Kotaku Thursday, September 19, 2024 3:50 PM Making a sequel to an amazing game is hard enough, but with each subsequent entry that task gets even harder. PCGamesN Thursday, September 19, 2024 12:36 PM There's a lot to like about Stormgate. The free Steam game from Frost Giant Studios draws inspiration from RTS greats including StarCraft as well as Command and Conquer, and while its early access launch has been met with mixed reception I'm still watching it with keen interest. I got my hands on the new Logitech G915 X to see how it all adds up. While the original version of the Logitech G915 may have dropped off our best gaming keyboard guide, it remains a decent little gaming keyboard if you're after a low-profile design. PCGamesN Thursday, September 19, 2024 11:55 AM What is the best Warzone DTIR 30-06 loadout? Battle rifles are (forgive the pun) a little hit and miss in Warzone; they often lose out over their assault rifle cousins due to a less forgiving rate of fire, and a more specialized role in the battle royale. The DTIR 30-06 however, is an offering that might just straddle both classes of weapon, giving us the best of both worlds, especially when kitted out correctly. The new Warzone season is here, and as usual, the update brought with it a handful of new Warzone guns, including the DTIR 30-06. With our attachments, we have created a DTIR loadout that hits hard, has next to no recoil, and can take a fully armored opponent down with a quick volley. PCGamesN Thursday, September 19, 2024 11:05 AM When it comes to choosing the best CPU cooler, there's a diverse range of options that cater to both casual users and PC gaming enthusiasts. For most home users, the key criteria of a good CPU cooler are that it should keep your CPU cool while remaining quiet, though some users may want all-out cooling performance over noise suppression or need a super low-profile cooler to fit in a tiny PC. Whatever your needs, we've got a CPU cooler for you. The world of gaming PC CPU coolers may seem daunting, but fear not! We've assembled a list of the best CPU coolers from reliable brands like Noctua, Cooler Master, Be quiet!, MSI, and NZXT. We've crafted a dedicated guide just for the best AIO cooler options, and if you're wondering how to overclock your CPU, we can help with that too. When picking a CPU cooler, ask yourself what your budget is, what space your case has, whether you care about making a fancy-looking interior to your case, and how much you care about noise. In general, quality air coolers are the best bet for most systems, as they can be quite cheap while being quiet. However, they can be big, bulky, and difficult to install. Instead, for a cleaner-looking build and an easier installation, all-in-one (AIO) water coolers are your best bet, but they can be a touch noisier and more costly too. PCGamesN Thursday, September 19, 2024 10:28 AM It's taken a couple of years, but Samsung has now finally announced that it's joining the likes of Corsair and Crucial in the PCIe 5.0 SSD club. The new Samsung PM9E1 promises speeds of up to 14.5GB/s, and the company is also making some big claims about its power efficiency and battery life. Could this finally be a PCIe 5.0 M.2 Samsung SSD that can be practically used in a laptop, and doesn't need a ridiculously massive heatsink? Disappointingly, Samsung hasn't mentioned any details about thermal performance yet, but if the company could nail PCIe 5.0 SSD performance in a power-efficient drive that doesn't run overly hot, then it could have the best SSD for gaming of the future in its hands. This is the first proper M.2 PCIe 5.0 Samsung SSD to go into mass production, as while the Samsung 990 Evo ostensibly uses the PCIe 5.0 interface, it only uses two lanes, which means it's no faster than a PCIe 4.0 SSD. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 19, 2024 11:50 AM Fifteen months on from its PS5 release, Final Fantasy XVI – that actiony RPG of emo-fringed hack 'n' slashing and disquietingly sexy Ralph Ineson characters – is now on PC. Enough time, you'd think, to do a proper job of rejigging it with Windows spanners, especially after Final Fantasy XV's port got so much stick for its lack of features and performance issues. FFVXI does make some improvements, adopting a full set of DLSS and FSR upscalers and frame generators, and its mouse and keyboard integration feels generally slicker than XV. Sadly, it's still no first-rate adaptation, neglecting numerous PC features and giving low-end systems an even deeper kick in the plums. Cutting the quality settings can help, as per the guide down below, but overall performance is so up-and-down than you'll likely never achieve a perfectly smooth ride. |

