Company of Heroes 3 beginner tips and tricks

Need some Company of Heroes 3 tips? It's been quite a while since we had a new Company of Heroes game, and so the launch of Company of Heroes 3 may mean it's time to re-learn some basic skills and RTS game know-how that's grown rusty since Ardennes Assault.

The main single-player component of Company of Heroes 3 is really two RTS games: there are the real-time tactics battles you'll be fighting against the German Werhmact, and there's the high-level campaign map that tracks your progress through the campaign. By advancing your forces across Italy in the campaign map, you'll unlock new missions, resources, and skills for your soldiers. If you're about to head into the wilds of Italy and feel a bit bowled over by everything Relic's new strategy game is throwing at you, we've got some Company of Heroes 3 beginner tips and tricks assembled to make your journey to Rome a bit smoother.

Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League release date, gameplay, trailers

Excited about the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release date? Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the follow-up to Rocksteady's iconic Batman: Arkham series. Promising a roster of heroes gone bad, intriguing cooperative combat, and plenty of self-aware, irreverent humour, there's a lot to be excited about.

Set in a chaos-covered Metropolis, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League flips the script on who's good and evil in the DC universe. For a twist on the usual superhero game format, instead, we're tasked with bringing down the corrupt versions of the iconic heroes from the Justice League. It seems the only group capable and vaguely willing to stop them is a new ragtag Suicide Squad, assembled by the ruthless Amanda Waller. After the brilliant Arkham series, we're expecting big things from what could be one of the best PC games of the year.      How long is Atomic Heart – length and time to beat

Exactly how long is Atomic Heart? Mundfish's absurdist shooter features a robot uprising like no other. Taking its inspiration from Bioshock and Far Cry, Atomic Heart drops you into Facility 3826, a top-secret military base under hostile takeover from the servile robots manufactured within. But exactly how long can we expect to fend off waves of drones and companion bots before order is finally restored?

As with most open-world games, Atomic Heart's total playtime varies wildly depending on how you approach it. Are you dead set on barrelling through the story with the single-minded determination of Atomic Heart protagonist Major P-3? Or are you intent on combing every inch of Facility 3826 to unearth the political machinations of its founder? Either way, here's how many hours you can expect to clock in during your first playthrough of Atomic Heart.

Atomic Heart bosses – every boss fight and how to beat them

If the Atomic Heart bosses have got you ill at ease, we don't blame you. Thankfully, Facility 3826 offers plenty of weapons to help you defeat them, but doing so won't be a walk in the park.

While there are plenty of fearsome foes in the retrofuturistic FPS game, Atomic Heart bosses are a cut above the rest.      Best fighting games on PC 2023

What are the best fighting games on PC? It may be one of the oldest genres in gaming, but it wasn't until unintentional glitches gave birth to combos in Street Fighter 2 that the first boom took hold in arcades during the 90s. It's here that the key players would make their presence known. While charming hand-drawn sprites feature heavily in Street Fighter and The King of Fighters series, Midway would make parents everywhere panic with Mortal Kombat's fatalities. Soon after, developers leaped into 3D with Virtua Fighter and Tekken.

Thanks to the rise of esports and, to a lesser extent, the global pandemic, we now have access to PC versions of the best fighting games. While these are some of the best PC games, they are known to be tough to learn. Still, with the rise of video tutorials, there's never been a better time to get into these highly competitive multiplayer games. Grab the controller or fight stick of your choice and practice your favourite character's combos.

Even after a decade marked by the abandonware crowd being proven right, there are old games that remain lost between the cracks of digital distribution. Instead of waxing lyrical about that though, I'm here today with good news: My favourite open world 3D spaceflight/trading sim Hardwar is back.

It's been back for over a year, in fact, via Zoom Platform, who've just made the interesting choice to publish it on Steam too, promising that their own store will remain resolutely DRM-free, and that this aims "to help fund additional signings and improvements for our DRM-Free preservation efforts". I'll brush aside analysing this strategy, because the immediate upshot is that, hopefully, Hardwar might finally get its due. In a better world, we'd already be playing its modern descendants.

How to Pay Haruka's Debt in Like a Dragon: Ishin

Once you get to Like a Dragon: Ishin chapter 4, you automatically unlock the second home as you progress through this story. This also means becoming an "uncle" to the orphaned Haruka. Which, in turn, means doing everything possible to ensure she doesn't lose her home and continues running her family's farming business. However, paying Haruka's debt in Like a Dragon: Ishin might not be completely obvious immediately, as the game doesn't note how to trigger the letters from the landlord that allow you to start repaying the 100 Ryo debt.

