PCGamesN Saturday, June 22, 2024 3:00 AM I'm a bit of a secret Star Wars fan. I've seen all of the movies and a fair amount of the (many) spinoff TV shows, but I don't exactly wear my Rebel insignia on my sleeve. Over the years, I've plowed dozens of hours into games like Jedi: Fallen Order and, of course, the OG Lego Star Wars, so Ubisoft's upcoming Star War Outlaws has always been on my radar. Touted as the "first open-world Star Wars experience," I expected to catch a glimpse of some of that expansive goodness during my Summer Game Fest demo - I wanted to look under every rock and explore every alleyway. Yet I walked away having completed three isolated missions, with no open world in sight. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, June 22, 2024 3:00 AM Ollie is beset by maladies unknown today, so this is my domain now. I was tempted to recreate a hellish mockery of his fun hidden face game by trapping a crumbling mirror image of his visage, Dorian Gray style, somewhere in the above image. Alas, my version of Photoshop appears to be lacking that function. I suppose I will have to turn to other avenues of entertainment, such as a video game, should any exist. So I just checked there's actually loads of them. What a turn out! Here's what we're all clicking on this weekend. |

As part of the Good Smile Company Smile Fest 2024, three Nekopara figures of Cinnamon, Maple, and both Chocola and Vanilla together came up. While the Cinnamon and Maple ones are the latest entries in the Race Queen line, the one of the two sisters together will be a 10th anniversary figure.
Two of the figures are much further along in development than the other. Both the Cinnamon and Maple Race Queen Nekopara designs showed up as painted prototypes. This could mean both will be available to pre-order in the immediate future and launch in late 2024 or early 2025. Meanwhile, the Chocola and Vanilla 10th anniversary Nekopara design only showed up as concept art. While their sisters appeared in racing maid outfits, they'll appear in white dresses on a staircase with the series name and a 10th anniversary logo above them.
Here's how all three of those announcements look:
There's been quite a gap between Nekopara Race Queen releases. The first one was the Azuki version. She launched in October 2021. The Coconut variant appeared after that in September 2022.
The Nekopara Race Queen Cinnamon, Racing Queen Maple, and Chocola and Vanilla 10th anniversary figures are in development.Thegames are available on the PS4, Switch, and PC. The anime series is streaming on Crunchyroll.

Good Smile Company shared a number of figure announcements as part of Smile Fest 2024 in June 2024, and one is a Solo Leveling Sung Jinwoo Nendoroid. There's no release date for it just yet, however.
As this is one of those figures that is very early in development, there's no prototype to check out. However, the reveal did include concept art of Sung Jinwoo. It shows him in the Nendoroid style. He's wearing some casual clothing like he does in the series, with a navy blue jacket over a white shirt and grey pants. There's no hint as to what sorts of additional face plates or accessories could end up coming with the finished figure.
Here's the full initial teaser art for the Nendoroid:
Since its debut, Solo Leveling ended up inspiring an anime adaptation, audio book, and even game. A second season of the show will show up in 2024. Meanwhile, the free-to-play Solo Leveling: Arise based on the series is available worldwide now.
There is no release window for the Solo Leveling Sung Jinwoo Nendoroid yet. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll. Yen Press handles the manhwa, audio book, and novel. Solo Leveling: Arise is available on PCs and mobile devices.

Back in February 2024 at WonHobby 38, Good Smile Company revealed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf and Zelda figma. At Smile Fest 2024, we got to see the latest progress on both of those figure prototypes.
When The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom figma were last announced, Ganondorf appeared as an unpainted prototype and Zelda was only teased. Both are much further along in development as of June 2024. The painted prototype of Ganondorf appeared in the announcement. Meanwhile, an unpainted prototype of Zelda showed up. Ganondorf is shown wielding his sword in the latest photograph of the figure. Meanwhile, the Zelda one is shown holding the Master Sword.
Here's a closer look at how both of those are turning out so far. As Ganondorf is a painted prototype at this point, pre-orders for him will likely open in a few weeks.
Good Smile Company already started taking pre-orders for the Link figma based on his depiction in that game. The standard version is expected to release in July 2024. However, the DX version that comes with additional weapons and accessories won't appear until 2025.

During its Smile Fest 2024 announcements, Good Smile Company revealed five Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout figures of the characters in normal clothing and swimsuits. Two of them are Reisalin "Ryza" Stout, two are of Lila Decyrus, and one is of Klaudia Valentz.
First, the one Ryza figure is actually a PLAMATEA model kit. If someone gets it, they can build a figure of her in her normal clothing from the game and anime. It is very early in development, so only an announcement with her official character art appeared.
The one Lila Decyrus figure is also of her in her official attire from the game and anime. In it, she is sitting while staring at the sky. It appeared as an unpainted prototype, so the scale figure is a bit further along in development.
Finally, the last three are Solarain Atelier Ryza figures of Ryza, Lila, and Klaudia in swimsuits. Each one is only at the unpainted prototype stage of development.
Even though the Atelier Ryza original game has been out for a while, lots of figures based on it and the anime adaptation keep appearing. For example, a summer version of Ryza will appear in 2025. One involves a matching pair of her with Klaudia. Taito also recently released Aqua Float Girls versions of Ryza in a swimsuit while floating in an inner tube.
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout is available on the PS4, Switch, and PC, and five figures of Ryza, Lila, and Klaudia are on the way. The anime adaptation is streaming on Crunchyroll.

