Wild Hearts review in progress – a false start

As a diehard Monster Hunter fan, I want to give Wild Hearts more of a chance. It's a gorgeous-looking action game in which you can fight gargantuan behemoths with some ridiculously powerful and, at times, unorthodox weapons. The monsters' savage attacks require you to use the game's unique Karakuri system to defend yourself. It's got a lot of potential, and I wish I liked it so much more, but unfortunately, constant performance issues make those fights feel like trudging through a boggy swamp when they should be snappy and action-packed.

This is a massive shame because, in premise, what I've played of Wild Hearts so far feels as fresh as my first time playing Monster Hunter World. You take on the role of a nameless hunter who arrives in the Azuma region only to fall in battle against an icy wolf, one of the many Wild Hearts monsters, or 'Kemono'. As your hunter lays dying, a masked man seems to put something inside of them, enabling them to use long-forgotten Karakuri - ancient technology that hunters from years gone by utilised to control the beasts.

What are the best crafting games on PC? It's easy to mix these up with building games as they both involve an element of construction. The critical difference here, though, is that the best crafting games are all about making things like weapons or tools to help you survive in a harsh world, or thrive in a charming one.

     The best Minecraft seeds 2023

The best Minecraft seeds cater to a number of requirements, like strongholds near villages for speedrunning, beautiful landscapes for building, or multiple structures for looting. These seeds are codes that Minecraft uses to generate worlds for you, so even though new worlds are randomly generated, you can rebuild in the same ones over and over again.

Of course you can leave your world generation completely up to fate, but if you're unlucky, you could spend hours looking for a Minecraft ancient city, desert temples, your favourite Minecraft biomes, and other desirable features. Over a decade on, Minecraft remains one of the best PC games around, so you don't want to waste time on a bad seed, you'd much rather spawn straight into a stunning landscape with a Minecraft village to get the best experience possible. So, here are just a few of the best Minecraft seeds for February 2023. Keep reading to the bottom if you need some help entering these seeds in-game.

VPN servers – who has the most?

If you're looking for a VPN and you want to know which service gives you the broadest selection of VPN servers, you've come to the right place. This will understandably be a top consideration when determining which provider you want to use, because a vast server array comes with a lot of benefits.

If you go for an option that has a lot of VPN servers, you reduce the risk of congestion, which can result in slower speeds due to so many users using the same server. Additionally, you increase the chances of finding a server that's compatible with any website or online service you might want to use, and potentially increase the number of countries you can connect through oo.

We've picked out six VPN providers that have the broadest selection of servers, and we've listed both the total number of servers for each one, and the total number of countries in which these servers are located. For added convenience, we've provided mini overviews that will let you know which is the fastest VPN, the best gaming VPN, or whatever else it is that makes each one special.

Genshin Impact Traveler

Fans hoping to have Aether or Lumine grace their shelves may have to wait a while longer. The Kotobukiya-produced Genshin Impact Traveler figures have been delayed. An announcement from Kotobukiya delivered on February 20th noted that the figures, which were originally scheduled for April 2023 delivery, will instead ship out in May 2023. Kotobukiya did not specify a reason for the postponement. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

The Genshin Impact Traveler figures were originally announced back in July of 2022. There are two figures, each sold separately. The figures are based on Aether and Lumine (or Sora and Hotaru, as they're known in Japanese). They're made to 1/7th scale, with the Aether figure measuring 270 mm tall (about 10.6 inches) and the Lumine figure measuring 255 mm tall (about 10 inches). The figures are both sculpted to replicate their respective outfits. Aether wears his trademark pants, shirt, and a scarf that merges into a flowing two-tailed cape. Lumine's white dress is also sculpted with attention paid to its multiple layers and accoutrement. Both are armed with swords and stand on a base meant to look like the grassy fields of Mondstadt, the game's starting area.

Both figures cost 18,480 Yen each (about $138 USD). Here's a closer look at them.

[gallery columns="5" size="medium" link="file" ids="952142,952143,952144,952145,952147" orderby="rand"]

In its announcement, Kotobukiya apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused. Kotobukiya didn't go into details about the delay to the Genshin Impact Traveler figures, other than citing "various circumstances." It asked for fans' patience and understanding.

The Genshin Impact Lumine and Aether figures will ship in May 2023. Orders are available via online stores like AmiAmi.

Nintendo Switch update

Nintendo released a small update for the Nintendo Switch operating system on February 20, 2023. The new Nintendo Switch update brings the console's firmware up to version 16.0.0. Nintendo also posted patch notes for the version 16.0.0 update on its support website.

The Nintendo Switch update to version 16.0.0 will install automatically when a Switch owner connects to Nintendo's servers. For example, attempting to load the eShop, download a game, or play while online. Typically, the Switch will prevent a user from loading the eShop or using online play until the console's been updated to the latest compatible version.

As for what the update actually does, Nintendo's patch notes are fairly vague. The notes refer only to "system stability improvements". However, the update does refer to the following note:

User nicknames that cannot be used will be replaced with "???" which can be updated from the profile settings.

Thus, if a user finds that their user nickname has been rendered unusable, it will be blocked out and need updating via the profile settings menu. Dataminers, such as Dolphin Emulator developer OatmealDome, dug into the update's files and uncovered information suggesting that adjustments have been made to the Nintendo Switch firmware process for checking if a user's nickname incorporates prohibited words, such as profanity or slurs.

According to a tweet by OatmealDome, some new words were added to the database to cover things like "sexually charged language, drug-related terms, words related to grooming, swears, etc." As such, players who have such constructions in their user nicknames, by intent or by accident, may need to rename themselves.

The version 16.0.0 Nintendo Switch firmware update is immediately available on all console models. Previous updates, such as version 14.0.0, added features like game folders.

Level-5 Vision 2023

Publisher/Developer Level-5 delivered a number of new project announcements this year, and its next big event will have more information about them. The Level-5 Vision 2023 livestream event is scheduled for early March 2023. It'll stream on March 9, 2023 at 3am PT/6am ET/8pm JST, via Level-5's official YouTube channel. Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be among the games appearing.

Though the company hasn't detailed exactly what it plans to reveal, the event will feature new details about recently announced games like Professor Layton and the New World of SteamFantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, and Deca PoliceAll three games were announced during the February 8, 2023 Nintendo Direct broadcast. Additionally, the Level-5 Vision 2023 event will bring more info on the previously announced Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road and Megaton Musashi Wired.

Of the featured games in Level-5's event docket, two notable pieces of info can be gleaned. First is that Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is the official English title for the game. The Japanese title translates to Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road of Heroes. This suggests that Level-5 intends an international release for the game.

A second new bit of info is the existence of Megaton Musashi Wired (or Megaton Musashi W). The game appears to be a new entry in the series (or perhaps an updated release), and includes an English-formatted logo and design. As with Inazuma Eleven, the changes suggest international release plans. At the moment the Megaton Musashi franchise, both its anime series and the Megaton Musashi X game, are Japan-exclusive.

The Level-5 Vision 2023 streaming event launches on March 9, 2023 at 3am PT/6am ET/8pm JST on YouTube.