In order to repay Haruka's debt, you'll need to do so in 20 Ryo increments. I found I didn't start getting letters saying the first, second, third, fourth, or fifth payments are due at your second home until I started earning money via Trade Orders at the farm. These are the orders for things like crops, fish, and prepared food. As you engage with this system, you'll sometimes see a courier appear with letters letting you know you can pay the landlord in Fushimi.

How to Pay Haruka's Debt in Like a Dragon: Ishin

Paying the landlord is easy. Once you come back from your second home, head to the northeast corner of Fushimi. The landlord will be standing at the shrine I've circled in the screenshot above. It is just north of the Komaki's Dojo and Teradaya. You'll also get kimono for Haruka to wear for doing so.

While I noticed I didn't get the requests for payment until I started fulfilling Trade Orders, you don't need to only use money from those to pay the debt. You can get them from tending the farm and cooking, or you could earn it by fighting enemies, playing minigames, or completing Battle Dungeons. As long as you get 100 Ryo via some method, you're good. Also, don't worry about trying to pay it all off as soon as possible or before reaching a certain chapter, as the landlord is surprisingly patient. There's no time limit.

Like a Dragon: Ishin is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Agnea and Hikari Star in Octopath Traveler 2 Character Countdown Art

The latest Octopath Traveler 2 countdown pieces of art are here, and each one focuses on major characters from the cast. Rather than pairing them up with folks from the original game, this lets them stand on their own. Each one offers a better look at Octopath Traveler 2's Agnea and Hikari.

First, here's the Octopath Traveler 2 Hikari piece that appeared on February 20, 2023. Tsukimi, from the Acquire team, drew it. It features the Warrior about to draw his sword. It also offers a detailed look at his outfit.

The Octopath Traveler 2 character of the day for February 21, 2023 is Agnea. She's this installment's dancer. Again, a member of Acquire's team named Ineko drew her. She looks to be mid-dance for the picture.

As the game launches on February 24, 2023, there aren't too many days worth of art left. In the past, the pieces covered both the original Octopath Traveler characters and newcomers from Octopath Traveler 2. For example, Ochette the hunter, Temenos the cleric, Osvald the scholar, and Castti the apothecary came up.

Octopath Traveler 2 will be available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC on February 24, 2023. A demo is available.

In 2022 Sega revealed sets of LINE stickers and SoniKoro merchandise to promote the launch of Sonic Frontiers.

Fans in Japan can join the Lucky Kuji Sonic x Korone 2023 lottery by clicking on this link. Those with an account can then pay to roll on a virtual lottery for prizes, which range from canvas prints and wall scrolls of Korone in her "Hedge-dog" outfit cuddling a Sonic plush to tote bags, standees, and buttons.

The main prizes in the SoniKoro 2023 prize list are large canvas prints featuring the full illustration. The prints can be hung on walls and measure 27 x 22 cm (about 10.2 x 8.5 inches).

Other prizes include B2-sized wall scrolls of the same illustrations. The Sonic x Korone 2023 Lucky Kuji merchandise is available online via Sega's lottery system in Japan.

Chrono Cross Patch Framerate Changes Brings It Up to 60FPS

At the end of February 2023, Square Enix announced a Chrono Cross patch. It noted that, once applied, it would do things like fix bugs and adjust Pip's evolutionary process. However, the game's performance also came up. Now that the patch is live on February 22, 2023, the company confirmed the Chrono Cross update brings the framerate up to 60FPS.

The official update did note some stipulations for the Chrono Cross framerate, noting it might not always be 60FPS. It noted that depending on the person's PC, it might not hit that. It also did note that in battle, it will only get up to 30FPS.

Here are the official 1.0.1.0. patch notes for the Chrono Cross update from Steam. It doesn't go into detail regarding the Pip adjustments.
Update Content

  • Framerate improvements
  • Changes to the growth system for Pip
  • Other minor bug fixes

The framerate was a common issue in Chrono Cross, in particular for the PC version, with people doing things like making mods or using the Special K tool to reach 60FPS.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and its new patch is available now. It originally appeared on the PlayStation.

Her and her old and new allies gather together to learn the truth and explore this new area. This all plays out while "Travelers," the ending theme song by Yorushika's suis, plays.

However, strange people want him dead, and he finds himself enrolled at the Easton Magic Academy, aiming to become a "Divine Visionary," an elite magician. Earn the FFXIV Little Ladies' Dance Emote During Little Ladies' Day 2023

Once again, a Little Ladies' Day event will run in FFXIV, and the 2023 iteration adds a new dance emote. It is one of three rewards people can earn by taking part in the event. Starting on March 1, 2023, players can take part to collect it and other decorative items. The official page for the activity is live ahead of its debut.

