Genshin Impact 2.7 delay announced by Mihoyo

Developer Mihoyo has announced a Genshin Impact 2.7 delay, stating that the next big Genshin Impact 2.7 release date has been temporarily postponed. The delay is likely at least in part due to the recent COVID-19 lockdown in Shanghai where Mihoyo is based. This means players will have to wait a bit longer for the much anticipated new Genshin Impact characters Yelan and Kuki Shinobu, who are due to arrive in the version 2.7 update.

Fans of the open-world RPG were anticipating a May 11 release date for version 2.7, based on the regular six week development cycle that Genshin Impact updates have mostly stuck to in the past. However, this announcement almost certainly means that the update will be arriving a little later down the line. The official Genshin Impact Twitter account which announced the delay did not give a specific timeframe, but said Mihoyo "will provide the corresponding information to Travellers as soon as possible."

Datamined information for Genshin Impact 2.7 means some of the key components of the update are already out there. Part of the 2.7 trailer has been leaked, though it doesn't give away much new information. New character Yelan's ascension materials are already likely known, so check out our guide if you want to use the extra time provided by the delay to prepare the things you need to level her up when she arrives.

Furyu will open up pre-orders for 1/4 scale figures of Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen on April 30, 2022. This figure is for the 25th anniversary of Cardcaptor Sakura. As the kimono is a handmade cloth one, Furyu will only produce as many as there are pre-orders. [Thanks, Hobby Dengeki!]

The motif for this figure is based on a cover from the May 2020 issue of Nakayoshi. Nakayoshi is a monthly shoujo manga magazine. Yoshitoku, which is a store that specializes in hina dolls and gogatsu ningyo, designed the kimono as a collaboration with F:NEX, which is Furyu's brand of hobby goods. Hina dolls and gogatsu ningyo are both traditional dolls for Girls' Day and Boys' Day, respectively.

There are cherry blossoms on the back of the obi, and there is also gold leaf in the embroidery. According to the article, the gold leaf and obi decorations are to create a feeling of celebration. As mentioned previously, this figure is in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the series. Sakura is also holding a twig of cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms on the obi utilize the "tsumami zaiku" technique, which is when the artist pinches repetitively at the material in order to create a flower-like shape.

The Japanese doll Sakura Kinomoto figure from Furyu and Yoshitoku are open for pre-order until July 13, 2022. It will cost 168,300 JPY, which is approximately $1285.15. The production is by demand, and the figure will ship out in February 2023. F:NEX does not deliver overseas.
