Developed well over two decades ago, the original Silent Hill 2 is the magnum opus of Polish horror stalwarts Bloober Team. Running on then-innovative "Unreal Engine 5" technology created by Jazz Jackrabbit publishers Epic MegaGames, it's a wonderful abyss of a game that remains perfectly playable today, given a certain amount of tolerance for the quirks of the era. It begins with your character, James Sunderland, descending from the road towards the eponymous Midwestern nowhere-town. Like many games of the period, Silent Hill 2 uses a third-person, over-the-shoulder manual camera, which allows you to glance fearfully up at the monstrous pine trees that fringe the path - each rising from a bulging tide of fog that menaces with the suggestion of approaching figures. There is moisture everywhere, gushing from drain pipes and dribbling down concrete barriers. As you amble into the murk, deathly chords and groaning, unmechanical motifs reverberate from somewhere deep underground. |

This is not the same as Lovecraft refreshment, no matter how much I might want to return to the days before old one plushies and Cthulhu children's books terrorised the internet en masse. There's not quite enough information about "story generator" sim Marry a Deep One: Innsmouth Simulator for me to confidently say it'll cut through my exhaustion with all things tentacular and horrifically be-gilled. But it is beguiling, isn't it? There's all sorts of little widgets and details shown off that remind me of everything from Sid Meier's Pirates to classic adventure games, and maybe even a little Rimworld? It's a heady soup, although one I'd recommend against quaffing, given where the water comes from. |

The 2022 version of Modern Warfare 2 lacked the original's multiplayer, and H2M was so highly-anticipated that Steam sales of the 2016 FPS balooned in the lead-up to the mod's planned release date. It didn't hurt that Activision had it on sale, of course, but the timing lined up so well that some fans speculated the discount was a deliberate bait-and-switch on the publisher's part to profit from excitement over a mod they were already planning to shut down. |

Ueni Trading has announced that it will sell new Demon Slayer S-Meister watches under its Garrack brand. These automatic watches will be available in late August 2024.
The brand will produce four watches modeled after Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Kyojuro in this collection. Each model will have a unique design based on each character, but all of them will have the same basic functions. The watches will also have a water resistance of up to 5 ATM or bar.

This is not the first time Garrack produces watches themed after Demon Slayer. In April 2024, it revealed smartwatches that also feature breathing and heart rates. It released the latter in May 2024 with two models featuring Tanjiro and Nezuko, respectively. Online orders for both smartwatches are still available at ￥35,200 (~$236) as of August 2024, and they are also available to ship overseas via the WorldShopping widget.
The Demon Slayer S-Meister watches will be formally available on August 30, 2024. Garrack will open pre-orders for the watches a week earlier from August 23, 2024.

Shift Up officially confirmed that Misato Katsuragi will be a playable character in the Goddess of Victory: NIKKE Evangelion event, and she'll be a free unit we can earn. As such, she will only be an SR character, while the other three are SSR ones that we get by pulling on banners.
Misato will be a free login reward in NIKKE during the special Memories of NERV Evangelion themed daily login campaign. This is a 21 day login event, with tickets for gacha banner pulls on the docket. According to the roadmap shared below, someone will need to login at least three days to claim Misato.
People will also be able to get Misato Katsuragi for taking part in the Evangelion event in NIKKE. This is how you will get multiple versions of her. Shift Up didn't note exactly which activities will award someone extras of her, but did note someone will be able to get up to three more of her via that method. The developer also confirmed that like the other three characters, Misato won't be available after the event ends on September 19, 2024.
The patch notes for the August 22, 2024 NIKKE update offered more details about the character. Misato will be a healer in the game. She's classified as a Supporter that uses an SMG known as Self-Defense Automatic Pistol. She's also allied with NERV, like the other three characters in the event, and comes from the Abnormal "Manufacturer." She deals Iron damage.
Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is available on PCs and mobile devices, and the Asuka, Mari, and Rei banners and costumes will feature a staggered rollout throughout August and September 2024. The three banners and event will all end on September 19, 2024.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga series will conclude at the end of September 2024. Shueisha has announced via the franchise's official social media account that it will publish the final episode of the manga on Monday, September 30, 2024. Given that it is simultaneously released worldwide via MangaPlus and Viz Media, it should appear worldwide shortly after.
Shueisha will publish the 44th issue of the 2024 Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on that day. This issue will contain the 271st episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, which will also mark the end of the manga series. In addition, the company noted that there are five more chapters scheduled for the manga.
The conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen in 2024 has been expected for a while, though. The series' author Gege Akutami announced at Jump Festa 2024 in mid-December 2023 that this could have been the title's last appearance during its active serialization at the annual event.

Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen first appeared in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in the 14th issue of 2018 published on March 5, 2018. Shueisha has published 27 tankobon volumes of the manga as of July 2024, with the 28th volume scheduled for release on October 4, 2024.
The anime adaptation, which first launched in 2020, has also received the "Most in-demand animated TV show in the World" record in the 2025 Guinness World Records, as it has surpassed even the likes of One Piece and Attack on Titan. In July 2024, TOHO Animation published a teaser trailer for the anime's third season, which will cover the Culling Game arc.
The 271st episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, which also acts as the final episode of the manga series, will be published on September 30, 2024.

An original TCG based on Love Live will come out some time in Spring 2025. You can check out the teaser site here.
There's virtually no information on the card game as of yet, though more details will appear as we approach the release window. The site features almost all of the main girls from the Love Live series. According to the announcement Tweet, 5% of the sales from the initial release of the first booster pack will be donated to the Noto Peninsula restoration efforts. The area has still not fully recovered from the earthquake that occurred on January 1, 2024.
Most of the direct replies to the Tweet aren't very positive or optimistic. Some people ask if Bushiroad still remembers School Idol Collection. Others aren't too keen on the idea of Bushiroad being in charge of the TCG. Card games from Bushiroad include Cardfight!! Vanguard, Future Card Buddyfight, and Weiß Schwarz. Goodwill towards Vanguard is not as high as before due to multiple reboots and poor management. Though a different department, Western Love Live fans also suffered due to Bushiroad's business decisions in the past with School Idol Festival 2: Miracle Live. Skeptics suggest that Konami should be the one working on the Love Live card game instead. The ones who are excited for it seem to look forward to creating a deck that feature their favorite units.
The Love Live TCG will come out some time in Spring 2025, with more details to appear later.

The Pokemon Company has opened global pre-registrations for Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket while announcing its release date. People from all around the world will be able to access and play the new Pokemon TCG Pocket mobile game on October 30, 2024.
Pre-registrations for the new game have opened on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Once the game has gone live, players will be able to open two booster packs for free every day.
The Japanese official website also revealed that the free-to-play game will support subtitles in Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, European Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese. As a side note, the English official website noted that the original trading card game has been available in 14 languages. However, the former implies that Dutch, Polish, Russian, Indonesian, and Thai language support will not be available at launch.
The Pokemon Company has also published a new trailer for Pokemon TCG Pocket on its official YouTube channel:
The company initially revealed the new mobile TCG app at the Pokemon Presents stream in late February 2024. It also announced that DeNA, which also worked on Pokemon Masters EX, is part of the game's development group.

Nintendo revealed that it will stream a new Direct program on August 19, 2024, at 3pm PT/6pm ET. However, it will feature a completely different topic. This Direct will exclusively focus on the Nintendo Museum that the company will open in Kyoto, Japan in Fall 2024.
The program will be available in not only Japanese, but also in English. The Japanese stream included fine print noting that it will not have any announcements about new video games or the Nintendo Switch's successor console. This program will run for just around ten minutes.
Nintendo has been working on the museum since as early as 2021. When the company unveiled the museum's official sign in late October 2023, it also announced plans to finish its construction by the end of the 2023 fiscal year in March 2024. The company later revealed that it will open public access to the museum in Fall 2024.
The company also wants its museum to be accessible to international tourists. When Nintendo opened job applications for the museum's reception and guide staff in late February 2024, it specifically encouraged people who can also speak foreign languages other than Japanese.
The Nintendo Museum Direct program will go live simultaneously worldwide on August 19, 2024, at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET in the Americas and on August 20, 2024, at 7 AM JST in Japan.