A number of figmas showed up at Good Smile Company's Smile Fest 2024, and one was an updated version of the Metal Gear Solid 2 Solid Snake figure. It is a new take on the item that first appeared back in August 2018.
The Metal Gear Solid 2 Solid Snake figma wears his original uniform, just like the first version of the figure. His face plate is a stern, stoic expression in the example photo. He's also holding the tranquilizer that he came with originally. It does seem like the bodysuit is a different shade than the original version of the figma. Also, the paint job on the face seems a bit different and more in line with other recent releases.
Here's how that looks:
To compare, here's how the original 2018 version of the Metal Gear Solid 2 Solid figure looked. The additional accessories also included an assault rifle and a cardboard box. Some of the hand parts would even allow the figma to be posed as though it is hanging from a shelf or table.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is available on the PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, Vita, Switch, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox Series X, Windows PC via various collections, and the Solid Snake figma will return in the future.

Three Azur Lane figures showed up at Smile Fest 2024, with one being a Formidable Nendoroid and the others being Cheshire and Owari scale figures. All of them are at various stages of development, and there are no release windows for any of them.
The Azur Lane Formidable Nendoroid is the furthest along of the latest reveals. She appeared as a painted prototype at the event. She's wearing her standard costume for this figure, and her twin tails are held back by their typical frilly ribbons. As she showed up as a painted prototype, this could suggest pre-orders for her will appear in the next few weeks and she'll launch in 2025.
Meanwhile, the Cheshire and Owari Azur Lane scale figures were all at the unpainted prototype stage. In the case of Owari, she was depicted both with and without her coat. Her facial expressions are different for each variant as well.
We've seen Good Smile Company come up with a few Azur Lane figures and Nendoroid designs before. HMS Charybdis, Shinano, and Chen Hai showed up at Wonder Festival 2023 Shanghai. Not to mention we saw Laffey, Cheshire, New Jersey, and Unicorn Nendoroids too.
There's no release window for the Azur Lane Formidable Nendoroid or Cheshire and Owari figures yet. However, as Formidable appeared as a painted prototype, we'll likely see pre-orders for her in the near future. Azur Lane is available on mobile devices. The console game Azur Lane Crosswave is on the Switch, PS4, and PC. You can find the anime based on the series on Crunchyroll.

Qureate's Bunny Garden dating sim game inspired its first figure, with Good Smile Company revealing a Nendoroid of Rin at Smile Fest 2024. There's no release window for it yet.
This announcement is very early in the development process. As such, there's no unpainted or painted prototype just yet. However, when the reveal came up, the image teasing did show concept art of Rin as a Nendoroid. She'll be wearing her uniform from the club.
Here's how that looks:
There's no word yet on if the other heroines from Bunny Garden will eventually appear too. The other two characters you can romance are Kana and Miuka. For those unfamiliar with the game, players follow an individual who is down on his luck and discovers the hostess bar where Rin, Kana, and Miuka work. You can take on tasks to earn money so you can visit the bar and spend it on drinks and time with them.
Meanwhile, those looking to watch others' streams of the Bunny Garden game may run into some trouble. The ones from both Hololive and Nijisanji Vtubers are disappearing and being removed.
The Bunny Garden game is available on the Nintendo Switch and PC worldwide, and the first Nendoroid figure of Rin is in development.

Good Smile Company announced it is working on another The Song of Saya figure at Smile Fest 2024, and this time it is a Pop Up Parade one. However, it will be a part of the L Size and larger than usual.
Normally, a Pop Up Parade figure costs about $31.99 and is between six and a half and seven inches tall. The L Size variants are about $57.99, and those tend to be eight and a half to nine and a half inches tall depending on the character. The announcement didn't include any concept art of how the item might look when it is released.
This is the second The Song of Saya figure Good Smile Company will offer. The first was a WING scale figure. That featured Saya with green wings, suspended by a pillar of blood. It showed up in November 2020 and was a more expensive one, costing about ¥18,700 (~$117).
In addition to the game and upcoming figure, there was another update on Saya about a year ago. An AI app was created that would let people talk with the series' heroine. That was also available in English.

