Resident Evil 2 PC upgrade patch will raise minimum required specs

The Resident Evil 2 PC upgrade will bring it, along with Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 7, in line with current-gen consoles by adding ray tracing and other enhancements – but it's also changing the system requirements. After the patch goes live, the survival horror game will no longer support DirectX 11 drivers and will only be playable on DirectX 12, Capcom said in a short update on Steam.

It will tweak a few other system requirements as well. The minimum specifications will no longer include Windows 7 and 8.1 (64 bit). You'll need Windows 10 (64 bit) or Windows 11. Resident Evil 2 currently supports Nvidia GeForce RTX 760 and AMD Radeon R7 260x, but after the update, you need at least GeForce RTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 460.

Capcom gave no indication when it expects the update to go live, but some eagle-eyed internet users have already spotted the franchise's updates on Sony's servers. It's caused a bit of speculation that they may arrive sometime after the publisher's June 13 summer showcase.

New Phasmophobia update makes planning investigations easier

The latest Phasmophobia update, which Kinetic calls the Truck Overhaul update, is out now, and in addition to making the promised overhauls to the truck, it adds some new ghosts to what's already one of the best ghost games on PC. If you've enjoyed exploiting the sanity pill bug and getting infinite sanity pills, though, Kinetic Games has some bad news for you.

The Truck Overhaul update adds new layouts and models to the truck and makes grabbing the equipment you want significantly easier by mounting it on the walls, instead of leaving it clustered together on a few shelves. It also introduces three new ghost types, the Deogen, who always watches you; the Moroi, a vengeance-seeking ghost who curses their victims; and the Thaye, a ghost that's always aging… somehow.

For the two weeks following the new Phasmophobia update, you can expect to see these ghosts spawn much more frequently, as Kinetic said they want to give players a better chance of understanding how they operate – in lieu of learning about them in patch notes. While it might seem like a step back from the more transparent patch notes Kinetic promised earlier in 2022, there's good reason for it.

Stardew Valley like Coral Island announces release date

Stairway Games has announced that their Stardew Valley-like Coral Island will be entering early access in October with a new trailer at the IGN Summer of Gaming show. The farming game garnered plenty of attention in 2021 when it smashed through its initial Kickstarter funding goal of $70,000, and reached a total of over $1.6 million USD raised. The life sim game is due to launch on Steam Early Access on October 11.

Coral Island's huge surge in funding has meant the team at Stairway Games are planning a huge number of additional features, minigames, and characters for the game - as well as adding increasingly more of Coral Island's inhabitants to the dateable roster, because what is a Stardew-like without the opportunity to get flirty with the locals? There's even going to be an underwater Merfolk Kingdom, featuring 20 merfolk, its own seasonal festival, unique merfolk questlines… and, of course, even a little subaquatic romance.

These additional features are all mapped out on Coral Island's Kickstarter page, including a promised endgame mechanic called 'island hopping' set to arrive after the game's 1.0 release, which will see players building a ship and travelling around to different islands in a new biome around Coral Island.

Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is basically Tolkien Valheim

Free Range Games and North Beach Games announced The Lord of the Rings: Return to Mora, a survival crafting game, during the Epic Games Showcase, an Epic exclusive planned for release in early 2023. Return to Moria takes place in Middle Earth's Fourth Age, after the War of the Ring ends, the elves depart, and Sauron is no more. Gimli the dwarf lord sends an expedition team back into the Mines of Moria to establish a new settlement, and that's where you and your city planning expertise come in.

Keen Tolkien fans will already realize the timeline is a bit skewed here. In Tolkien's saga, Gimli establishes a settlement in the Glittering Caves of Rohan before expressing a desire to see the Undying Lands and meet Legolas again. Return to Moria may take liberties with the established timeline, but it's based on a winning formula.

Your goal in Return to Moria is carving out a new civilization on a procedurally generated map, building cities and villages, gathering resources, handling threats, and exploring as deeply as you dare. In short, it's a Lord of the Rings twist on the Valheim formula Iron Gate established so well.

Castlevania: Nocturne brings Richter Belmont to Netflix

New Netflix animated series Castlevania: Nocturne stars Richter Belmont in a spin-off of the popular videogame Netflix adaptation. The new series, which was hinted at previously, has been announced with a teaser trailer as part of Netflix's Geeked Week, and will focus on Richter - a distant descendant of the original show's Trevor Belmont.

The show is currently in production by Powerhouse Animation, the animation team behind the original Castlevania Netflix series, but a release date has yet to be announced. It will also feature young vampire hunter Maria Renard, who appears alongside Richter in Castlevanias: Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, and Nocturne of Recollection. The presentation also confirms that Castlevania: Nocturne is set during the events of the French Revolution in 1792.

