PCGamesN Thursday, January 25, 2024 1:35 PM How do you increase inventory size in Enshrouded? With those, you'll be able to upgrade your shack into a full-on forge. Need to know where to find Enshrouded Metal Scraps? We've got you covered. Part survival game part creature collecting sim, Pocketpair's indie behemoth certainly resembles Pokemon at a glance, but its extensive crafting mechanics, sprawling open world, and general chaos are exactly what I've been looking for in one of Game Freak's games for some time - it's the itch that Legends: Arceus failed to fully scratch. It's difficult to go wrong with premium brands like Noctua, Be Quiet, Cooler Master, or Thermaltake, but you'll first need to check whether they'll fit in your PC case, you want the coolest or most silent system possible, and what kind of fans you need as airflow models are different from the static pressure fans you need for the best AIO cooler. PCGamesN Thursday, January 25, 2024 10:23 AM Looking for some games like Fall Guys? Equal parts infuriating and addictive, Fall Guys is the brightest, bounciest battle royale game we've ever failed repeatedly at - and we have failed at a lot of battle royales. Even though Fall Guys itself is now free to play, after one too many gleeful hours toddling around and bouncing out of the competition, you may be wondering what other fun-yet-competitive party games you can pick up and play with friends, family, or even strangers. Well, wonder no more, my wobbly bean. As we gush about in our Fall Guys review, the 'original' - as it were - is a fun, mindless jaunt through colorful rounds, and it's as enjoyable as it sounds. Thanks to that flawless formula, a couple of controversial games have tried to directly imitate the aesthetic and Takeshi's Castle-esque gameplay of Fall Guys. PCGamesN Thursday, January 25, 2024 9:54 AM What are the best fighting games on PC? It may be one of the oldest genres in gaming, but it wasn't until unintentional glitches gave birth to combos in Street Fighter 2 that the first boom took hold in arcades during the 90s. During the next few years, other classic fighters would enter this eternal tournament, most notably Mortal Kombat with its motion-capture gore, and both Virtua Fighter and Tekken would take the genre into 3D. Fighting games would grow out of favor in the 2000s, but thanks to the revival of the Street Fighter series, followed by the more recent rise of esports and, to a lesser extent, the global pandemic, we now have access to some of the best PC games. They're infamous for being tough to learn, but with the help of video tutorials, there's never been a better time to get into these highly competitive multiplayer games. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 25, 2024 1:00 PM When I sat down at my desk after lunch today, I thought, I'm just going to give this demo for Balatro a tiny go, just to get my head round its poker-based roguelike deckbuilding. Cut to several hours later and I've had to forcibly shut the game down and wrench myself away from it just to write this post, because listen, you need to go and play Balatro's demo right now, because hot damn this is the good stuff if you're into roguelike deckbuilders. I also say this as someone who's never played or understood a game of poker in her life, because let's face it, regular poker is quite boring. Balatro, on the other hand, is poker that's turbo-charged with magic Joker cards, tarot card multipliers, and blind conditions that make a successful hand increasingly tricky to pull off. And it's coming out in full real soon, too. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 25, 2024 12:05 PM Room for another mass layoff post, before we end the day? This one is actually two separate stories but in a bid to conserve resources and make our frontpage slightly less depressing to read, I am going to roll them together. Black Forest Games, the Embracer-owned creators of the Destroy All Humans! Remake, are reportedly cutting 50% of their workforce - around 50-60 people. Outriders developers People Can Fly, meanwhile, have laid off 30 developers who were working on an unannounced Square Enix game. |

