Gen Urobuchi's 2009 light novel series, Eisen Flugel, will appear on the silver screens as a movie. It is currently unknown when it will appear in theaters. A-1 Pictures will produce the film. This announcement came at Aniplex Online Fest on Saturday.

While Urobuchi (RWBY: Ice Queendom) penned the original novels, Seiji Mizushima and Yukie Sugawara (Sword Art Online) are the ones writing the screenplay. Seiji Mizushima (Mobile Suit Gundam 00) will also be the chief director. In the original light novels, Takashi Takeuchi (Fate) provided the character designs. Keigo Sasaki (Boku dake ga Inai Machi) is in charge of adapting these designs for the Eisen Flugel movie. As for the music, Yuki Kajiura (Puella Magi Madoka Magica) will work as the composer.

Eisen Flugel is a light novel duology that came out in 2009 and is an original work from Urobuchi. In a written comment sent during the unveiling of the Eisen Flugel teaser, Urobuchi revealed that the story had always been intended to be a movie, rather than the novel it was eventually published as. The idea came from a film treatment drafted when game developer Nitro Plus was given an opportunity to pitch for a theatrical anime project. In Urobuchi's telling, the president of Nitro Plus "demanded that [he] transform their proposal into a one-cour anime project. And so [I] panicked and scrambled to add more content to the proposal." The original pitch ended up not panning out, and some time later Urobuchi reworked the pitch into the two-volume novel that was eventually published under Shogakukan's Gagaga Bunko imprint. "And so, after nearly twenty years," Urobuchi said, "Eisen Flugel can finally become the feature film it was always destined to be."

The story takes place during a time when dragons still ruled the skies. However, people with artificial wings challenged these dragons to duels in order to claim ownership of the sky. The story follows Karl Schunitz, the test pilot for the Blitz Vogel (the world's first plane with a jet engine), in his challenge against the Kaiser Drache. The Kaiser Drache is a dragon said to have glowing wings and can travel at the speed of light. But even researchers debate its existence.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Confirmed to Include Shibuya Incident Arc

Toho Animation announced that season 2 of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime will include the Shibuya Incident Arc. The announcement appeared as part of the Toho Animation 10th-anniversary live broadcast and featured the voice actors of Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki. Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will release in two back-to-back cours starting in 2023.

Following the release of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, the second season will feature two major arcs from the original manga series. The Star Plasma Vessel Arc, also known as the Gojo's Past Arc, will follow Satoru Gojo and his fellow classmates over a decade prior to the events of the first season. The Shibuya Incident Arc will pick up directly after the events of the first season, and feature the main cast as they face off against foes in Shibuya.

A new teaser visual appeared during the event and includes Gojo, Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara on a train. The train, noticeably abandoned, has arrived at Shibuya station. Notably, the new teaser visual is complementary to a previously-released teaser image for the Star Plasma Vessel Arc. Put together, the two teasers create an image of current Satoru Gojo and past Suguru Geto about to shake hands.

Furthermore, Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will air in two separate cours, similar to Spy x Family's first season. In anime, a "cour" typically includes around 14 episodes. The term is often used interchangeably with "season". However, unlike Spy x Family and the upcoming Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War, Toho Animation confirmed that the two cours will air back-to-back. This likely means that there will be little to no waiting time between each cour. For reference, the previous season featured a total of 24 episodes.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will air sometime in 2023.

Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia Info Revealed in Reddit AMA

Hiroki Ishii, Akifumi Kaneko, and Matsuzo Machida have given some more information on Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia via a Reddit AMA. Hiroki Ishii and Akifumi Kaneko are both creators of the Wild Arms series who are now working on Armed Fantasia. Meanwhile, Matsuzo Machida created the Shadow Hearts series and is now working on Penny Blood.

According to the AMA, Armed Fantasia's play time will be around 30 to 40 hours. Incidentally, this was the play time for the first Wild Arms game. There are no plans for an Armed Fantasia sequel. As well, the setting will feel like a combination of Wild Arms 2 and 3. There will be vehicles, which includes a convertible. Lastly, a major theme for Armed Fantasia is "meeting new allies and the bonds you create between those people." The most recent update for the game revealed six party members, who will come and go as the story progresses.

Machida also offered some information on Penny Blood during the Reddit AMA. Like Armed Fantasia, it will have a playtime of around 30-40 hours. Depending on the reception, Machida would like to make a sequel to the game. There will also be a queer party member, as well as a 3D camera. All of the characters in the party will have their own elemental affinity, and the elements in the game will be the same as the ones in Shadow Hearts. Because publishers did not let the original Shadow Hearts team put in too much grotesque imagery or lean into horror, Penny Blood (as an indie title) will emphasize them and the story will be aimed towards adults. However, there will be comedic elements as well. Finally, while the bestiary will have flavor text, there will be no side stories.

Though this was not during the Reddit AMA, Machida also revealed the design of Baby Cthulhu. The Call of Baby Cthulhu mechanic was one of the stretch goals for Penny Blood. Baby Cthulhu is the game's mascot character. You will be able to feed it the blood and flesh of monsters, and its maturity will affect if you get the 'good' ending or not.

Armed Fantasia and Penny Blood's Kickstarter will close this week on September 30, 2022, and both of them reached their initial goal within the first few days. As of the time of writing, backers have pledged a total of $2,310,529 CAD into both games.

Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia are both in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. Penny Blood will come out in Spring 2025.
