Black Ops 6 Zombies is upping the gore in one truly gruesome way

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is bringing major changes and new additions to the series staple Zombies mode, from being able to save and quit mid-match to the inclusion of Max Payne-style 'omnimovement'. To compliment the unique and equally grotesque zombie designs, it's been revealed that Black Ops 6 Zombies will feature gruesome death animations for the first time as well.

This year's Prince of Persia Metroidvania is 40% off, and essential

I've spent a lot of 2024 going to bat for Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. Ubisoft brought back one of its best IPs at the start of this year to almost no fanfare, and that's a massive shame. The Lost Crown is a truly inventive Metroidvania with a plethora of free updates since launch, and it finally came to Steam earlier this month. The launch was met with a 'mixed' reception from barely 250 user reviews, and this is nothing short of a travesty. The game's price has already dropped and it even has a 40% off sale, so now's the perfect time to give it a try.

The best city building games 2024

What are the best city building games? There's nothing more relaxing than sitting down for an afternoon of city building games with a hot drink. We've lost countless hours lining up buildings just how we like them or scrambling to save a population on the brink of collapse, and occasionally, we've purposefully brought about that collapse to see how our citizens would cope. Not very well, as it happens.

Our list of the best city building games offers something for every management game fan, which is why you can find some of them on our best PC games list, from hardcore town planners looking for a challenge to entries that welcome genre newcomers with the promise of tutorials, stripped-back interfaces, and a few apocalyptic threats.

     The Witcher 4 won't

After The Witcher 3 and its similarly spectacular DLC wrapped up Geralt's saga, we've all been patiently waiting with bated breath over how Geralt will feature in The Witcher 4, which kicks off a new era. We all knew the iconic monster slayer would return somehow, but Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, has off-handedly confirmed his role in the next entry.

You can try Elder Scrolls Online for free right now, but not for long

As someone with over 300 hours in Final Fantasy 14 in the last year thanks to the free trial, I can attest to how the right MMO can dig its claws in you. If you're new to the genre like I was with FF14, you need a lot of time to understand the systems and mechanics these massive games are known for, and the dedication of a monthly subscription isn't good for that. Elder Scrolls Online already doesn't require a sub, but if you're still hesitant to put down the asking price, a new QuakeCon event gives you some time to try the game for free.

Sundays are for more Gene Wolfe. I've finished Shadow Of The Torturer now, and I think Claw Of The Conciliator might be even better so far? Before I become ever more enamoured with Severian's self-mythologising antics, let's read this week's best writing about games (and game related things!)