People get about two weeks to complete the event. To start, you'll need to be at level 15. If you are, then you can meet with the Royal Seneschal Lalafell. Stopping by X:10.5, Y:8.6 in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald lets you kick off the Inheritance quest.

You'll get three things for taking part in FFXIV's Little Ladies' Day 2023, with the Little Ladies' Dance emote being the most notable. The emote makes a person's avatar perform a little dance with a fan. People can also get a Lovely Little Ladies' Day Advertisement wall-mounted decoration for their home. You also can get the "Decisions" Orchestrion Roll, adding a new track to your music library.

Here's a closer look at the items.
[gallery columns="1" size="full" ids="952330" link="file"]

For the 2022 event, people could earn a Little Lady's Crown miniature crown for their avatar to wear. As usual, past items can be bought this year from an NPC.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. This year, Little Ladies' Day will run March 1-15, 2023 in FFXIV.

Atelier Ryza 3 Preview

Atelier is a long-running series of JRPGs focused on alchemy, typically featuring a young alchemist looking to get their start in the world and hone their craft. Atelier Ryza 3, the twenty-fourth entry in the series to date, is no different. As the third entry of the Ryza subseries, it features its titular protagonist facing the call to adventure once more following the sudden appearance of a mysterious group of islands. As I found firsthand, Atelier Ryza 3's early hours show a game full of charm, a complex crafting system and an idyllic world to play around in.

The game wastes no time throwing you into the adventure. At the start of the game, we see Ryza out on the beach where she gets thrown into battle, prompting a tutorial on the game's combat system. It's a snappy introduction, which is great for anyone looking to start their new adventure right away, but had its problems for me as a newcomer. Characters often wandered in casually without introducing themselves, referring to past events without much context. Naturally, it will not be much of an issue for established fans of the series, but it worth noting that it is perhaps not the best entry to jump into for those coming in for the first time.

Starting with combat is a strange choice, however, as much of the gameplay loop that immediately follows doesn't focus on it at all. Instead, it emphasizes the series' main draw – alchemy. This means a bunch of fetch quests during which Ryza gathers materials and crafts items with them based on people's needs.

Atelier Ryza 3 Crafting System

What's impressive is just how in-depth the crafting system is. This isn't the standard "find these specific items, then press a button to combine them" one seen in other games. In Atelier Ryza 3, the materials each have their own attributes that affect the quality of the items you're crafting. Rather than picking up four identical planks of wood, you've picked up two low quality planks, a high-quality plank, and a medium quality one which makes any axe made with it hit harder.

How you use these ingredients affects a lot in the end product, which means meticulous sifting through your inventory to find the best materials for your purposes. It was kind of overwhelming at first, but there's a sense that the system allows a high level of customization once you get down into the intricacies of it.

This focus on crafting also makes Atelier Ryza 3 feel more like a life-sim like Animal Crossing than a standard JRPG. So much of my time with the game was spent foraging for items and crafting the perfect gardening equipment for people around me, and it ended up being a relaxing time.

Atelier Ryza 3 Visuals

This relaxed feeling was helped by how gorgeous the game is in these opening hours. The Kurken area I played through is full of idyllic villages and seaside views that are a real treat for the eyes. The game's visuals are cozy and idyllic, the perfect place to lose yourself in imagining the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. Admittedly, this is just one area and future parts of the game could be less visually enticing, but it's a strong start.

There were a few issues however. Combat felt a little repetitive, the atelier being in an out-of-the-way location made it frustrating to frequently return to, and the PC version's quit option was not easy to find, as it's exclusively next to the atelier. However, these are all things that could see improvements in the final game if we see additional combat mechanics and possibly additional hideouts brought in as the game progresses.

Atelier Ryza 3 is full of charm so far. Despite my confusion as a newcomer, I found a lot to enjoy with my time with it. With the cozy vibes, the intricate crafting system and gorgeous visuals, this should hopefully shape up to be a great new entry for long-time fans too.

Altelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End and the Secret Key releases on March 24th 2023 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land is back 12 years after its Wii debut. And this time it's "Deluxe!" What does that mean? Well, in this case it involves leaning further into the original game's family-friendly fare. Aside from design changes to ensure appearances are consistent, this feels like stopgap that satisfies Nintendo's desire to give people a multiplayer game in early 2023, as well as a new, more traditional Kirby adventure after Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Kirby's got a new friend, and he's decided to drop in. Literally, as Magolor's Lor Starcutter crashed onto Popstar, losing Energy Spheres and equipment alike. He needs to get home, so it falls to Kirby (and if you have friends locally, Bandana Waddle Dee, King Dedede, and Meta Knight) to find the missing parts to help Magolor on his way.

