Halo Infinite shows signs of life after Xbox no-show

I love Halo Infinite, so when it didn't turn up at all during the Xbox Showcase this last weekend I was pretty shocked and confused. The multiplayer FPS game had a rocky start, but 343 Industries continues to expand on one of the best shooters of recent years, adding meat to the bones of a responsive and tight shooter. It looks like Microsoft had something big planned too, as Halo Infinite Season 4 is bringing the game back in full force.

Binding of Isaac creator's next game is as gleefully grim as ever

Mewgenics, the next game from The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy creator Edmund McMillen, has been a long time coming. First announced over a decade ago back in 2012, it was cast aside as McMillen turned to other projects, before he made the announcement in 2018 that he was returning to the feline turn-based strategy game with the help of fellow developer Tyler Glaiel. Now, McMillen has shown off the most extensive Mewgenics gameplay footage in quite a while, courtesy of a TikTok video.

Diablo 4's nightmare dungeons won't waste your time any more

Diablo 4 nightmare dungeons are perhaps the best Diablo 4 endgame activity and a place you'll want to spend a lot of your time after beating the campaign. The good news is that Blizzard is about to make them even more efficient and fun, with some big changes coming ahead of the first proper season. In a Diablo 4 campfire chat, the team discusses how it's planning to make your life in the RPG game much smoother very soon.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is taking the Ubisoft stealth game series back in time. Not just in a historical sense, but also to the Assassin's Creed games of old that are less RPGs and more about sandbox sneaking. To that end, Assassin's Creed Mirage takes on a lot of different inspirations in how it wants to revolutionize the series, with Ubisoft wanting to make you feel more like a samurai and Jedi when the Assassin's Creed Mirage release date finally comes around.

Snag the fantastic Spider-Man games super cheap, if you're quick

The Marvel's Spider-Man games are, for my money, the best Sony PlayStation exclusives on PC so far (although Ratchet & Clank does arrive in July). Topping the likes of God of War, Horizon, and The Last of Us, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales are two of the most fun action-adventure games going and have excellent PC ports to match. Now thanks to a Steam sale, you can get both games at their lowest price ever on the Valve storefront ahead of Spider-Man 2 - just make sure you swing into action fast (I couldn't help it).

Diablo 4 gems won't take up your inventory space forever

One of the most annoying things in Diablo 4, and many other RPG games, is inventory management. I'm bad at it, you're bad at it, we're all bad at it. From bigger items such as gear pieces to smaller loot like materials we wish weren't in the general tab, maintaining a clean and organized inventory can feel impossible at times. Thankfully, Blizzard has just confirmed that a future update in Diablo 4's second season will move gems to the materials tab. That isn't all we've learned, though, as the developers sat down to discuss other upcoming changes.

Record of Ragnarok Season 1 Blu-ray Lets You See How the Show Changed

The Record of Ragnarok anime adaptation is one where you can tell it's a work-in-progress and growing, especially looking from season 1 to season 2. There's a very different contrast in quality, even though there's a sense of the spirit attempting to uphold the spirit of the original manga at times. Even so, now that we have seen its second season, the Record of Ragnarok season 1 Blu-ray is handy for both catching up and its supplemental materials.

For those unfamiliar with it, Record of Ragnarok is the sort of series where the original purpose is to see these fights between iconic humans from across history against the gods themselves. The 13 Valkyrie allow themselves to become weapons for the humans to wield in matches. If they can win seven out of the thirteen fights, the tide turns in their favor. Season one features matches. We get to watch Lu Bu fight Thor, Adam face Zeus, and Kojiro Sasaki attack Poseidon.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9HxsIYORyE&ab_channel=NetflixAnime

Now, in general, the first season 1 of Record of Ragnarok isn't always handled well. The animations isn't always great, which can really get noticeable with fights stretching out over multiple episodes. The pacing is also a problem, given the level of information and how it's doled out between these assaults. Essentially, this adaptation isn't for everyone. However, season 2 does feel a bit stronger and slightly well animated, perhaps in part due to Yumeta Company's involvement. (Graphinica handled the first season on its own.)