Twin Engine has released a special music video for My Deer Friend Nokotan, featuring the full version of "Shikairo Days." You can watch the video via its official YouTube channel.
The music video starts with the main characters (and some realistic-looking deer) dancing to the viral opening bit of the song. It then shows short clips from the show, with the lyrics appearing over them. Considering the music video uses material from the show, it may not come as a surprise that it has the same-fast paced ridiculousness as the actual episodes.
My Deer Friend Nokotan is a comedic slice-of-life manga and anime series that follows Torako Koshi (Koshitan), a former delinquent who puts on the facade of an honors student. However, transfer student Nokotan turns her life upside down. Not only is she some sort of bizarre deer-girl hybrid creature, but she often gets into chaotic situations. Koshitan has to struggle to not only hold onto her mask as the perfect student, but also keep her sanity from crumbling under the sheer ridiculousness.
The anime (from Wit Studio) will end on September 22, 2024, and there will be twelve episodes total. To promote this, a truck featuring Nokotan went around Japan (namely Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Ikebukuro) for people to look at or take pictures with. The truck's last day was on September 18, 2024 and its final stop was Shinjuku.
My Deer Friend Nokotan is available for streaming on Crunchyroll. As for the manga, Seven Seas Entertainment licensed it for an English audience.

Bandai Namco's support for Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections continues, and the next DLC in the pipeline is a Karma Progression version of Boruto. That is set to appear alongside another costume and additional items on September 26, 2024.
There's no trailer just yet, so we don't know what the Boruto (Karma Progression) moveset will look like just yet. Bandai Namco only shared one screenshot and an overview infographic. People can use a Boruto Uzumaki (with Horn) costume with him. Should someone get that and use Sasuke Uchiha, Madara Uchiha, and Indra Otsutsuki together, they can use the Apocalypse Combination Secret Technique. 12 matching voices and five Ninja Info Card backgrounds will also appear.
There are multiple versions of Boruto in the game already. For example, are ones based on Karma, The Chunin Exam, Scientific Ninja Tool, and the standard, basic version of him available already.
As usual, there are two ways to get the Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections Boruto (Karma Progression) DLC. One is to buy the add-on on its own. Like the past releases, this would be a $5.99 purchase for the pack with the character, costume, and other items. It is also a part of the $24.99 season pass alongside past characters. If we go that route, then Kawaki (Karma Progression), Kurenai Yuhi, Isshiki Otsutsuki, and Hagoromo Otsutsuki will also be included.
Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is available now on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and Boruto (Karma Progression) joins as DLC on September 26, 2024.

Good Smile Company has opened up pre-orders for an SPM figure of Hatsune Miku in her Kitty Cat Module. This appears to be exclusive to the US store, as the main Japanese Good Smile Company website does not have this figure available.
The Hatsune Miku Kitty Cat SPM figure will come out in Q3 2025. It costs $25.99. As a reminder, due to geographical licensing restrictions, Good Smile Company will only ship figures to Canada or the United States. So those outside of those countries will need to find another store. This is also not a figure from Good Smile Company and is a partner product from Sega. That could explain why the Japanese Good Smile Company store doesn't have it.
The Kitty Cat (or Cat Girl) Module for Hatsune Miku is from the first Project DIVA game. It was one of the winning Modules in a contest rather than a design from a music video or official art. Pontaro was the designer When wearing this MOdule, Miku has giant cat paws and feet, as well as cat ears in her hair. She's wearing black pants with suspenders, and there are various cat-related motifs on the belt and knees. Her shirt shows her midriff and has a red tie for a pop of color.
You can order the Hatsune Miku Kitty Cat Module figure via Good Smile Company.

Square Enix announced that we can now sample the Romancing SaGa 2 remake ahead of its debut via a demo, complete with a save file carrying over to the full game. It is immediately live on the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.
Square Enix explained exactly how much of the Romancing SaGa 2 remake the demo covers. Like other entries in the SaGa series, there are multiple leads. In this case, we're picking up right as the game begins. We'll meet Emperor Leon of Avalon as he is about to deal with the corrupted Seven Heroes member Kzinssie. However, after that boss fight, the trial ends and we need to carry over that save to the full game.
Along with the new demo, there's a new trailer. This is one prepared for the 2024 Tokyo Game Show. It begins with Leon and his son Gerard, both of whom appear in the demo. It also shows the Dancer and Imperial Blacksmith classes and introduces the Seven Heroes Bokhohn, Dantarg, Kzinssie, Noel, Rocbouquet, Subier, and Wagnas.
Romancing SaGa 2 will come to the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC on October 24, 2024, and the demo is available now on all four platforms.

