Lotte will have a collaboration with Shaft, releasing limited-time Puella Magi Madoka Magica versions of its Koala's March snacks. They're only available online and purchasing the entire set will get you a free clear file. [Thanks, Oricon!]
There are two versions of the boxes. One version uses stills from the anime, such as the scene of Madoka lying on the grass from the opening or Sayaka's heroic pose after she first appears as a magical girl. The second version uses promotional images of the girls, but they all have the signature ears and nose of the Koala's March mascot.
As mentioned earlier, the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Koala's March snacks (officially called Madoka Magica's March) won't be in physical stores. You can only purchase them via the Lotte Online Shop from October 3, 2024. During the first production run of Madoka Magica's March, Lotte will sell 3500 limited-time sets that'll come with all ten designs, as well as an original clear file. The front of the file will show the girls looking like their normal selves, and then the back will show them with the koala ears and noses. As for the cost, it'll be about 3980 JPY or $27.20 and the whole thing will come in a special box depicting the five main girls.
This collaboration seems to be part of the 40th anniversary campaign for Koala's March. Koala's March is a bite-sized cookie that contains a sweet filling. The filling is usually sweet chocolate, but there have been variations such as the apple pie flavor for Hello Kitty or the more common strawberry. Puella Magi Madoka Magica will also be celebrating an anniversary, as the Walpurgisnacht Rising movie (originally announced as part of the 10th anniversary) will come out some time in 2025.
The Puella Magi Madoka Magica Koala's March snacks are available via the Lotte Online Shop. You can watch the show via streaming services like Crunchyroll.

It's hard to imagine what the history of JRPGs would look like without the contributions of Square Enix. Once two powerful rivals, Square and Enix's library reads like a who's who of the genre. We've picked some of the best retro Square Enix JRPGs, and to keep things fair we're only mentioning Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest once each.
Final Fantasy VII
It would be very difficult to overstate the impact of Final Fantasy VII on the JRPG genre. This flashy, ambitious PlayStation debut for the Final Fantasy series proved to be one of the key titles for helping this genre break out in the global market. Setting all of that aside, it's also a very good game. With a compelling setting, memorable characters, and a story that will keep you guessing to the end, it's not hard to see why Final Fantasy VII would lead a list of the best retro Square Enix JRPGs.
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Trigger isn't just one of the best retro Square Enix JRPGs, it's also one of the best JRPGs of all-time. Some of the biggest names in the business came together to make this game, resulting in an absolute masterpiece. Terrific graphics, a spectacular soundtrack, and a blazing pace are just some of the reasons that this Super NES title has stood the test of time and served as the inspiration for countless other JRPGs. An essential game to play for anyone interested in the genre.
Valkyrie Profile
The PlayStation played host to some of the most interesting, innovative JRPGs ever. Valkyrie Profile saw Square Enix and developer tri-Ace come together to create an intriguing mix of side-scrolling platforming and speedy turn-based combat. This is all wedded to a fascinating story about a Valkyrie named Lenneth and the fallen heroes she recruits to her cause. Reaching the best ending can be a challenge, but it's a worthy test that rewards you with even more story.
Romancing SaGa III
The SaGa series marches to its own beat, and that was obvious even as early as this Super Famicom installment. Romancing SaGa III has a lot of the usual SaGa elements. There are eight characters to choose from, character growth that is based on your actions as opposed to gathering experience points, and many opaque systems to experiment with. In terms of presentation, this is among Square's finest 16-bit releases. It's a hard game, but satisfying.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
In many ways, Dragon Quest V is a special game in the Dragon Quest series. In Japan, its unique story helped make it one of the most cherished games of all-time. This was, however, the first mainline game in the series to miss out on a localization. It wasn't until the Nintendo DS remake that players outside of Japan could see what the fuss was all about. Dragon Quest V follows the story one of one person's life, from childhood to parenthood, and it's that distinctive set-up that helps make it one of the best retro Square Enix JRPGs.
Let us know what you think the best retro Square Enix JRPG is below!

Since it was such a popular collaboration, MOS Burger will have yet another campaign with One Piece. The first part of it will start from October 9, 2024 and if you get the kids' meal, you can also get some exclusive toys.
The promotional material for the collaboration shows Luffy and the rest of his crew running forwards excitedly, as if they can't wait to nom on some fast food. The tagline for the One Piece MOS Burger campaign can loosely translate to "Treasure time together." Like the long-running fandom joke of the One Piece being the friendships they made along the way, MOS Burger suggests that the real treasure in life is the time you spend having fun eating with your friends and family.
While supplies last, if you order a kids' meal at MOS Burger, you can choose a prize. There's a craftwork set in which you can fold your own little Luffy paper figure. You can also choose a set of cutlery (a spoon and a fork) depicting the Straw Hat Pirates, or you can get a slap bracelet of the crew. These will be available in MOS Burger stores around Japan from October 9, 2024.
One Piece is readily available to watch on streaming services like Crunchyroll. As for the manga, Viz Media has licensed it for an English audience.