I'm bored of Palworld already, because it starts off the same as any other survival game. Of course it does! We give our vibes-based takes on the whole affair, which seems to be escalating every day (and will therefore presumably disappear soon). |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 25, 2024 10:57 AM As far as bread goes, I'd say those unlimited top-ups you get with fancy meals can sometimes supersede the actual meal itself. A little swirl in olive oil and balsamic? Mwah, delicious. For a more regular transaction, I do love a multi-seeded loaf for the added texture. Now, would I say I like bread more than… anime? That's tough. But thankfully I don't need to decide, as there's a demo of a game out right now that combines both interests. In Aeruta you play as an anime girl who defeats monsters and uses their innards to fuel her bakery business. Perfect. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 25, 2024 10:28 AM Given that Microsoft have spent considerable time and effort becoming the biggest cock-of-the-walk possible, it does, I suppose, make sense that their layoffs are correspondingly massive. In an internal memo obtained by The Verge, Phil Spencer is very sad to reveal to the staff that, in order to grow, the combined powers of Microsoft's 22k-strong Gaming Division have to be denuded to the tune of 1,900 human beings. That amounts to about 8% of the division. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 25, 2024 10:20 AM Take the Countdown numbers round, replace the number cards with cute woodland creatures and the mathematical operations with spells, and consider the target number a boss you must defeat, and you've basically got Super Algebrawl. This tactical mathematical RPG is the latest from Punkcake Délicieux, the small team behind the roguelikelike 'chess with a gun' Shotgun King. Super Algebrawl started life as a experiment by one of the devs to help teach his daughter maths, though frankly I think it'll teach her maths is cruel. This game and I have very different relationships with numbers. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 25, 2024 10:00 AM Who'd have thought toilet plungers would make for such good jumping assistants when it comes to propelling yourself over big, thorny brambles and angry animals? Well, clearly the trio of developers at Phoenix Blasters did, as their upcoming platformer Telmari puts them front and centre as its main form of traversal. Your titular tiny heroine can't jump very far on her own, you see, so to save her beloved sunflowers from the spiky thorns of an ominous-looking tree, she'll need to fire them around the environment to help hoist her over obstacles to get to the, err, root of the problem. I've been playing its Steam demo this morning, and while it's a little rough around the edges, there's definitely something here for those trained in the Super Meat Boy school of pixel perfect platforming. |

CASETiFY will start selling Jujutsu Kaisen merchandise for tech starting on January 31, 2024. You'll be able to get an Airpods case that looks like the Prison Realm, as well as an Apple Pencil holder that looks like one of Sukuna's fingers. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
The case and the holder are both part of CASETiFY's collaboration with Jujutsu Kaisen. Considering their motifs, it's not a surprise that the Sukuna's finger Apple Pencil holder and the Prison Realm Airpods case look kind of grotesque. If you want something a little less eye-catching but still proclaim your love for Jujutsu Kaisen, CASETiFY does offer other products. You can get a cursed energy thermal case that'll change pattern when it detects your body warmth. There will also be collectible cards in blind boxes.
The Prison Realm Airpods case costs $135, though CASETiFY offers free shipping. Sukuna's finger is $50. You can attach it around your Apple Pencil as a sort of grip, or just as a piece of decoration. It is most definitely a choking hazard so refrain from swallowing it.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available for streaming via services such as Crunchyroll. The CASETiFY Jujutsu Kaisen merchandise will come out on January 31, 2024, and it offers free shipping worldwide. Other upcoming merchandise for Jujutsu Kaisen includes a Shibuya Incident board game.

Atlus already announced there would be Persona 5 Royal Phantom Thieves costumes for Persona 3 Reload characters as DLC. Now there's a new trailer showing exactly how all of them look in action.
The video begins by showing the protagonist accompanied by various party members as they just enter Tartarus. Makoto is dressed as the Joker protagonist Ren. Yukari is wearing Ann's Panther costume. Junpei is dressed in Ryuji's Skull outfit. Akihiko dons Goro's Crow one. After that, we get to see Mitsuru as Makoto/Queen, Aigis as Haru/Noir, and Ken as Yusuke/Fox. The last quick shot also shows Koromaru in Morgana attire and Shinjiro in the black Crow costume.
From there, we get closer looks at all of these designs in-battle. It shows how the masks, costumes, and designs for characters shift when a Persona 3 Reload player uses the Persona 5 Royal Phantom Thieves DLC. At the end, we get to see Mitsuru use her Theurgy ability and after-battle scenes with party members walking toward the camera.
Here's the full Persona 3 Reload DLC trailer:
One of the last trailers offered a better look at the Tatsumi Island places players can go.

The announcement post for this did not mention anything about why the show will end. However, it thanks all the listeners for their support, as they were the reason why the show was able to go on for so long. SKDW, which is short for "V no Sukonna Otakatsu Nandawa," was highly popular and even received nominations in multiple categories in the 7th Aniradi Award.
The Hololive Production social media account retweeted the announcement to add its own message of gratitude to fans. It also stated that it looks forward to fans who may want to send in letters for the show at Hololive Super Expo 2024. As a reminder, the Hololive Super Expo 2024 will take place in Makuhari Messe on March 16 and 17, 2024.
The radio show started in May 2020 and featured multiple guests both within and outside of Hololive. For example, in July 2020, Tomokazu Sugita appeared as a guest on the show. Good Smile Company, which has a racing division, announced the Racing Hatsune Miku design for 2024. It is drawn by Mogumo, the artist who was the character designer for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, and happens to look like a witch.
Here is the official image for the new Hatsune Miku design. The "Good Smile Racing" logo is on her left arm's glove, and she has the Crypton logo on her left leg. She's riding on an electric broom with a crown-shaped design where bristles would be. She also has a witch's hat on. Her outfit is primarily white, with magenta accents.
This comes ahead of Wonder Festival 2024 Winter, which will be held February 11, 2024. Odds are, this means figures based on it will be announced.
It isn't uncommon for Good Smile Company to tap famous artists to work on the new racing Hatsune Miku designs each year, so the 2024 reveal isn't a surprise. For 2023, the Atelier Ryza artist Toridamono worked on the character and her outfit. A Nendoroid and figma based on it appeared.
More details about the any potential figures based on this design, as well as other Good Smile Company figmas and Nendoroids, will appear at Wonder Festival 2024 Winter on February 11, 2024.