When bringing up Smile Fest 2024 figures, Good Smile Company finally shared an update on the Raiden Shogun and Zhongli Genshin Impact Archon Nendoroids. Unpainted prototypes of both of them showed up at the event.
It's been years since we heard anything about these two Genshin Impact figures. Announcements for both of them appeared back in May 2022 at WonHobby G Spring. There wasn't even concept art for either character at the time. Only official art of Raiden Shogun and Zhongli were shown alongside the teasers. It also said they both were "coming soon."
The initial image shows both characters in very active poses. In the Raiden Shogun and Zhongli photos, the Genshin Impact Nendoroids are wielding their weapons. In Raiden Shogun's case, she is about to perform her Ultimate. With Zhongi, he has his polearm and a dragon form at his feet.
These aren't the only HoYoVerse Nendoroids that showed up at Smile Fest 2024. There were updates on two for Honkai: Star Rail too. Aventurine and Blade are both on the way.
These two Genshin Impact figures join three others already in the line. Aether, Lumine, and Venti Nendoroids are all already available.

As part of Smile Fest 2024, Good Smile Company shared two new Honkai: Star Rail Nendoroids of Aventurine and Blade. Aventurine is the further along of the two, as it was painted, and the image of Blade shared with us was an unpainted prototype.
As neither character has costumes or alts in Honkai: Star Rail, both the Aventurine and Blade Nendoroids show them in their normal attire. Aventurine has his typical suit with coat on. He also wears a hat and sunglasses. Based on the unpainted prototype's photograph, these will be removable. He's also holding his cornerstone. Meanwhile, the unpainted Blade prototype shows him with his hair long and covering his face. He'll also wield his signature weapon.
Here's a closer look at the two figures.
Previously at Smile Fest 2024, Good Smile Company announced a Firefly scale figure. Its pre-orders for the Dan Heng Nendoroid Doll are also open until the end of June 2024.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Aventurine and Blade Nendoroids are in development. Given the level of progress shown in the photos, we'll likely see the Aventurine figure pre-orders open in the next few weeks.

Tamashii Nations has announced an S.H. Figuarts figure of SAM from Honkai: Star Rail. There aren't any pictures of the prototype yet, but the promotional art shows SAM in Complete Combustion mode.
As there isn't a prototype available yet, there's not much information on the Honkai: Star Rail SAM Figuarts figure. If it's like normal Figuarts figures, it'll be an action one, which means there will be joints in the limbs for you to pose it as you wish. SAM is holding the item that Firefly uses to put on the armor, so it might be an optional part you can put in its hand.
In Honkai: Star Rail, SAM is the name of the armor that Firefly uses in battle. SAM is short for Fyrefly Type-IV Strategic Assault Mech, but it was also the name of the Stellaron Hunter until the reveal of who is underneath it. In battle, Firefly can enter Complete Combustion state with her Ultimate, which will give SAM wings, glowing eyes, and a trail of light emanating from the back of its head. These features are visible in the promotional art.
Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. More information on the Honkai: Star Rail SAM Figuarts figure will appear in the future. Though not from Tamashii Nations, Good Smile Company also announced a scale figure of Firefly.

As part of Good Smile Company's Smile Fest 2024 announcements, six NieR: Automata figures and figmas of 2B and A2 appeared. Their level of progress varies, with some showing up only as concept art and others as painted or unpainted prototypes.
Four of the new NieR: Automata figures are of 2B. One is a Max Factory scale figure with the skirt of her dress flying up and her Pod 042 by her side. That is in the painted prototype phase. The other scale figure of her is also at the same level of development. As for her figma and Good Smile Arts Shanghai scale figure, both of those are only at the unpainted prototype phase.
Here's how those look:
As for the two A2 NieR: Automata figures, those aren't as far along. The figma was just announced, so only concept art appeared. Meanwhile, her scale figure only showed up as an unpainted prototype.
This is how those teasers looked:
All of these figures were mainly billed as being based on their anime appearances. The second cour of that is set to begin streaming on Crunchyroll in July 2024. The Pod's Podcast will also resume.

The Pod's Podcast for Nier Automata Ver1.1a will start up again along with the second cour of the anime. Like last time, Hiroki Yasumoto will be the host.
You can listen to the NieR Automata Ver1.1a official podcast via Onsen. The previous episodes are there as well. When the show starts to air, you'll be able to send in letters about your thoughts on the anime in. If you're lucky, Yasumoto might read your message and respond to it. For reference, Hiroki Yasumoto is the voice actor for Pod 042 in both the game version and anime adaptation of NieR Automata. His previous roles include Germany from Hetalia: Axis Powers, Chad from Bleach, and Elfman from Fairy Tail.
NieR Automata Ver1.1a is the anime adaptation of the critically-acclaimed and award-winning NieR Automata game. Instead of being a straight adaptation, it incorporates elements and characters from content like the stage play. As the first cour focused on the first two endings in the game, which revolved around the YoRHa androids' conflict with Adam and Eve, the second cour will adapt the latter half of the game. This will bring more focus onto characters like the Red Girls and A2.
NieR Automata Ver1.1a is readily available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The second cour will start airing in Japan and on Crunchyroll from July 5, 2024.
