PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 1:15 PM The best Hogwarts Legacy talents improve your character in the open-world RPG, give you a better chance of succeeding at school, and thwarting whatever menace that may be in your way. The wizarding game has many avenues of improvement, from upgrading your abilities to acquiring new equipment and improving your Talents. Character growth is one of the primary aspects of an RPG game - going on a journey with your creation, not only from a story perspective but your abilities too. But how do you unlock talents, how do they improve Hogwarts Legacy spells and potions to make your character more powerful, and which ones are the best? PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 1:09 PM The Hogwarts Legacy Mandrake is just as you would expect if you're familiar with the lore of the wizarding world - or the real plant's muggle world properties. An iconic plant baby with an ear-splitting shriek, the Mandrake is needed to complete assignments set by Herbology Professor Garlick, but can also be used in combative defence. But how do you get one, or where do you find a Mandrake? Much the same as other plants and fruits in Hogwarts Legacy, the Mandrake can be grown in the Room of Requirement, so you can always have one ready when you need them. Unlike other natural resources, though, the Mandrake isn't used in Hogwarts Legacy potions - that would be cruel - and can be equipped to your potion wheel itself and taken into battle, where its mind-blowing scream can be used to disarm opponents in the action-adventure game. If that's a weapon you'd like in your magical arsenal, here's how to get your own Hogwarts Legacy Mandrake. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 1:02 PM Acquiring a Hogwarts Legacy large pot and its potting table are crucial to growing some of the most important plants, or potion ingredients, in the wizard game, as you'll need to match the plant size to the pot you grow it in. You can grow all sorts of plants in the Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement, and they will yield some unique and interesting potion ingredients. As usual to you as Hogwarts Legacy spells, your potions can turn you invisible, heal you, reduce spell cooldowns, and other useful traits, so you definitely need to know how to farm the ingredients. While you can buy ready-grown plants from The Magic Neep and Dogweed and Deathcap shops, it's much cheaper and more fruitful to grow them yourself, so here's how to get a potting table with a large pot in Hogwarts Legacy. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 12:32 PM Want to know how to get the Hogwarts Legacy Cursed Tomb treasure? As one of the side quests requiring you to enter a secret dungeon, this is a gauntlet of puzzles and fights against nefarious villains, culminating in a cryptic puzzle that has you galavanting across the Scottish Highlands for your prize. In a very similar fashion to the Hogwarts Legacy Solved by the Bell side quest, you need to grab a map to reveal a cryptic puzzle. You must search across the Hogwarts Legacy map to get it, but thankfully we have its location for you. To start this RPG game's side quest, you need to reach level 24, complete the main story quest, 'The Helm of Urtkot', and grab as many Hogwarts Legacy Demiguise Statues as you need to advance your ability to unlock doors and chests with Alohomora level three. You also need Flipendo, but more on that later. Then, from the Manor Cape Floo Flame, head to the manor on top of the hill and descend the stairs inside its ruins. Unlock the level three lock to enter the dungeon and start the Hogwarts Legacy Cursed Tomb treasure side quest. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 12:27 PM You're likely here because you want to know if there's a Hogwarts Legacy respec mechanic available in the wizard game. After all, we all make mistakes and want a chance to reallocate points without losing any progress. It's a common feature in a lot of open-world RPG games, and would help budding witches and wizards nicely. Some of you may be asking what advantages you get if you respec in Hogwarts Legacy. Well, it's all to do with the Hogwarts Legacy talents, as allocating points to each one is a permanent action. Since there are fewer talent points than talents available in the entirety of the RPG game, you may find that you're one talent point short of upgrading your entire Hogwarts Legacy spells list, or you opted to learn the Hogwarts Legacy unforgivable curses far later on but wish to upgrade their capabilites. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 12:17 PM Are you on the hunt for Hogwarts Legacy troll bogeys? There aren't many enemies as fearsome and dangerous as the troll in Hogwarts Legacy, and for good reason. Not only can trolls deplete your health pool in a single attack, but they're also incredibly sturdy as they have thousands of health points compared to other minions. If you're extremely unlucky, you may have to fight against multiple enemies at once, making troll battles very difficult. You'll want to avoid encounters with trolls unless you're after precious troll bogeys to brew your own Hogwarts Legacy potions. You may also need to complete Professor Onai's assignment which requires you to collect troll bogeys, forcing you to defeat a troll in the wild. Getting into a fight with a troll in Hogwarts Legacy is a guaranteed way to collect some viscous mucus, so we've highlighted locations in the open-world game where you can find troll bogeys. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 12:14 PM You need the Hogwarts Legacy Black family motto to complete a main story quest, 'The Polyjuice Plot', where you masquerade as Hogwarts headmaster Professor Black. Those familiar with Polyjuice potions from the Harry Potter books will know that while this elixir does turn a person into a copy of the person they think of, it doesn't give them their memories. So naturally, you'll have to do some detective work to find out what the Hogwarts Legacy Black family motto is. Thankfully, even though this is one of the later Hogwarts Legacy quests, available after 'The Headmistress Speaks', the mystery behind the motto itself isn't all that hard to remember if you recall one key detail about the Black family. Even if you get it incorrect, you won't be penalised. However, if you just want to get the open-world game's quest over and to learn how to get into the headmaster's office as quickly as possible, here is the Black family motto. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 12:08 PM The Hogwarts Legacy Ghost of Our Love quest can be incredibly confusing, especially if you aren't keeping track of your side quests. The treasure map with the floating candles can be acquired after 'The Hunt for the Missing Pages' quest without the player realising what they've just picked up. Fortunately, we're going to explain exactly what's going on, show you what you're looking for, and how to solve this mystery. Once you have the Hogwarts Legacy treasure map in your inventory, you will unlock the Ghost of Our Love quest. The map shows a drawing of the Forbidden Forest with an additional drawing of a bridge and some floating candles. You do need access to Lumos - one of the Hogwarts Legacy spells - to continue the quest, but there's a good chance you have it by the time you've reached this point in the RPG game. However, a select few of these mysteries count towards one of the game's challenges. It's worth noting that you won't be able to solve all of the Hogwarts Legacy secrets until quite late into the game. This one stumped us for quite some time before we got the logic behind it, as it's not immediately obvious what you're supposed to do to open it. Instead, you find this door next to some pillars and a pedestal where you can place the Moonstone. While it's evident that moving the lamps requires one of the more basic Hogwarts Legacy spells - Accio - it's not clear what the solution you're looking for is for this most fiendish of open-world game puzzles. One of the objects you'll certainly run into during your time with the RPG game are eyeball chests, or chests with eyes. Each one of these chests holds 500 Galleons - and is a great way to make money in Hogwarts Legacy - which is enough to buy several Hogwarts Legacy potions, plants and seeds from Dogweed and Deathcap, and much more around Hogsmeade. But does it exist yet? Hogwarts is a school, it's where you forge the greatest of friendships, so of course it would be a logical assumption that Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer would be available in the massive open-world game. You could attend classes with friends, no matter which house you belong to and which of the Hogwarts Legacy common rooms you call home, have someone to talk to as you traverse the massive Hogwarts Legacy map, and test out some of the kinder and funnier Hogwarts Legacy spells on each other. It's always tough to pin down just how long it will take someone to beat an open-world game. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 12:00 PM Knowing how to get the shovel in Sons of the Forest is a must if you want to dig up precious items you need to survive, such as the all-important keycards. The shovel is an essential tool for the Sons of the Forest's all-new digging mechanic, so whether you've played The Forest or not, ploughing through dirt for treasure will be a new experience. In order to be sure you're not missing too much as you explore Sons of the Forest, you should make the trek to the shovel location as early as possible. You can only find it inside a specific cave on the Sons of the Forest map, so it could take you a while to find this new item in the survival game unless you know where to look. You'll also need to have obtained the Sons of the Forest rebreather and rope gun first, so once you have that, here's the Sons of the Forest shovel location you need to head towards. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 11:44 AM Can Kelvin die in Sons of the Forest? That's the question you probably ask yourself if you decide to help him and dust off the debris from your concussed companion. His ear is dribbling with blood, and his spaced look indicates that he's disorientated and possibly now deaf. However, all is not lost as you can get him to follow instructions written on paper and forcefully thrust onto his chest. There are advantages to keeping Kelvin alive in the survival game, and morally speaking, it's probably the best decision to do so. Kelvin is not the only companion who can accompany you in Sons of the Forest, either; you can also recruit Virginia to help you survive the cannibal-infested island, though you'll need a more delicate approach. PCGamesN Monday, February 27, 2023 11:09 AM Knowing whether to steal the Hogwarts Legacy Fwooper feather for Garreth in Potions