Pocketpair released a new Palworld patch, and it both fixes the known loading screen and world date issues and blocks cheats from working. It didn't offer details about what sorts of illegal activity 0.1.3.0 on PCs and 0.1.1.1 on the Xbox One and Series X will cover.
The developer has been fairly regularly squashing bugs in the game as they appear. For example, the black screen error ended up being fixed shortly after launch. With these issues, the loading screen problem would make the game unplayable. This is because that screen would not go away. However, the world date issue could also be a problem.
As for the Palworld cheats and exploits, there were some players who were accessing the Pocketpair developer ones from an old build, trainers already exist, and folks were working on things like item duplication. However, it also said that it can't "completely prevent all cheating immediately."
Here's the social media announcement with the official patch notes concerning the Palworld loading screen and world date fixes:
And yes, there are new sales updates and player count figures. It is now at eight million copies sold after six days of being on the market. Its all-time peak, according to SteamDB, is 2,018,905.
Palworld is in early access for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Square Enix announced that a crackdown on counterfeit merchandise in the Guangdong province of the People's Republic of China has lead to criminal charges against a number of individuals. The charges were made back in May 2023 against six individuals who were involved in distributing counterfeit goods to retailers and three individuals who were involved in the manufacturing process.
In the press release from Square Enix, the company stated that products from franchises like Final Fantasy and NieR Automata were seized by authorities in China after a number of allegations were made by multiple Japanese and Chinese companies who sought to crack down on the illegal distribution of non-licensed and counterfeit goods. Square Enix reported that these illegal goods were utilizing the character designs from the company's games and were sold through major retailers in China, Japan, and different countries in the west.
Square Enix was able to enlist help from independent investigation firms and industry peers in order to collect the information provided to Guangdong authorities that ultimately lead to the charges against the individual counterfeiters.
Square Enix also shared an image of some of the illegal merchandise that was seized by Guangdong authorities, which includes statues of Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII and 2B from NieR Automata.
Square Enix reassured shareholders, stakeholders, and fans that the company intends to continue to "provide better products and services while maintaining and enhancing its brand image" and asked that customers and distributors associated with the company "remain vigilant and protect themselves against counterfeits."
Square Enix has a number of official goods for franchises like Final Fantasy and NieR Automata, including a Play Arts Kai figure of Tifa, SH Figuarts figure of 2B, the Masterline 2B statue that costs nearly $2,000 USD, and Tifa figures featuring the character in her Cheongsam dress from Final Fantasy VII Remake.

The real-life father of light who inspired FFXIV: Dad of Light has died. The director of the film Kiyofumi Yamamoto posted this news on his social media account. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
Yamamoto originally posted on January 21, 2024 to ask people to think about Indey, which is in-game FFXIV name of the titular dad of light, for even a second of their day. He states that he knows people are busy with the new update. But he hopes that they would spend even a second reading the blog or watching the story.
A few days later, on January 23, 2024, he posted to apologize for his original Tweet. He explained that he initially wrote the January 21 post on impulse. He later stated that Indey has gone on a new journey with Maidy. Maidy, the person who originally wrote the FFXIV Dad of Light blog posts, passed away in 2020. He states that he's only met Indey a few times in game and only once in real life. But he's glad that he was able to hand Indey a picture he shot of Maidy, especially since Maidy's family apparently used that picture for the funeral.
He ends the Tweet praying that Indey will have a peaceful new journey, and hopes that everyone who knew about his family through their blog or its adaptations will continue to pass on the stories of who they were in life.
Maidy wrote several blog posts detailing his adventures in FFXIV with his father, in which they use the game to re-connect with each other. Originally, there was a live-action drama series based on the story until a film version came out a few years later. The film and series both combine live-action with in-game footage to tell the story.
You can watch FFXIV: Dad of Light on Netflix. The movie, Brave Father Online: Our Story of Final Fantasy XIV never appeared outside of Japan.
