Fantasy city builder launches to strong Steam player count and reviews

After spending a while in Early Access on Steam, Fabledom has launched its 1.0 version, offering a fairy tale inspired city builder to players who might have had their fill of the grittier form of the genre seen in the recent Manor Lords or upcoming Frostpunk 2. Unlike those games, Fabledom looks to sources of inspiration like the fantasy tinged The Settlers or, more recently, Against the Storm, combining these influences with a bubbly cartoon aesthetic. Its execution of this premise seems to be working, with positive reviews and a healthy player base forming around the game in the days since its 1.0 launch on Steam.

The best FPS game you've never played is $3 right now

There is no other game quite like Devil Daggers. Created by Sorath and originally launched in 2016, Devil Daggers is a contest of skill and perseverance, its steadily increasing difficulty calling to mind Gears of War's horde mode, its bullet hell design offering an FPS game spin on shmups like Ikaruga or Battle Garegga, and its infernal visuals taking notes from Doom or Quake. It's a tremendous work, endlessly compelling and, best of all, available for just under $3 USD right now.

Legendary adventure game gets brand new fan made remaster mod

Back in 2015, Grim Fandango Remastered came out, making it easier than it had been since the original version's 1998 launch to play one of the most beloved adventure games ever made. Still, even with the attention given to the classic LucasArts launch — one as well regarded as the studio's The Secret of Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, and Maniac Mansion — the remaster didn't provide players with every one of the updates they were looking for. Fortunately, almost a decade later, fans of the game have just put out a new mod that finishes remastering the remaster for free.

League of Legends dev hints at Singed buffs as players demand changes

League of Legends developer Riot Games has dropped some absolutely massive changes to the famed MOBA over the last few weeks. The mid-season patch 14.10 update introduced a boatload of gameplay changes, including summoner spell alterations, new items, changed existing items, and so much more. While some champions were given a fresh feel with this update, others, like OG top-laner Singed, have been wholly nerfed into the ground, and mains of the Mad Scientist are demanding action from LoL's gameplay developers.

Dragon Age Inquisition mod cuts out all of the MMO grinding

Despite Dragon Age Inquisition dropping nearly a decade ago, fans of the famous BioWare franchise are still playing the game and circulating various mods for it online. The third-person fantasy RPG captivated fans during the early days of the Xbox One & PlayStation 4 console era. Although the game received rave reviews at the time of launch, players have never necessarily grown warmer to some of the gameplay elements of the third installment in the series. Now, one modder has taken up the duty of cutting out all the needless fat that Inquisition makes players play through to get through its incredible story.

Is Ghost of Tsushima Steam Deck compatible?

Is Ghost of Tsushima Steam Deck compatible? In a strange turn of events, Ghost of Tsushima is great to play on Steam Deck but holds an Unsupported rating, however, a detailed breakdown has been provided to explain why.

Unsurprisingly, we consider the Steam Deck OLED to be the best handheld gaming PC that money can buy, but seeing the support from first-party PlayStation studios shows how important it is in the wider gaming industry. This open-world game from Sucker Punch is one of the best on the handheld, but can't yet qualify for a Verified or even Playable rating.

Inventive new RPG launches to great reviews but few Steam players

One of the most compelling RPG games to launch so far this year is the final version of Dread Delusion. Inspired by earlier, pre Oblivion and Skyrim entries to The Elder Scrolls series, like 1996's Daggerfall and 2002's Morrowind, Dread Delusion offers audiences a fantasy world that avoids the typical elves and wizards, Western European medieval aesthetics to provide something truly, well, fantastic instead. Since it left Early Access on Steam earlier this week, the game's enjoyed a positive reception. Unfortunately, though, its player count has struggled to reach the same heights as its reviews so far.

