The KFC Japan X (formerly known as Twitter) account has posted a teaser for an upcoming Umamusume: Pretty Derby collaboration or event. More information about it will come out on August 20, 2024.
There is virtually no information about this outside of several hashtags and a picture of a mysterious horse girl with Colonel Sanders's unique facial characteristics. Even those who are unfamiliar with Umamusume, however, should be able to recognize the face as Gold Ship's. She's wearing Colonel Sanders's mustache and glasses. People are using some of the hashtags in KFC's Tweet to post fanart, comics, and pictures. Aside from artwork of Gold Ship eating fried chicken, there are also people posting photos of a Gold Ship nui in front of an actual KFC order.
Though she's not exactly a protagonist, Gold Ship in Umamusume: Pretty Derby is the mascot and main personality of PakaTube, which is the official channel for Umamusume. Her popularity stems not only from her looks, but also her eccentric behavior. The real-life horse Gold Ship is also beloved by fans for his unique personality. As such, even disregarding her status as the official spokeshorse for PakaTube, it may not be surprising that Cygames or KFC would choose her for a special crossover.
More details on the Umamusume: Pretty Derby collaboration with KFC will come out on August 20, 2024. Umamusume: Pretty Derby is readily available on mobile devices and Windows PC in Japan, and the English version is in development.

The RPG landscape was beginning to shift in 2007 when Lost Odyssey released. Final Fantasy had begun to favor more stylized and cinematic storytelling. The not-far-off Final Fantasy XIII in particular would limit exploration (to an extent) to serve its deep political and sweeping narrative. In contrast, Lost Odyssey represents a progression of golden age JRPG storytelling, offering players a rich world full of exploration, a great cast of characters, and plenty of discovery along the way.
Created by Final Fantasy's father Hironobu Sakaguchi, Lost Odyssey acted as a spiritual successor to 90's JRPGs. Also, with Uematsu on board for the soundtrack, Lost Odyssey felt like a Final Fantasy game in everything but name.
The game offers a rich, emotional narrative with deep character development, focusing on themes of immortality, loss, and memory. Also, the traditional turn-based combat and richly detailed world feels like a love letter to fans of classic JRPGs.
The characters in Lost Odyssey are one of the game's strongest aspects. A diverse cast of characters join Kaim Argonar, the immortal protagonist. Each has their own struggles and backstories deeply intertwined with the game's central themes.
In terms of gameplay, Lost Odyssey stays true to those same roots Final Fantasy does. The turn-based combat system is strategic and challenging. The addition of the "Ring System," which adds a timing element to attacks, keeps players engaged during battles. The game also includes traditional exploration and puzzle-solving elements, reminiscent of the earlier Final Fantasy titles.
At the time of its release, Lost Odyssey was part of Microsoft's strategy to break into the Japanese market. Alongside games like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey was one of the key titles in Microsoft's attempt to attract Japanese gamers to the Xbox 360. Although these efforts ultimately fell short, Lost Odyssey remains a significant title from this period. It showcases what could have been if Microsoft had succeeded in its ambitions.
Lost Odyssey captured the essence of what many JRPG fans loved about the genre during its golden age. Despite being over a decade old, the game still holds up well, with its timeless story, memorable characters, and classic gameplay mechanics.
In the end, Lost Odyssey represents a separate path from the Final Fantasy series. For fans of classic JRPGs, Lost Odyssey remains a must-play title. A game that stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of the genre and the creative vision of Hironobu Sakaguchi.
Lost Odyssey is currently available as a backwards compatible title on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

The seventh line of Sanrio wafer and collectible cards will come out on August 19, 2024. You'll be able to get each pack for 143 JPY (just a little under $1). [Thanks, Game Watch!]
Like other wafers from Bandai Namco, each bag will come with a collectible card. This time, there are two series of cards, combining for a total of 29. Of that 29, there are 2 secret cards. As for the wafer snack itself, it's the usual cocoa cream flavor. The first line-up features mascots hugging little plush toys. For example, Hello Kitty is holding a teddy bear while Keroppi is holding what looks like a teruteru bouzu. These cards have a light, pastel coloring.
The second line-up has much bolder colors, featuring angel and devil versions of the mascots. Each card has a frame that almost looks like a Tarot card. Some of the cards will also feature both angel and devil versions of a mascot. The mascots on these cards are Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Kuromi. However, there are also the 2 aforementioned secret cards. Judging by the popularity of certain mascots, one of them might be Hello Kitty.
The Sanrio wafers will be available in stores across Japan from August 19, 2024. You'll be able to find them in the snack aisle.