HoYoVerse teased more details about the Honkai: Star Rail crossover coming to Honkai Impact 3rd in a new video, and the company noted the event will happen on November 28, 2024. The update 7.9 collaboration ended up with the tagline "Sparkle's Debut," suggesting she will become the playable Battlesuit available during the event.
The video stars Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai: Star Rail writer Shaoji and Honkai Impact 3rd artist RJ. The two discuss they might want to accomplish with the crossover and various ideas, which are clearly jokes. The first featured Welt Yang playing a big part. This is because he is a Herrscher from the Honkai Impact 3rd timeline. It involved him and Void Archives, with Welt using his Soulium to survive on a frozen planet. The second idea featured a fictional "clash" between lead characters from the Astral Express and Saint Freya. this joke involved Trailblazer fighting Kiana, Welt facing Bronya, and Himeko against Himeko. Another involved magical realism in a workplace with characters from each world. The video closes with an appearance from Sparkle, suggesting she'll be playable, as she alters the event Shaoji is working on.
Here's the full trailer. English subtitles are available if you turn on closed captions.
This is an incredibly common occurrence for HoYoVerse. Aside from the fact that the Welt Yang in Honkai: Star Rail is literally the one from Honkai Impact 3rd, a similar crossover already happened. Back in 2021, Fischl from Genshin Impact appeared in Honkai Impact 3rd. She showed up as a playable A-rank battlesuit. It was called Prinzessin der Verurteilung.
Honkai Impact 3rd is available on the PC and mobile devices. Honkai: Star Rail is on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The Honkai: Star Rail crossover event will appear in Honkai Impact 3rd on November 28, 2024.

Kaiyodo has revealed two new figures related to the Ninja Gaiden series on its Japanese X account. One of them will be a Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi action figure based on the Ninja Gaiden version of Ayane.
While Ayane has also made multiple appearances in Dead or Alive entries, this figure will be mainly based on her appearance in the Ninja Gaiden series. Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge will be the exact game that serves as an inspiration for this action figure. The game is included in Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, which Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja released on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in June 2021.
The Ayane Revoltech figure will mark the continuation of the collaboration between Kaiyodo and Koei Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden franchise. The companies started their collaboration by revealing a Ryu Hayabusa Revoltech action figure in May 2024. In fact, Ryu will get another figure modeled after himself, as Kaiyodo also newly announced plans to produce a 1/7 scale static figure of the same character.
Kaiyodo's double-announcement tweet is also available to view right below:
The Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi action figure of Ayane and the new static figure of Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden will be available for pre-orders "in the coming days."

Build-a-Bear announced its next Sanrio character plush toy, and this time it is Badtz-maru. People can buy him in stores now for $36, and there are also online bundles for $49.50 for a dressed version and a $64.50 one that includes Pochi the alligator.
The standard Badtz-maru Sanrio plush at Build-a-Bear just gives you the stuffed animal. You can get him stuffed or unstuffed if you buy him online. The $49.50 bundle includes the toy and his signature overalls. The most expensive of the three adds the small alligator stuffed toy so the character has a "friend."
It is also possible to get some of the Badtz-maru items separately. For example, you can purchase Pochi for $15. That arrives pre-stuffed. The Badtz-maru Overalls cost $13.50 on their own.
Here is how the Badtz-maru and Pochi stuffed animals look:
This comes after two additions to the Build-a-Bear Sanrio plush collection in August 2024. The 50th anniversary Hello Kitty showed up at the store. People could also get Halloween versions of Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, and Pompompurin.
The Build-a-Bear Badtz-maru stuffed animal is available now, and we will be able to find it both in-stores and online. However, note that some of the bundle options seem to only be online-exclusive promotions.

