PCGamesN Friday, May 13, 2022 6:01 PM  There have been a few attempts to capture the magic of Nintendo's Smash Bros games on PC, and Warner Bros. Games is making a big play for that with MultiVersus. It's a free-to-play fighting game that'll be coming out later this year - but you might be able to jump in for an early preview next week. MultiVersus, which features a fighter roster drawn from everything from Scooby-Doo to Game of Thrones, will run a closed alpha test May 17 - 29. Participants will be able to try out the 2v2 team mode with characters like Shaggy, Bugs Bunny, and Arya Stark. The test will include players on both consoles and PC, with cross-play support and dedicated server-based rollback netcode enabled. To register for a chance to participate in the closed alpha, you just need to head to the official MultiVersus site and click on the Closed Alpha Sign Up button. That will prompt you to log in to your Warner Bros. Games account, or to create one if you don't already have one. |
PCGamesN Friday, May 13, 2022 5:07 PM  Path of Exile's latest expansion, Sentinel, is out now on PC and macOS. The expansion kicks off a new Challenge League in the free PC game, in which the central mechanic is customisable sentinel orbs that follow you around firing magic beams at your enemies. But sentinels aren't here to make your life easier - just the opposite, in fact. Their beams empower monsters and create tougher fights for you to take on. In the Sentinels Challenge League, you'll find three classes of sentinel scattered around Wraeclast. Stalker sentinels will repeatedly fire monster-empowering beams once you enter combat. Pandemonium sentinels fire one big blast, empowering monsters in a large area. Then there's apex sentinels, which will only charge up rare or unique enemies. Sentinels only work for a limited time and eventually run out of charge, but you don't want to throw away your empties. Depleted sentinels can be combined with a power core to create a new, fully charged sentinel that takes on traits from each sentinel husk used in its construction. You can further tweak the behaviour of your sentinels with the Sentinel Controller, which Grinding Gear Games says is "like a runic circuit board." PC Invasion - FeedDDD Friday, May 13, 2022 6:55 PM  In late February, Capcom introduced a new set of guidelines affecting community events that stage matchups of Street Fighter V. Needless to say, it did not go over well. Capcom has at last responded, introducing changes to the Street Fighter V Licensing Agreement. For the most part, small-to-medium tournament organizers should feel some relief. The original agreement by Capcom would have meant that all tournaments would need to be pre-approved by the publisher. Not only that, but the company set a cap on winner earnings. Any event that offered $10,000 or more in a year would need to apply for a license. Single sponsorships were limited to $5,000 per event and $20,000 per year. Tournaments could no longer be held in places where alcohol and gambling took place, such as bar arcades. Capcom also claimed all rights to video and photographs taken during the event.