class is a tricky one because, on one hand, you want to give a good first impression to Professor Sharp as the new fifth-year student. On the other hand, Garreth's "spectacular" potion is sure to be excellent, and you want to make friends and allies during your time at Hogwarts. This isn't the only decision you'll need to make in Hogwarts Legacy, but it is one of the earliest, and Garreth does make a good case for himself in the RPG game. It's fairly simple to steal the feather - all you need to do is pick it up when you enter Sharp's office, alongside the ingredients you're actually in there for - but will you get in trouble? This analysis and settings guide, then, is brought to you the ragged nerves of someone that's spent several hours being screamed at by camouflaged cannibals, having only survived long enough to hear them by consuming several tins of cat food. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, February 27, 2023 11:02 AM Oh no, poor Kerbal Space Program 2. The extremely anticipated sequel to everyone's favourite rocket-building space exploration game is a hot mess. A list of bugs longer than a Saturn V reads like a terrible medical diagnosis: quivering periapsis, unpredictable methane leakage, late-stage separation anxiety, loose payloads, non-stop burning, and sensitive nodes. The developers, smiling bravely in circumstances presumably beyond their control, describe the launch as like dropping a kid off for their first day at school. Well the kid forgot their lunchbox, their uniform, their books and their pencil case. They showed up at the wrong school, on a Saturday during half-term. If you were stranded on a desert island and had to recreate Kerbal Space Program from memory using nothing but coconuts and string, it would look something like Kerbal Space Program 2. The game is nowhere approaching finished, it barely resembles the promotional videos, and it isn't ready, even by Early Access standards. |

Siliconera Monday, February 27, 2023 3:30 PM Square Enix shared more Final Fantasy art through the official Japanese Twitter account for the game. For this new round of concept art, it is Barret's turn to show off the array of weapons available for him in FFVII Remake. His signature Gatling Gun is custom made to fight against Shinra's forces, and it has been a part of his arsenal for a long time since a particular event in his life. You can check out in more detail all six of the different weapons Barret can wield in FFVII Remake in the tweet below. https://twitter.com/FFVIIR_CLOUD/status/1630130623967797250 The other five weapons Barret can use include the Light Machine Gun, Big Bertha, Wrecking Ball, Steel Pincers, and EKG Cannon. His signature Gatling gun doesn't appear in the concept art, instead appearing as his equipped weapon in a 3D render shared by Square Enix. These concept art images also showcase the Materia slot placement and numbers available for each different weapon. Previously, Square Enix shared two detailed looks at Yuffie's updated design for Episode INTERmission. That's the extra DLC campaign for FFVII Remake available for the PS5 and PC versions of the game. Final Fantasy VII Remake is immediately available for the PS4, PS5, and Windows PC. Part 2 is currently in development for the PS5, and it is titled Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It is due out in Winter 2023. Siliconera Monday, February 27, 2023 3:00 PM Once Undertale appeared, we started to see games appear to capitalize on the interest in that sort of take on seeing how the characters we consider "monsters" might live. Developers would tell stories humanizing them or showing what happens when ordinary humans happen upon them. Meg's Monster, from Fishing Paradiso developer Odencat, is one such game. It's pleasant and never overstays its welcome, but also only really focuses on its main characters and isn't as adept at creating a vibrant world filled with memorable NPCs. Meg's Monster begins with a young woman looking back on her past. She's trying to find answers after an incident in her youth, which led her to a laboratory. Once there, she experiences a major flashback and suddenly begins to remember the time she dropped into the underworld. Yes, at one point in time, an incident at the lab where Meg's mom worked led to her falling into the monster-filled underworld beneath the planet's surface. Fortunately, when that happened, an incredibly strong and resilient monster named Roy was there. When she began to cry, due to the incredibly jarring circumstances of being separated from her parent and lost in a terrifying area, the two monsters realized that it felt as though the world was about to end. For the sake of their survival, they decide to protect the girl from the monsters who'd normally see such a kid as a snack, attempt to keep her from crying and ending it all, and seeing if they can reunite her with her mom. However, there's also a mysterious man involved, as well as a monster Council determined to keep a monster-human nonaggression pact in place. The idea of Meg's Monster is that Roy is basically indestructible and capable of beating up any monster. So there are no random battles. Only fights against major, worthy opponents appear. However, since he's unbeatable, "damage" comes from the mental damage she experiences seeing him get hurt. Said fights are relatively easy and serve more as means to further the story and briefly showcase obstacles or