Destiny 2 isn't the problem, its players are

Why do some Destiny 2 fans give Bungie so much bother? It's a question I've been pondering throughout my extensive time with the game because, as far as I can tell, these are people who remain deeply invested. It's almost like we should exercise some agency over our decisions and step away when something is no longer doing it for us, but - snarkiness aside - we should really delve a little deeper into why the FPS game is proving increasingly polarizing.

Note that you absolutely, definitely, 100% should not read much further down the page until you watch the one-minute trailer, as we'll get into massive spoilers.

Diablo 4 patch 1.0.4 hotfix nerfs game-breaking Necromancer skill

Diablo 4 patch 1.0.4 hotfix 1 and 2 have rolled out to live servers, with a key Necromancer nerf that even players who favor the undead-raising class can be happy with. This Diablo 4 patch changes Blood Lance, temporarily cutting back its effect and that of its strongest legendary aspect dramatically. Fortunately, it's good news, because while the skill would be core to one of the best Necromancer builds in the entire RPG game, you can't actually use it right now.

     Anime Adventures codes July 2023

July 8, 2023: We added new Anime Adventures codes to our list.

What are the new Anime Adventures codes? If you're starting out trying to defend your base, you will want to summon the most powerful heroes and villains based on the most popular anime of all time, such as One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Dragon Ball, to stop the evil forces from storming your base. But, of course, some are more powerful than others, so if you want to get the most out of the game's gacha system, you'll want tons of codes.

Anime Adventures is a tower defense anime game built inside Roblox, and you can earn gems to summon units by grinding through levels and completing daily missions. AA codes can help you get even more gems, which you can spend on getting the best units in the game. New codes are released with every update, so if you see the prompt for a new update, do check back to see if there are any that you've not redeemed yet. While you're here, you should know that we also keep lists of Blox Fruits codes, King Legacy codes, and All Star Tower Defense codes to get you more freebies.

EA's new magic FPS wants to be a sci-fi LOTR meets Elder Scrolls

Review: Crime O'Clock Solves Crime Across Time

Every once in a while, we see a developer do something a little different with the hidden object genre. It's always appreciated. I grew up with Where's Waldo and appreciate opportunities to see those sorts of puzzles again. Crime O'Clock mixes the idea of picking people out of a crowd with crime solving. You will see a specific crime, such as a theft or murder, and then need to go through different moments in time to track culprits. Crime O'Clock works well, especially on the Switch, but does hit some limitations.

Each player in Crime O'Clock is a detective working alongside an AI known as E.V.E. You'll use your program to investigate five time periods throughout history, ranging from the realistic Information Age and more fantastical Atlantean Age and Aeon Age, in the name of preserving a True Timeline. Your goal is to pick out crimes on the map for each area, then go back to find the suspects or proof necessary to then keep that crime from happening. When on a case, you'll look at various "ticks" to see progress over time.
[caption id="attachment_971556" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Review: Crime O'Clock Solves Crime Across Time Image via Bad Seed[/caption]
While there is an "adventure" overtone, in practice the only investigative elements are left to minigames. Your part as a detective here involves what is basically the equivalent of picking someone out of a very packed lineup. Each case takes place on one of the five "maps" taken from different time periods. These are black-and-white scenes with surprisingly detailed characters. (I was very pleased at the level of personality packed into them!) Once you find a person or specific clue or place, you then move forward or backtrack to find the other pieces of the puzzle to get someone responsible or find proof by pointing them out at different moments in time.

I appreciated how clear everything is. Characters are well-defined. It's easy to highlight the people and places with the hourglass icon. These remain on the map, regardless of steps forward or back in time, so you can use them as an additional reference during the "case." Incredibly brief minigames can come up during each "tick," with these involving "investigation" elements like tracing a character by their phone or pinning down their identity. The controls are responsive on the Switch, so it's easy to zoom in and out or highlight a specific area. You can also get some hints, with no penalties for doing so, if a "case" is giving you trouble. I also appreciated that each investigation could mean following different people or folks who change their appearance slightly, to add a more challenge when trying to pick someone out of a crowd.
[caption id="attachment_971558" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Image via Bad Seed Image via Bad Seed[/caption]
The thing is, Crime O'Clock starts to wear out its welcome. While there is a premise that you are a detective using AI to solve crimes so they don't happen, the overall "story" doesn't feel very cohesive. Playing it a case or two at a time is ideal. But if you play in an extended session, like I did for this review, it can start to bleed together a bit. The concept of seeing step-by-step actions and tracing victims and criminals is a solid one! But since they do follow the same progression, in many cases using the same map since only five "eras" in time are being investigated, and always involve ten "tick" moments captured in time, it can all bleed together.

It doesn't help that minigames never feel complex enough to be a compelling break from the actual hidden object element. Each one is essentially an excuse to provide a hint as to what you might need to look for next or where someone could be. This can mean that there also isn't much to them. Maybe you need to tap nodes on a map or in time to line proper parts of a picture up. The latter of which can feel unnecessary, since you can clearly see who they are in the original image. The only time it comes in handy is when it might offer a hint as to who the next person to search for could be, as you might not know their identity otherwise.
[caption id="attachment_971557" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Review: Crime O'Clock Solves Crime Across Time Image via Bad Seed[/caption]
Crime O'Clock is a novel take on a hidden object game. The idea is sound. It can get a bit repetitive, but then someone could argue that is a general flaw inherent in the genre and not necessarily a huge issue here. I really appreciated the design direction and artistic approach, even if the minigames felt a little unnecessary or simple when tossed in. Crime O'Clock is generally a lot of fun, especially for a quick timesink on the Switch.