Magical Girl holoWitches, a manga series based off Cover's holoWitches project, will start serialization in Ultra Jump. The first chapter will appear from the October 2024 issue. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]
Shinichiro Ito is charge of illustrations. Ito's other works include Love Forty and Shonen Macho+. As a note, he was the illustrator for those series and not the writer. So it's highly likely that someone else will be in charge of writing the story for Magical Girl Holowitch while Ito provides the drawings.
Magical Girl holoWitches is a new multimedia project from Cover and hololive. In this alternate universe, six hololive VTubers became magical girls with the help of two original fairy characters. One of them is Aelu (voiced by Rie Takahashi from Fate/Grand Order and KonoSuba) and the other is Lagu (voiced by Aoi Yuuki from Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Persona 5). The VTubers who are part of this project are Amane Kanata, Sakura Miko, Himemori Luna, Houshou Marine, Murasaki Shion, and Sakamata Chloe.
You can watch the trailer for Magical Girl holoWitches here:
Other media works that'll be part of this project will include a livestreams and an anime. There is also a webcomic series available via the official website.
The manga version of Magical Girl holoWitches will start appearing in Ultra Jump from the October 2024 issue.

Sports games are massively popular and beloved by millions. It is impressive how dedicated sports game fans are to checking out the latest iteration of rosters, modes, and gameplay mechanics every single year. When it comes to Madden NFL games, this long-running franchise has adhered to giving players the best look at American football in an interactive form. But what is the best Madden NFL game of all time?
The Siliconera staff has gotten together to focus less on the overall best mechanically impressive game in the series, but the ones that stuck out the most to us. Perhaps because of certain modes, how the gameplay works, or just pure nostalgia, but these are the best Madden NFL games in our opinions.
Siliconera Speaks Up: Best Madden NFL Game
Honestly, I haven't played many Madden games. However, as a kid I ended up playing a shocking amount of John Madden Football on the Genesis! Some real formative memories with friends and cousins are tied to it. So even though it doesn't have the management elements I love in more modern sports games, I really liked getting to play with family and fight over who got to be the Bears. -- Jenni
I haven't played a Madden NFL game in a very long time (I was always more a basketball or soccer game fan), but I have fond memories of checking them out as a kid. Basically anything from around the PS2 and Xbox generation somewhat into the Xbox 360 generation is iconic. The one that sticks out to me the most is Madden NFL 08. It was sooo good and smooth to play on the 360. It struck the right balance between realism and the more arcadey nature I like. Plus, the PC version had a phenomenal modding community. It is still worth playing even now. -- Cody

These suitcases are on four wheels, and they'll come with a TSA-approved dial lock. As a note, the dimensions for the small-sized suitcase are H55 x W37 x D23 cm. This means that it should fit within the requirements for carry-on luggage for the majority of airlines.
Snorlax isn't the only Pokemon that Lojel has featured on a suitcase before. You can also purchase suitcases of Eevee, Pikachu, and the Kanto starters. These are all available via Lojel's Rakuten page.
Snorlax has been around in the Pokemon franchise since it started, as it's one of the original 151 Pokemon. It has been quite the popular characters, likely due to its charming and friendly design. It's quite short at under thirty seconds long. As a note, it does contain spoilers from the final battle of the show. The Last Attack will retell parts 3 and 4 of Attack on Titan: The Final Season. Series director Yuichiro Hayashi said that this is the optimal format to watch the last showdown and conclusion of the show. This is because he originally drew the storyboards of The Final Chapters specials with the intention of having the audience watch it all as a movie.
Attack on Titan ran from 2009 to 2021 in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, and it has been compiled into 34 tankobon volumes. It was a very popular anime series as well, with Wit Studio animating seasons 1-3 and MAPPA taking over from there.
