Is there anything else going on other than Vision Pro? This is a rare moment where I’m not wearing the ground-breaking spatial computer. It’s an incredible piece of hardware (based on my experience and early reviews) and I swear I learn something new about the mixed-reality headset with every single use. Now, though, Vision Pro is about to be out in the wild. As of today, anxious customers started picking up their orders from various Apple stores. I watched the grand opening at the Fifth Ave. flagship in NY where Apple CEO Tim Cook was in attendance (he sends his regards).
Okay, there is some other stuff, like whispers about iOS 18 and how it could be huge (I expect some real generative AI baked into the mobile platform). We also saw a lovely new handset contender from OnePlus and nibbled on some fresh Samsung Galaxy Ring leaks. We think Microsoft is prepping Windows 12 (which will have a lot of Copilot in it), and are seeing a tidal wave of updates across all the existing chatbots and generative AI systems.
I’ve been informed by my partner that I will not be spending $3,500 on the Vision Pro, but I wonder if she’d go for the bear-shaped speaker.
Let’s all dive into the honey pot of good tech that was this week.

The week in virtual reality
We've been testing out the new Vision Pro (Future)
TechRadar US Editor in Chief Lance Ulanoff has been sharing his initial thoughts after spending a couple of days in the company of the brand new Apple Vision Pro – and he says the mixed reality headset is already "transforming everything I do".
We're now eagerly awaiting the arrival of iOS 18 later this year, as one of the most reliable Apple tipsters in the business has predicted it could be the biggest software update in Apple's history – with generative AI features rumored to be playing a major role.
Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Ring, without telling us when it will actually go on sale. Now a mention of the device has been spotted inside Samsung's own Good Lock app, which makes us think that a full launch can't be too far off.
The 2024 Super Bowl is fast approaching, which is as good a reason as any to invest in a new television set – and with the deals and offers currently available on top-tier sets from Best Buy, you might not need to pay as much as you would usually expect.
There are interesting changes afoot in the test builds of Windows 11, with a recent software fork suggesting that Microsoft is now laying the ground for Windows 12 – although it might not get officially rolled out to everyone until next year.
There's something for everyone in this week's roundup of stuff to stream, no matter what your tastes or streaming platform of choice: action, animation, drama, biographies, comedy and more besides. Settle down on the sofa and start your weekend.