Crime O'Clock is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

honkai star rail 1.2 release date

During the Honkai: Star Rail version 1.2 special program, HoYoVerse revealed its release date. It'll fall on July 19, 2023. You will likely be able to pre-download the launcher onto your PC or mobile phone before that date so as to start playing immediately. However, mobile players will still need to re-download the updated version of the game from the app store.

You can watch the trailer for Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.2 here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPYqvSRWkx4

You can also watch the Japanese trailer here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lYCWgiW03Q

Luocha will remain in the Warp until Version 1.2 comes out, and the current Stellar Flare event will end then as well. However, due to issues regarding the event, the Belobog museum one will continue all the way to August 2023, and will thus still be available in Version 1.2.

It will introduce the playable versions of Kafka and Blade, as well as continue the story quest. Not only will there be new maps to explore, but there will also be new bosses to fight. There will also be several new events, such as a treasure hunting one that'll grant awards like Stellar Jades. Version 1.2 will also introduce chat boxes to spruce up your in-game messages to your friends.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the Windows PC and mobile devices. The release date for version 1.2 of Honkai: Star Rail will come out on July 19, 2023.

Here Are the Honkai: Star Rail Codes from Special Program 1.2

Another Honkai: Star Rail Special Program has come and gone, which means more Stellar Jade codes. It's a tradition for HoYoVerse to share a few at its presentations. For 1.2, there are three codes as usual. Redeeming them all nets you 300 Stellar Jades and other in-game items.

Here is the full list of new Honkai: Star Rail Stellar Jade codes from the Special Program 1.2

  • MSPT7HAZTCTX – 100 Stellar Jade, 5 Traveler's Guides
  • 5TPBPGAGBDAK – 100 Stellar Jade, 4 Refined Aether
  • 7B6B7GBZTVTB– 100 Stellar Jade, 50,000 Credits

Depending on how you play the game, you'll need to redeem those codes in different ways. So if you play Honkai: Star Rail on a PC, bring up the in-game "phone." You then tap the Trailblazer Profile button. Underneath it is a button that says "Redemption Code." Hitting that lets you redeem a code. However, if you're playing on a mobile device, you'll need to go to a special website. After logging in, selecting your server, and choosing your character nickname, you can enter all three codes. In both cases, you'll get messages in your in-game inbox that you need to read to claim the freebies.

Honkai: Star Rail is immediately available on the PC and mobile devices, and the new codes from the 1.2 Special Program are valid only on July 8, 2023. The new version update will come on July 19, 2023.

honkai star rail 1.2 banners

During the Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.2 special program, HoYoVerse revealed the order that the new Blade and Kafka banners will come out in. We already learned that both will be the new playable five-stars, as well as the four-star Luka. However, we didn't know until now which one would be first. Blade will show up initially. Then Kafka and Luka will follow.

Blade is a five-star Wind Destruction playable unit in Honkai: Star Rail. Lore-wise, he's an immortal mara-struck who can keep it in control thanks to Kafka's Spirit Whisper. He also has a mysterious past with Dan Heng, and his ultimate goal is to end his eternal existence. Blade is similar to Hu Tao in Genshin Impact in which he consumes his own HP to deal greater damage against enemies, as well as enhancing his Basic Attack. He's voiced by Daman Mills in English.

Like Blade, Kafka is a member of the Stellaron Hunters in Honkai: Star Rail. She's a five-star Lightning Nihility playable unit. In her lore, Kafka comes from a planet that doesn't know fear and she also literally doesn't know fear. So she works for Elio after he promised her that he would incite a change in her. As a playable unit, her kit mostly focuses on dealing Lightning DoT. She can also launch a follow-up attack after an ally's Basic Attack. She's voiced by Cheryl Texiera in English.

Finally, the third new playable character is Luka. He is from Belobog, and is a four-star Physical Nihility character. Not only is he Oleg's protege and Fight Club champion, but he's also a member of both The Moles and Wildfire. He can get stacks in battle, and consuming them will enhance his Basic Attack. He'll appear on the same banner as Kafka.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the Windows PC and mobile devices. Version 1.2 of will come out on July 19, 2023. The banner in the first half in Honkai: Star Rail will introduce the "A Lost Soul" Warp, which will feature Blade, Arlan, Sushang, and Natasha. The latter half of Version 1.2 will be "Nessun Dorma," with Kafka, Luka, Sampo, and Serval.

First Honkai: Star Rail Figure Seems to Be a Dan Heng Nendoroid

It looks like we'll see a Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Nendoroid and other figure news at BilibiliWorld 2023. The event is July 21-23, 2023. On Bilibili, the unpainted prototype of this first figure appeared. He'll show up at the event at the game's booth. [Thanks, Genshin Update and 帕姆的收藏夹!]

Here's a closer look at the Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Nendoroid. He's equipped Cloud-Piercer in this initial pose. He also features his standard, stoic expression. There's no hint about other expressions or accessories.
[gallery columns="1" size="full" ids="972086" link="file"]

Good Smile Company's made figures for quite a few HoYoVerse games already. There are ones for Honkai Impact 3rd characters like Kiana and Bronya. Genshin Impact Nendoroids, figma, and scale figures also appeared, with some upcoming ones being Zhongli and the Raiden Shogun. In the past, figures based on Aether and Lumine, Venti, and Mona showed up. In fact, Mona appeared as both the first Genshin Impact figma and as a scale figure.

There's no release date for the Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Nendoroid yet, but in-game he's a starter character who joins your party for free once you start playing. The game is available on PCs and mobile devices now, with the PS5 version arriving later in 2023. BilibiliWorld 2023 is July 21-23, 2023, and there will be more Honkai: Star Rail figure news there.