This essentially means the Record of Ragnarok season 1 Blu-ray is for people who really enjoyed the anime adaptation. And it handles things well for people who did. You have all 12 episodes available with it. You're getting the additional features you expect, like the clean openings and endings. The audio quality is good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epbjLd6dqDY&ab_channel=vizmedia

Probably what I appreciated about this release is the additional features that do tie it back into the source material. While season 1 of Record of Ragnarok isn't what I wanted it to be, the Blu-ray for the anime has these things you can cite to remind you of what things are like. The first chapter of the manga is on the disc, so you can make that comparison between the source and its adaptation. I also appreciated the art gallery. While the animation might have been an issue, the character designs are good in both the manga and anime. So that lets someone appreciate that.

If you've been having issues with the Record of Ragnarok anime adaptation, the season 1 Blu-ray isn't going to blow you away and convince you it's worth watching. But if you are enjoying it, it's a good way to catch up without being tethered to a streaming service subscription. Also, the extra features there focus on the elements that might be attractive to a fan, like the opening and ending, gallery, and manga, so it's efficiently executed.

The Record of Ragnarok season 1 Blu-ray is available via Viz Media now, and the anime is available to stream on Netflix. The manga is localized by Viz Media as well.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is certainly one of my most anticipated games of 2024. The PlayStation 5-exclusive sequel has the daunting task of following up on the wild remake that threw out everything we know about this franchise. Even with such little to go off of, here is everything we want to see in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2.

New Party Members

Without a doubt, there are going to be new party members and other characters in this game that join Cloud, Aerith, and the gang. Ignoring Red XIII and Yuffie for a moment since they aren't exactly new, it is high time to introduce the likes of familiar characters like Cid Highwind, Cait Sith, and Vincent Valentine.

But I also want to see Final Fantasy VII Rebirth go above and beyond this. Spoiler alert for the ending of Remake, but finding a way to add Zack Fair to the team would be wonderful. And it might be a stretch, but having villain Sephiroth in the party, even if only for a short time, would be ridiculous and awesome.

A World Worth Exploring

https://youtu.be/HkD8BCCYsS0

My main issue with FFVII Remake was its lack of an exciting world to explore. Sure, you got to see the Slums beneath Midgar but there was very little exploration of the main city itself. While I'm not saying Rebirth has to be a fully open-world game, it would be nice to have several massive areas to explore with plenty of side content to do.

Being able to check out the Gold Saucer in its entirety, Costa del Sol and its surrounding regions, and many other iconic places is a thrilling premise. If it can't be open-world due to constraints, I'd at least like to see fully interconnected regions a la Final Fantasy XII.

Off-the-Rails Plot

If there is anything that Final Fantasy VII Remake taught me, it's that Square Enix, Tetsuya Nomura, and the team have no interest in recreating the same old plot devices and storyline as before. I want to see this sequel fully lean into that idea and give something truly unique.

How does Aerith treat Cloud with Zack Fair back in the picture? Spoilers for the original game here, but could we even see another character take the place of Aerith's destined end?

Brand New Villains

Sephiroth is certainly one of the best video game villains of all time, but he needn't carry Rebirth on his back alone. I'd like to see new villains make an appearance in this middle game in the trilogy that are handled a bit better than the arguably underused Roche, such as a 1st class SOLDIER we haven't seen before or even a more humanoid version of Jenova.

This could pave the way for some fascinating new boss fights, designs, and fan-favorite characters for the community to fawn over.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will release for PlayStation 5 in early 2024.

All Timed Events in Diablo 4, explainedDiablo 4 is a procrastinator's nightmare, or eternal joy, depending on how you view it. Many times I have been making my way over to one mission, and it's taken me hours to get there because of how many sidetracking events there are along the way. This is one of the reasons I love that game; I'm massively overpowered way before I get to the mission because I can't say no. Some of my favorites are timed events in Diablo 4. They pop up around the map and result in absolute carnage of the best sort. Diablo 4's timed Gathering Legion Events Screenshot by PC Invasion At random times in Diablo 4, a circular icon will appear on the map. The icon signifies a timed event starting soon. If you decide to take part and cave to the temptation of distraction, you will find the area usually swarming with other players. This is what makes them so fun.
