Astro Bot isn't just a brilliant adventure platformer, it's also an homage to PlayStation history.      AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D box just leaked, new gaming CPU could have fast clock speed

The packaging for the new AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has just been leaked, and if it's genuine, it shows that both AMD and Intel are donning their goth outfits for the next generation of gaming CPU launches. The new 9800X3D is expected to be released imminently, and will pick up from where the acclaimed Ryzen 7 7800X3D left off, possibly with a higher clock speed.

The latter is currently the best gaming CPU you can buy, thanks to its use of AMD 3D V-cache, which we've found can significantly boost frame rates in games. However, with reported Ryzen 7 7800X3D stock shortages, a replacement is already sorely needed.

It's so good in fact, that it's turned more people than I can name around on the genre of turn-based RPGs. So if you're yet to play it or want to drag an unassuming friend along for the ride, the newly revealed Sea of Stars Dawn of Equinox update will be the perfect time.

Pompeii The Legacy is an ambitious city builder that twists the Roman world

There are few things I love more than videogames and ancient history. Developers make virtual worlds that help us climb through an open window into the past, where historical accuracy and creative license combine to produce a living, breathing approximation of a bygone era. No other medium can manage it and even real-world archaeological sites are just a memory of their former selves. With the metropolis management of Cities Skylines and the historic accuracy of Assassin's Creed, Pompeii: The Legacy is an upcoming city builder at the forefront of virtual history. To learn more I chatted with Siscia Games' solo developer Zeljko Kos. Trust me, this is a game you need to keep an eye on.

Hell is Us is a perplexing fusion of atmospheric survival and sci-fi soulslike

Hell is Us is a curious creation. Sitting down with minimal idea of what to expect, my immediate impressions are of a moody, atmospheric blend of horror and survival game not unlike the early approach to Resident Evil 4's village. Yet just a short while later I'm darting through dungeons, wielding twin axes in full soulslike fashion against writhing, jerky sci-fi abominations that wouldn't feel out of place in Death Stranding, or even Silent Hill. As my hands-on preview session at Gamescom 2024 comes to a close, I'm still not quite sure what to make of it, but I definitely want to see more.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D gaming CPU stock is running out, with prices skyrocketing

It looks like stock levels for the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D are tightening up in the US, as prices for the popular CPU are steadily rising. With October's rumored launch of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D just around the corner, this could point to AMD (and retailers) clearing the decks to make way for the company's next CPU launch.

Nothing is confirmed, but price increases at this point in the life cycle of a product like the 7800X3D would typically point to stock shortages or unusually high demand, and with AMD shortly planning to release the 9800X3D, the timing makes sense for a clearout. If you can get your hands on one, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is still the top choice in our best gaming CPU guide, at least for now, thanks to impressive performance for the price.

A 24GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 will follow the 16GB graphics card, says leak

There will reportedly be two versions of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080, an initial one with 16GB of GDDR7 of VRAM, and a second one with 24GB of memory that will come later. If it's true, this rumor has echoes of the GeForce RTX 4080 GPU launch, with that chip originally set to come in 12GB and 16GB graphics cards. However, the former was later "unlaunched" due to the negative reaction of PC gamers to its underwhelming specs.

The new Blackwell-based GPU is expected to launch alongside the GeForce RTX 5090 at the start of 2025, with the latter expected to be the best graphics card in the Nvidia gaming stable. However, the most-recently leaked GeForce RTX 5080 specs don't paint a flattering picture of Nvidia's new second-tier GPU, with it looking pretty weedy compared to the RTX 5090, thanks to half the VRAM and less than half the number of CUDA cores.

New Arc Line is almost the steampunk Baldur's Gate 3 of my dreams

Perhaps it's just me, but there's something so fascinating about looking back at our predecessors' visions of the future. Flying cars, robots; things that now seem almost quaint compared to our modern, neon-bathed, cybernetic dreams. Unlike the ever-popular cyberpunk worlds associated with capitalist dystopias or impending armageddon, New Arc Line's steampunk setting is infused with a feeling of hope. The titular city represents prosperity, the American dream - it's like walking back in time to an era that, while ravaged by war, outwardly looks a little brighter.

This Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti gaming PC has an amazing spec for just $989

You usually expect to make some big compromises when you're buying a PC for under the magic $1,000 mark, but this Best Buy gaming PC deal enables you to pick up a great spec for just $989.99 right now. That price not only gets you an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GPU, but you also get an eight-core AMD Ryzen CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. That spec would usually set you back $1,179.99, but you can save $190 on it at the moment.

That's not an entry-level spec, but more what you expect to find in the best gaming PC options we've reviewed for mid-range budgets, with plenty of power for gaming at 1,920 x 1,080, even if you whack up all the eye candy. Something feels off. I've brought an utterly improbable Champions League title to Aston Villa, built an enviable Ultimate Team and developed a formation that keeps at least outright humiliation at bay in online matches… And yet, my heart isn't bursting with the joy of joga bonito. This must be how Guardiola feels, popping onto the pitch to celebrate his annual Prem title with the latest batch of ruthlessly efficient, lab-grown wonderkids and pushing down the feeling that this one doesn't feel quite as special as the first.

That is to say, EA Sports FC25 is a bit like FC24. Which was quite a lot like FIFAs 21-23, which had a lot in common with the FIFAs our ancient ancestors used to play by the fireside in their primitive tribal dwellings. There are noticeable additions - particularly new tactics controls and a 5v5 Rush mode - and I'm glad they're here. But as much as they contribute towards a continuously compelling suite of foot-to-ball, they can't quite dislodge the nagging feeling that this shouldn't be an annual, full-price release anymore.

