That's partly because it's so easy to find a healthy one now, and there's a joy in shearing down multiple times and still finding material. You can start from "strategy games are in a good state" and go all the way down to "Turn-based strategy wargames that balance detailed simulation with accessibility and are set in World War 2" and still find several strong entries from the last few years. But it's The Troop that grabbed me most. It's a little surprising, given its modest look, and the stiff competition. I think what clinched it is that The Troop has revealed to me something that I already sort of knew, but hadn't quite caught hold of: that a tank warfare game is all about the pause. |

Picture it: the post-apocalyptic America of Fallout, radroaches and stimpacks and all, except that this being a TV adaptation, the first hour doesn't consist entirely of trying to persuade Bethesda's face editor not to make your character look like their soul has been sucked out. Instead, you can kick back with a can of Nuka Cola and watch flesh-and-blood stars Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins and Aaron Moten rove the wasteland. I caught the first couple of episodes last week, and while I find the show's aesthetics off-putting - it's kind of a Fallout themepark, rather than a convincing world - I do think there's the makings of a fun tale here. |

Square Enix is now selling a Crystarium Prodigy's Attire costume in the Final Fantasy XIV Online Store that is based on the outfit Alphinaud wears. It costs $12 and can be worn by a character of any species or gender.
There are four parts in this Crystarium's Prodigy's Attire set. You get a top, fingerless gloves, hose, and thighboots. You can not dye any of the items.
To compare, here's how Alphinaud looked in Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers alongside the new Crystarium Prodigy's Attire costume.
And here are the screenshots Square Enix shared with us showing how Crystarium Prodigy looks when worn by characters of different races and genders.
This isn't the first time we've seen one of the Leveilleur twins' costumes appear as a Final Fantasy XIV cosmetic. Back in March 2023, Alisaie's outfit appeared at the online store. That attire was based on her Heavensward look. There's also an $18 Sharlayan Prodigy's Suit and $15 Brand-new Alphinaud's Attire based on him.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Dawntrail expansion will arrive on July 2, 2024. The 14 Hour Broadcast for FFXIV will begin on April 12, 2024, with the FFXIV Letter From the Producer Live LXXX taking place an hour after that starts.

Cover Corporation revealed that it will release a new trading card game based on Hololive Production Vtubers. The game's title will be Hololive Official Card Game, and Cover will also receive assistance from Bushiroad when developing and releasing it.
Cover has also uploaded a teaser trailer for the new trading card game on Hololive Production's Japanese official X account. The company so far only published the title's logo and the tentative design for the cards' back side. However, in the Japanese press release, it promised that the cards will feature both new and existing illustrations of the Vtubers.
This is not the first time Cover and Bushiroad have co-operated in releasing Hololive TCG cards. The company had previously worked together to release Hololive Production booster packs for the crossover trading card game Weiss Schwarz in 2022. The lineup back then featured 53 Vtubers from the Japanese, Indonesian, and English branches who were active at that time.
While Weiss Schwarz was primarily designed by Bushiroad, Cover will take the primary role in designing the gameplay system for the Hololive trading card game and developing the cards. Bushiroad will assist the company in distributing the cards to multiple shop outlets and organizing tournaments for the game.
Hololive Official Card Game will be available in September 2024.

HoYoVerse offered details about the new Honkai: Star Rail Tides of War Hidden Secrets event ahead of its debut. Things kick off on April 13, 2024 for anyone who finished the all of the Trailblaze Missions on Jarilo-VI.
This is a battling type of event. After Bob returns to Herta Space Station after a Penacony vacation, he extracted a Tides of War: Untainted Childhood Memories Passionate-Heart Burning-Soul Ultimate Collection Memory Bubble. It is then up to the player to go through six battle stages, defeating the enemies within it. Each one has three waves of enemies. You have six cycles to get through as many as possible. There are Support Functions you can unlock by building up the Grit Value by performing certain actions in fights. If you get enough Grit to enter different Grit Phases, different supportive abilities and buffs are offered.
The rewards were also mentioned. People can get 500 Primogems, a Tracks of Destiny, and some Relic Remains for their efforts. Other things people can get include experience items and Credits.
Honkai: Star Rail is available on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Tides of War Hidden Secrets event will run until May 6, 2024.

Crunchyroll is the sort of service that updates its schedule for seasons as things go along, which means even if a new show isn't there right away it could be. It updated to reveal the anime adaptation of Kaii to Otome to Kamikakushi will air on the service as Mysterious Disappearances.
For those unfamiliar with the series, Kaii to Otome to Kamikakushi follows bookstore employees Sumireko Ogawa and Ren Adashino. The two end up constantly getting caught up in supernatural situations as they are approached by and hear about things while working together at a book store. The manga will be showing up in English, with Seven Seas Entertainment releasing volume 1 in May 2024, but the anime started its run worldwide on April 10, 2024.
As the show already began airing in Japan, this means people can already start watching it. The listing for the show is live on the service and its site. The first episode is called "The Cursed Book, the Maiden, and the Birthday. It involves Sumireko getting caught up in a mystery after being given a strange book.

It seems we won't see an English dub of the Kaii to Otome to Kamikakushi anime, however, Crunchyroll didn't update its listing of Spring 2024 dubs with it. The last confirmation to show up there involved the Hindi dub of the show A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics.
The Mysterious Disappearances anime is on Crunchyroll now, with one episode available and new ones apparently appearing every Wednesday. The manga will appear in English on May 21, 2024.

Capcom wants to see figures from its Resident Evil game series released as Happy Meal toys in McDonald's outlets. The company stated its desire by posting a new tweet on its Resident Evil series' official X account.
The figures shown in the tweet are based on in-game collectible items from the series. From left to right, they are Mr. Everywhere from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Mr. Raccoon from the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2, Charlie Doll from the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3, and the Clockwork Castellan from the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4.

McDonald's has previously released Happy Meal toys based on video game franchises like Pokemon, Kirby, and Sonic the Hedgehog. These franchises share a similarity, in which most of their entries are available for children with the ESRB E (Everyone) and CERO A ratings. On the other hand, most Resident Evil games are generally geared towards a more mature audience with the ESRB M (Mature) or CERO D ratings.
The only entries to receive lower ratings were the Game Boy Color title Resident Evil Gaiden and the Resident Evil 2 port for Tiger Electronics' Game.com handheld console, which ESRB gave the T (Teen) rating. But still, there are no series entries released to date that have received an ESRB E or CERO A rating to make them suitable for kids.
It remains to be seen whether Capcom's wish to have these Resident Evil figures available as Happy Meal toys will become a reality, whether in McDonald's Japan or other countries.

Sanrio has opened the 39th annual Sanrio Character Ranking poll on April 11, 2024. People can head to the poll's website to cast their votes, and the site is also available internationally in English, Korean, and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified). The company recommends accessing the website with the latest versions of Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge browsers on smartphones and PCs.
A total of 90 characters are available to vote for in this poll. People will simply need to click the vote button for each character to register their votes. While they can vote for multiple characters, the site will only allow one vote per day for each character from the same person.
Sanrio's Japanese blog post provides more context to the poll's history. Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Kuromi had filled the top three spots in the previous two years. Cinnamoroll had even dominated the first ranking spot for four consecutive years. However, Sanrio is speculating that Hello Kitty could make a comeback as the character celebrates her 50th anniversary in 2024. The 2024 poll also marks the first appearance of Petapetaminilian.
The 2024 Sanrio Character Ranking poll is open until May 26, 2024, at 5 PM JST (4 AM ET). Sanrio will announce the final results at the Sanrio Fes 2024 on June 16, 2024.