NIS America and Furyu's next big game is going to be Reynatis, a JRPG with a story from Scenario Writer Kazushige Nojima. While Nojima's work on entries in the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts involved fantasy worlds and fictional locales, this one brings us into the heart of Shibuya. To better understand what that involved, Siliconera had the chance to ask a few questions about the game's development.
Jenni Lada: What led to you working on Reynatis?
Kazushige Nojima: My encounter with Creative Producer TAKUMI's enthusiasm is what started things.
What was your biggest influence when writing the story?
Nojima: The town of Shibuya itself. It's a place I'm familiar with, so I walked around it thinking about what kinds of things could happen in which places.
What kinds of efforts did you take to balance realism and magic and the supernatural in the story?
Nojima: Aside from the magic, wizards, magic organizations, and the other world that exists because of magic and monsters, I made sure to keep everything else grounded.
After launch, Reynatis is getting additional story episodes. What did the development and creation of those look like?
Nojima: I think FURYU Corporation is very generous. During development, we tried to make sure that no one would think, "Couldn't this have been in the main game?"
Given these are post-launch story episodes, what sorts of opportunities came when deciding what they'd cover and address?
Nojima: Events that happened before and after the main game. I wanted to make sure all the side story-type content went into the main game.
Do you feel like you accomplished all you wanted to with Reynatis, or do you feel like there's opportunity for more to be explored in a possible sequel?
Nojima: It's always difficult to tell a linear story in a game with an open map structure. I encountered this issue with Reynatis, but I don't think I quite solved it. I'd love to take another crack at it.
Also, we weren't able to put in episodes for the individual characters, so if there were the opportunity to do that [it would be great].
Reynatis will come to the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC in North America and Europe on September 27, 2024, and then in Australia on October 4, 2024.

Sanrio has revealed a new Hello Kitty gold coin to celebrate the character's 50th anniversary. The company has also opened sales for this coin on the Premico web store.
This coin will show Hello Kitty and a Shinkansen train with a livery based on the character. It will also show other notable Sanrio mascots, such as Cinnamoroll and Little Twin Stars. The coin will have a diameter of 5 cm (1.97 in) and weigh around half an ounce. It will also be made with .9999 gold.
The Premico web store page revealed that this coin will be based on a Cook Islands dollar proof coin and manufactured in Germany. The other side of this coin will feature the British King Charles III, who is also the reigning monarch of Cook Islands as of 2024.
This Hello Kitty coin will have a listed value of $100 in Cook Islands dollars, which would also equate to $100 in New Zealand dollars or around $62.50 in US dollars. However, the value shown here is only for decorative purposes, as the coin is actually being sold at a whopping 657,800 yen. With the September 19, 2024 exchange rate, that would be around $4,600 in US dollars. Only 500 copies of this coin will be produced and sold, and Sanrio will also encase each coin in a Shinkansen-themed acrylic stand.

Pocketpair has published its response to the lawsuit filed by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. The Tokyo-based indie game company has stated that it will begin legal proceedings while investigating the latter companies' claims of infringement of patents related to Pokemon against the former's game Palworld.
In its statement, Pocketpair noted that Palworld had been a surprise hit for the company. The game had been garnering attention since its initial reveal in June 2021. It ultimately recorded over 5 million downloads within the first weekend after its Early Access launch in January 2024 while setting a new concurrent players record on Steam.
However, Palworld players also noted that the game has a number of close similarities with Pokemon. That also spurred The Pokemon Company to start investigating the game in late January 2024. The investigation eventually led to the company working with Nintendo to file a lawsuit against Pocketpair on September 18, 2024.
While Pocketpair will now have to allocate a good portion of its time to deal with this lawsuit, the indie company also promises that it will not stop improving Palworld. It also wants to ensure the retention of creative freedom for indie game developers as it defends itself in this lawsuit.
Pocketpair has also shared a copy of the statement on the official English X account for Palworld:
Palworld is available worldwide on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as macOS and Windows PCs.

Some more details have appeared about the September 21, 2024 announcement about new anime from Kyoto Animation. Instead of sharing information on one show, the studio will present its entire line-up for 2025. [Thanks, AIR!]
Here is a link to the stream. As a reminder, it will premiere at 9pm JST on September 21, 2024. That would equate to 5am PST/8am EST on the same date. When Kyoto Animation first revealed that it had an announcement, many people guessed that it would have something to do with Haruhi Suzumiya. This is due to the 21st anniversary of the series, as well as the new Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya light novel. Since Daisuke Ono will be the narrator, these rumors may prove right.
For reference, Ono voiced Itsuki Koizumi in the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime adaptation. It seems likely that if he will be there in the presentation, it has something to do with the series. Ono is a very popular and prominent voice actor. A small sample of his more major roles include Jing Yuan in Honkai: Star Rail, Erwin in Attack on Titan, Jyushimatsu in Osomatsu-san, Shizuo in Durarara!!, and Ushiromiya Battler in Umineko When They Cry.
As for Kyoto Animation, it is a major anime studio that's well-known for its high production values and positive treatment of employees. It created many influential titles since its founding in 1985. Some of its shows include Air, Lucky Star, K-On!, and Violet Evergarden.
Kyoto Animation will reveal its 2025 line-up on September 21, 2024.