In fact, the game's demo managed to make me go "oooh" than "ah!" in three different ways before I'd even exited the starting elevator. It also made me go "ugh" once, because I opted against tank controls, despite the suggestion to use them with mouse and keyboard. These tend to come in the form of screenshots or brief videos on social media, which is where the newest clip appeared. It focused on the places we'll go when we get to town, with one of the moments offering us a peek at Heaven's Night now in Silent Hill 2. However, there are also two new soundtrack trailers to listen to as well.

This brief clip focuses on three spots we'll go to. They don't exactly appear in order, and we don't get to see people like James or Mary in the spots. The latest teaser begins with a look at Brookhaven Hospital from the outside. This is a recurring place featured in multiple installments. After that, we get to see the Heaven's Night club where Maria works in Silent Hill 2. Finally, we get to see inside of Toluca Prison, which is only a featured spot in this installment.

Following TGS 2024, Bandai Namco released more focused Bleach Rebirth of Souls character trailers for Ulquiorra and Ichigo (Bankai).

During the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, Bandai Namco teased the Hueco Mundo arc would appear in the next Bleach video game. Now, there's a new Bleach Rebirth of Souls trailer totally dedicated to Ulquiorra Cifer and his moveset. It goes over a handful of his attacks. There's also a new Ichigo Kurosaki (Bankai) Bleach Rebirth of Souls trailer too.

Ulquiorra is one of the more notable members of the Arrancar who gets quite a bit of face time during the series. He's the Quatro Espada and wielder of Murcielago. His signature move should look familiar, since he uses it often in the anime and manga. Cero returns as one of his attacks. Meanwhile, his Spiritual Pressure Move highlighted here is Instant Regeneration. As the name suggests, it lets a player restore his Reishi.

Here's the Bleach Rebirth of Souls Ulquiorra Cifer trailer:

Meanwhile, the Ichigo Kurosaki (Bankai) version character trailer focuses on the changes to his moveset in this alternate Bleach Rebirth of Souls option. His Signature Move, if we choose this form, is Getsugatensho. The Spiritual Pressure move Getsuga Aura also is available.

Here are all of the Bleach Rebirth of Souls characters revealed ahead of the two latest trailers and announcements from TGS 2024.

Bleach Rebirth of Souls will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in early 2025. The Bleach anime, including Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, can be found on Disney+ and Hulu. Part 3 of Thousand-Year Blood War anime adaptation kicks off on October 5, 2024. Viz Media handles the manga outside of Japan.

Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact Game Delayed for Rollback Netcode

While the Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact fighting game originally had a 2024 release window, it is now delayed until 2025. However, Bushiroad announced the change is for an important reason. The goal for the extra time is to allow Eighting and Bushiroad to add rollback netcode to the final version of Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact

The statement about the delay is rather short. It simply noted that Bushiroad and Eighting felt rollback netcode would be needed for the Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact online matches. The goal is to ensure the online experience is stronger ahead of launch. Prior to this reveal, playable builds of the title did show up at multiple events.

Here is the full statement regarding the Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact delay:

"The release timing for Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact will be changed from the previously announced 2024 timing to now release within 2025.

We sincerely apologize for the trouble caused by this delay to the players who are looking forward to the game's release.

This delay is so that we will be able to implement rollback netcode for release.
*Rollback netcode is a system that reduces the feeling of connection delay when playing online matches.

We made this decision out of concern that players would not be able to fully enjoy the game in a state where some players would encounter issues with online play, given the nature of fighting games.

The release date will be announced at a later time. We appreciate your understanding, as we continue to work to provide the best game possible."

Prior to this reveal, it had been a while since any new updates about the Hunter x Hunter fighting game appeared. The last reveal came in July 2024. That's when we learned Meruem would be a part of the roster.

Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact will appear on the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC in 2025, now that it's been delayed. The Hunter x Hunter anime is available to watch on Crunchyroll. You can also buy the localized manga from Viz Media.

7.1 FFXIV Patch Release Date, FFXI Crossover Detailed

During the 2024 Tokyo Game Show presentation of FFXIV Letter from the Producer Live 83, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida went over things coming in the next patch, like the FFXI crossover, and teased the release date for 7.1. It will arrive in the middle of November 2024. Official key art for the crossover featured Gulool Ja Ja, Prische, and the Shadow Lord.

First, here's the 7.1 key art for the next FFXIV patch. It's primarily teasing the Echoes of Vana'Diel Jeuno: The First Walk Alliance Raid. That will allow 24 people to fight together. We don't know exactly how the FFXI characters will feature in it yet, but given how that MMORPG worked and how those featured folks appear in it, odds are Prische is our ally in some way.

As with every FFXIV patch, when the release date comes for 7.1 it will bring with it both mainline and optional activities and quests. The MSQ story will continue with new quests. Yuweyawata Field Station is the next dungeon to join the game. If someone wants an Alliance Raid not based on FFXI, there will be a The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid in FFXIV. The Minstrel's Ballad: Sphene's Burden Trial, The Jade Stoa (Unreal) Trial, and Futures Unwritten (Ultimate) Raid will appear as well. A number of additional sidequest missions will also appear. The Pelupelu Allied Society Quests, Wachumeqimeqi Quests, and Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures quests will show up. New Game+ will be added for the 7.0 storyline as well.

We'll also see quality of life changes in 7.1. Yoshida noted that new interior design options will be available for houses. In addition to entirely new ones, we won't be limited to ones for the region where we live when we pick designs. Doman Mahjong will get new voice acting. Hall of the Novice will offer more training, to help us prepare for fights. Halatali will get Duty Support too.

In case you missed the Letter from the Producer Live 83, the archive is available on YouTube. We can still see it below:

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Final Fantasy XI is available on the PC. The FFXI crossover event will appear in FFXIV when the release date for patch 7.1 rolls around in November 2024.