characters, rather than actually challenge the player. For example, in one fight right when I'd run out of the toys you use to replenish Meg's psyche so she won't cry and end the world, the opponent fell asleep. This left an easy opportunity to defeat them. Attacks are clearly telegraphed, as are moments when you can do something like perform a special action that can help with finishing a fight. Not to mention in another fight, when it seemed like Meg hit her limit, instead she found Roy getting hurt "funny" and recovered all her mental fortitude on her own. So really, it's more babysitting her, then reacting with a toy unlocked as you proceed through the story to make her happy again. It's all heavily scripted, though I did purposely fail a fight to see if it could happen. (It can, and you get an option to try again.) There are no items to really collect. The game auto-saves. You pick locations on a small map and automatically end up there, rather than traversing the underworld. Each story segment also serves to show how Roy and Meg are getting closer, as well as how monsters and humans tend to interact in this world. It works well, and the art direction means monsters do all seem quite distinct even with some minimalistic design. However, due the simplicity of Meg's Monster, there can be some issues when conveying information. Essentially, since it opts for speech bubbles, it means there can be a lot of overlap. Characters can be hidden, including ones who are a part of the conversation. Dialogue selection options can cover what someone recently said. It's not a big issue. However, since the character designs are rather nice, it's a bit frustrating when they are hidden. It also means there isn't much context or backstory presented for characters in the name of moving things along. Unless someone is a major figure, like Roy, Meg, Golan, Paul, or Gustav, they can flit in and out of the plot. This means you might see Council members coming to check in on Roy and Meg and not know who these people are or why they might matter. I'd even consider Meg's Monster trying to be a "lite" version of Undertale. There's a bit more skill to Undertale, especially if you're going for a pacifist route, but it mimics the same sort of ambiance and personality of an "underworld" area below the human world filled with monsters who can be surprisingly personable. There's a bit more gruffness in terms of the language, and it can be a bit more ominous. I wouldn't say it's as silly, and there are fewer memorable characters. However, the designs are fun and there are moments when it can be quite clever. I do wish that it gave people more changes to really connect with the larger cast and experience more side-stories. Roy, Meg, and to a lesser extent Golan are the main focuses here. There are occasional moments when a green exclamation point will appear on the map, allowing someone to pop in and briefly take part in an exchange with other NPCs. However, these tend to be quite brief and even ones with side quest elements to them, such as preparing a hamburger, don't involve too much thought or offer any reward other than talking to other monsters for a while. Meg's Monster will come to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on March 2, 2023. The post Review: Meg's Monster is a Brief Undertale-like appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Monday, February 27, 2023 2:30 PM Way back in November 2022, Square Enix announced that a free The Diofield Chronicle update would appear in March 2023. Now that it's around the corner, the company offered more details about what to expect. In addition to the Waltaquin Redditch story, there will also be three other additions to the game. New teaser art also appeared showing a dragonic opponent. Here's Square Enix's tweet going over this The Diofield Chronicle free update. It doesn't offer a March 2023 release window beyond "soon." It also notes Waltaquin's Story as the first major addition. For those who played the game, they'll understand the importance of getting this additional glimpse into what she experienced during the course of the adventure. As a Magicker, she used magic spells. As such, there will be Magic Tomes following the update.
Two of the updates won't involve the additional storyline. Currently in The Diofield Chronicle, people can choose the Casual, Normal, or Hard difficulty options. The announcement mentioned Very Hard will be available. It also noted people with a New Game+ save could choose Extra Mode. The DioField Chronicle is available on the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and its free update will arrive "soon" in March 2023. Siliconera Monday, February 27, 2023 2:00 PM Mapollo 3's manga PPPPPP ended on February 26, 2023, and the last chapter of the series is now live. It appeared in Shonen Jump, though people can already read the English version via both Viz Media and MangaPlus. The series ended up spanning 70 chapters total. Almost all of the Otagami family's septuplets are highly skilled pianists. The exception is Lucky. However, at his ill mother's request, he decides to try and become as successful as his six siblings. The series follows him as he gets serious about performing and joins Shibuya Music High. There, he becomes known for his extremely quiet style of playing. (Hence the series' title.) This also means reuniting with his siblings Don, Reijiro, Mimin, Fanta, Sorachika, and Sikato. It will still be a while before all of those chapters are organized into manga volumes. In Japan, the seventh volume is set to be released in April 2023. There tend to be nine chapters in each one. This would mean it should cover chapters 53 through 61. If so, that would make volume eight the last one, with chapters 62 through 70 inside, covering the last chapter of PPPPPP. As for the English releases, the first volume of the PPPPPP manga appeared outside Japan on January 24, 2023. The second is due on April 25, 2023. However, these are only available digitally and not physically. The post PPPPPP Manga Ends, Last Chapter Released appeared first on Siliconera. |