The original animated adaptation of Castlevania, which starred Richard Armitage as Trevor Belmont, Alejandra Reynoso as Sypha Belnades, James Callis as Alucard, and Graham McTavish as Dracula, received plenty of praise and celebration when it first released on the streaming service. This led to it being renewed for a total of four seasons, and word of a follow-up series starring Richter was originally teased at Geeked Week 2021.

Street Fighter 6 Has Rollback Netcode, Cross-Play Still Up in the Air

As part of Summer Game Fest 2022, there is a media and creators in-person Play Days event. Among the titles present is Street Fighter 6. This also means access to people tied to the game. At the event, GameSpot and Giant Bomb's Tamoor Hussain confirmed Street Fighter 6 will feature rollback netcode. Questions about cross-play in Street Fighter 6 came up, but there's no official announcement yet.

First, here's Hussain's confirmation regarding rollback netcode in Street Fighter 6.

As for whether or not cross-play will appear in Street Fighter 6, there are conflicting messages coming out of the event. Maximillian Dood is attending the event as well and said he was told it would be present.

However, Hussain received a more diplomatic and measured response from Capcom.

Street Fighter 6 is in development for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. It will launch in 2023.

symphony of war review

Increased enthusiasm for tactical role-playing games in recent years is leading to a wealth of fun indie experiences in the genre. Dancing Dragon Games, a small JRPG developer, partnered with Dark Deity publisher Freedom Games for its own entry, Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga. It isn't just an homage, though, offering overlaid tactical systems that make it feel mechanically distinct. The scrappy release isn't much of a looker (though there's some nice sprite work!), but the gameplay is what matters, and there's a lot of thought to it.

The tactical mechanics of Symphony of War are inspired by a lot of classic games, primarily Ogre Battle and Fire Emblem. Instead of individual fighters on the grid-based map, you form squads of up to nine warriors operating as one. These squads essentially auto-battle based on how they're arranged, so putting together teams that work well is key. There are ranged units, magic units, firearms and more, each with gameplay implications. Squads also have movement based on their aggregate capabilities, like the increased range of cavalry or the minimized terrain penalties of light infantry.

symphony of war the nephilim saga review

The core of Symphony of War's appeal lies in its micromanagement. Building a squad is just plain fun. Combining unit classes? Outfitting the team with the ideal artifacts? These systems scratch a very particular itch, and they do it better than anything we've played recently. There's a lot of variety in what works, too. A diverse team can work well and be prepared for any situation, sure. But what about a whole crew of long-range archers? You have to protect them from a direct attack, but the sheer firepower can be well worth it.

Chapters can vary in length and complexity. At the low end, they're at Fire Emblem levels, but larger maps can be longer and more involved. If you enjoy games like Langrisser with a bit more to manage, you'll appreciate this stuff more. It's also a game that rewards spending time between chapters optimizing your loadouts. You may not have to do it, but we disbanded and rebuilt our teams every few chapters, and it felt rewarding to do so when our reconfigured capacities fit in another unit or led to increased artifact synergy.

symphony of war the nephilim saga review

Symphony of War is undeniably a RPG Maker game at heart. Phil Hamilton and the Dancing Dragon Games team have done a lot of work to augment the engine's capabilities, for sure. But production values are limited by the system, and the story sequences retain that RPG Maker look that is irrevocably associated with low-quality fan games.

Early players will likely encounter some bugs and weirdness. Our time with the game during the pre-release review period shows that the game's definitely coming in hot. Our cursor got stuck. Recruiting units got broken. The entire Surrender mechanic changed mid-playthrough. The developer is clearly paying a lot of attention and working hard, so there are a lot of benefits to that! (Like that recruiting issue? We reported it and it was fixed within hours.) It's just good to know that things could be in flux for a little while.

stefan knows to protect his IP

The story is ambitious for a largely-solo production. Gods! Prophecies! Intrigue! It'd take a lot to make this work, and Symphony of War doesn't often have the resources for "a lot." But it's tolerable, and in service of the mechanical progression. Most occurrences are accompanied by a new power or class change. It also goes places. It may not entirely earn its big moments, but you can't say it doesn't try.

Symphony of War could definitely do a better job of explaining itself. There's a full system of tutorial documents, and that's nice, but contextually? More could be done. We'd especially like to see a quick indication of how many deployment slots are available in the next chapter. Entering the next map and then bailing is an option, but early in the game, we'd just like a heads-up when we have more room for squads. Generally speaking, when you make build choices in the game, you should look through the manuals too.

symphony of war the nephilim saga review

This feels like a game for which challenge definitely snowballs. We played through the full 30-chapter campaign on the normal difficulty, and optimization efforts led to us outpacing the opposition. The game's built on breaking the system in your favor, through the tech tree and super-powered god characters. The top tech options, in particular, bust open a lot of maps. For example, one unlocks Dragon Riders. In addition to being great fighters, they're also the only flying units in a game that doesn't really take them into account.

