Welcome to the Week in Review
Welcome to the week in review
I can’t tell you how glad I am that TechRadar's Get Fit For '24 week, a bonanza of indispensible health and fitness content and advice, ran just before the annual technology face-blast that is CES. You see, you can’t really prepare for the sprawling event in Las Vegas (January 9-12) without some serious cardio prep. Forget 10,000 steps a day – you might do 15,000 or more in a single busy day covering new giant mini LED TVs, AI PCs, robots, and a billion and one sustainability promises. So, yes, my brain is now almost entirely focused on the event, which officially starts a few days before the public opening with a raft of press events. The TR team will be on the ground to bring you all the breaking news, and even some TikToks (subscribe!).

Before I depart for Vegas, though, I just about have time to reflect on another busy week in technology, which included Microsoft Copilot’s bold appearance on the keyboards of many of the laptops and PCs you’ll buy in 2024. Meanwhile, Samsung is preparing to launch Galaxy AI along with its Galaxy S24 smartphone lineup right after CES – and I've been reflecting on the idea that AI is set make for a challenging year in the US, with truth and facts set to be at a premium.

Was Christmas really only a couple of weeks ago? No matter. Happy new year, folks, and buckle in for a wild ride in 2024.

Lance Ulanoff, US Editor-in-Chief

AI will make it impossible know the truth in 2024
Don't believe everything you see (Shutterstock)
It looks as though 2024 will very much be the year of AI – and that means we're going to have to be very, very careful about what we choose to believe, as artificially generated text, images, and videos take over the web even more than they did in 2023.