Siliconera Monday, February 27, 2023 1:00 PM Nintendo of Europe took to Twitter to share gameplay footage from Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon that shows how your companion Cheshire will be able to gain powers from Elemental Cores. These abilities can be used both in combat and in traversing the environment. The game was previously announced at The Game Awards 2022 and is intended to be a "more accessible title". So far, we have seen a wood-enhanced form that uses vines to pull platforms and entangle enemies. there is also a stone core that is able to be used as a bounce-pad, as well as allow Cheshire to shield Cereza from hazards. The Cheshire water form uses a stream of water as an attack and a form of propulsion. Finally, there is a Fire form that melts ice barriers and scorches enemies. Siliconera Monday, February 27, 2023 12:30 PM At Magic 2023, Hironobu Sakaguchi, the father of the Final Fantasy series, stated that he would be interested in a PC release and sequel of Fantasian. However, there is no concrete confirmation as of yet in regards to either. Sakaguchi's comment indicate an interest in continuing to expand on Fantasian. [Thanks, IGN!] The full quote from the article, translated, from Sakaguchi in regards to Fantasian is: "There are a lot of fans who want to see it on Windows, as well as lots of questions regarding a sequel. I wish to continue to do my best and work on it. ... Fantasian is a title that I still want people to experience." There is no hard commitment or promise in his statement, and it is unclear what has to happen (or what is happening) behind the scenes at Mistwalker in regards to the game. Fantasian came out in 2021 for Apple Arcade. Hironobu Sakaguchi created it and Nobuo Uematsu (also of Final Fantasy fame) was the composer. It has a unique diorama style, as well as an aiming mechanic for attacks. It focuses on an amnesiac boy named Leo in an alternate universe. There are two parts to the game and it does not feature any micro-transactions. As of the time of writing, Fantasian is only available via Apple Arcade, despite Sakaguchi's interest in a PC port. Siliconera Monday, February 27, 2023 10:30 AM Nomura Tetsuya, the original character designer for Final Fantasy X, drew new art of everyone for the kabuki stage play. As a reminder, the kabuki stage play for Final Fantasy X will run from March 4 to April 12, 2023 in Tokyo, Japan. So far we can see art of TIdus, but Nomura has drawn all of the party members in their kabuki outfits. [Thanks, Game Watch!] [gallery columns="1" ids="952884" link="file"] When you go to watch the kabuki stage play, the art of the seven party members will be projected upon a 8-meter screen. It will show up before each parts; there is an intermission before the first half and the second half of the kabuki stage play. It will also be on the pamphlet, so you can look it over at your leisure. Outfits for all of the characters have a distinctly Japanese aesthetic in its reimagining to match with the kabuki format. As mentioned before, the stage play covers the entire game so it is quite long. So there are two parts to the play, making it possible to purchase tickets for only half the show if your schedule can't make the whole thing. The first half ends after the party finds out Seymour is an enemy. The second half starts from the group's infiltration into Bevelle. The Final Fantasy X kabuki stage play will run from March 4 to April 12, 2023 in Japan. You can purchase tickets for it here. Siliconera Monday, February 27, 2023 9:45 AM Pokemon Sleep will appear in Summer 2023. The Pokemon Company International announced it at the February 27, 2023 Pokemon Presents. It will work with Android and Apple iOS devices. People can use the new Pokemon GO+ Plus device or place their phone next to their pillow while they sleep. Both someone's phone or Pokemon GO+ Plus can be used to measure the data. This will be "analyzed" by the new Pokemon Professor Neroli. There will also be an ever-present Snorlax around. Here's a screenshot from the presentation showing how the collected data will look. Based on the data, different Pokemon will congregate while you sleep to also nap. It's called Pokemon Concierge, and is a new, original series. The announcement comes via the latest Pokemon Presents broadcast held on February 27, 2023. Rather than following Pokemon trainers and their journeys, Pokemon Concierge is a spin-off of sorts. The story follows a concierge name Haru. It will be produced via stop-motion animation from Dwarf Studios. Dwarf Studios also produced Rilakkuma and Kaoru, a stop-motion series featuring Rilakkuma, the bear character created by San-X. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, February 27, 2023 3:01 PM PSVR2 is the successor to the already well-received PSVR.