FTL takes to the high seas in new indie pirate RPG game, out now

We're not exactly hurting for pirate games right now. Even ignoring this year's forgettable Skull and Bones, anyone looking to live a (much gentler, safer) version of the pirate's life can check out games like Return to Monkey Island, Don't Starve: Shipwrecked, Sea of Thieves, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and more. Still, there's plenty of room left to continue working in the genre as evidenced by yesterday's launch of a new pirate RPG called Seablip, which seems to draw on FTL and Terraria for inspiration.

pikmin hats

Taito has stocked some of its crane game machines with hats that look like a Pikmin heads. There are three variations: green, red, and yellow.

You will be able to obtain these items from the online version of the Taito crane games. Each hat sits fairly high on the head, so it shouldn't impede your field of vision. Each Pikmin hat is in a different stage of development. The yellow PIkmin has a leaf at the end of the antenna protruding from its head. Meanwhile, the red one has a flower and the blue one has a bud. These Pikmin hats are fairly accurate to the designs that players are familiar with. The yellow Pikmin hat is the only one with visible ears, much like the yellow Pikmins in game.

These Pikmin hats are not the only additions to Taito crane games. On the same day, Taito announced that plushes reimagining the Sanrio mascots as chuuni delinquents will be available as prizes. Those who are unable to play these crane games due to geographical reasons will likely be able to purchase them individually from proxy sites or services. However, these customers may have to fork over a premium compared to trying to get them "legitimately" through the crane game.

Pikmin 3, the latest mainline entry, is readily available on the Nintendo Switch.

I'm Desperate for Little Kitty, Big City DLC

I love Little Kitty, Big City. Even though it is probably a four or five hour game, I'm at double that due to enjoying messing around in its world. Which is why I can't help but hope for more. It feels like Little Kitty, Big City would be even better if Double Dagger Studios decided to make DLC.

The first reason I feel like DLC would be fantastic for Little Kitty, Big City is that it could fit in pretty much at any time. Open up new areas? You could enjoy it right away or in the post-game. It's the sort of game that feels like it lends itself to perhaps more to-do items being added to the cat's list. Especially since there are opportunities for them to or not to include additional NPCs. Maybe have a task that involves getting characters to photograph you. Perhaps add challenges tied to already present elements like the little putting green.

The fact that there are also places in the city now that look like they could lead to new places in a Little Kitty, Big City expansion are also perfect excuses to say, "The DLC could go here." There are a lot of puddles around. Some of it seems like it is due to rain or people using hoses. Others look like they are tied to construction. Well, maybe if Double Dagger wanted to explore work on an add-on, remove the water or make it possible for the kitty to jump or sneak past those spots to access a new neighborhood.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xJ2rxWvwX4

Not to mention, there's an awkward number of cat hats currently present in Little Kitty, Big City. There are 42 available. This means there are even two gaps in the in-game menu with "space" for two more. Even if there wouldn't be an expansion that makes the Big City even bigger, some add-ons that bumped the number up 44 to eliminate the game would be great. Or, I mean, just give us more hats and bump that number up to 48 or 60. Kitty deserves a big wardrobe.

I suppose it all comes down to my loving Little Kitty, Big City so much that I want DLC so I can send the cat out on the town again. Yes, I could always replay it. Going into my cleared save to explore for fun is an option too. However, I can't help but want to make more fun animal friends and experience more of these lighthearted adventures in an expansion.

Little Kitty, Big City is available for the Nintendo Switch , Xbox Series X, and PC, and no DLC has been announced.

Hololive Vtuber Calliope Mori on Break Following Knee Surgery

Hololive English Myth Vtuber Calliope Mori took to YouTube to offer an update on her condition following her May 2024 knee surgery. She noted that due to complications, she likely won't return to regular streaming until "the end of May."

Mori noted the surgery took longer than expected. This is due to the condition of her knee being worse than anticipated. There were also complications during the process, as a result. She said that she'll be taking a break and "the only way to get better is by doing nothing at all." She also noted she is still in pain and emotional.

