead 2, GTA 5, Cyberpunk 2077, and even No-One Lives Forever 2 playable in VR, and their latest video suggests they've set their sights on Elden Ring.

The unassuming trailer below shows Elden Ring's memorable opening with the Chapel of Anticipation and Grafted Scion encounter, and it's all shown in first-person - and clearly looks like it's VR too, with the way the UI elements move around. Ross calls it a "sneak peek" of what they're working on, so there's no telling when the mod will actually be available.

fire emblem warriors three hopes story

Nintendo shared some details involving the early story of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Notably, it revealed that the protagonist will join one of the three student houses at the beginning of the game. The player's choice will affect the perspective of the game's storyline.

Similar to its predecessor, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, players will join one of the three main student houses of the series: Black Eagles, Blue Lions, or Golden Deer. Unlike Three Houses in which protagonist Byleth started as a teacher, though? Players will instead join as a student at the start of the story.

As each student house is loyal to a specific nation, this choice will dictate from which perspective the story plays out. The Black Eagles will follow the Adrestian Empire. The Blue Lions will follow the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. Finally, the Golden Deer will follow the Leicester Alliance.

https://twitter.com/FireEmblemMusou/status/1517427996155691012

Nintendo briefly expanded upon each of these story routes in an earlier Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes story trailer, introducing main character Shez. Byleth made an appearance in that same trailer as "The Ashen Demon."

Furthermore, Nintendo revealed that players will be able to choose Byleth's gender similar to Shez. As Byleth was a teacher at one of the three student houses, they could be the reason why Shez eventually becomes a student.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will release for the Nintendo Switch on June 24, 2022.