Good Smile Company offered us a first look at the initial Like a Dragon Nendoroid, which is a figure of Yakuza staple Kazuma Kiryu. The unpainted prototype of the figure debuted at WonFes 2024 Shanghai, showing what we can expect from it at launch.
As this is an early take on Kazuma, it's a very stark picture. We only get to see the character in a stoic pose. He's wearing a suit, and holding no accessories. However, the little paint that is present does show how his beard will look on the face plate. The design does match the concept art that showed up at WonHobby 38 in February 2024.
To compare, here's how the concept art for the Kazuma Kiryu figure looked alongside the new unpainted prototype.
We first learned Good Smile Company committed to a Like a Dragon Nendoroid line back in October 2023, and the first announcement for each Yakuza figure only included official art. We don't know how the Goro Majima and Ichiban Kasuga ones are coming along yet.
There's no release window for the Kazuma Kiryu Nendoroid yet. The next game in the series is Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. It stars Goro Majima and will be out on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 28, 2025.

Some other issues include players being unable to use ashes in certain parts of a boss arena, some spells not working when cast in quick succession, and a talisman effect not applying to throwing weapons. There are also several suggested fixes aimed at improving performance including disabling Ray Tracing in the PC version, which has caused some performance issues.

I love mobile rhythm games like Love Live School Idol Festival, Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage, and I-Chu. The idea of collecting character cards, building them up, and using those decks to ensure I'm strong enough to clear song stages has always been thrilling. Plus, Japanese idol music is pretty good. I-Chu: Chibi Edition seemed like exactly the type of game I'd want, since it is all that minus free-to-play nonsense. Except even though this is a single-purchase game, so much of those mobile trappings get in the way. Not to mention, the translation is shockingly awkward.
Etoile Vie School is a school for young men of varying ages to attend to become idols. They train in different courses to ideally become strong performers. Where do we come in? We're the producer who helps them on the way. Though that really means we collect character cards to form teams, use those decks to earn points as we play through rhythm-game songs, and read extremely short visual novel chapters that go over their journey to stardom.
Basically, here's how the gameplay loop goes. You play through a song on easy with your crew of five "talents" recruited from the gacha. (These cards can be combined or leveled up to become stronger.) After beating certain songs, you can read through a handful of story chapters. A new track then opens up, you beat it, and you can read more story chapters.
Now, before we go further, know this isn't an otome game. While your "avatar," who acts as a producer, is a woman, there's no romance here. All of the side stories that had those elements in the mobile game are absent in the I-Chu: Chibi Edition. I was incredibly disappointed to hear about that, so it's best to know that before you pick it up.
You're, as far as I've seen, locked into the "easy" difficulty to unlock more of the story in I-Chu: Chibi Edition. Which you need to advance to unlock more of the gacha banners. The easy versions of songs are honestly too safe sometimes, and I've yet to not get a full combo on one. Especially since all of the virtual "friends" you can select for assistance have maxed out parties.
Though honestly, skipping the story might not be a bad idea. The localization is bad. There are so many awkward phrases here and strange word choices. The punctuation and spacing between letters is incorrect at times. It isn't as bad as what happened with The Villainess is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom, but there are times when it feels close. Which is weird, as I've found PQube translations to typically be rather solid.
I was also disappointed by how much unlocking there is for a console version of a mobile game. At this point, someone is paying $30 for I-Chu: Chibi Edition. At the very least, all of the songs should be available immediately in the free-play section, so you can jump right into any tracks you enjoy. But no. They're not. You need to go through the story to unlock them. Similarly, not all the gacha banners are available either. Again, you need to unlock them.
Speaking of which, I have a lot of issues with how the gacha is handled in I Chu: Chibi Edition in general. The odds seem as bad as they would be in a mobile game. After five hours of playing, I only have one LE card, and it is for Li Chaoyang. You'd think that, given this is completely offline and pulled from the mobile version, the rate could be increased so I'm not swamped with Rs and RRs. It'd be nice to see LEs more often.
Which is all a shame, since the rhythm game portion of I-Chu: Chibi Edition is quite fun. Once you do start unlocking a substantial number of tracks — let's say around 10-20 — you'll start finding favorites! I felt a lot of them were catchy, and the vocalists performing them all seemed pretty talented. The Normal and Hard difficulties start to feel enjoyable, and Maniac can be genuinely challenging.
I like the idea of I-Chu: Chibi Edition, as having a one-purchase version of a mobile game that grants you to access to almost everything is appealing. However, the way it forces you to unlock everything, the awkward localization, and the still frustrating gacha system hold it back. The music is good! The rhythm game element is pretty solid! Once you get some decent cards, you can make some strong teams! It's just all of the other stuff surrounding it bogs it down.
I-Chu: Chibi Edition will be available for the Nintendo Switch on October 3, 2024.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Metal Gear Solid Delta Producer Noriaki Okamura and Creative Producer Yuji Korekado talked about the possibility of making more remakes of games in the Metal Gear series. In short, there's no news yet. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
When asked about the possibility of new Metal Gear remakes appearing in the future, Okamura said that, if the developers were to remake the original Metal Gear Solid or the first two Metal Gear titles as an example, the same mindset of keeping faithful to the original used for Metal Gear Solid Delta would not work. He noted that they would need to create many new elements from the ground up.
Because of this, the developers don't know if they can properly continue with the Metal Gear series or how far they would be able to take it. However, Okamura added that the developers would like to wait until people get the chance to play MGS Delta and offer their feedback before moving forward with the Metal Gear series.
With the number of staff members that worked on the original Metal Gear series growing thinner, the developers would like to create a way to preserve the Metal Gear series for the next 10 to 50 years. Korekado said that, if every Metal Gear title is available on PC, the chance of people continuing to play and discover the series in the next 10 or 20 years is high.