After explaining that, Calliope Mori noted she will still be active in her role as a Hololive Vtuber, but said it will be limited to members-only streams. Her estimated return date is the end of May 2024, but there is no exact date at this time. She also asked for Steam Deck recommendations from people.

Prior to this surgery, Mori was still quite active. In fact, one of her most recent performances involved participating in the April 2024 DreamHack Melbourne Hololive concert. She sang alongside fellow Vtubers like Houshou Marine, Tokoyami Towa, Hakos Baelz, Pavolia Reine, and Kureiji Ollie. Her last public stream was May 7, 2024, which is when she discussed her taking a break and going in for surgery.

towa tsugai end service

Square Enix announced that it will shut down Towa Tsugai on July 23, 2024. The game started in February 2023, meaning it lasted for almost a year and a half. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

There is more information on the Towa Tsugai closure schedule on its official website. The statement from Square Enix started with an apology for the sudden announcement. It said it worked hard to provide a satisfactory experience for its users. However, because it has become difficult to do so, it decided to end service. Square Enix thanked all of the players for their support.

Premium currency will no longer be available for purchase as of May 17, 2024. You are free to use whatever you have on hand as you see fit until the game ends. The game will end on July 23, 2024. Before that, Square Enix still plans on updating in-game events. Square Enix will also refund players for any gems they have leftover afterwards.

While Towa Tsugai will no longer be available as a game, Square Enix will start Towa Tsugai Fans. This will be an online fan community in which players can continue to read the official story, as well as fan fiction . Nao Hakumoto, who is in charge of the game's story, will remain the writer of the continuation. The voice actors will also reprise their roles, and Spine Animation will be in charge of the visuals. Kaiju No 8

Naoya Matsumoto's ongoing Shonen Jump manga Kaiju No. 8 captured the hearts of readers with its adult themes and comedic charm. Now, with its anime adaptation produced by Production I.G and studio Khara, the series soared to new heights, aiming to be a real contender this Anime season. And again, it's using those same mature elements to set itself apart.

From its thrilling first episode, Kaiju No. 8 establishes itself as a standout in the anime landscape. The story follows Kafka Hibino, a sanitation worker harboring dreams of joining the Defense Force to battle Kaiju, towering monsters wreaking havoc on humanity. Despite his childhood promise and aspirations, Kafka finds himself stuck in a mundane job, haunted by a sense of failure and regret.

This adaptation perfectly portrays the world of the manga with a grounded familiarity rarely found in anime adaptations. The entire main cast are designed with realistic proportions and simple silhouettes that exude individuality and charm, whilst still giving the sense that these characters could be people you see in everyday life. This choice visually and narratively enhances Kafka's journey of maturity and self-discovery, by making these characters that much easier for the audience to connect with on an emotional level.

Speaking of Kafka, His longing to prove himself, coupled with reflections on past decisions, adds layers of depth to his character. The weight of failed promises and the feeling of not measuring up to one's own ambitions resonated profoundly with me, echoing the universal experience of the battle to make personal progress and learning to navigate life's challenges.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0OZWzTAqHg

Beyond Kafka's personal journey, Kaiju No. 8 examines the complexities of a world plagued by monsters. Kafka's own background as Monster Cleaner, pokes fun at the often occurring trope concerning the damage left behind by Kaiju. However, the Monsters in this story are far from mere adversaries. These Kaiju can easily symbolize power, destruction, and even ambition. Through these beasts and characters like Kikoru Shinomiya, the series offers a nuanced exploration of the dual nature of strength and vulnerability.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with giving up...But it's not good to lie to yourself." This powerful quote from the first episode encapsulates the struggle to find closure with unfulfilled expectations and the harsh realities of adulthood.

In a genre often defined by spectacle and action, Kaiju No. 8 provides a look at maturity, regret, and the endless struggle to chase dreams. It's a testament to the power of anime to inspire, entertain, and explore the vastness of the human experience.

The Kaiju No 8 anime is currently airing on Crunchyroll, and the manga is handled outside Japan by Viz Media.