This is fundamentally and intentionally part of the progression, so you'd expect the game's challenge to take it into account with ramped-up foes. But outside of some efforts to show mercy on the other army? We skated through the back half of the game with little trouble. The game also has a "permadeath" option, though, which can swing in the other direction entirely. Losing particular squad units happens all the time with totally sound strategy. Brutal! But hey, it's here as an option for ya.

dancing dragon games freedom games nephilim saga

Appreciating Symphony of War takes some adjustment to its production values, but our 50 hours with the game were largely a joy. It's built for those who delight in fiddling with systems and tweaking squad builds, and its combination of ideas offers a distinct tactical experience.

Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga is developed by Dancing Dragon Games and published by Freedom Games. It's available now on PC.

Back in June 2021, Netflix announced a new animated Castlevania show was in development. It noted that series staples Richter Belmont and Maria Renard would be its stars. Now during Netflix Geeked Week 2022, a teaser appeared and revealed the series' name is Castlevania: Nocturne.

The segment is incredibly brief. Initially, we only see Richter from behind. He's wearing a familiar blue coat and carrying his trademark whip. As the camera focuses in on details, like a crest on his back, different characters from the series can be heard speaking to him. After one person says, "We're looking for someone called Belmont," Richter turns around. After that, the show's name and its logo is revealed.

Here's the official announcement tweet. It also mentions "season 1," suggesting there could be more than one season of this show.

The last Netflix Castlevania show ended up running for four seasons. It starred Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard.

A Tekken: Bloodline anime updated appeared as part of Netflix Geeked Week 2022. The show is based on the series and will focus on Jin Kazama's journey. To help provide more context, Tekken Chief Producer and Team Leader Katsuhiro Harada offered thoughts on the adaptation.

First, Harada explained that the show is designed to offer backstory for Jin people hadn't seen before. He mentioned how it will show life with Jun Kazama. In the first new clip from the Tekken: Bloodline anime, it shows Jin talking and training with his mother. After that segment, it shows Jin dealing with, then defeating, some bullies.

Harada also joked he would apologize to the Tekken character if he could. He noted, "If Jin Kazama were a real person, the one thing I would say to him is, 'I'm sorry for always putting you through so many awful things.'"

Here is the new Netflix Tekken: Bloodline video.

This is the second time we've gotten a rather good look at the show. The first was back in March 2022. That's when Netflix announced it would be working on the adaptation. An initial teaser trailer appeared back then.

People will be able to watch the Tekken: Bloodline anime on Netflix in 2022.

Gungrave G.O.R.E. Release Date

Gungrave G.O.R.E. will release in Fall 2022. Information about the expected release window appeared during the IGN Summer of Gaming 2022 online event. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer, which featured an extended look at its gameplay and English voice acting.

You can watch the Gungrave G.O.R.E. release date announcement trailer below.

[embed]https://youtu.be/T06GNk5n-Xg[/embed]

In October 2021, Koch Media revealed several Japanese voice actors will return to reprise their roles in Gungrave G.O.R.E. Among them are Tomokazu Seki, who will voice Brandon "Beyond the Grave" Heat, and Fumihiko Tachiki, who voiced Bunji Kugashira. Composers Tetsuya Shibata and Yoshino Aoki will create music for the action game.

Gungrave G.O.R.E. was originally announced in 2018. It had a scheduled 2019 release. The game was subsequently delayed until 2020 to create a "cooler game." However, updates on Gungrave G.O.R.E. remained scarce. No new information about the game appeared until 2021, which was after the expected 2020 window of release passed.

A cinematic trailer was shown, which included designs by Ikumi Nakamura who formerly worked for Capcom and Tango Gameworks. In a developer interview, Nakamura talked about adding her signature touch to the designs that will appear in the game.

Gungrave G.O.R.E. will release for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in Fall 2022.

Amd Rdna 3 Performance Specs Gpu Gaming Radeon Graphics CardsAt Financial Analyst Day summer 2022, AMD confirmed some new details regarding its upcoming RDNA 3 architecture that will feature in Radeon 7000 Series GPUs later this year. Some of the information was reconfirmed from estimates outlined in prior years, but it also confirmed some prior leaks were true. It's a shame, but at least there are some interesting gaming shows confirmed for Netflix. Let's get to it.   Cyberpunk: Edgerunners While most gaming shows got new info and trailers today, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners got a trailer earlier in the week. The show delves deeper into the Cyberpunk universe to share new stories ...