Review: Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe Leans into Multiplayer Experiences

What follows is an incredibly traditional Kirby installment. Kirby and his friends go through eight areas, referred to as levels, with different themes like Cookie Country, Nutty Noon, and Egg Engines. When playing as Kirby himself, the puffball can inhale and steal Copy Abilities from certain enemies, granting him 26 total options. Some of these can even become Super Abilities, allowing Kirby to wipe out large swaths of enemies and decimate terrain to reach certain special areas and acquire extra Energy Spheres. Leaf, Spear, Water, and Whip debuted as Copy Abilities the first time around, and this time Festival, Mecha, and Sand join them. Each one is serviceable and useful in its own situations, though I sometimes found Sand so similar to Leaf that it didn't feel all that distinct or necessary. If someone is on-hand locally, they can join you in the adventure as Bandana Waddle Dee, King Dedede, or Meta Knight. However, given the relative ease of the game, it isn't too challenging going on this journey alone.

Even if you don't have someone immediately on-hand, you don't need to be alone. Magolor Helper is a new, optional feature that adds the character as something of a guardian angel. When enabled, Magolor will show up if the situation gets dire. This could mean healing Kirby if he takes too many hits while traversing a stage or facing a boss. He can also float in to lift him out of a pit if he falls into one. It's not quite the Funky Kong equivalent from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, but rather bears more in common with the Assist Blocks from recent Super Mario games. It also feels like a marked nod toward accessibility and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe being a game for beginners or newcomers.

Review: Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe Leans into Multiplayer Experiences

So too is the new Merry Magoland mode. This essentially adds a party minigame element to Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, housing ten subgames in a single space. Each of these minigames, which include returning classics like Egg Catcher and Samurai Kirby, allows up to four people to take part in between three and four difficulty levels. A Magoland Tour option lets you go through a number in succession, with the winner being the one with the most points. Masks can be earned, to customize characters in this multiplayer mode and main campaign. The best minigame, Samurai Kirby, also appears in a Samurai Kirby 100 mode that lets you compete online once per day to see how your reaction time fares against 100 other players.

It's fine, but it points out an inherent weakness in Kirby series subgames. These aren't extensive, lengthy minigames meant to be played for substantial periods of time. the new Checkerboard Chase and Magolor's Tome Trackers attempt to remedy that, and things like Smash Ride and Booming Blasters attempt to impart a more competitive edge. But many of these are designed to be over and done in a matter of moments, which doesn't lend itself well to a party atmosphere. In particular, Crackity Hack and Samurai Kirby both feel out of place due to their reliance on quickly demonstrating reflexes in the briefest possible way.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8IEH1WiW74

The thing about Kirby's Return to Dream Land is that it ended up followed by some truly exceptional installments. Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby: Planet Robobot are fantastic platformers, and Star Allies offered a different, fresh take on an installment heavy on multiplayer features. There's still some great level design here, to be clear! But even with the Magolor Epilogue and implementation of the Festival, Mecha, and Sand abilities, it doesn't result in any substantial changes. The newly added Magolor Epilogue can offer some additional insight into the character and a bit more thought, since you need to plot out upgrades. It can come across as a bit more of a challenge than the original game, due to your limitations, which is appreciated.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land, at the time, felt like a poignant throwback after installments like Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. Now in 2023, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe's revival results in an entry that feels like a more introductory experience to be enjoyed with a small group of newcomers to the series. It fits in with the idea of the early days of the Switch's lifespan, what with the promises of rooftop parties with the system placed in Tabletop Mode for multiple people to enjoy. It's not the best Kirby installment to play in 2023, but it still feels like there's a place for it in our gaming lives.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe will come to the Nintendo Switch on February 24, 2023. A demo is also available.

This Nintendo 3DS title came out in September 2015 in North America and Europe. With 3DS digital purchases going away in late March 2023, you have a bit more time to look into the demo and see if the game is worth adding to your gaming collection.

Miku Flick is a simplified version of the franchise given its use of smaller screens and touchscreen gameplay. A sequel eventually came out months later, released worldwide in August 2012. Miku Flick and its sequel are no longer listed in the App Store and Google Play Store. Despite this, gameplay footage still exists on YouTube.

Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live PS exclusive
